Total scammers. Came in looked at my a/c for 2 seconds told me it's frozen, went outside stuck meters on compressor and said I needed Freon , $700 . I said too much they made a call dropped $100 and I told them no. Then asked for a service fee which was never discussed$125 and I told them not a chance. Called someone else and they said Freon was fine , let it defrost and cleaned my drain tube.done n/c told me my air handler will need replacing in future be ready. read more

Horrible service, while I was not in presence they went through my drawers. They tried to tell me I needed a 600.00 repair when all the dishwasher needed was to be realigned. I waited all day for them to show up.....they did not arrive until after 6pm. I have cameras and when I was not in the room they went through my drawers, I had someone else in the house that also heard them do this. Our Bosch dishwasher was making grinding sounds and refused to drain. We found out that Universal no longer does dishwashers, so we looked at Bosch repair places near us. We found Action Repair Service in Merrick and called them up with our problem. They scheduled people to come out to diagnose the problem, which turned out to be a faulty pump, ao they ordered the part and had things working the next day. We soon found out that the door was having trouble closing, so we called the shop, they said someone would be there in a few hours to look at it. Took them about two minutes to straighten it out. Ten days later dryer not working at all. just wanted them to come look at it but they wanted to charge me another service fee. Very nasty on the phone. went to appliance store and ordered new dryer. Action Repair is a sham service. They were assigned by American Home Shield to do our A/C repair for a clogged line. We had a leak in the ceiling after the first visit to repair and then a MAJOR leak after the second visit. The technician said it was fixed on both visits. However, we had asked him to turn off the unit just in case since we were going out of town after each "repair". He did not turn off on the second visit and we returned to a large, open hole in ceiling, plaster on the floor and leaking from the attic to the basement. When my husband and I pleaded to have them return to fix the unit early on Sat and a second time that day, they would not return. Not only have we been without AC for 3 weeks but they have destroyed our home and charged us $400 on top of that to replace Freon. Beware!! Do not use Action Repair!! read more

This company is not an experienced, high-quality repair service, in my opinion. The service is prompt but incompetent. I called for service because my refrigerator was not cooling. Upon arrival, without any diagnostic testing, the technician said I needed a new start relay for $350. The technician installed the new part, and the refrigerator worked for 36 hours and then failed to cool. The technicians returned, did diagnostic testing, and reported that I needed a new compressor for $1500. I was not interested. Their failure to test the compressor initially cost me $ 388.18 for a part I did not need. read more

I called Action Repair service Inc of Freeport, NY for an issue A/C issue, two very questionable individuals where dispatched that immediately refuse to address the actual issue of no air coming out of one vent, but instead insisted that I purchase 3.5 Lbs. of freon gas from them at $135 per pound. They were extremely rude and aggressive, and they threatened they would not do any other work if I did not spend $405 in freon gas. I refused that service, upon leaving and in a spiteful act, one of their workers drained the freon gas out of my central unit while the other watched. I complained about that act and them not wearing masks as mandated, they were verbally abusive they called me derogatory names, some of them racial and offensive to members of the gay community. One of the individuals tried to physically attack me, I had to call Nassau County Police, which intercepted their van as they were leaving. It turns out that the individuals Action Repair Service Inc sent to my house had a warrant for his arrest. Nassau Police immediately handcuffed him and took him into custody. I called their office, the receptionist (a woman) was extremely rude and unapologetic about sending extortionists to my house, I tried speaking to the owner an individual by the name of Eric Sher to get a refund for services not rendered and restitution for the criminal act of draining the freon out of my A/C unit. He just as rude and abusive as his employees, he told me not to call him and call the office. My home warranty sent these guys to repair my subzero. They turned an evaporator problem to a compressor problem then eventually made my whole fridge unrepairable. They ordered parts for my fridge but only installed one. They installed the wrong compressor and even did it backwards rendering the whole freezer unusable. Then they didn't install the evaporator. I called for a 2nd and 3rd opinion and both companies told me whoever tried to fix my fridge made a big mess of everything. They were the ones who told me the evaporator was never installed and the compressor backwards. I got quotes of $8000 to fix the mess that is now my fridge. They gave us an estimate cost of repairs that were reasonable. They exceeded the time it took to have the repairs completed by asking if they could come a day earlier than expected. My 24" dishwasher was leaking onto my kitchen floor, so I contacted Action Repair. Two gentlemen came to my house later that week and in less than 15 mins they told me I had to replace a valve. I didn't watch every second of their work, but it appeared they mainly looked under the dishwasher where the plumbing sits and not into the machine itself. They came back the next day and replaced the valve (cost ~$350). I don't use my dishwasher often, but about a week later I did dishes again and didn't notice any leaking, but didn't look all that closely. However, after the second load of dishes post-valve replacement, I did notice that the leak had returned. I called them up and they said they would send someone back to check it out. The next day the repairman arrived (he was one of the original two) and after ten minutes looking around, and finally into the dishwasher itself, he told me I needed a new dishwasher because there was a hole in the basin and that couldn't really repaired. He showed me the whole. It was obviously not brand new, nor was it all that small. Had they discovered this hole on the original visit, I would never have replaced the valve, if it even needed replacing. The repair man told me that Action can sell me a new dishwasher, and the $350 I've already spent for seemingly needless repair can be applied to the cost. I just need to call and talk to the manager, Rick. I called him a day later and when we finally connected, he explained that he has found 2 dishwashers he thought would work for me. We discussed price, and while his prices seems a bit high, they were in the ballpark. I decided on one and mentioned that I would be getting the $350 deducted and he said no way. I told him repairman told me that, and his answer was A) why would we do that and B) that repairman is a part-timer and didn't know what he was talking about. I told him A) because your guys sold me on the wrong solution to my issue and B) your guys being wrong is YOUR problem, not mine. He hit me with some BS about how do we know the valve wasn't ALSO broken and I would have seen a big flood if the valve replacement wasn't right. Except there was never a huge flood to start with, it was a modest leak. It was all just him blowing smoke and BS. When I pushed him on why his price was higher than Hime Depot and others, he said his included installation and haul away. And he was even giving me "return customer discount" because they didn't solve the problem the first time. But his "discount" was like $80. I continued to push him and once he started talking over me and not listening, I knew I couldn't win. I told him I will shop on my own since by not making good on the bad faith valve runaround, what incentive did I have to use him? He said price and personal service. Really? I found a dishwasher I really like for form Home Depot and got installation, haul away AND a five year protection plan for less than his price, and what good has his terrible personal service gotten me so far? I know there are some people who have gotten decent work and purchases from Action Repair but in general they are unprofessional, inconsiderate, and feel like they are pulling a fast one. The workmen was decent guys but did a less than thorough job, and the manager felt like he was ripping me off from the moment he started "selling" me on his "fair solution." Never again. 11/5/18: We are so happy with the repairman that came today (I cannot recall their names, unfortunately- Eric? Is on the receipt, I believe). They came when expected and were extremely professional and courteous. I, for one, appreciated their ability to explain in detail the problem with our gas stove and their plan for repair. It's nice to know what you're paying for before the bill is written. Their prices were adequate. We were relieved that they also replaced our knobs as well. I usually never take the time to give bad reviews to businesses, but this time I believe it is needed. I called Action Repair Service to look at my washer. The technician (Joe) came in and said the problem was the main control board and that it will cost $485 to fix it. As a result, I decided to pay him the $85 for the diagnostic and not do any work. After some additional research, I figured out on my own that the issue was the water intake valve, and not the main control board. After changing the water intake valve, the washer is working perfectly fine now and Action Repair Service gave me the wrong diagnostic and was looking to charge me $485 for it. When I called their office to get a refund, I spoke to Rick, the office manager, who basically said to me that I was paying for the technician coming to my house to give me "a" diagnostic, regardless of whether it is right or wrong. I believe businesses need to stand behind their work, and that starts by giving the correct diagnostic. This business either doesn't know how to diagnose appliances or they simply tell you something more expensive is wrong to rip you off. Had I decided to do the work, they would have changed the wrong part and then would probably have told me that something else was wrong to take more money from me.
