Terrific experience - from making the appointment to getting the massage.. Walking in I was greeted warmly, treated professionally and felt good about the two appointments I made with a gift certificate given to me. I was given a reminder call previous to the appointment and when I went it I was impressed because I had forgotten the gift card, and it was no big deal for them - they let me call in with the number after I managed to crawl home. The massage - I had asked for DEEP TISSUE and a serious massage - I feel like a fluffy massage with no pressure is a waste of time. Blue is great. I knew I was in for it when I shook his hand with the Kung-fu grip, it felt like a piece of wood. Eighty minutes of serious deep-tissue work and I wobbled out feeling like I had gone a few rounds and taken the worst of it. Felt great after a little while and some water, and I have another appointment in two weeks. I also am not a fan of a therapists talking the entire service and was disappointed with that. Absolutely fabulous!! Scheduled a massage for my mom for her birthday and a facial for me. I had Joyce and it was for an hour. Probably one of the most relaxing hours of my life. The atmosphere was warm, inviting, clean, professional and great service. The massage bed table was warm and the facial experience was amazing! You could tell she took pride in her work and took her time. I didn't feel rushed and she was gentle with my skin. The products smelled refreshing and nothing was too harsh. Visiting Anchorage and my boyfriend and I decided we wanted massages. Found this place and booked a massage for the next day. We got an hour couples massage - $185.. VERY reasonable. We got their around 4:15 and they quickly had everything moving. We were given shoes to slip into and were brought to the massage room. My boyfriend's massuist was Edna and I had a younger guy with brown hair (forgot his name). They were FANTASTIC! my boyfriend has been having lower back pain/back pain in general and I was having neck/shoulder pain and always love a good, hard massage. When they first brought us into the room, the massuist asked me what I was looking for and what areas I wanted targeted.... I LOVE THAT. I've been to many places where I was never asked those SIMPLE, but important questions so I always would leave disappointed and feeling teased in my massage.... not this place! I love deep tissue and that's exactly what he did. An hour of bliss. After the hour they had pomegranate infused sparkling water waiting for us. Oh my gosh the massage I received here was fantastic. Innessa is an outstanding LMT, and the massage itself was a five-star massage. The facility was clean and pleasant, the staff were very courteous, and they were able to get us in day-of. All plusses. The only reason I'm not giving the spa itself five stars is that I think the prices are a bit high for the amenities available. I've paid comparable prices at spas in the lower 48 where they have showers and saunas available, along with complimentary snacks. It's really nice to have the option to wash the massage oil off before moving on with your day. Adagio is a lovely facility but very small, without many bells and whistles. I would not have a problem at all with the level of the amenities if the prices were scaled back accordingly. That said--I was very happy with our treatment. You must make an appt. so maybe because, I have so many things to do when I am in Anchorage I have put it off. Oh I am so very Thankful that I finally went here. My experience was divine. That truly is the best way to put it Divine! My appt. was at 9:00am. I came in and was greeted right away and given lovely open toe slip ons. So you take off your shoes and leave them by the door and go into your room right away. I had chosen a package, a very nice one too for only $185.00 .It was 120min time session. My lady was Inessa, she was amazing. So soothing when she spoke. She explained everything to me that we were going to do and the order we would do it. She was a tiny petite lady ,but very strong with the massage. There were candles and lovely music, as well as lovely smell of essential oils. After my my massage I had a scrub down with pumpkin and cinnamon, it smelt good enough to eat. After that you shower and then you get a mud mask all over your body. While you wait for that to set ,you get a facial. When you wash all of that off you are covered in a wonderful pumpkin moisturizer cream. It was Heaven, my skin felt so soft and I felt like a completely new person. They have an entire range of services. Each is performed with pure products. The shop and rooms are very clean,I mean spotless! They do not try to push you to buy things you don't want. They even provide free parking. This is a hidden gem across from the Captain Cook hotel. I'm from New York and get regular massages whenever I travel but my massage with Inessa was the best I have ever had! She was able to get all the tension out of my neck and shoulders (super helpful after a cross country flight). She is very knowledgable about her field, she was very thorough and very friendly. The location of this small spa is nestled in the corner of Captain Cook near Fletcher's which is convenient to me as I stay at Captain Cook while in Anchorage. Sherie informed me of their new products and let me know that I would like this product over previous products used. As I mentioned she accommodated my needs.....she came in on her day off and one time she was gonna schedule my appointment after my meetings which was not normal business hours......so customer service is A++!!!!! read more

Best. Ever. As soon as I walked through the door until the moment I left, I felt pampered. The receptionists were so welcoming, kind, attentive, & helpful. The spa is small, calming, & clean. I had a swedish massage & a hydrolessence facial on two separate days. Both were so amazing I can almost not put into words. The massage was tailored to relieve my tight back muscles and my massage therapist even took the time after the massage to show me some stretches to help relieve tension. The facial was the perfect blend of warm & cool. Despite blackhead removal being slightly uncomfortable as to be expected, the following treatments & face massage relieved all discomfort - leaving my face calm, relaxed, & refreshed. Had a deep tissue massage. Was fantastic. That was the only good thing about my appointment. I usually go to a different spa for services, however, my boyfriend wanted me to try a new spa. (He gets me gift certificates for whatever occasion) I like to go 15 - 20 minuets, change and have coffee or tea. When I arrived they had the doors locked up until right at my appt time. And when I walked in the lady was rushing to get things ready. The bed was cold and I was cold pretty much there entire time. A blanket warmer or heavier blanket would have been nice. After my massage she asked me to put a robe on to move to the next room, right after I got the robe on I can see the masseuse duck and peek through the frosted glass in my room. Which was odd, then she knocked and said I can stay in that room. Mary who did my green energy peel was sweet. But was scrambling to get everything out for my peel. Went over extremely fast the steps I needed for routine care after my peel. This is where I was the most upset, I was told I had to purchase two different items for after my Peel. This either should have been included in my price or I should have been told when I scheduled this, also written on the website. Which I read prior to booking this and no where on their website did it say I must buy these products. I told Mary how I felt. She said she understood and that we were going to make it work. I also told her I can only get one item that day. After my peel was done and at check out she had 3 bottles of product I had to buy or else my peel would not have been worth it. When I told her before she started I can only get 1. Never in my life have I been told "I need to buy" products after any peel or treatment. I have had laser fractal and multiple other peels and facials. She was nice enough to look around for samples. Was about to give me samples of one product but because she had to scrap around to find a jar for moisturizer she didn't give the other. Which I'm ok with but checking out I just wanted to leave the uncomfortable situation so badly. I found the one product I paid $60 for on Amazon for $45 and paying $60 for something I'm only using for 5 days is insane. Also on the website or when you schedule your peel does it say you cannot wash your face for 5 days seems to be another important detail. My boyfriend bought gift certificates because they got good reviews but never again nor would I recommend this place. read more

I was in town with my boyfriend, staying at the Captain Cook Hotel, and I wanted a little pampering. Adagio is right across the street. Anastassia, the owner, personally gave me a manicure when her employee missed her shift (miscommunication). My nails are impeccable and she was very sweet. I went back the next day for a pedicure (I didn't have time the first day), and a massage. The massage by Inessa was incredible. I was so impressed, and I think she even gave me an extra 5-10 minutes of work (my shoulders are a nightmare lol). It was almost an emotional experience, no joke. Like another reviewer, I thought the mani-pedi costs were a little high, but it is a spa and you get a very different atmosphere than if you are in one of those nail places where the girls are trying to turn you around quickly. You get personalized service, tea, and you don't feel like just a number. I would definitely go back for the massage, next time I am in town I will surprise my guy with a couple's massage. I would probably think twice about the mani-pedi, unless Anastassia does it herself. read more

I received a gift certificate for this spa and had never heard of it. I walked in and was greeted and sat comfortably waiting for my appointment (I was a it early). I was getting a 60 minute deep tissue massage and a bikini wax after (in retrospect, I should have done that first AND THEN relaxed. ha) I've never had a deep tissue massage and I jokingly told her not to hurt me. She let me know that I should tell her anytime if it was too much. It wasn't. For such a petite woman, she sure has the strongest hands. From the tips of my toes to the top of my head, that woman hit every muscle, joint and nook and cranny. It was amazing and I will be going back-- for a more relaxing and gentle massage. :) As for the bikini wax.. it's always a kind of self-conscious thing to do but Chastity was AMAZING. Friendly, funny and made the whole thing as enjoyable as a bikini wax can be. It will be my new go-to place for such things. read more

Came here for an anniversary couples massage. We waited for 20 minutes after our appointment was scheduled and nearly walked out because we were clearly being ignored. As we were waiting we heard one of the masseuses complaining LOUDLY about how unhappy she was that she had to stay late to make our appointments that day. The operator/owner was talking to her and reminded her to be professional. We heard this and were horrified- who wants to spend their anniversary with a clearly upset service provider? We started to walk out but they caught up to us and asked us to stay. With a heavy dose of hesitation we stayed and completed the service. It was horrible. She didn't take the time to properly cover me and my chest was exposed more than once (which feels incredibly unrelaxing), didn't take the time to do a thorough job for the extra services we paid for (an add on foot scrub lasted about 1 minute?), and clearly was rushing because she was just trying to get out of there. WORST experience I've ever had. Plus we were charged extra for having the services done together in the same room- it was like $25 or $30 extra? Really guys? I have waited over a year to write this review because I wanted to make sure I still felt this way after a period of time. I would avoid this place, there are so many better choices, where they appreciate their staff and are professional about their business and services. read more

This is my second time ordering a couple's massage with Adagio Day Spa. The deep-tissue massage was part of a gift for my hubby's birthday in October 2014 as well as October 2015. I found this place through Yelp and read through the different reviews of this spa located in Anchorage. In both appointments our spa experiences were great. As soon as we arrived to our appointments, we were greeted by the front desk. We were given a pair of comfy sandals to wear while we wait for our appointment. Our first-time at this spa, Ben and Innessa were our masseuses (I had Ben and my husband had Innessa). Both were very warm and welcoming. They asked us questions about what we would like them to work on and what kind of pressure we would like. I really liked that they asked because some masseuses are not knowledgeable in their line of work so the massages are not therapeutic or helpful at all. The spa room was decent sized with the beds sort of next to each other. They left our room so we can get undress and go under the cover. I thought Ben did a terrific job on my shoulders and back. My husband described his massage was pretty good. They also worked on us for the hour we paid for. After the massage, two glasses of sparkling juice and chocolates were waiting for us. Can't complain about that. Our second time at the spa, I also had Ben again but my husband had a different masseuse (can't remember her name). Again, Ben was great and my husband said his masseuse was pretty good too. Same routine as two glasses of sparkling juice and chocolates were waiting for us.
