He first spent about 30 minutes checking the unit, then gave me the price and left to buy the part. After that, he spent another 2.5 hours fixing his car before coming back. When he returned, he spent less than 30 minutes repairing the unit and then rushed to leave because he had another job. While he was here, he complained that the attic was too hot and even asked for help fixing his car. The AC worked right after he repaired it, but it stopped working again within 30 minutes. Since he had already left, I contacted him and asked him to come back to fix it again. He came back the next day but did not really do anything. He said the unit was making sound and running. He didn't even go up to the attic to double check again. so he claimed the outside unit needed to be cleaned. He then quoted me $400 per unit, for a total of $1,200 to clean three units, which I believe was extremely overpriced. I told him to clean only one unit first so we could see if the AC would work, but he refused and left immediately. On the same day, I had to call another company to schedule service. I paid another $200 for the repair, plus $290 to clean the outside unit, and the AC has worked without any issues since then. The other specialist told me that DC Air had installed the replacement part in the wrong area, which caused the unit to stop working again. I found this company on Yelp and saw that it had a Yelp Guarantee, but after this experience, I no longer trust these so-called reviews and guarantees. It is better to find someone through friends or people who have actually hired and recommended them before.

Apparently, at some point, that version of the company quietly left the building. In early June, I had them out for an ongoing air-pressure/airflow issue. The technician looked at the system and told me someone would get back to me with options to correct it. While he was there, he also fixed a loose thermostat wire and recommended that I sign up for their service agreement, which supposedly included preferred scheduling and service. That sounded reasonable, so I signed up. It is now late August. I am still waiting for the magical follow-up call. Over the past several months, I have called repeatedly. The woman who answers the phone tells me, every single time, that she needs to speak with Tommy and that Tommy will call me back. Tommy has now been "calling me back" for several months. At this point, I can only assume his phone requires a replacement part that is also waiting on a callback from Tommy. After enough unanswered calls, I finally asked for a refund on the service agreement. After all, the entire reason I bought it was because I was told it would provide preferred service. Apparently, "preferred service" at 5 Star Mechanical means you are preferred to the customers whose calls they ignore even longer. I was then informed that the service agreement is basically non-refundable. Fantastic. So to recap: they encouraged me to purchase a service agreement promising better access and preferred scheduling, failed to follow up on the problem they already came out to inspect, ignored months of phone calls, repeatedly promised callbacks that never happened, and then told me I cannot get my money back. At this point, I'd get more value out of wiping my ass with the service agreement, which may actually be its most practical use Had they simply told me in June, "We have no intention of getting back to you," I could have called another HVAC company and saved myself an entire summer of chasing them. Instead, I kept giving them the benefit of the doubt because I had been a customer for years and because I had literally paid for a service agreement that was supposed to make this process easier. Lesson learned. I don't expect a company to drop everything the moment I call. I do expect that after five calls over several months, returning one of them shouldn't require an act of Congress This is not one missed call or one scheduling mistake. This has been months of being brushed off while holding a paid service agreement that appears to guarantee absolutely nothing. 5 Star Mechanical used to be a company I recommended. Based on my experience this summer, I would now recommend keeping your credit card in your wallet until you have a very clear understanding of what their "preferred service" actually gets you.

We were concerned as we watched the technician and asked him how long he'd been with Flynn-Aire. He answered 8 months. ( for this level of expertise we paid $350) After a cursory check on our system the technician said everything was fine, and he left. Two hours later we went upstairs where to our horror water was dripping from the unit in our attic along the ceiling, onto our carpeting and into our chandelier. After two phone calls Flynn-Aire dispatched a second technician who glued the pipe that had been damaged by technician #1 and told us we would be contacted by Flynn since they had "a Sheetrock Guy" who could repair the damage. And then - crickets. No call from Flynn-Aire. Today is August 7, we have repeatedly called to speak to the owner, Bob Von Hagen, but he obviously has "Colleen" running interference and we have not heard from him. However, I was advised to remove my initial review or our project would not be completed. On Father's Day morning, we called this company for an emergency due to issues with our boilers. Initially, we were impressed by their prompt response and diagnostic services. However, working with David and his company turned out to be the worst experience we could have had. David promised us a new HVAC system (water heater and heat pump) within a day or two. This has now turned into three weeks. The communication between us and David was terrible, and he even threatened us. To make matters worse, he left our family in the middle of a heatwave, with a newborn baby! David has said vile things to my family because we asked questions about the work that was supposed to be completed and complained that the service we paid for was not complete. He was angry that we filed a complaint with the financial institution we worked with to get the work done he removed the breaker from the heat pump system and told us that "our children will suffer tonight" ( heat wave in affect and it's over 100 degrees in the home ). His words were so disturbing that they are not allowed anywhere near our property. They also damaged and left a hole in our ceiling. After stating that someone would come to fix it, just like they usually do, no one came, and they didn't even bother to follow up. We had to pay someone else to come and fix it. We took out a loan for a specific system and he promised us that system, yet installed a cheaper lesser system with equally bad customer service. Once the job was reluctantly "finished," our heat pump didn't work, and we had to call in and pay other companies to not only evaluate the work this company did but also fix it. We later found out that the work they did could have resulted in a fire if we had kept the unit running. Not only are they dishonest and take advantage of emergency situations, but they also do horrible work.
