UMM, can EVERY city have one of these!? I went to visit my brothers in Arlington, and we drove up to Plano to spent 75 minutes at Activate. I didn't know what to expect, but the staff was great at explaining the concept. I'd come here all the time if I was local. You check-in and get a wristband, which is used to activate and join various mini games throughout the facility. These rooms are SO high tech. Apparently the concept originated in Canada. Each room is grouped by setup type, and you use the touchscreen posted right outside to see if it's occupied, join a session, and start the game. Each game has various levels. It's so great for team building and honestly fantastic exercise. There's also a giant leaderboard so you can get competitive!

This is a MUST!!! I've been twice and it's great for grandkids and grandparents. Wear tennis shoes, stretch and go make some memories!

If you're looking for a fun activity to move around and is not centered around alcohol, I would recommend this for adults. You get around 75 minutes to play around in each room and pick your game. I would say that this is something unique I've never tried before. The games are pretty self-explanatory. You stand in front of a screen and you get to pick your challenge. It tells you how to play and after it tells you how many points you received for that game. There's also a running total on the screen of how everyone else in the room is scoring. The only side to this is if there are a lot of people going at the same time, the rooms will fill up and you don't have a chance to level up within each room. You have to come back to it at a later time when the room is available. .

First time at an Activate and had a blast! It was pretty busy for a sunday afternoon, and there were lots of groups of friends and families. When you walk in, there's a check in area where you are provided with wristbands. You can then activate them in the same room, and they give you one locker for the whole group. The lockers is pretty spacious for several purses/fanny packs. When you enter the game zone, its very dark with about 10 rooms of games. There was a worker who greeted us when we first came in, and she explained how each of the rooms work and what to expect. The longest our group had to wait was about 1-2 minutes, usually it was about 30 seconds. Each room can also only fit a maximum of 5 players, but you can switch out players if you have a larger group and play in smaller groups! For $30 for 75 minutes, it was a really great deal! I felt like a kid again! Really enjoyed that most of the rooms and cooperative or competitive modes, so you can switch up the games in various ways. There's also levels for each room, and you can come back to advance more levels. I'd recommend wearing athletic clothes and sneakers because some of the games require you to run.

Friday November 2023 1:30-2:30 2 players - $54.10 Printed receipts aren't available at present. We did a walk in, since they didn't have anyone there during that time. I would not advise this if you're driving a distance. Front desk is friendly. Check in there, give your name, phone number, and email address. Receive your acríbate wristlets (which help you scan into the games). After you pay, visit the tablet wall to register and choose your name for the games, and sign waivers etc. Once you're inside, there's an employee who is supposed to be there to help. He seemed like he didn't want to be there- like he was reluctant to assist. Even at the end when I asked what to do with the bracelets- just to make sure- he explained and then said "you return them." Maybe it was his persona, but I didn't want to talk to him or ask him anything else. Anyway- there are several rooms that you can choose from. One room- the laser room - was NOT available. Ugh. We scanned in and walked in- pitch black dark. How it works: The screen has 3-4 games to choose from. Click the name you're curious about. Click "how to play" and it'll read directions on how to play. This is located outside of the room. Exit out of the instructions, then scan your wristband. Your names should appear on the screen. Then, you click "level 1" and start. It'll summon you to enter the room (Go!). Over the intercom, you will hear instructions. There will be a button on the wall that you may have to click to start games, advance to the next level, or replay. At the end of a failed game, the intercom announces you have 10 seconds to leave or hit the flashing button to replay. The doors are locked from the outside while your game is playing. I LOVE THAT. you can exit anytime though. Bathrooms are around the back. One toilet. Unisex. There's also water / filtered water and cups at the back by the bathrooms. Stretch before playing. You have one hour. Ladies wear your tight, secure sports bras and athletic wear. Ponytail too! 1 hour to play. Your bracelet deactivates afterwards. Return the bracelet and receive your QR code keychain. With your "points" Would return.

First of all, plan to get active in activate. This place is a great place for a lot of interactive mainly physical and even mental games. There's a bunch of rooms all equipped with different types of games. There's a big screen to keep up scores and a leaderboard for tournaments. An arm band is used to scan into the multiple games. Some rooms have a competitive aspect and all rooms have cooperative. Personally, I think the competitive portion is where the real competitive juices start coming out, but cooperation is where the points accumulate if you want to be on the leaderboard. They even give you a little keychain, so it can keep up with your profile. Most rooms are maxed out at 5. Bathrooms are clean, workers were very helpful in explaining how the rooms work, and it wasn't too chaotic in there. Overall, it's tons of fun. I'd definitely go back again, but maybe not on a weekend since it was so busy. If someone is waiting outside, you'll probably have to leave after one or two sessions of playing the game, and sometimes playing the game the first time is a learning experience. If you have a color deficiency, it might not be the best place to go. Smoke free!

I learned about this place awhile ago, but shockingly, they don't have a location in CA. I really hope they bring some there soon!! This place is either a really great workout or a total mind exercise (probably both on certain games). I'm also glad the price is much more reasonable than the nearby escape rooms. I think I'd rather get my fun cardio in here

My first experience at Activate was great! I reserved spots online, but we got there late. Fortunately, the staff was very kind and still let us enter! You receive a wristband to activate games and see your score. You register it before you entering the gaming area. They also have storage lockers! We went into every room and had so much fun! We really enjoyed the grid & laser games. Some games were confusing, like the hide and seek one? However, we had so much fun that the time just flew by! For $25, I believe you get your money's worth! It's super cool to see your points and also earn prizes as you go! It's a great date idea--really loved competing and playing with my date! I can't wait to play with friends next time!

Ask the Community - Activate Games

Is this place for kids 7-10? Or more for adults and teenagers?

7-10 years old would absolutely enjoy this! The games are very simple and to the point.

75 mins for 24.99? This for all ages and adults? No need to add on cost anywhere?

Correct that's the price without tax for 75 minutes during the week I believe and it is for all ages.. side note be prepared to get in a fun workout.

Is there a time limit for how long you can stay?

Each booking is valid for 75-minutes of play. The wristband you use to check into each room tells you how much time you have left throughout

    Do they sell food here?

    No, they do not.

There are a variety of games- PacMan, a foosball like hockey game, racing games, pinball, frogger, shooting games, old classics like Fix-it-Felix, DDR, shooting hoops, skee ball and more! It's relatively clean and employees come help is something is glitchy or a ball is stuck in the basketball game, for example. They play music at an appropriate volume (this place is way less deafening than cidercade, and less crowded too!). I've never had food/ alcohol here so can't speak to that. It's definitely a great place to go, especially with a buddy, to get competitive and just unwind a little! My only complaint- the arrows in DDR are not very sensitive and tend to stick a little on their machines. It's very hard to adjust the initial difficulty level because the DOWN arrow on both sides of their machine is so not-receptive to touch you have to jump on it with intense force to move it from basic to more difficult. I'm actually pretty good at DDR and kept getting BOOS from arrows I was hitting. So just don't come here specifically for a DDR marathon and you won't be disappointed. I took my grandson to NickelRama a little over a week ago, while he was visiting from Ohio…read more Having never been, I had no expectations other than to think we were going to an "arcade." I had looked up NickelRama online just to verify that fact, and in so doing I read that all the arcade games were, go figure, a "nickel!" Anyhoo, what I did not realize was that NickelRama are a chain of "play for tickets" arcades, where one may then redeem the tickets for "prizes," akin to that which one might imagine winning at a carnival "Guess Your Age/Weight Booth," where number of prizes range from a stick of chewing gum or pencil topper on the low end to perhaps something electronic on the far upper end, depending on the number of tickets being redeemed. My grandson was fully aware of what we were getting into, as I quickly learned. After we made entry and each received our initial $10.00 purchase of 200 nickels, presented to us loose, in plastic cups, he immediately began searching the arcade for what he determined to be the game that would result in us accumulating the most tickets. This was not his first rodeo and he certainly knew the "name of the game" was quantity over quality, as far as ticket acquisition goes. The idea that we might challenge one another in some friendly video game mano a mano competition was quickly replaced by us challenging an electronically crafted gizmo to give up the most tickets possible, for later turn-in and prize procurement! As such was inevitable, he found THE game and thus, the challenge was on. It took us each about 45 minutes to burn through our 200 nickels. Well, I actually left the particular game and sought some variety of play, after about 160 or so nickels. That was short lived however, as I quickly realized my grandson's assessment was correct and the game to which he remained attached was the one that was most generous in spitting out tickets. Hence, I returned to sit beside him at the adjacent game and fed the remainder of my nickels into the machine. When our nickel cups were empty, I urged my grandson to walk about and seek out other possible games, but he quietly reminded me none were as generous as the one we'd just left. Still, I was seeking variety so, I enticed him with an additional cup of 100 nickels. He retrieved the cups and we began playing a game somewhat similar to THE game, but as he pointed out it just wasn't as lucrative. So, we went back to the machines we first sat at and fed. After a short period, we both were done and ready to feed our tickets into the Ticket Counters for tabulation. The ticket counters, booth count AND slice the tickets in half so they may not be reused/recounted. As our tickets were counted, he was declared the winner, by his count exceeding mine, by about 800 tickets! In total, we had a combined give or take 5300 tickets, with which he could now utilize to "shop" for prizes. With an "All-in" investment of just at $40, including the $5 entry fee for each of us to the NickelRama, he was able to get a tiny rubber eraser, a pair of large foam dice, and a plastic foam ball pop gun. In the end, I considered it money well spent, since the goal of the trip was to spend some quality time out with my grandson. He had fun and I had fun! He was shown that he was valued by my following his lead in our quest. And, he outperformed me in the acquisition of tickets! If you're looking to spend some time with your little ones and you want them to feel good about themselves, a NickelRama can fill that need! If you go, just keep in mind, that the quality is not in the prizes but in the time spent together! Live well. Be well. Cheers!

Because of this, little kids are running wild with guns everywhere. * Not Teen-Friendly: Because the facility is overrun with unsupervised "littles," teenagers do not have a dedicated or safe place to actually play. I mentioned to the girl at the end that we didn't get to see the ending. We still should have 11 more minutes! But she just looked at me blankly and said "oh sorry". Sooooo. I wanted to like it. But I feel we were sort of jipped out of the escape room ending. UPDATE: We returned and the situation was resolved! We did a different escape room this time ("Alice" at the owners suggestion), and the experience was very cool. Our time was not cutoff, and we finished the room within the hour. Everyone was friendly and polite. We will be back for sure. Thanks for the resolution! The ooooonly complaint is that I would prefer the goggles to be more thoroughly cleaned between patrons using them. A few of us had that issue, blurry dirty goggles. But that's a minor complaint. Great job!
