UPMC Events Center is quite a gem of a venue! I feel like there's not a bad seat in the building. I've been to this venue for a few shows and have had a great experience for them all! We park across University in the GE lot near Mike and Tony's. It's a quick walk up the hill and no waiting to leave at the end of the show. I love that at each show they have a themed craft cocktail. Keep in mind that the bev lines tend to get long, so make a plan on when to grab a brew. Their food is solid venue food. The pepperoni rolls and pretzels and great for a quick bite. Overall my experience here was great. Was there for the Babyklok Tour (Concert) -Got a parking spot right next to the venue, -Security was simple (metal detectors plus a quick wand'ing), two Moon Twp police did. foot patrols around the venue in addition to campus security (not campus police; public safety). -Seats were comfortable, and wide enough. I'm 6'7 315, I had no real comfort issues. Section 110 was a great spot to watch the entire concert from (if you prefer to sit rather than Gen admin which is floor/mosh pit) -Sound/acoustics and lighting for the show was good. No real complaints there. -Leaving was easy. Security directed traffic (both foot and car) and Moon Twp Police did traffic control on university blvd. Was able to get to I-79 within 15m of getting in my car. All in all, I wouldn't mind returning for a future show. read more

I've been to three concerts here and the sound is consistently bad. It is usually nearly impossible to clearly hear what the vocalist is saying. And for some bands, the singer's mics are overpowered by the musicians' sound levels. Bad acoustics or inexperienced sound engineers, I don't know. Please work on it! read more

Checked out this new event center for a Sara Bareilles show. Our seats were in section 115 G up near the stage. The sound was decent but the lighting crew was a little off a few times - training light on Sara's guitar while leaving her face in the dark and things like that. We stopped for a quick bite and a beer in the shopping center across the street where we struck up a conversation with the couple next to us. They tipped us off about the parking disaster up near the venue and advised us to leave our car in the shopping center and walk across. It was a great decision. Cars were backed up all the way down to the main road. Beer selection in the venue is very basic - don't expect many craft beers here. Ladies rooms ran out of TP even though two women were on site to clean & restock. The signage inside is pretty bad but the place is small enough, you can find your way. Now here's the weird thing. When we entered, we came in the front but when we exited, they make you walk out another way and that does not easily connect to the front walkways. It's ABSURD that patrons have to walk along the traffic to get back to the front. We tried walking around back and walked right up to Sara's tour buses - no security which was strange and unsafe for her. There was this big fence there so we turned around and walked around the side next to the traffic. Traffic out was awful for those who parked at RMU. We breezed out quickly from across the street. Hopefully they can add some better traffic and patron signage to direct people on getting in and out. Appreciated the police at the intersection crosswalk. read more

A brand new sports facility, concert venue, conference center, and event space. Hosting Evanescence for their first concert on May 12 and the Doobie Brothers on August 16th. The sports arena is impressive, with good sight lines for all seats. There's a student bleacher section at on end. A sports medicine space features 2 hydrotherapy pools, one with a treadmill. The conference center adds 11,000 sq feet of meeting space. Additionally there are locker rooms, coaches offices, a weight room and officials dressing rooms. It all adds up to a great addition to the campus, I look forward to attending a concert there soon. read more

Wow, terrible acoustics. I think they put a teenage boy in charge of the sound board. The bass was overwhelming and you couldn't hear the vocals at all. I'm currently outside standing around with lots of other people because the sound is also SO LOUD. the floor seats are smashed in together so tightly that small people will have a problem being comfortable. They are folding chairs that are right up against each other. It's a shame. This place could be great if they fixed a few things. read more

We were here for the Sara Bareilles concert last night and holy hell does this place have growing pains to sort out still. And they're hosting AJR on the 22nd of this month? EEP!!!! 1) Get their early and park nearby and walk across the street. Honestly, as "ample" (their word in the emails) as parking is, we left at 7 from North Side and didnt get into our seats at the concert until 8:15/8:30 due to RMU only using its main entrance for the concert and there just being one artery through campus. Parking took forever; i've honestly parked quicker out at Key Bank! It was rough parking; they just kept routing everyone around the campus to whatever lot still had spots. There needs to be a better plan. Just park across the street and walk up. 2) I think the acoustics could be made better across the board. It was really hard to me to hear the lyrics while Emily King (who was opening for Sara Bareilles) was singing since Mrs. King has a relatively soft voice. 3) The venue seemed horribly understaffed in the actual concert area for Sara Bareilles last night. There were ushers on floor level i'm sure but other than that I saw maybe 3 red shirt ushers the entire time and none by our section. The one guy who helped us also kept pointing out signs on the wall as section markers to everyone and the arena was dark except for the stage lights. People of all ages were at the concert and some, like me, don't have the best eyesight so telling guests "do you see the PNC sign there in the back left?" is just stupid. Have the section signs dimly lit or something. Or just have an usher for each section. 4) A couple of times when Sara was talking at the mic holding a guitar the guy working the lighting near us kept having to hold the light a little higher so part of her face wasn't in shadow. I have friends who worked in stage lighting--those things are heavy-- but it was really noticeable when they had to move the light to be more on her. I'm all for paying a college student to work the concert, but maybe re-work the set-up for the lights that shine on the front to so they can be computer controlled or something. 5) Getting out of RMUs campus after a concert is a mess. We parked in what I think was "Upper Massey lot" (honestly all the people directing traffic seemed completely bored). If it wasnt for me noticing a handful of cars turn left off Campus Drive towards what I believe is Greenlea Road and eventually Sharon Road as we left, we'd have been stuck in the "wait 30 minutes to go 2 feet" exit traffic that seemed to be worse than at KeyBank Pavilion! RMU does not have the means to do concerts like this. We followed the handful of cars bailing though and it was 100% worth it! We ended cutting down Sharon road to Beaver Grade road to university blvd. DO THIS!!!!! It saved us so much time. DO what i mention in point #5 if you're parked anywhere in the back of campus! It saved us so much time and very few people went that way. read more

It was my first time attending the UPMC Event Center for a concert. The facility is located on the Robert Morris Campus. The facility overall was great! It was clean and easy to navigate through to find seating. The only thing that I didn't like is that if your seating on the far right side, there is thing that blocks the view of the stage, I don't know if that is something that can be adjusted so that this won't be a problem with future events. The staff was nice and helpful. The parking lot was hectic which is something that can be expected at any event. read more

Parking- 5 minute wait to get in. We didn't get to pick where we parked. We were directed in by police. Can't complain because it was free. We left during the encore so didn't have a problem getting out. There aren't many lights so it was hard to see. Also, no police helping pedestrians walk across intersections. Venue- Surprisingly small. Smaller than Peterson Events Center. Its set up like an auditorium. You have to take stairs or elevator up to the main floor. From there, you can only enter the seats and go up or down to your section. I thought it was oddly build on the sides. There isn't much of a concourse. We had to go through the locker room areas for restrooms. Food, beverage, and merchandise booth could be a long wait. If you go all the way over to 105, there was no line for food. Beer, pretzels, ice cream, soda, water, pizza, nothing special. We didn't buy anything. View- We sat in row A, section 105 thinking it would be the best seat in the house. We were wrong. We sat right in front of the lighting unit and couldn't see anything. We missed the opening act. We walked around the venue looking for an information booth but wasn't able to find one. We ended up going to the main entrance box office. They exchanged our tickets to the same section but up a few rows. We were able to see much better but couldn't hear the sound that well. All the speakers were facing the front and sides where we weren't. The lighting was also in our eyes.I suggest sitting in 106/114 instead. Evanescence, however, would be 5/5 everytime read more

We saw Counting Crows here and the acoustics were terrible. The venue only had one entry point and exiting the arena was confusing and time consuming. We were herded through tunnels and hallways with the rest of the crowd for 15 minutes to get to the exits. Parking was free and there were ample spots for the taking. There is only 1 road leading to the auditorium so traffic can be tricky. The concert was great but the venue left a lot to be desired. read more

We have been to a few of my daughters cheer competitions here and it it a wonderful facility. There is plenty of comfortable seating and from what I've seen no matter where you sit you have a decent view of the floor. There's a few different concession stands and also a chick fil a inside. My only complaint is there is never enough parking for big events, no matter how early we arrive (sometimes we're over an hour early) we always struggle to find a place. Other than that it's a great facility! read more

There is no parking! It took us an hour and a half to drive from bob evans to the campus (1 mile!). It wasn't until we got to the very last lot that the traffic control officer said that all the lots were full and that we should park illegally at giant eagle. By this time the show was half over so we just left. read more

Went to a concert here last night and they need some work! Outside the venue parking is spread out so be prepared to walk across the campus, however the police at RMU add to the confusion as they are directing traffic however are not helping pedestrians cross streets or direct them on were to walk. There is no signage to direct you were to sit or to the will call booth outside. Once you get to the gates there is lax security run by college students, who do not know how to keep a line moving or to direct individuals into a line. One you are finally able to find your section through the use of guessing and small signs. You will notice that the seats are entirely too close which means you practically have to sit on your neighbor, they are the fold down hard basketball seats, you would think they would have invested in a little bit of comfort. Once the show starts you will have the displeasure to know that too many staff with flashlights will really disrupt your experience with constant light flashes, and moving people around and checking tickets over and over. The sound itself is the only reason this venue got 2 instead of 1 star, it is actually pretty good. Overall, I would not recommend going to this venue for a concert of anytype unless you enjoy spending premium dollars for a subpar uncomfortable and confusing venue. read more

Great venue Horrendous traffic problems, and they need some more sound proofing, as the noise mix isn't doing the singers any justice. I had tickets to a concert there over the weekend. The traffic was so bad that it took 1 hour to drive 2 traffic lights. Once near the venue the parking was a nightmare. I darn near collapsed from exhaustion walking to the arena. It was a 15 minute walk. I arrived to the show 15 minutes after it started. Same scenario upon exiting. This was my first and last time there. read more

Attended a concert here. My favorite band...have seen them many times..unfortunely the venue was so chaotic with staff yelling and pacing around trying to get people out of the aisles. This was an older crowd, not exactly rowdy kids...it was so distracting seeing the staff handle things so poorly it took away from the awesome music. I ended up leaving early because given the chaos and lack of control during the concert I did not feel that exiting when the concert was over with hundreds (maybe thousands) of other people would be a good idea. The acoustics in this venue are also not great...the place overall did not do this band Justice. Very disappointing. Drove 90 mins to attend at this venue. We won't be back. read more

if I could give 0 stars I would . i was completely abused by the staff of the upmc events center . i tried to help the paramedics get a sick person in a wheel chair get out the door and when I tried to come back the staff at the door made fun of me for the music I listened to, said i wasn't allowed to re enter my concert that I put months of planning into and hundreds of dollars into. I explained my situation that I was only helping someone in a wheelchair, and they didn't care. i am a nice, respectful, 22 year old woman I wasn't harming anyone or anything. I should have just walked back into the concert area but they said they would have security get me out and I didn't want to go to jail (for being a complete victim) They NEVER made me aware of this "no re entry" policy. that is their fault. the worst venue i have ever been too and i couldn't even get inside. had tix for Leanne Morgan. sat in stand still traffic for over an hour and they had us parked at least 1 mile away. it was ridiculous. by the time i got up to the door the show was already started over 45 minute. it was the worst situation and RMU better get their act together on getting people in and out of there on time. i will NEVER attend another show there. read more

My friend was helping the paramedics get a sick person in a wheelchair get out the front door and when she came back in to watch the concert she paid hundreds of dollars for they said no re entry . They were completely aware of the situation but they didn't care . No one warned her of this policy. They told her what she had to do to help the sick person and that's what she did . The staff here completely robbed her . When she asked for a refund they said no. Please find a different venue if you have any human decency read more

Attended concert --at least most of a concert last night. This place is so poorly managed I hardly know where to begin. RMU has no idea how to move people efficiently so that they can get to their seats in time for the show to start. Parking--who knows what's going on? We turned onto University Blvd at about 7:15 with only a mile to go to the campus. Traffic was lined up almost that entire distance in the right turning lane for Campus Dr. I ended up taking an illegal turn onto a oneway street to get back into a small neighborhood near campus to get to the far parking lot on campus. (Believe me while we were sitting on University we had plenty of time to look at the map and set up the gps.) Once we finally got parked, there were no way-finding signs to the Events Center. We and others walked another quarter mile across campus until we found it. Then the purse check and metal detector conducted by students, and no signage directing us to the will call window. And no signs at the window, either. No directions to find our section except "It's on the other side."--just wander and read small signs--in the dark because the show was well underway. Finally settled into our seats at 8:25. If this is how they handle crowds they are not ready to host major events. I don't like paying Ticketmaster prices then not seeing the whole show. Sound was good, but hardly redeems the rest of the experience. read more

Was they for the Bryan Adams concert. Worst place ever. Lights is terrible Over priced .seating is terrible unless you like sitting on the persons lap next to you. $4.00 for a regular size candy bar. The staff is rude and Ignorant. No toilet paper or paper towels in restrooms. Asked a worker if he could get them. Said in a very rude manner " WHEN I GET TIME" and walked away. Needless to say he never returned, I was cleaning the floors myself in the restrooms because toilet paper and paper towels were getting stuck to my shoes, my male companion that went with me said the mensroom was atrocious that there was urine covering the mensrooms floor, with no wet floor signs? Bugs flying around everywhere. When leaving saw most of the staff standing outside pointing at people and whispering, way overly priced for a place like that, would go to the Benedum and spend that money before I would ever return to UPMC events Center ever. Maybe lower your prices and get better staff that are not rude and do the job and the turn out would be better. Worst place I've been to in years. read more

What a mess! I attended a concert here and although the concert (Sara Bareilles) was fantastic, this venue is anything but. First of all, the traffic getting there is beyond description. For a 4000 seat arena, I never thought I would be in traffic outside for almost an hour. The parking is indeed free but it's a "you get what you pay for" situation. The parking is on the RMU campus but nowhere near the venue. Upon arrival at the venue, hundreds were still outside because security lines were so backed up--and it was 30 minutes after ticket time by the time I walked in the door. I was not running late either. This was all due to traffic control. While inside the actual venue, Nothing is marked very well and I didn't see a merch table or where concessions were located although I know these areas must exist. We were just told to keep going directly to our seats and several areas were blocked off. My friend and I have been to many concert venues and agreed this one was by far the worst. In order for me to ever consider making the trek here from suburban Cleveland again, it would have to be an artist I have never seen before, that I am dying to see and have literally no other way in which to do so. I give the venue 2 stars instead of one only because I did like the size of it and it seemed like all seats would be decent. However, that's not nearly enough to get me to come back. read more
