I had a brand new smart system installed by Action. I have never once been able to get them back out to fix the terrible install. My sensors have never worked right which means I can not make use of the app and it's features. They also improperly installed a lock mechanism which caused $1,000 in damage that I had to pay to another company because Action wouldn't even come out lol. I am literally suing them because after I told them about the issues, without even looking at photos or asking a single question, told me I am out of luck. These people suck and you should call Precision out of Akron, they do a much better job. UPDATE: A manager came out to look at everything. While he was on site he was personally expressing that he realizes Action messed up but his hands were tied. So he called the owner Dino, and Dino denied all liability. RIPPING OFF CUSTOMERS ON PARTS PRICING AND ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY: I began experiencing a problem with my garage door opener around Nov 2023, that is, sometimes it would not close with the remote. I called Action Door and they attempted to fix it, but the root cause was never identified. A week later I ran into the same problem again. I called them the second time and this time they hooked up a diagnostic tester and discovered that there is an issue with the circuit board (2nd attempt was on Jan 19, 2024). Now, why did they not run the test the first time to identify the root cause, I don't know! but I was prepared to have Action Door fix it since the reason was finally identified, hopefully. I asked how much, and the tech replied that there will be no labor charge (since they attempted once and failed back in Nov 2023), but part cost will be applied (which is totally understandable). However, they tried to rip me off by quoting me a price for the circuit board that is almost 200% more than what is currently being offered in the market. Multiple vendors on Amazon are selling it for $118 (see the attached picture), and Action Door price was $220 to $250. I showed the market price to the technician, but he was fixed on their price for the part. I informed the tech that I will order the part myself from amazon, and once delivered (Jan 20, Saturday), he can come out on his first available business day to install it. The technician returned to his van and called his office/supervisor and returned with a written summary of the Job order, which included the next service date for board installation (Jan 22, Monday). He also added a $50 labor fee for the upcoming service after his call in the van. Since I had already paid $50 for their initial unsuccessful visit from Nov 23, I had to dispute it. I called their main office in Hudson, the manager on the phone decided to increase the labor cost even more since I was not purchasing their overpriced part. I mentioned to him that the written service agreement provided by his tech states that the part will be supplied by customer and $50 installation charge (the reason why I called their office) will be applied. (see the attached document, "Service Required" section for reference). I understand that the manager who was on the phone with me was trying to compensate for the failed service visits. It costs money to send people out to customers site by the hour, but Action Doors' incompetence is not customers' responsibility. When I tried explaining to the manager, he ended up cancelling the upcoming service. I can conclude that Action Door cannot adhere to their written promises, and they lack honesty/integrity, especially when they cheat people on parts' pricing. They have lost me as a customer, and they have also lost my family and friends that are pursuing their business. read more

I called Tia at Action door at 11:30 AM and described the situation. Tia helped me diagnose the problem of a broken spring. I explained to Tia that my car was in the garage, and I had an appointment requiring me to leave at 2:30 PM. She assured me not to worry while providing me a quote over the phone. Very upset about the misleading "LIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY" offered on their website for the torsion springs that they install. When simply asking more questions, the service manager repeatedly interrupted me and told me he would not answer any more of my questions. Basically told me "I could try to explain it to you a 1000 more times, but you wouldn't get it." While I'm upset that the spring wouldn't be covered, I'm just appalled at how I was treated. Absolutely horrible experience. I do Not recommend this company at all. The service tech arrived at my residence and shortly after discovered he was unprepared to make the repairs because the rubber seal at the bottom of my garage door had to be ordered. I was totally fine with that until he asked me to pay for the service call while he was there. He could not give me any additional information as to a time the part would be available or when we could reschedule. Of course I refused to pay because no service was performed. After that the tech stated to me that the company would not be willing to move forward without a payment for a service call. I am ok with paying for parts up front but still no further information could be offered when the parts would be available. I then phoned the company and spoke to Shawn who claimed to be the supervisor. Short story, he stands by the actions of the tech and according to Shawn it is perfectly acceptable to leave the customers in the dark without any details but demand a payment for no services rendered. I was also told by the supervisor that my call was draining him and I should use precision door because their customer service was better. This was my experience with this company. Do your research and look elsewhere. They made it clear that you don't matter and very unprofessional and out right rude. read more

The technician was very professional, solve my problem quickly, and did some extra things to make my garage doors run smooth

I wasn't going to leave a bad review for this company because I will say, their phone reps are nice and prompt and they do fix issues. But. I want other people to know that maybe they should choose a different company. We had a salesman come out and we purchased a new garage door and track (everything but the motor, which had previously been replaced on our old 1960s garage) in September 2018. I bought the one he suggested, a basic uninsulated model for our detached garage. He told me they would give me a call in a day or two to schedule installation. They never called after several days, so I called them and scheduled installation (for 6 weeks out; I wish the salesman had told me they were so backed up because I wouldn't have gone with them). Several more days pass and I notice no payment had been taken out of my bank account. I called them back the following week, and they tell me, oh, the salesman wrote down the wrong credit card number so we couldn't process your payment/order your door. I have no idea why they didn't call me. So I gave them the correct number. Then they ended up rescheduling my installation because their install guy was out for a funeral. We finally get the door installed in November 2018. Now on 02/01/19, the door caught while closing and buckled in the middle. I called them and they did, to their credit, send out a technician within a couple of hours. He fixed the door and told me it had "frozen" and that was the issue. I asked him about the buckling in the middle, and he literally told me "you get what you paid for" and that I bought a cheap door. I bought the $1,200 one that was recommended to us by THEIR salesman! He also told me doors like the one I bought are "flimsy like pop cans" and they buckle in the center. WHAT!?!? Also that I should have gotten a new motor and opener (their salesman told me that wasn't necessary) and I could have gotten a door that wouldn't have had those issues for just $200 - $400 more and it would have been the difference between "a Saturn and a Mercedes." So frustrated. Will never go back to this company, and I'm truly hoping we have no more issues so I won't have to. read more

So my girlfriend's condo association referred her to Action Door Stow. I have never paid more than $300 for a complete garage door opener install, and that's for a two car garage door opener. Her's is a non-insulated aluminum 1 car garage door, I told her it was shot. She called these bozos and they came out and charged her $120 to spend 15-20 minutes looking at it, only to quote her a minimum of $550 (they'd credit the $120) to replace it. A Chamberlain 1/2 horsepower with Wifi, Smartphone Control and Battery Backup starts at $128 plus tax, and it takes what, about two hours to install? Pay them well, people deserve to get paid. $75 an hour is great! Total cost of $128+tax + $150 labor is $288.24 - hell, round it off to $300 as a tip! Coz people deserve to get paid.. Outstanding service! I have used Action Door a couple of times now. First, an emergency service call for a broken spring on a door (Action Door arrived within 2 hours - on a Sunday morning!) The second service call was scheduled - to replace the opener. The new opener was installed quickly and all debris cleaned before the installer left. I even got a nice "orientation" presentation on how everything works! Very pleased. read more

Called at 6pm about a broken spring on our garage door. Since it was not an emergency they called back the next morning and told us someone could be out that morning and they would call when they were on the way. They called at 11 and the tech showed up at 11:40. We had both springs replaced ant it took a little more then an hour. The bill was reasonable and the door works better then ever. read more

I had a broken pulley on my garage door. Simple repair but since my door was 30 years old I thought I'd have action door replace it and check out my garage door that always has worked wonderfully. When the repair guy came out, he put the pulley on in 6 minutes. He looked at my door and said it was unsafe, I shouldn't use it, put a red tag on the door as a warning then proceed to tell me to get a new door. As he looked at the door I heard "oh My God" 4 time and "this is ready to come down" a couple times. I felt like I was in a crooked auto repair shop. He said it would take him 3 day to get this door the work. It has and continues to work perfectly for the past 30 years with some repairs made by me. He spent 25 minutes trying to sell me on getting a new door. He then billed me for $40 for the service call which I expected and 1 hour labor $69 for his 8 minutes of work. He evaluated the door in less the 2 minutes. What made me the maddest though was I stopped by Action door which is 1.5 miles from my house and was told the billing would be the service call and the actual time spent on repairing the door at $69 per hour. After listening to him for 25 minutes I went to put my door down and he yelled to stop. I stopped and he said I was going to ruin my 15 year old garage door opener which I installed. I then put the garage door down and again it worked perfectly. I guess I should go into the business of repairing garage doors. read more
