I contacted the company back in the first week of May for a new in-wall unit. Steve said he had a refurbished unit for me to save money - great - but the job would be difficult due to the odd placement of the original unit so the labor would be more costly. No problem. Before Memorial Day he said he was going to get in touch with his contractor to get him to my house one day to replace the unit. I've contacted him every week so far (we're now in July) and it's the same story. He's trying to get him down to my house, very busy etc etc even though I contacted them in early May (so why is my house not a priority like your other clients?). I've made myself very available. He keeps saying they will aim for a certain day and then I hear nothing. Very frustrating and misleading. Gave up with them. Will try another company. read more

Honest. Friendly professional service. My bedroom thru wall AC started leaking into the house. Of course they no longer make the same size unit to fit the sleeve, and wanting to avoid the trouble of having a new sleeve installed, I brought the AC to Abbey. Our 10 year old Friedrich 24,000 btu air conditioner was causing the wall to vibrate. Steven diagnosed the problem and offered the options of repairing or replacing the unit. After some thought, we opted to replace it with the current model, which fits the same sleeve. Mike installed it the following Tuesday. There was a problem with how the thermistor was installed at the factory. Steven came out the next morning and corrected the problem. It doesn't get much better than that. I had Abbey install an a/c 5 years ago. I recently had Steve come in to perform maintenance on it. He took it back to his shop and gave it a good cleaning and tightened up the fans. I dealt with Heather and Steve and both were really helpful. Heather directed me in the right direction, she was polite and pleasant. Steve called me to answer any questions I had. Highly recommended... trouble with a wall unit a/c still under warrantee. I had phoned 3 places and Heather returned my call immediately. Incredible service! My wall a/c died on Thursday morning. My regular HVAC person suggested I call "that a/c service place on Broadway in Massapequa" so I googled and found Abbey. Called on Thursday midafternoon and got my new a/c at about 9:30 Friday morning! I got so lucky that Abbey a/c was smart enough to stock up on lots of Friedrich units before the summer and was so grateful that they were willing to rush the job and get it done today. Stephen knew exactly what my room needed, chose the unit which fit exactly so no carpentry needed. He and Alan explained everything, took the old a/c away and cleaned up. On a Tuesday, my air conditioner began to smoke, right before a heat advisory went into effect. It's a wall unit without a contract from PC Richard so they wouldn't even service their own unit! It wasn't an outside unit so none of the HVAC companies could help me. I reached out to Friedrich and on Wednesday, they gave me the name of Abbey Air Conditioning in Massapequa. I called immediately and spoke to Heather, who told me she could have somebody here the next day, Thursday. Sure enough, on Thursday afternoon, Stephen arrived. He open the unit and told me there had been a short circuit. He showed me that the motherboard was fried and said I needed a new machine. I assumed I would have to wait along with everybody else who's waiting for their AC to be serviced. Nope. I was very, very, very lucky. Stephen said they had a unit available, and he could have it installed that afternoon. Wow!! Mike and Tom arrived later, took out the old unit and installed the new one. In the space of two days, we went from sweating to smiling in our house. In fact, we have friends sleeping over who are still waiting for their AC to be fixed. Abbey Air Conditioning was reliable and amazing. The service people were competent, pleasant and neat! I am so grateful for their fast and comprehensive service. I recommend them highly! read more

I called Abbey A/C because the manufacturer of my dehumidifier gave me their number for my repair under warranty. As it turns out, they do not come to my area. However, I had to write a review because Steven was amazing. Rather than hang up and send me on my way, he spent time discussing the issue and tried to help me resolve the problem over the phone. He even gave me suggestions to save me money even though he could have made money off my repair. I would definitely use them if they came to my area. read more

Had them come to clean our units from mold, told too old, so we bought 2 new from them. Installed on Wed. man left with the unit running at 5:30 pm. Later that night we tried to use the remote and it didn't work. Thurs. we tried using the remote, but could only work it from the unit itself for on and off, but not too change the temp. or fan speed etc. Called first thing Fri. morning and no one got back to us. Very upset after $3000. read more

This company is wonderful. The response time and communication were great. They helped us out in a pinch. Our air conditioner broke down right before a holiday weekend and I was nervous about our baby being in the heat. They came by ASAP, assessed the problem and fixed it right away, whereas other companies wouldn't have looked at it until after the holiday. These are good people, friendly, caring and considerate. Earlier this summer I called and asked them to come service my two wall unit acs. I was instructed, due to mold and age, that it would be best to replace the units. It was the right decision. The bedroom unit however has been rattling since it was installed. It sounds (at its worst) like change in a dryer. The sound rises and falls in volume but it is enough to keep me up at night. I asked for them to come and check it out. When they did they said it was fine and they couldn't hear anything. While at that moment it was at it's lowest ebb there was an audible rattle. I called again and left a message to please help me resolve this issue. It has been two weeks and I haven't even received a phone call back. I will either attempt to address the issue myself or have to hire someone else to fix a brand new air conditioner. I am extremely frustrated, disappointed, and tired. read more

I had such an awful experience with this company/Steve. As it gets hotter and you need AC repair, go somewhere else. I had trouble with old PTAC units in a condo I just bought. They were noisy and rattling and awful. Steve came and looked at all four units. He said one unit needed a new part, and there was nothing wrong with the loud noises from the other units (there is), steve even said "it's a good thing no one sleeps in here" bc the unit was so loud in the second bedroom. Steve said they would order the part for the one unit and get back to me. I was charges 120 and then, just like that, I heard from no one for weeks. I called several times with no response. In the meantime, one unit completely died and the guest room unit was too noisy to allow my guests who were coming to sleep in. After weeks went by, I called another business and quickly replaced two of the suburban ptac's with Islandaire. Steve finally called back (about a month later) to see if I needed anything, no mention about the replacement part for the unit. This is only after he found out from the super (who does business with Steve) that I had another company do the job. Skip this company. The are disrespectful and I consider them thieves. They took my money and never came back to finish the job. read more
