It's a mill. Dr. didn't fully explain my diagnosis. One eye treated with laser surgery (thus the 2 stars) and an appointment for the other eye was scheduled for the next week. My intuition led me to seek a second opinion, before the 2nd visit. SO happy I did. Experience with the other Dr. was 100% better. Do yourself a favor, do not go to the LaQuinta office. I am in serious disbelief on how this place is open and running. First off the receptionist is rude and talks with an attitude. Next the way this office is set up makes no sense. They have you jumping back and forth from room to room to take all these different pictures of your eyes. My mom is in a wheelchair and trying to not only get from room to room a challenge but they are giving us attitude because my mom needs additional accommodations to be able to take the tests. The rooms are outdated and have face masks just thrown on the floor to which then the MA picked them back up and put them on the table for use. Next there are no doctors on premises. The exam is conducted online via a video call. It just seems super impersonal to be able to do the exam like this. I called to make an appointment and told the person doing the scheduling what insurance I have and asked for a specific doctor. He was unavailable in the time frame I needed, so they assigned a different doctor for me (Vitaly Zak). It turns out that this doctor is OUT OF NETWORK for my health plan. Why would they assign a doctor who they KNOW is out of network? Now I have a crazy bill due to their laziness/incompetence. Not only that, but this doctor was useless. He spent about three minutes looking at my eyes and gave me no documentation afterwards. I will never use this business again and recommend that you avoid them too. read more

Laura takes the time to listen and goes the extra mile to make sure you are happy with your glasses. Beautiful place with a large reception area. Staff seems very nice and would give 5 stars, but their restrooms (which have the capability to be comfortable) is nasty! Toilets are dirty, No toilet paper (okay maybe a couple sheets left on a roll that's not even the dispenser, which has probably fallen 100 times). No seat covers in one stall and No paper towels to dry your hands with the empty soap dispenser I tried to use. The walls are dirty as well as the area on and around the toilet seat! The people they use to stock and clean this restroom should be retrained! read more

I went in for a long-overdue prescription change. My glasses came back, but they weren't right. They advised me to give it a couple of weeks for my eyes to adjust. Still not right. I took them back. Technician said I was out of warranty. I was not. Once again. Give my eyes time to adjust. My eyes are never going to adjust to their prescription. I now own a pair of glasses I will never be able to see with. These people are cheats. Beware of using them. read more

It was June 2/2024, I began steps to schedule cataract surgery by Dr. Alireza Ghaffarieh. Due to miscommunication, unreturned phone calls or worse yet, Acuity Eye Group not answering the phone on their end, my surgery didn't happen until 11/7/24. As my appointment date approached, I never heard from Acuity Surgery Center. I phoned the office to confirm and receive surgery instructions to no avail. The phone was never answered and when it was, it was from India. I had to drive to the surgery center in order to get the time and instruction for my pending surgery. At this time, I found out that I was supposed to be taking eye drops 6 days prior to surgery. I was never told this and when it was discovered, the receptionist said it would be ok and they would call in the Rx and for me to begin the drops even though my surgery was scheduled for the following day. I asked to hear it from the doctor and was told they would check on it and for me to not "over think" it. The day of my surgery was like a conveyor belt. I must say the surgery was painless and I believe the doctor did a good job. The follow up visits were a bit hectic as Acuity Eye Group LaQjuinta has several locations and they forget to tell me that. So I went the next day for my exam only to be told I was in the wrong office.....I needed to go to the end of the block and check into that office...once there I was told to go to the office upstairs.... Very confusing. At the end of my office visit, I tried to share my experience with the doctor who didnt want to hear about it. My conclusion: I think the people at Acuity Eye Group, LaQuinta, have perhaps become desensitized to the patient experience. Cataract surgery was something new to me. It would have been a better experience if phones were answered, information was forthcoming in a timely manner. I don't plan on having my other eye done with Acuity and I recommend anyone considering Acuity to think twice. read more

I've had it with Acuity Eye Group. Last fall in the Palm desert office, they did an eye exam for progressive lenses and they have yet to get the flow correct. The prescription also felt too strong so I went back in December of last year they did another eye exam, corrected the prescription, and still the flow of vision is not right. I decided to try the LaQuinta office and arrived there today for my 10:30 AM appointment- that was confirmed via text-only to be told it's at 12:40 PM today. I took off work for only a limited number of hours so had to return to work without being seen. Let's just say that was the last straw. There are plenty of other providers in this Valley and I'll be seeking services elsewhere! read more

Know this: Visual Acuity will stall on your cataract surgery as long as they can. The downside to that is worsening glare from night driving that places you at severe risk of an accident. As a health professional, I am appalled at the lack of attention to this aspect of care. UCI Medical Ctr. is taking care of it. Also, if you have glaucoma, you will be managed but never sent to a glaucoma specialist. I would suggest that you budget and consider changing insurance to a supplement that will ensure you the best care. Dr. Fox is the specialist at UCI and the care is the best. We made an appointment for our friend who is 91-years old; we took her on Wednesday May 7, 2025. She has dealt with other doctors here as she is dealing with macular degeneration. She began experiencing serious systems, so an appointment was made to see Dr. Michael Samuels. We did not read other reviews as our friend felt this was the place to go to get help. Sadly, the appointment with Dr. Samuel was as unprofessional as you can get. By the time she went through the various rooms for testing, Dr. Samuel came in and did not address her, nor look her in the face. Looking down he said "I cannot help you" and turned to leave. Our friend called out to him asking for more information. He was dismissive and told her she could get what she needs at any pharmacy. It may be that he could do nothing to help our friend. But the manner in which he relayed that information stinks! As a trained doctor he should know that a cold shoulder response to a patient is unacceptable. Management should reprimand him, but they won't. Acuity Eye Care is a factory mill; get them in and get them out. They've done that to me, as well. There may be good doctors there but its the luck of the draw when you go. Some reviews are glowing of the doctors; others are not. We hope your experience will not be like the one our friend experienced and that we felt ashamed we took her there. read more

Overall, the place is great, staff is carrying and knowledgeable. I just had my yearly diabetic comprehensive eye exam in January, so i paid my $30 copay thinking that since I'm in network and I have vision insurance (VSP) and Anthem Blue Cross for (medical), everything will be covered. Over the next few months, I received a bill from the facility stating that my eye exam was billed to my medical insurance instead of using VSP for vision. I called VSP and they said that the same service should been 100% covered since the facility accepts VSP insurances. I called their billing department, and they said that my test falls under medical . Well, my medical insurance does not cover eye exams. i tried to dispute their argument since i was not ware that the facility would not be using my vision (VSP) insurance for my service. Now, I'm responsible for the payment. FYI be aware of your medical billing statements... best of luck everyone... read more

Finally actually spoke to someone that says they don't carry this brand anymore??? 3 weeks after I bought them??? She said she would ask her manager if they could be ordered, 2 weeks and 3 phone calls later, no response. I am my mothers legal advocate and am writing this review as I had a personal exchange in the office with the incompetent Dr. Murphy today. In short if you are a person of color expect to be treated as though you are irrelevant. If you have medicare expect to have your appointments pushed around be bounced around to different doctors and to be treated differently because your insurance is not a PPO. This review is lengthy as I have A LOT to say about how horrified my mother and I are at the mistreatment and unprofessionalism of Dr. Murphy. Read below on how this office overbooks patients amidst the pandemic. NOT SAFE. The doctor was also not wearing a mask when I was having our little chat. If Yelp had a zero rating I would give Dr. Murphy zero stars. Dr. Forrest Murphy is an incompetent, uncommunicative RUDE optometrist who lacks personal follow up with his patients not to mention transparency. My mother had a procedure a week ago, I am her advocate for reasons specific to these sort of instances. Dr. Murphy told my mother that she would have a 15 minute procedure and in his words compared her procedure to that of "it's like cleaning your eye glasses", he told her recovery would be three hours which her procedure was a four hour long procedure and her recovery is still ongoing with complications that will have my mother seeking care with another optometrist not affiliated with this group. Over the weekend (five days post her procedure) my mother was experiencing blurred vision, in her words was seeing "milky white" and she complained of seeing circles on the eye that Mr. Murphy worked on. my mother also has a creamy white substance coming out of the corner of the eye which is not like that of rheum "cry". I phoned the office emergency line and spoke to the on call doctor, Dr. Mancias I discovered that my mothers follow-up appointment was not with Dr. Murphy but with another doctor in this group. Why would Dr. Murphy push my mother off to follow up post-op with a doctor who has never worked on my mother is showing a complete lack of ethics and bedside manner with his patients. I appreciate Dr. Mancias assistance in booking my mothers post-op follow up with Dr. Murphy which I accompanied my mother to today's appointment. Post the procedure my mother was horrified while going through her post-op paper work and found she had an implant card in the papers that they discharged my mother with, Dr. Murphy never explained this to my mother. Her vision is not doing any better than prior to this incompetent man having touched her eye. My mother cannot read, the doctor is now telling her not to use readers so she cannot read, Dr. Murphy told her to not use the eye that has not had the procedure without an explanation or given a duration of time before she can. Today Dr. Murphy was rude and defensive upon my mother questioning him on the implant that was not discussed, I was not in the room but was waiting in their second waiting room where I had view of the room they were in. Dr. Murphy stormed out of the room and my mother followed behind with tears in her eyes. Dr. Murphy knew I wanted to speak to him, he knew I was waiting and completely ignored me while quickly rushing to his office, I quickly followed him and confronted him. He literally called my mother a liar, claiming he had explained the procedure and denies and responsibility. My mother is one that rarely speaks up and is non-confrontational, I on the other hand am tired of the mistreatment of our elders especially those of color. PLEASE DO NOT SEE THIS DOCTOR. I have to add to this my mother had issues with the front desk and their lacking to verify insurance and three days prior to her first original scheduled procedure they canceled on my mother which was an inconvenience as my mother had to block time out of her work schedule for this procedure and rearrange her schedule due to Acuity Eye Group front desk staff. My interaction with Dr. Murphy did not pan out so well for him and I did make it CLEAR of how unethical, poor bedside manner, mistreatment of patients especially elders, his lack of transparency would be CALLED OUT! ALSO regarding COVID this office overbooks their patients. The first waiting room was full of folks some of which were not practicing social distancing, the second waiting room was full as well and the third waiting room in the back near the patient rooms was the only space that I was alone. I was sent to this place for cataract surgery with Dr. Alden . The surgery went well it's the post surgery that totally sucks . I'm a real patient guy and this place is not good with following up on eye care . I ordered my glasses thru them in January which came in February. I had to get some insurance paperwork filled out which they said they will call me after completed - no call back - paperwork missing - I had to get my glasses repaired already which they said they also will call me wen info on my glasses came in for repair. No call again - so I decided to come in for service. What happens - nobody here to help - they're all out for lunch . Caring professional and clean. Dr. Schultz and his staff did an excellent job diagnosing my eyes. I have glaucoma and my right eye also has a full cateract. He went over my medical history and encouraged me that he will help save my eyesight. Because of the cateract we can't see the extent of the glaucoma damage in the right eye but I have hope and am grateful to find an experienced doctor. His staff were amazing and capable.
