Dropped off about 10 VHS tapes here to get digitized and they did a phenomenal job. They were able to digitize home videos recorded as far back as 1988 and both the audio and the video is clear on the videos. While it was a bit pricey, you can't put a dollar amount on memories and time. I strongly recommend using them to digitize your videos if you have them. read more

I highly recommend Action Video for consolidation of all your old video formats onto newer technology. I provided Lance with 1 VHS and 23 8mm tapes that he consolidated onto a 1TB hard drive hard drive. He also recommended the Neumi digital media player so the hard drive could easily play on a TV using the USB port. At first I asked to convert all my media onto CD's but when he got ready to begin the project he called to confirm my requirements. After he told me the pros & cons of the digital hard drive vs. the CD's, I was convinced the digital drive had more future use than the CD's. That was a great decision. When I picked but the hard drive, Lance showed me how to use it with the Neumi unit he had on site. The quality of the work was excellent and the turnaround was much quicker than I anticipated. read more

For both full films it came out to $60 (including tax), which I don't think is bad at all. I also have to applaud them for their great hygiene measures during COVID. I was there earlier this week. Dropped off a video of my Grampa's funeral back in 1991. I had no idea what else was on it. I took them 20 years of VHS, and mini and regular cartridges 2 weeks before Christmas and they put them all on an external drive in time for my adult children AND their friends to see at Christmas. This business really should be getting 5 stars all the way until checkout. Lance the owner had fast communication, Lee at the store was pleasant and even allowed me to see a bit of the video prior to deciding to transfer it. I dropped off a usb and the vhs was transferred same day. There was even a cute thank you with candy and usb back in original packaging, very professional and I was ready to highly recommend. The thing that threw me is the quote was $35, ended up being double that since the tape was over an hour. I was surprised but didn't think anything of it until I got home and noticed it was only one minute past the hour. I understand every business has to have guidelines but had they cut off the minute of random content, threw it in or called to ask if I wanted it would have been top notch since the price doubled from what I expected. The fact that they didn't puts them in the same category as any 'good' business. Be warned if you have a tape one hour and 15 seconds, your price will double as well. As long as you expect that, the work and service was great. I just personally didn't feel the value was there for the price and will probably look elsewhere if I need this done again. read more

I found Action Video Service by searching Yahoo and was impressed that they make their duplications in house and do not ship them to another state like many places do. I did a lot of video work in college over 20 years ago and the only copies I have are VHS dubbed from 3/4" tapes. I co-hosted a video review show for my college's television station my sophomore year and wanted to get my copy duped to DVD. The show had some problematic clips that AVS was able to run through a computer to instantly fix, without charging extra. I am very impressed with the results. The VHS copy has lots of tracking problems which I anticipated to be duplicated to DVD, but somehow the tracking actually turned out very smooth, especially for video from 1990! I highly recommend AVS for converting VHS to DVD. I found their prices to be very reasonable and the staff helpful and friendly. I even enjoyed playing the complimentary Pac-Man and Galaga (got high score) on an old-school standup arcade game cabinet. Cheers! read more

Took a VHS that was previously converted from 16mm years ago and now had it converted to DVD. I am so pleased, these were wedding videos from 1950-1954. This one was a little blurry but that's because the original was. I also took a 1997 VHS home video that was previously converted from 8mm to VHS that turned out perfect! I couldn't be more pleased with the customer service and quick turn time. I am one of those that does not want to mail these precious keepsakes in somewhere not knowing if they will get lost and never see them again. I had mine completed in less than a week! My mom had recently asked me to try and get an old malfunctioning VHS tape converted to DVD. It had some old family movies on it, taken on an old camera back in the 60's by my grandfather. They were able to get it to me in one day (was only one tape) and the transfer was great. I have a few more tapes I want to convert now and I will definitely go back to them, even though it requires a special trip for me (outside of NW Hwy?! Gasp!). I found family 8mm reels from the 50's and 60's. They put all six on a DVD. They said it would take two weeks but it only took a week. They spent time helping me put them in some sort of order since some didn't have a date on the box. They did an absolute fantastic job and my relatives were happy to receive a copy. Lance and crew are magicians! They took a pair of plastic "records" that were made in 1944 of a shortwave broadcast and blended the better parts of both into one recording and laid the track down on a CD. These "records" are one of a kind and irreplaceable and they took great care in the way they were handled. I feel like they felt these personal items of mine were every bit as important to them as they are to me. I could not ask for anything to have been better, this job was fast, accurate and more than fairly priced. It's rare that I'm delighted enough to bother writing a review. I have a mountain of my family's old 8mm and Super 8 film reels, and a few of them (like my parents' wedding video) are super precious. I wanted to have that one digitized professionally, and started shopping around. From their Yelp reviews and their website, Action Video seemed pretty reputable so I took a chance. They just blew away all my expectations. All the disclaimers said it would be 1-2 weeks for film conversion, but they did it in less than 24 hours!? They are super knowledgeable and professional, and made me feel comfortable that my priceless/precious media was in good hands. (They explained that they use cold LEDs to transfer directly from the film, no running it through a hot projector.) The cost was a little pricier than I expected, but after such great service, I feel it was well worth it. And also...they threw two Pixie Sticks in my checkout bag as an added bonus! read more

If you look at my other reviews, you'll see that I have had a horrific experience getting a DVD converted from PAL to NTSC. In discussing the situation (I had a DVD and a VHS tape) we determined that the VHS would likely be the best "master" to use for a conversion DVD. I had records my dad made and sent back to my mom when he was in the air force stationed at Lubbock, TX during WW II. I wanted to be able to listen to them but, without a record player, was unable. Someone recommended Action Video. I was hesitant to send them to a company I knew nothing about but after the initial communication with the company I was very comfortable doing so. They notified me when the records arrived. After converting them to CDs, they also notified me when they mailed them back to me. I can't begin to say how special it was to hear my dad's voice from when he was only 21 years old. I smiled the entire time I listened to them - even when my eyes were filled with tears. I could not be more pleased with the product and service I received from Nigel of Action Video Service. I had a videotape from 1999/2001 of trips my friends and I took and wanted to save it. I was encouraged to transfer it not only because I no longer have a VCR but also read online how video tapes typically only hold their magnetism for 15-20 years, which is what holds the video and audio. Obviously, we are into those 15-20 years and decided I really needed to transfer to a DVD (and eventually will transfer to multiple DVD copies and digital) before I lost the tape. Nigel was friendly, easygoing but competely professional. I liked that the videotape stays in the shop and is not shipped out so less chance of something happening in transit. Nigel answered my questions and had the DVD ready in a day or two. The cost was very reasonable and again completely pleased with the DVD's I received. It was well worth the investment to preserve the videos of another life.
