Best Ace store I've been to. They have everything that you can imagine, even the tailor's tape. And staff are incredibly nice and asked me if I need help with anything. I honestly should have gone here for the household stuff instead of Walmart. read more

This is a great hardware store. Not gonna lie, I always feel so intimidated walking into a hardware store. It's like, I have no idea what I'm doing with repairing my home, and get in my head at just how bad I am at home repair! But this is a place for people like me who are clueless. The staff is great at guessing at my vague description of what I need, my clueless explanation of what's going wrong with my pipes and my complete lack of knowledge of just about anything related to maintaining my home. Though, not gonna lie, I love the home decor section. Clearly, we know my priorities. But in the end, they're always very helpful no matter my home needs. Now only if I had someone handy to help with the items I bought. read more

Truly is the place with the helpful hardware folks! We made several stops here over the course of a weekend when we were preparing our condo as one set of tenants moved out and another was getting ready to move in. The ACE team helped us with: trash bags, mixing paint samples, several different types of batteries, cutting several keys, a lockbox, and more. Every single team member we encountered during those several visits was knowledgeable and helpful -- it made the whole process as easy as possible. read more

Today was the perfect day to explore the plant garden department, and I was thrilled to find the most beautiful plant in the store, just waiting for me to bring her home. The moment I saw her, I knew she was perfect and had to be mine. A big thank you to the store staff for their support and expertise in answering all my questions about the plants I was interested in. I felt so welcomed by everyone, which is a huge plus! This has quickly become one of my favorite stores--not just for plants, but also for essentials like cleaning and housekeeping supplies. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend this store to both locals and visitors in the Columbia Heights neighborhood! read more

The staff at location are incredibly helpful and go out of their way to assist every customer. It's also a great location to pick up planes- while they might have a smaller amount than some other locations they have a great variety of species and size for anyone starting out. The staff are always helpful in giving advice about plants you are interested in the store such as care guidance for your specific needs which is lovely. read more

I try to come in here once in a while because the plant section seems a little more extensive (and less expensive) than other plant stores. The staff is always a perfect score because they are friendly on the phone and in person. While not my closest Ace, I do prefer them a bit more than others because of how kind and helpful the staff are. I don't often need to come here for more than plants, but they do have a large selection of different things that are good for more handy people. read more

Employees helped me find everything i needed in the store. Very friendly environment. Came here for work related items, but wish i lived closer. Oh well........ i cant have everything. read more

I'm glad this place was here when I needed them, and it's one of the few actual hardware stores located in the city. We had recently purchased a home and I needed to have a key copy made because we only had one. Even though I rolled in minutes before they were closing, a cool employee was able to help !e out. I handed him the original, and he had the copy made in less than one minute. The other thing that I needed to get was a small container of spackle. The previous owner had left us with a few small nail holes in the walls, and my plan is to fill them. Today was my first time in the store, and I noticed that they carry just about everything that you could need for a house. From cleaning supplies, to an entire aisle dedicated to garden related stuff. Outside they have tons of plants and flowers, and I even saw a few pumpkins on display. read more

The staff is always incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, responsive, and kind. Great plants at a great price

This store really lives up to the company jingle! I went recently to get screws for a DIY project without knowing exactly what I was looking for. One of the store associates took several minutes to help me find some screws based on my project description and they were exactly what I was looking for! Additionally, I bought a present and the associate very kindly wrapped it for me without me even asking. Fantastic service and would highly recommend this ace for any of your hardware needs! read more

I get a bit nervous every time I go into a hardware store. Like, everyone is going to turn and look at me like I don't belong (and believe me... they would be right, I am not handy at all!) I was hosting a crafting party at my apartment (again, I'm not crafty either). So while everyone is knitting, and stain glassing, etc. I opted for a craft that's near and dear to my heart... wine cork keychains. It's simple to make, functional, and celebrates my love of WINE! I went in and had no idea what I needed. I explained what I was making and the staff guided me through my purchases with no judgment. I am happy to report, my crafting party was a success and folks loved my wine cork keychains. Thanks ACE for allowing me to ask silly questions and treating your employees so well... it shows because they are so darn nice all the time! read more

Y'all. Lawrence and the whole team at this location are phenomenal. Best customer service I have EVER experienced. Lawrence went above and beyond to help me with rusted screws on my old license plate. Just beyond kind and generous and wonderful. I'll never go anywhere else. This team is absolutely amazing. Thank you so much! If I could, I'd rate this place one million stars out of five. read more

I recently had a great experience with James R at this Ace and wanted to shout him out! I came into the store not knowing what I needed to fix a toilet paper roll holder. He let me take a few screws home and said I could bring back what I didn't need and pay at that time for what I had used. It was super thoughtful and felt like going to my small town hardware store where I was known and trusted. Thanks to James R and the great folks at Ace in Admo! read more

IF YOU GET A DISEASED PLANT, THEY DON'T REFUND OR REPLACE, unlike Home Depot. BUY PLANTS AT YOUR OWN RISK FROM ACE HARDWARE. I got this lovely plant that sat in my living room for a week because I needed soil to re-pot it. It's leaves started turning black. It was away from the sun, since I read that it doesn't like direct sunlight. Now it looked like Greyscale on Shireen Baratheon's face. And you know how she ended up... I brought it back the next week. The plant guy says they don't have a return/replace policy. He said something in my house could have diseased it, while it sat in my living room during those 7 days. And he said, "I wouldn't put anything on the store that had imperfections." But You Did Blanche! So I'm stuck with a $45 diseased plant that will likely die. I ADVISE NOT BUY PLANTS FROM THESE GUYS, UNLESS YOU ARE OK WITH THEIR NON-RETURN OR REPLACE POLICY. I wish they would tell customers this at checkout. BUY PLANTS AT HOME DEPOT INSTEAD. read more

The best part of living in Adams Morgan is having this hardware store. I moved in about three years ago and this place is my saving grace. I've gotten keys made here, bought a lock and actually had to borrow their lock breaker because I couldn't find my key. The people here are so kind and friendly and always willing to help you find whatever you need. My friend even bought a couple of plant holders for me as I was trying to develop my green thumb. I love when they put up seasonal items because it always get you in the mood for the holidays. They sell paint here and a lot of plants. I wish I could buy that green egg smoker, but my condo will not allow me to have that in the building. I also bought some light bulbs here and again really quick and convenient. No offense to the larger hardware stores, but the smaller the better customer service you'll find. read more

I was working on a repair project yesterday and stopped by Ace Adams Morgan to find some items to help me with a very challenging situation. I was in there 2 times and received wonderful, thoughtful and helpful customer service from a young associate, Alias. I had success with my project and could not be more pleased. He is definitely an asset to the Ace Enterprise. Further, along the same lines, there is another associate there who has been most helpful to me for the past year - her name is Marinda. She always renders pleasant, courteous, and extremely helpful customer service. Alias and Marinda are great representatives of a staff there that always tries to assist the customer in need. read more

Overall, I have to say the customer service experiences have been great. People are keen to recognize your presence and ask if you need help immediately upon entering the store and/or seeing you in for the first time. I've timed it where I go right when they open so everyone is always getting ready but I have yet to encounter a bad attitude. We have ordered insulation and have carted it home. They do paint match and could help us identify a good paint. Folks have helped us find air filters, joint compound, and brushes. For its size, the store is very well stocked. If items are not in stock, I think you can order them and pick them up at the store. I've also had good phone experiences as well. People speak clearly and provide information in terms of the products they carry and the prices they charge which is helpful. read more

Exceptionally kind staff who did not hesitate to ask me if I'm need of help. A gentleman offered me multiple options for the type of item I was seeking. He didn't come off as a "salesman," but as a friend who genuinely wanted to help. I've never had a negative experience here. The team at checkout was also very pleasant. I'm so glad to have Ace as the go-to place for hardware purchases. read more

Great local hardware store. Has almost everything you need which eliminates trips to the big box stores.

Convenient. Helpful, plenty of people working there, employee-owned I think, compact store but it has everything you could need.

This urban hardware store stocks a little of almost everything you could ever need. Don't see what you're looking for? Ask Lawrence, Dave, Scott, Ashley, or any one of the helpful staff. They can even give you advice on how to install or fix whatever you need. I recommend bringing in whatever you have questions on: the pipe that you need to find a fitting to, the pillow you want a paint to match, the broken door hinge you need to replace. It makes it so much easier to find the right item. If they don't stock it, they may be able to order it in a few days and will call you when it comes in. Enter your phone number when you check out and they will keep a record of your purchases in case you have returns (even without a receipt) or even need to re-order the same part but don't remember what you got the first time. read more

Friendly and efficient service today on an order by phone with credit card purchase. As instructed, we called when we arrived and waited in the distancing line on the sidewalk. Staff called out our item, dropped it in our bag and we were on our way. Thanks Adams Morgan Ace! Ok-one month later, called in an order and paid by credit card. On arrival, only needed to introduce ourselves to the staffer outside who radio'd in for us. They had a covered place to wait protected from the rain. Brought our bag out and we were on our way. Another friendly and efficient service experience. Thanks again! read more

Easy layout to the store with extremely helpful staff - no waiting around searching for someone to help you out here! I had stopped in in need of having two keys copied (for a total of 4 key copies) - and ended up making some repeat visits after one of the copies just would not successfully duplicate. It was a brass key, for the exterior door of an apartment building - no fault of Ace's, these keys are just sometimes REALLY difficult to duplicate! But their key policy is legit: they will remake that darn key as many times as it takes, or you can ask for a refund at any time. Of note: they key I had copied for my apartment door (interior of the building) worked like a charm on the first attempt! I noted this location also makes paint colors, sharpens knives, carries plants (LOVE) and all the other odds and ends that I've come to appreciate about a neighborhood Ace's. I wouldn't recommend trying to park here, as it's right on the busy street, but definitely a neighborhood gem that I will return to for all my odd little needs. read more

Hands down best hardware store in the area. Parking is tough, but when I need help, this is the place I come. As soon as you walk in the door, someone is asking if you need help. Good hardware store for home repairs stuff plus a great selection of basic and more unusual plants (mounted and potted staghorn ferns, air plants, citrus trees, I even spotted jasmine over the summer!), and lots of pots of all kinds. Staff are uniformly welcoming though the level of knowledge varies. The less knowledgeable staff are pretty good about referring you to someone with more experience though for more complex questions. Get their rewards card and you'll get a constant stream of coupons in the mail and via email. read more

I love the people who work here. They mix paint, cut keys, sharpen knives and know their stuff. I love going there and it's convenient.

I just moved to the neighborhood and as a new homeowner have the need to visit hardware store more often than I would like. So many little things that I need to fix and upgrade in my 110 year old "new" home. I have gone to many Ace hardware stores and generally like them as they are more local and friendly. Being a short walk from my house this place seemed like the perfect fit. After visiting this store multiple times I can say that they are friendly and usually helpful. Unfortunately, they are too small and just don't have enough supply. I wanted to replace all the outlets, for example, but they only had 5 in stock. They sent me to the Woodley park ace. I needed a filter for the ac system, again not in stock and needed to go to Woodley. O think they are a fine place for some small stuff and the staff is nice enough. However, don't be surprised if what you are looking for in not available. read more

Good luck getting a cashier....had $30 worth to purchase and at the register. Totally ignored, staff helping everyone but me....even the lady behind me in line. They don't want my $30? Fine they won't get my $30 in the future either. When I need a single nail.....never step inside this place again, I would rather drive into Virginia read more

Went in to ask for help in buying items I needed to repair a dishwasher. Laurence, the store manager, was AMAZING. When he did not have screws of the correct length, he set up an impromptu machine shop on the checkout counter and cut two screws to the correct length--and then filed them to make sure they would work. I think the sale was 22 cents--but the service was priceless. He also helped me find the right adhesive for the job--and, if this wasn't enough, brainstormed with me on another home improvement project. Thanks to Laurence and to Ace! read more

A great supply per square feet available with reasonable prices. Whenever I wonder where I might be able to find something in a pinch (Where can I refill my sodastream? Where can I find a nice planter? Books of matches?) they have what I need. Also, much indebted to the employee at this location who found my keys and returned them to me! Very grateful- thank you so much. read more

Super happy to have the store here, it's SUCH a convenient location, and they've done a lot to fit everything they can into the store's small footprint. They have a focus on customer support, and the staff are clearly trained to be as helpful as possible. There is always someone there to try and help answer any questions. However, the staff still seem to struggle to be helpful, even though they are clearly trying hard. They aren't that familiar with the type of things that hardware stores carry, maybe because they seem so . . . young. High schoolers? College aged kids? They clearly want to help, but they don't really know what an L-bracket is, or a door jam, etc. They also sometimes maybe lack a little common sense? I walked in one day, and standing in the store I found an employee and asked if they carried something (I forget what). The woman told me that they weren't open yet and asked me to leave. Turns out it was about 2 minutes til the hour. The door was unlocked to the store, lights were on, no "closed sign, I was already in the store, and she was asking me to walk out, wait in the rain for two minutes, and then come back in. Seemed a little silly at that point. read more

While Ace is a franchise, it's clear that the owner and staff here are very invested in the success of this store and the satisfaction of local customers. I am in here at least once a week purchasing home repair supplies. They are friendly, patient, and very helpful. I strongly recommend this store. read more

Very helpful staff who will take you to exactly what you need. For a store on the smaller side, they always seem to have what I need, even somethings I didn't think I would want but once I see it I buy it! They also make paint, cut keys, sharpen knifes, etc. read more
