Half a bottle of wine is perfect!
    Gabby B.

Half lobster! Yes please! Came here for dinner on a Sunday night with my boyfriend cause we were craving Portuguese food. The restaurant is located in a small plaza with plenty of parking which is nice. Don't be fooled by the outside appearance because once you step inside you are nicely surprised by the super cute decor and how cozy and nice the place is. The waiter was very nice and attentive and recommended some entrees since it was our first time dining with them. There was so much to choose from because everything sounded so good. They even had a specials menu with very reasonable prices. They had a lobster dish special that was only $30! Wow! They gave us complimentary olives and warm bread with butter which was also really nice. We decided on wine because a half bottle was only $12! That was perfect for the both of us! We got the soup of the day which was kale with sausage and it was so good! There were big chunks of sausage and the delicious broth was perfect for a cold winter night. My boyfriend went with their sea bass which was a whole fish and it was nice and flaky and super yummy. I think the star of the night was my fegioda mariscos dish. The seafood and lobster looked amazing and tasted amazing! I especially enjoyed the red bean broth it paired well with the shrimp, mussels, clams and lobster! We were stuffed but satisfied by the end of our meal and wished we had room for dessert because the three options they had also sounded very good, but there's always next time! We will definitely be back!

Back at Adega in Woburn , this time with my Portuguese‑friend recruit. She dove into the grilled octopus, I savored the Terra e Mar, and my other Azorean friend fell in love with her Arroz à Valenciana. Every dish seasoned to perfection. We kicked things off with cod cakes and wrapped up with a dessert trio : mousse cake, flan, and tiramisu to share. Adega is owned and operated by a chef born in Madeira, and that heritage shows in every bite. This place now officially reigns as the king of authentic Madeiran Portuguese flavors. It truly tastes just like Mom's cooking. One of my must‑go spots for food that feels like home.

My Portuguese friend had been encouraging me to try Adega Restaurant, a small Portuguese restaurant in Woburn, so we (a group of 4) decided to go together. I tried calling ahead to make a reservation, but they only accept walk-ins. From the outside, it's not the most appealing place, but I'm glad I didn't judge a book by its cover. When we arrived, we put our name on the list, but it took about an hour and a half of waiting outside until a table for four opened up. There were a few empty tables for two at different times, and we suggested pushing them together, but the staff refused, saying it would block the way. Every time we went inside to check our status, the waiter seemed to forget that we'd already been waiting for a while and would ask if I wanted to get on the list -- which made me wonder if people were skipping ahead of us. Some flexibility or creativity from their side would've been appreciated, but my friend assured me the food was worth the wait, so we powered through. The one good thing about waiting was having enough time to study the menu and plan our meal. We started with a pitcher of sangria for the table, which was sweet and refreshing, but it tasted more like juice and lacked a punch. We ended up switching to a bottle of wine and abandoned the pitcher. For appetizers, we ordered the flaming kielbasa (linguiça a bombeiro), cooked tableside, and the pastéis de bacalhao (codfish cakes). The kielbasa was delicious, and the codfish cakes were a pleasant surprise -- something I'd never had before. For the main course, we shared the octopus dish, which was hands down the best I've ever had. It was incredibly tender and packed with flavor. I also ordered the Adega beef for myself, which was covered in a rich, tasty sauce and served with broccoli and potatoes. While my friend said the potatoes could've been crispier, I enjoyed them as they were. For dessert, we went with a pan de nata cake, but unfortunately, it didn't hit the mark. My friend, who's from Portugal, was also disappointed. Overall, the food at Adega was fantastic with a couple of minor misses, but the service -- at least in the beginning -- left a lot to be desired. I'd definitely come back, but next time, I'll make sure to have a snack beforehand, and I'll skip the sangria and dessert.

Great seafood stew and rice - great portion size - fresh seafood- clams, octopus, lobster, calamari and mussels Broth is bold and flavorful Complimentary olives and rolls Portuguese red wine and beer Polite folksy service Parking in strip center Finished with homemade custard pastry drizzled with liquore

This place is legit. I traveled to Portugal about two year ago and fell in love with the cuisine. Since then I've made many trips to Fall River just to eat Portuguese food. So it makes me so happy to find a place closer to me that makes incredible Portugese food.

Some of the best red sangria I've had in a long time, the large pitcher is only $23

This update is several years later than I had intended but also a pleasure to write. I was happy to see Adega was still in business and even happier that the quality of the food (and now the service) are still excellent. Based on the food quality and the overall cost of our dinners, Adega remains a hidden treasure in Woburn. When seated, you're given a plate of olives and hot rolls with butter. The drink options have grown, now including some very reasonably priced pours of basic whiskeys and liqueurs. But you can't go wrong with the sangria, and getting a large pitcher for only $3 more than a medium pitcher is a no-brainer. Their red sangria is one of my favorites and some of the best I've had in years, with a very rich and "deep" flavor, large chunks of fresh fruit, and I'm guessing a nice pour of Triple Sec or some similar orange liqueur in it. We of course had to continue the tradition of the flaming linguica. It's not billed as flaming on the menu now, but it is, lit at your table, and it continues to get the attention of other customers as they pass by. The entrees were amazing. The taste of my bacon-wrapped scallops were exceeded only by their presentation (a hanging skewer), accompanied by flavorful rice and sauteed cabbage. The "rack" of lamb, accompanied by "seafood rice," was a pleasant surprise. This seafood rice was essentially a full order of seafood paella with the lamb on top. It was an amazing meal for the price paid, with enough left over for a second meal. The atmosphere here is very low-key and traditional, including the music, and of course soccer was on the TV. I guarantee it won't be another eight years before going back to Adega!

Stuffed lobster. Not fresh. Dont do it!
    Christian S.

Chef had a special "stuffed lobster/ lagosta recheada". Nothing in this plate tasted fresh. Everything tasted funny. Stomach upset 10 minutes after dinner. Would not come again. The port wine and Pasteis de Bacalhau was good tho.

    Grilled octopus highly recommend it
    Jeannette M.

Highly recommend the grilled octopus. Soft inside and great sear on the outside gives it a smoky flavor. Our waiter was awesome he was very nice and tentative. I had a girls night out with my girlfriend and we had an awesome quiet night to catch up. Highly recommend this place if you ever want a slow quiet night and don't want to cook but with great food.

Can't rave about this place enough! A lovely staff and definitely a hot spot of Woburn. Ambiance: Along the walls are decorated with antiquated memorabilia and little framed treasures of Portugal and Brazilian cities. Seems like much of the restaurant staff knows each other well, along with the patrons. Food: I wish my camera at the time captured the food as more picturesque. The lamb could be sliced off hanging from what's photographed here. The lobster and seafood fish was amazing. Potatoes always a solid way to feel overwhelmingly full and satisfied. Drinks: I had a fruity soda which I'm now blanking on. I didn't drink any alcoholic beverages, but my partner said the sangria was amazing!

She'd mapped out a perfect little afternoon and evening, starting with an indoor market that was full of local art and vintage charm. By the time we wrapped up there, we were hungry. With so many restaurant options around, we chanced it and landed here. The moment you step inside, you're hit with that scent of garlic and seafood. My kid and I gave each the 'look' that said: this is it! Casa Portugal is inviting and decorated in soft blues+whites giving a coastal feel and the service equally matched the energy perfectly: attentive and kind. Our plump and juicy shrimp in tomato sauce starter was rich and full of garlic. It was the kind of appetizer where you find yourself wanting extra bread just to sip up that garlicky sauce. For our main plates, my kid picked the grilled octopus, and I went with the sea bream. The octopus was "like butta," and had that perfect char on the outside but silky inside. My sea bream was nice and I particularly liked that they got rid of the head and tail for me. Both our man plates by the way- had a nice amount of potatoes and steamed vegetables. And here's another part that really stood out- pricing. For the quality and freshness of the seafood, everything felt reasonable. All in all, come to Casa P. for a good meal. From the moment you walk in and smell that garlic in the air to that last bite of seafood, it really delivers on every level.

We also ordered the appetizer, Chouriço Assado no Fogareiro (Grilled Portuguese Sausage). This came to us straight off the flame and was nice and hearty. I ordered off of the specials menu, Bacalhau com natas (Cod with Portuguese cream). It was very yummy, fresh fish and a light cream. It came with salad but I asked for rice. Instead of substituting the waitress gave me both and charged an extra $5...oh well. Salad was good and rice too. My boyfriend got the Filetes de Peixe (Fried fish filet with salad, rice & potatoes). He enjoyed his too! Those potatoes were yummy. We chose fish and most of the tables around us did too. We skipped on dessert although all looked great. This place was quite charming inside and definitely is an awesome place to enjoy dinner. It was busy so we were lucky to snag a table as it's not big inside. We did feel as this cooking was very homemade and although super tasty and lovely inside, I wouldn't consider it fine dining. I would revisit!

I got the seafood stew, my dad got the Mariscata, and my mom got baked haddock. They also have a good selection of non-seafood items, and a specials board with some other interesting options. I'm not a fan of squid so I thought I'd have to pick it out of the seafood stew, but they make everything to order, so they just made mine with more of everything else, which was great. My parents liked theirs, but I think my dad was secretly jealous that he didn't get the stew too :) Our waiter, Nick, whose family owns the place, was basically serving the entire restaurant all by himself. Granted, it's a small place, and about half of it is taken up by the bar, but it was still impressive. People recently wondered why Boston got nearly entirely shut out by the Michelin people (only 1…read moreone-star was given); among the places that were said to be in the running was Amar, located in a lovely space in the Raffles Hotel. We have been there twice, and I now will put my brief review. The take-home: if Boston, Raffles, and Amar think they deserve a star, they really need to up their game. I will get one thing out of the way very quickly: the food is spectacular and the wine service was excellent; these are not the reason for my comment. The simple truth folks is that a dining experience is not JUST about the food. It's about ambiance--which includes service and atmosphere, and that is where Amar just falls apart. It would be wrong to not recognize that the individual servers were quite nice and attentive. We had an 830 pm seating--hardly late in most cities, though one might suggest that in Boston that is on the later side (it really isn't folks). Regardless, by 1030-11 pm, the dining room was nearly empty on a Saturday night. At that moment, a server came over to us to alert us the kitchen was closing--which was obviously them saying "get out"--but soon thereafter the smell of cleaning fluid filled the air, and we realized there was a person cleaning the tables--with a cleaning cart, complete with mops, brooms, and cleaning fluid in the middle of the dining room. While people were seated and eating. This is a restaurant with a pricey menu and wine list, and I cannot remember a time when dining in a fine restaurant when something like this EVER happened. We found it funny at first, but while trying to eat our dessert and drink our final cocktails the smell of ammonia really ruined the final experience. In the end, once served with the bill, it was not funny. The bill was around $1000 for 4 people including a nice bottle of wine. So: expensive, nice individual service, good food. But the lack of awareness about how diners paying for an expensive meal feel being rushed, and then the utterly ludicrous presence of a cleaning cart in the middle of the dining room while people were still eating (I posted a photo) makes Amar a laughable memory but nowhere I'd go back to.
