The mani/pedi area is private and made you feel so pampered. We both had facials too. You could see the rejuvenation happen immediately. We needed a day just for us, and they made that happen. I had a wonderful experience here. I went during spa week with two friends for a - get this - 60 min facial AND 60 min pedicure for $50 TOTAL. Unheard of. And they were great! The salon is nicely decorated, but very tiny. Two of use were able to sit together during our pedicures (but they had to do one at a time) while the third was getting their facial. It worked out perfectly though. When I called to schedule the appointment, we wanted to schedule 3 people for 6 services consecutively on a Saturday during spa week. They weren't able to do it right away, but when I called back a little later, they had had a cancellation and saved it for me. It was so perfect! The women doing the services were welcoming and took us right away, even though we were pretty early. The services themselves were great. For the pedicure, they had this skin buffer that was AMAZING, that they used on us for free to let us see if we liked it. My feet were baby soft! And it was a local Boston product they were supporting, which I can definitely appreciate. The facial - I had only had one before but this was heaven. Everything smelled delicious, and it was so relaxing I even feel asleep for a few minutes somewhere in there. I was happy as a clam. I had an appointment yesterday for a Arasys session and 30 minutes of SudaTonic wrap. Grace was taking care of me & she was super friendly and knowledgeable. She explained everything thoroughly from how the machine works to the cream she was applying for the SudaTonic wrap. The inside was everything I expected from a spa. Have had several different services here over the last few years with Amelia and Lauren. I originally found them via a Groupon deal. I lived in the DC area and visited them several times a year when I found myself in Boston. They are friendly and professional and the services always met or exceeded my expectations. They always accommodated my odd schedule and my luggage as I was often stopping in on my way from the airport to the hotel. I recently relocated to Boston and Adara will continue to be my spa of choice. Great opportunity to support these classy ladies and their small business rather than a larger impersonal retail spa. Not my favorite..I went there with a Groupon. I received OK service for the money I paid no complains there but I would never go in to pay full price for their services. The pedicure was okay..she changed the shape of my toenails which I didn't like but now they are back to the shape they used to have (thank God it was in happened in the winter..) The facial - the service was okay but it was very loud. It wasn't meant to be a spa so it's a room divided into 3 rooms and in the other room they have a hair dresser. Think about getting a facial with a really loud hair dryer noise in the background + the customers talking. When I think of spa I think of silence, relaxation, nice soft music etc. not the sound of a hairdryer. I give it 3 stars because I only paid $50 for a pedicure + a facial for one hour each.. I've taken off a star because the EXACT same thing that happened to Sally's bangs happened to me! I went back to Adara and brought in pictures of the type of bangs I wanted and Luz agreed she could and would do them. They look nothing like the picture I brought in or like I wanted and I'm not really a fan of the cut I got in general. I gave myself a day or so to get used to it but I really just think I don't like it. I understand having to change things slightly for different hair types, but I brought in four pictures of heavy, long, round, dramatic bangs that included the majority of the front section of hair, brushed forward in a large section. Luz told me this would look good on me and that she'd do it and even pointed to the picture it would look the most like. But after the cut, literally a two inch section of my side part is short "bangs." You can barely tell. I can't brush it forward at all and it's nowhere near the length, thickness, style, or even just sheer amount of hair of the bangs in the pictures I showed. It won't grow out to the style in the picture, either - there's simply not enough hair included/cut out into the "bangs." My haircut is light, and summery, and other people are telling me it's fine, but I don't like it, it's not my style and it's not what I asked for, and I'm not good with surprises, so I'm very put off. I still love Adara, but be prepared to let Luz get creative on your hair - she does a great job and her cuts are quality, but she'll do what she thinks looks best, so if you don't like surprises, beware. read more

I went there this week for a manicure. Amelia was great! She took extra time and care, not like how it is in those shops at the mall. While she did take a few minutes longer, I didn't mind. I'd much rather have it done right than just fast. My friend also got a mani-pedi. The pedicure rooms were so cute and quaint! They even have curtains to give you more privacy. Great atmosphere. The prices were reasonable and parking was easy. I found parking on at a meter almost across the street. But they also validate parking at the lot right out in front. Added bonus: After you get your nails done, you can go out and let the sea breeze finish drying them as you stroll through Columbus Park, or go to lunch in the North End! I highly recommend Adara for a solo trip or one or two girlfriends (or boyfriends!). It's small, so they may not be able to handle large groups all at once and I wouldn't want anyone to be disappointed because I had a great experience and will definitely be back! read more

I have been to adara spa 2 times before and both on specials. The first time I got a mani and pedi for $20 and the second time I got a facial and a pedicure for $50. Apart from the good deals (considering the location right on the water) I really enjoyed the treatments themselves and the staff. The two women that work there own the business and are extremely sweet and kind. I felt welcomed the moment I walked in as they both greeted me and my friend. The facial was very relaxing and not as painful as they can me. The pedicure was comfortable and well done. Amelia and I spoke about so many things I felt like we were old time friends. I came here 4 years ago on the recommendation of a friend. It has been my favorite find in all of Boston. It is one of the few spas where the owners do all of the treatments and take pride in the services they provide. The facials by Lauren are by far some of the best I have ever experienced. Relaxing and my skin always looks amazing afterwards. Amelia does the nails and is amazing. They have great colors and I get a ton of compliments. Please note: this review is solely based on my experience with the Arasys treatment packages from Buywithme. The package was pretty cheap, and after googling the treatment, I decided to give it a shot. When I first called to make an appointment, no one answered, so I left a message. Didn't get a callback the next day, so I decided to call again, this time the therapist answered all my questions and concerns regarding the Arasys treatment and the sudatonic wrap, and recommended that I book my 3 coupons within a week of each other since this gives the best results. I told her I was going on vacation in late August, so she set me up with 3 appointments a few days before my departure flight. The people are nice enough.. the review below me seems to be right in that there are only two people who work there, which explains why the phone just keeps ringing sometimes. I went in for my first Arasys on a Thursday night--it was pleasant enough, I didn't feel too uncomfortable with the shock therapy and only lost 3/4 of an inch. She said I'd feel more difference the next couple of days but I have yet to really see a difference. Saturday I went in for another session of Arasys and the sudatonic wrap. The same therapist took care of me, and this time the shock went deeper than before and I still didn't really feel a difference. No measurement this time around, but we did take my weight and body fat percentage before the wrap. HOLY CRAP. I get the point was that you were supposed to sweat, but I thought I could have a nice nap during the wrap (which takes about 45 min) but woke up about 15 min before it ended just drenched in sweat. She came in to make sure I was doing okay and said the last 10 minutes were the toughest. After that was over, I was told to dry myself as much as I can, which wasn't very much considering I was sweating as I was wiping and the towel I was provided was soaked within the first 2 wipes. Then I applied this cream that was supposed to help break down fat cells (who knows) and not to shower or eat for the next 4 hours for the treatment to take effect. After my third treatment, I got measured again and it seems I have lost half an inch in every area, but I suspect that was because I had an early lunch and was pretty hungry at that point. Anyway, the service was great and I really appreciate all they do to take care of their customers, but I will never buy anything like this again. You can't cheat exercise. read more

I went here for a massage and facial. The therapists were nice enough, but the facilities were really lacking. To start, the walls don't go to the ceiling, meaning every word spoken, footstep on the ground, and cell phone noise happening in the entire spa is heard. It's the anti of relaxing. Second, it was freezing! I asked for an extra blanket, and all they had was the equivalent of a sheet. What spa doesn't keep tons of warm blankets on hand? Then I got the 'up-sell' pitch on both of my services. I didn't want to be talked into a pricier service. In fact, I get a massage monthly at spas around the country, and I was told I didn't know what Swedish vs. Deep Tissue was. There was a hard sell on getting me to pay more because I didn't want a light rub-down (their definition of Swedish). Lastly, the check-out process has some major flaws - tipping starts at 20% and goes beyond 40%! So if you have a bad experience, you have to make several clicks to get to a place where you can do a standard 15%. There are many other spas in the area that have better facilities for less cost. read more

As a small business owner myself, I disagree with what a few have said - putting blame or hostility on the owners for being overwhelmed by the success of their Buy with Me promotion. They were offering a very expensive service for a tiny fraction of the price, and it if was immensely successful, those that scooped up the deal will just have to wait. Sometimes you can't have it all! What choice do they owners have? I've heard them say that they're opening early and staying late to try and accomodate everybody. It's not like they can throw up a tent in the pakring lot next door and do services day and night. This is just what happens when items are in high demand! As for my treatments themselves - they were great! Ha - well, I wouldn't say arasys is GREAT, but they were veryy successful. So far, I've had two arasys treatments and one slimming wrape. Despite the chaos involved with all of the buy with me certificates, when I arrived it was a lovely and tranquil spa. The pace was slow (in a good way) and layed back and I didn't feel rushed at all. The spa seemed clean and modern and wonderful. I will return over and over again - and not just when I have a discount! read more

Perfector Non Surgical Facelift - a new treatment that is offered here. I decided to try it. I am a person that doesn't ever want to have a painful surgical procedure done to my face, and I thought this was the perfect solution to getting a little lift for my eyes, though the procedure can be done to any area of the face, including the entire face. It's a very soothing process: the cool collagen gel is applied and then your technician uses the device to apply gentle but effective pressure to the entire eye area. You feel a slight tingle here and there but nothing that is painful or irritating whatsoever. It almost felt like a massage for my eyes! You leave the collagen on all day which is well massaged into the entire eye area by the time the process is over. There was no redness, swelling, or bruising - things associated with other invasive procedures. There was a little bit of a sticky feeling that went away as the day went on and the collagen was absorbed into my skin. I suppose you could apply makeup shortly after if needed. I would ask the technician to be sure. I just wanted my face to reap the benefits of the collagen so I didn't wash my face until much later in the day. I will definitely go back for this treatment again read more

Expensive, careless and unprofessional. I got an eye infection there!! The facial was horrible, they used the same stuff they used for my face to rub around my eyes I have had many facials before and they never ever put the cream anywhere near the eyes. The "aesthetician" was either very inexperienced or careless.(Or maybe she was covering for someone else with childcare problems) In either case, I ended up with a nasty eye infection that took long to clear (besides a doctor's visit, a day off from work and the antibiotic ointment) I should have reported them to the Health department. Too bad I am too busy and have no time to waste on them anymore I am never going back. read more

I went to this spa recently for a massage and to try dermaplaning for the first time. The spa is small but cute, and they were able to take me right on time. My massage was great, even if there was quite a bit more talking than I'm used to during a relaxing massage. But, he knew what he was talking about and it was helpful to get some tips on how to avoid getting sore spots. My facial and dermaplaning were also great. My only complaint is that there are only 2 treatment rooms, and I had to move between them, but I was not given a robe or anything so I had to redress, undress, etc when switching rooms and it kind of killed my "relaxation" vibe. I think just providing a robe or something to use going between would be a nice addition if you're asking the client to switch rooms for the two treatments. read more

Everyone needs to come to this place! I went in November after running a marathon for a pedicure, and was pampered in a way I had never experienced before. There was tea and cranberry bread, and a relaxing bath for my feet and exfoiliants and buffers and such a nice atmosphere. I can't remember the person who did my nail's name, but she was so friendly and chill at the same time. The day I went was also spa day for the owners' families, which I think is so sweet! And I swear, the pedicure must have lasted hours! So worth the money! read more

I too purchased the arasys package from Buywithme. I was able to make my first appointment the following week after one of the staff called me back. Mind you I had to leave 2 messages. At the time, I was also a little miffed about having to call that second time and never reaching a human being until several days later when someone called back. Once I went in for my initial arasys appointment I understood the salon's situation a little better. Both times I have been there there has been only 2 therapists and the phone has been ringing off the hook! There is noone there designated to answer the phone and the girl said they pickup in between clients. By that time they may have up to 30(!) messages. I have had arasys by both women and they told me that they have been overwhelmed by the Groupons. They never expected such a response. Obviously a receptonist would solve all of this.. Its great to be able to speak to a human...especially when you have to wait 2 months for an appointment. Regardless, the service has been great. They are both very sweet, professional and knowledgeable about the arasys procedure and the wrap which was also a Groupon offer. I guess i'm writing to ask you to hold judgement until you have service there. Adara spa is tiny spa that is ill equipped to handle such a demand. Give them the benefit of the doubt... read more

I went here for their Collagen Facial which was okay. The salon itself is a bit rundown and not quite what I expected facilities-wise. The woman doing the facial was great about asking about any allergies and explaining more or less how things would go. Warning to anyone who is claustrophobic : this is NOT the facial for you. After all the creams are applied, your whole face is covered and wrapped with a plastic-like covering and then you sit for 30+ minutes. My skin didn't look as it normally does after a facial but that might be the collagen part of it. I wouldn't do this one again though. read more

I have been here several times for Shellac manicures with Amelia. She is so sweet and my nails always come out perfect! I have had plenty of Shellac manicures, they usually last almost 2 weeks on me, and this one was no different- it even lasted a little longer than that. I loved the color, Romantique. Feeling super relaxed thanks to Lauren & Emilia at Adara Spa. Customer Service is top notch - Warm & friendly on the phone and at the front desk. I wanted a last minute appointment and they were able to squeeze me plus I felt that my appointment was treated with finesse and care. Try the Coconut Body Butter Wrap - It's amazing! Perfect blend of exfoliating, moisturizing and a massage too. Lauren gave a great scalp massage which ended the treatment on an ultra relaxing note. Emilia, who did my Spa pedicure was detail oriented and made my toes look perfect. The Massage was also fantastic and worth paying a little more for. The spa room was very quiet for both pedicure and the wrap. Definitely an experience worth every penny. I highly recommend a treatment here. read more

This one is going to be tough for me... I went to Adara for a "head-to-toe" treatment (facial & mani-pedi) last week on one of my Groupons. Positive: very flexible on time. I have to reschedule several times and the earliest I could get there was 6:30pm which meant that I wasn't done until after 9pm. They were very pleasant about it and told me not to worry. Positive: nice atmosphere The place is def. small but it's very clean and has a nice decor Positive: mani & pedi Both very nice and thorough (I loved the big, round stones in my foot tub :-) ). The polish selection was good and my french mani held up pretty nicely which is usually not the case Then came the facial... that's when it gets hard for me to separate the positive from the negative. This was my first facial (ever) since I have pretty good skin that rarely gives me trouble; but since I had the money (or rather the Groupon) to spend I decided to give it a shot. Overall the experience was very relaxing, the massage was great, the extractions not too painful so it should have turned out to be a pretty positive experience... unfortunately that wasn't the case. Before the start of my treatment I mentioned that I have sensitive skin (so it doesn't react kindly to overly heavy creams/stuff with chemicals etc.)... however, whatever was used on my face did not agree with my skin at all. Based on what I heard from people who had facials, your skin is supposed to feel refreshed and invigorated after the treatment... mine felt kinda greasy and strangely tight at the same time. Then the next day it got REALLY dry, to the point of chaffing in some spots, tight and irritated. It's been almost a week and after daily masks of plain yogurt and aloe vera my skin is just starting to come back to normal... Never again. All in all, Adara is a really nice spot and I really hate to take stars off from my review but I just couldn't force myself to give it any more than 3* after when my poor face endured. read more

I really like the spa itself - super cute space-small, but they've done a really nice job with it. The exposed beams are an unexpected aesthetic and the owners are almost always on site. Scheduling can be difficult after the spa does a "specials" deal since there's only one Arasys machine. I've only ever done the Arasys and Sudatonic wrap (I've done Arasys alone & the combo) and when my package was up, I haven't been tempted to go back I did four treatments total and didn't see any results. If it worked, I'd gladly suffer the scheduling headaches, but since it didn't work for me, I'd rather just get my spa services somewhere easier to get an appointment. read more

I bought the Gilt City deal for a facial - it was just OK. She did a good job with extractions, but when it came time to get the mask, she left me alone in the room for about 15 minutes. I get facials a couple times a year, and I can't remember the last time the esthetician did not massage my hands or neck for at least a few minutes while the mask was on. All in all, OK experience, don't think I would pay full price for it though. read more

I got a facial and a mani-pedi last Tuesday at Adara Spa and both were so great that I don't even know where to begin my review. I got an Oxygen facial at an absolute steal because of the specials this season (please call and check them out!) and it was the most relaxing facial I've ever had. I was literally soothed to sleep by the massaging of my face, neck and shoulders. Even the extraction was gentle and that's HUGE for someone like me. When I woke up my skin was soft, supple and moisturized, and when I walked my face was tight, dry (to the point of being flaky) and my pores were extremely clogged. Not only did my face feel different, it looked different and now it's brighter and clearer. The mani-pedi was an absolute treat. I used to get manicures much more often, but I stopped because I felt like they were a waste of time and money. My problem is usually with manicures. The polish would usually chip within a few days. I'm typing this review a week later and my nails still look fabulous. This is after typing daily for hours, cleaning the house, swimming, washing dishes, doing laundry, setting up a yard sale, barbecuing, and washing my hands several times a day. I wish I could take a picture of my nails, because they have never lasted this long, and because I plan to keep the polish on for the rest of the week. I love Adara Spa. I went in before I flew home from a weekend trip to Boston and I really wish there was one near me. The ladies of Adara Spa are sweet, friendly, professional and extremely helpful. Adara Spa is less than 15 minutes from the airport, and while I left the spa in time to make my flight, I drove in the wrong direction. I didn't know who else to call, so I called the spa and was cheerfully directed to the airport and made my flight with a few minutes to spare. I'm looking forward to my next trip to Boston and I won't leave without taking a trip to Adara Spa. read more
