The delivery man was unable to access our oil tank due to a build up of snow behind our fence. It didn't allow him to reach the the oil tank. The temperature was very low and we could have run out of oil if not delivered. We were unable to do it ourselves and the delivery man offered to do it for us. He did this with professionalism and kindness. We are always surprised by the employees of this company and their willingly go beyond what would be expected, especially this young man. I have had Tragar for a couple of years now, but I have to say tonight they really outdid themselves. I thought my burner was acting a little funky, so I put in a service call for tomorrow. Meanwhile, tonight the heat went off and the circulator was making a grinding noise. I called them at 11:41 pm and got the answering service. Within a 15 minute timeframe, someone from Customer Service called me back and said they would have someone within a two hours. Well, within 15 minutes, someone had already text me to say they were on their way. All of this took place under an hour. The technician, Jason Carter, was very pleasant and very thorough explaining what was wrong and how he could fix it. He was here for about an hour and a half and did a wonderful job showing me everything he had to replace. I can't thank him enough! My oil is low when I call they tell me they are busy with snow and cold weather I always had automatic fill ups in the past but now the company is failing a good customer who pays her bill as soon as she gets it. I had a new gas boiler and hot water heater installed by Tragar. Price was competitive - not the cheapest but definitely not the most expensive. The "comfort advisor" who first came for the estimate was patient and gave me options with zero pressure. Installation was scheduled quickly and was performed in one day the following week. The installers were great. They left the basement clean and everything very organized and well labelled. The project manager took plenty of time to answer all my questions in detail at the end. I'm so happy with the service that I received from Tragar! My heat was completely down and my house was freezing. I was able to get a technician to come by the same day in less than 2 hours. I spoke to Erin over the phone and she was amazing! She was super helpful in explaining the different plans to me and spent over an hour talking to me and answering all of my questions. She was completely thorough and explained every plan to me, breaking everything down so that I was able to make the best decision. Fast forward to the technician. Russell H. was incredible and so very patient. He was very diligent and thorough with everything, talking through everything that he did and explaining why he was doing it. He answered all of my questions and was very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. He stayed for 2+ hours working to make sure that we had heat. Tragar contacted me to schedule a burner tune up last month. The technician came today. He was exactly what you dream of. He was polite, patient, took pride in what he did, did his job and then went on his way. I was so pleased that I contacted Tragar to let them know. The tune-up was included in my contract. It didn't cost me anything today. Maintenance is the best way to extend the life of our heating equipment. Oil delivery comes on time. I haven't had to call for an emergency. We were having a problem with carbon monoxide buildup from the boiler. We had Tragar come in, and they checked the boiler, and all seemed fine, but the next day, again high readings. They came back, and contacted the boiler representative and the chimney installer, and checked everything once again. After much testing, they found the problem and got the system running optimally again. They were responsive, friendly, and prompt in their response. I highly recommend their service. Tragar refused to honor a deluxe service contract that I have with them. I have 2 different houses with them. They tried to fleece me for $525 labor for a 6 minute repair. Spoke with a Service Manager named Justin who was absolutely useless. When he realized that I knew as much as him about the necessary repair, he tried to lower the price to $275. Recently signed on with Tragar, was essentially told that I needed the "Gold Plus" service contract because I do not have a separate hot water heater. Only problem is that without the "Water Plan" nothing that water runs through is covered! Not the expansion tank, the circulators, etc. So we got hit with a $730 bill on the first service call. Don't worry though, we were offered $14 off the water plan to make up for this bullshit. Why would anyone with a hot water system NOT want to be covered with the freakin water plan! read more

Trager has shady business practices. I had a contract price for 199 and have been emailing the company to get Fill up before it expired. I was told multiple times that I will be getting a delivery but never past The expiration of my contract. Now I got a delivery and it's three to $400 more than my contract price. The shitty salesman said I wasn't scheduled for a delivery and I never renewed my contract so they just try to charge me what the price is. We have had a number of issues with the Fujitsu system but Tragar Provided the highest level of technical assistance that anyone could expect. They facilitated the replacement of our Condenser unit at no charge and made numerous highly responsive visits to get it set up properly. We had a problem with our boiler going out. Tragar was able to have someone over within 2 hours to identify the problem. Danny did a great job on the diagnostics and took the time to explain what he was doing to diagnose the problem. This gave me confidence that i was not paying for unneeded services. He was able to set up everything for install the next day as they needed special parts not usually in hand. Luis showed up early than expected the next day to install the new parts and got us up and running in no time. He cleaned up after himself and answered all our questions. Well, what can I say. One central air unit, 2 split units and an Oil Burner. The oil burner was a nightmare that haunts me 4yrs later. Leaks, non-functioning radiators for months, thousands of dollars in mold repairs and excuse after excuse as to why this system will eventually work. Well the warranty ran out a year ago and this unit is still nothing but headaches. Do yourself a favor, if you are looking for a boiler. Absolutely go somewhere else. I have had 5 installed in as many homes and never, ever had the consistent problems and dollars that I have had with theirs. I am very pleased with this company. When we ran very low on oil a few years back, I called them to sign up. They were very responsive and came within hours. It was about 20 degrees outside. Recently we had an issue (so we thought) with the burner. It's wasn't that. The tech (Adam Tannenbaum) came and diagnosed what he thought the problem was and he was correct. We use this company for my home heating oil and oil burner and they always exceeded my expectations. Recently, we had issues with our central air that was installed by a horrible company that we have had problems with for the past five years. Had an issue with my HVAC unit not registering the c-wire to my nest thermostat, within 1 day Tragar was able to send a tech for diagnosis, he reviewed the issue and said all was fixed. However, the system kept registering no power and when I called and spoke with John he was super accommodating and able to send a tech (Sean) immediately the following day and upon a 2nd pair of eyes we got everything working. I signed a contract with it in January. There are double charge of $96.86 (on two consecutive days). When my tank ran almost dry, I ordered the oil myself from another company. Granted that Tragar said they don't know how my usage would be during the first month - but they do know my tank size and nearly a month has gone by, during heavy snow in the area. When they learned that I've order oil elsewhere, the manager said, "I'll cancel your contract then." It's been more than two months, neither the double charge nor the contract have been refunded. The double charge: manager explained that he sent special delivery twice which has $45 surcharge, plus 20 gallon of oil. He said that he didn't know when the regular delivery truck would come. It didn't make much sense: he should know when his truck would be delivering which was the next day. Update: they refunded me the contract plus two special delivery surcharges (the double charge). I emailed them to say one refund's necessary, not both but no reply. Guess case's closed we both move on. read more

I came to visit at my Mom's house and it was 44 degrees inside. I called for emergency service. Carlos Ordonez came in the beginning of the stated service window. He quickly found the problem and fixed it. He also made a recommendation for additional service that is needed to prevent bigger issues but that could wait until a more convenient time. Carlos was pleasant, efficient and definitely demonstrated expertise at his craft. He made sure everything was in good working order before he left. Everyone in this company is friendly and helpful. They refused to deliver oil although the contract still has 2 weeks to expire. Last time they filled the tank was more than 4 weeks ago and we are in the coldest months in the winter. They force you to renew and will breach the contract by refusing to deliver before the contract expires despite the tank reached a quarter full. Another reviewer said the same exact things. Unprofessional and unethical. Plus their oil service plan is too expensive. The cheapest is $250 while you can get it for $29.99 with another reputable company. I wouldn't recommend to sign with them because you will find your self on the same situation when your contract is closer to the end. If I can give zero stars, I wouldn't hesitate. read more

All these Long Island oil companies are one big SCAM, Tragar is no exception. First year, service plan was around $150. Second year: these sneaks don't tell you when you sign the second year contract and Jack you up to $432/yr for service plan that doesn't even cover everything 100 percent. Expansion tank repair: 300 plus dollar job. Icing on the cake was when I tried to get a burner tune up in late December, and was told I would have to wait until February because they "don't do tuneups" in December. Recently had a ductless system put in, they offered the best price and warranty of the three Companies I called so I opted with them. However, salesman was pretty useless and offered not much insight and when I decided on a Lennox system he informed me they were in back order so I had to go for Fujitsu. The installation guys were as friendly as a rock, and as informal as one too, but they did a very clean install. When I finally got my paperwork in I was given a warranty that was less years than originally quoted, so after calling and being told I would get a call back, which I never received, I called again and again same issue, third times a charm right? Finally got a manager on the phone, with his condescending attitude, who claimed the salesman made a mistake but they will honor it and they give the best warranty around, which is crap because like I mentioned before, this wasn't my first company to call. Long story short, shit customer service which doesn't speak for long term issues but clean work and decent price. I'd say shop around before settling which them. Update 11/21/19 After having several issues with our system leaking, and having to complain and have people come out without fixing it. The third time was a charm and it stopped leaking. We ended up using them for our boiler as well and honestly the service has been very good. We had a leak one time and they came and fixed it within several hours, another time we had smoke coming from our chimney and they vacuumed out our chimney, with all being free thanks to having a service plan. So technically not free but I like to pretend it is. read more

They stole over $2,400 from our checking account just last week for a water heater that's working and not installed properly. The day we called to complain is the same day they took out the money which is not legally theirs if the job is not competed in full. Steve is more concerned about the oil than providing the proper installation they have not corrected, they say they didn't know about it they were called more than 3 times by me. Steve also told me that I had to send in a letter writing to get out of the oil contract. I still DID NOT send anything to them and they cancelled the contract and now they are doing us a favor by waiving the $750.00 contract cancellation fee as per Dennis Traina, Jr. Big deal you take out $2,400 and you think you're even....not at all! OMG , they proved themselves big time , in the middle of a snow storm I lost heat in one of my properties, they answered their phones , gave an eta for arrival and the technician showed up promptly. I been a Tragar company for about 4 years. Good service but to get a tune up, I have to wait months. I recently got a ductless system installed, spent roughly 11K. As a loyal customer, I called up the salesman John and wanted to add an additional 2 zone new system for 2 rooms. I was quoted 8K, What a rip off. I asked for a breakdown, it was never sent on the estimate. Meanwhile the entire system cost 3k online. The salesman excuse was that company have to make money, profits, material is over 1k, which in reality, it would not even be half of that. What was really more important to him is making money in his commission, and not taking care of a good customer. I even referred my family to him which I really regret. Meant to do this review 3 years ago when we hired Tragar to do all the plumbing and hvac on brand new addition to our home. They literally messed up everything along the way . The only reason I'm writing now is because our brand new ac unit only 3 years old is currently not working right. Has a more experienced HVAC company come and they said there's a leak already.
