I'm not gonna lie. I was upset when I left this place. To begin with we were late to a birthday celebration at Activate. Please don't judge me. I know in this day and time that Google can solve a lot of ignorant problems. I chose to be ignorant about Activate Baltimore. My friends described it as a gaming place. I thought Dave & Buster's, right? Wrong. Wear your most comfortable clothes and shoes. You are about to get down and dirty. Yes, leaving it all on the floor. I put time into my look on the day I visited Activate Baltimore. I thought I was cute and prepared , wearing sneakers and jeans. I should have worn my Spandex set and slouch socks. It woulda gave hot mom. Anyways, this is a sweat pants activity. Side bar: I think it would be really cool if ACTIVATE BALTIMORE had athletic gear specifically made for this activity. You will be playing games that make you feel like you're playing dodge ball. Duos and groups of 3 or 4 , competing in laser beam limbo , memory games , hopping, shooting lasers, laser Tetris and pac man adjacent games. I didn't realize it at the beginning but you will earn points for each room you enter and will be ranked according to your skill. Some rooms are popular and may have a long line . You have to wait your turn. They have lockers for stuff. Not a lot of stuff. My friend brought a red cooler full of water for his birthday celebration. He's 40 and very thirsty. After 15 min of playing games , I began to sweat. I was nervous and afraid to be musty. The rooms are small and it would linger . Jesus . ( What is this life I'm living ? ) I took a potty break. Gathered myself as women always do and had a great time. Key Points : There is a literacy level to these games . Make sure at least 1 person can read on your team. I've been to Activate Games before on a date and had a great time, so I decided to come back for my daughter's birthday and we had a ball. The sign-up and registration process was super easy, and we were able to jump right into the games right away. Everything was very user-friendly with clear instructions, and each room helps guide you through what to do whether you're a beginner or more advanced. Be prepared to be comfortable and ready to move because it can definitely get intense. You will work up a sweat. It's intense, but no worries--this space is designed for you to go at your own pace. My work team and I went here as a team outing and had a blast! This was a workout, with lots of fun throughout all the games. We started by putting our belongings in lockers and then getting wristbands. After that we had about 1 hour to play any games we wanted, with the goal of getting as many points as possible. Activate is fun!!!!!! For $30 on the weekend and $25 during the week! They have several rooms that you can go in and out of for 75 minutes. Each room you can stay in for up to three minutes. Minimal age limit is 6 but I think it's more suitable for 8 and up. These rooms are very intense so you have to do a lot of moving. From shooting basketball hoops, to throwing balls at targets, crawling through lasers, jumping over colorful blocks and hiding from a red eye while running around the room hitting targets in numerical order. You have to scan your band to get in each room and only your party will have access to the room at that time. You won't have to worry about someone hogging up one room. They kick you out after your allotted time lol. read more

I'm glad I finally went - it's been on my to do list for some time. It's $25-30 per person for 75 mins and $11 to add extra time. You do have to make a reservation because it prevents players from having to wait long for games. The personal lockers are free, which I love. I also love that the games are good for kids and adults. Word to the wise, the games are VERY interactive - wear athletic shoes and clothes (and deodorant please) and be sure to stretch first. You should also bring a water bottle with you because you will get thirsty. There are 13 rooms with different games and levels so there's plenty to do and the rooms accommodate bigger groups. If you have a bunch of kids or a large friend group, this allows you all to play together without having to split up like at Dave & Buster's. I just played games for fun so I didn't pay attention to the point/ticket redeeming. I'll check it out at my next visit. read more

We had a 5:45 reservation (husband, 10 and 12 year old) and showed up not really knowing what to expect--but we were excited. The friendly staff gave us a helpful tutorial, and we couldn't wait to dive in. The play area is a bit dark and loud, so it was sometimes hard to hear the room instructions clearly. As the evening went on, it definitely got more crowded. At first, we were able to stay in rooms for more than one attempt, but later on, we had to exit after each round and wait a few minutes before re-entering. That being said--we had an absolute BLAST! It was so much fun and totally worth it. I can't wait to go back and will definitely aim for off-peak hours next time so we can maximize our game time and minimize the waiting. My friends and I visited on a Saturday and we had a lot of fun! There's plenty of parking and the facility is easy to find. We purchased our 75min session on line so we checked in at the front desk for wrist bands and everyone signed waivers. We were also given assigned lockers so we could place our bags away safely. The arena is very dark but you adjust quickly. Each room has a different game ranging from lasers, basketball, memory games, throwing games etc. each game is a minute or two so it's quick and you can really try anything. This place is so great! At first, I had no idea what I was in for. But I was pleasantly surprised to find a whole bunch of activity rooms, where one can play as a team or compete with others. I'm not sure what the minimal amount of people per room is. I was in a group of 4, and I don't think groups can be bigger than 5. Anyway, my favorite rooms were Hide and Hoops. Other rooms would have been better if the game instructions were more clear. That would go a long way. But overall, it was great. Very neat concept. read more

Such a unique and fun activity for friends, family, or dates! There are availabilities every 15 minutes so you can either make a reservation ahead of time or just walk in. Kris gave us an awesome tour beforehand and explained how things work and let us sample a few games. Jordan at the front desk was lovely and helped us register and checkout. They gave us a 30% discount for our first time there! There's plenty of parking and they even provide secure lockers to store your belongings. It's pretty dark inside and there's multiple game rooms that have a good variety of minigames (each lasting a minute or so). You have 75 minutes to visit different game rooms and play as many games as you want. The games range from avoiding lasers, to stepping on colored tiles, to throwing basketballs/balls, memory games, photobooth, etc. - you'll find something for everyone. They even have a point system where you can earn points from playing games and can eventually cash out on merch or even extra game time. Definitely recommend wearing sneakers and shorts as some of the rooms require running/fast movements that get your heart rate and body temperature up! It's a workout! The reception space as you walk in is nice and bright, depending on your arrival time, there may be a a wait. The staff was helpful and kind. We waited about 45 mins.; we walked around the Avenue as we waited. The facility was fun. It is physical so tread carefully if you aren't a physical person; its not Dave & Busters!. You can choose which activities to take part in, they have the traditional hoop game as well as target shooting. Then there are other more physical games. I think with some of the games the instruction could be clearer. One group or person goes into the rooms at a time. You can't stay in a room long so the wait time isn't long at all. You utilize a wrist band to enter the rooms. We did a few rooms on repeat because there were rooms that we weren't interested in. We played for 75 mins for 60.00. 75 min was too much time for us, we easily could have settled for 30 - 45 mins. It's dark inside and there is a locker for your belongings if need be. Had a great experience. We had a birthday party on Saturday for my son who was turning 13... even though things were crazy, with organizing all the party goers, Jordan stepped up and made sure everything went well. We went here the 1st time for my grandson's birthday. We had the best time! It was fun and very interactive. When the team member said it will get hot in there and we might need some water, she wasn't lying. Lol. You will definitely work up a sweat and have a great time doing it!
