My sensors have never worked right which means I can not make use of the app and it's features. They also improperly installed a lock mechanism which caused $1,000 in damage that I had to pay to another company because Action wouldn't even come out lol. I am literally suing them because after I told them about the issues, without even looking at photos or asking a single question, told me I am out of luck. These people suck and you should call Precision out of Akron, they do a much better job. UPDATE: A manager came out to look at everything. While he was on site he was personally expressing that he realizes Action messed up but his hands were tied. So he called the owner Dino, and Dino denied all liability. I am now suing action door because they don't do the right thing. Beware.

RIPPING OFF CUSTOMERS ON PARTS PRICING AND ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY:…read more I began experiencing a problem with my garage door opener around Nov 2023, that is, sometimes it would not close with the remote. I called Action Door and they attempted to fix it, but the root cause was never identified. A week later I ran into the same problem again. I called them the second time and this time they hooked up a diagnostic tester and discovered that there is an issue with the circuit board (2nd attempt was on Jan 19, 2024). Now, why did they not run the test the first time to identify the root cause, I don't know! but I was prepared to have Action Door fix it since the reason was finally identified, hopefully. I asked how much, and the tech replied that there will be no labor charge (since they attempted once and failed back in Nov 2023), but part cost will be applied (which is totally understandable). However, they tried to rip me off by quoting me a price for the circuit board that is almost 200% more than what is currently being offered in the market. Multiple vendors on Amazon are selling it for $118 (see the attached picture), and Action Door price was $220 to $250. I showed the market price to the technician, but he was fixed on their price for the part. I informed the tech that I will order the part myself from amazon, and once delivered (Jan 20, Saturday), he can come out on his first available business day to install it. The technician returned to his van and called his office/supervisor and returned with a written summary of the Job order, which included the next service date for board installation (Jan 22, Monday). He also added a $50 labor fee for the upcoming service after his call in the van. Since I had already paid $50 for their initial unsuccessful visit from Nov 23, I had to dispute it. I called their main office in Hudson, the manager on the phone decided to increase the labor cost even more since I was not purchasing their overpriced part. I mentioned to him that the written service agreement provided by his tech states that the part will be supplied by customer and $50 installation charge (the reason why I called their office) will be applied. (see the attached document, "Service Required" section for reference). I understand that the manager who was on the phone with me was trying to compensate for the failed service visits. It costs money to send people out to customers site by the hour, but Action Doors' incompetence is not customers' responsibility. When I tried explaining to the manager, he ended up cancelling the upcoming service. I can conclude that Action Door cannot adhere to their written promises, and they lack honesty/integrity, especially when they cheat people on parts' pricing. They have lost me as a customer, and they have also lost my family and friends that are pursuing their business.

UPDATE late 2021: We finally decided to replace our old 60s era garage door last month and (as…read moreusual) the process with Paul couldn't have been more seamless, easy, professional and quick. At the initial appointment to measure, he brought along a brochure of the options to choose from, and we wanted to get the ball rolling so we decided right there (we researched what we wanted ahead of time & then he helped narrow it down) and he ordered it on the spot while there with us. There was absolutely ZERO pressure at any point (and they even said there wouldn't be when we made the appointment). This is a local family business with a reputation to uphold & Paul does this very well. We are so happy with our new steel/insulated smooth door (and all new tracks), now with higher up windows too. Perfectly installed so no more gaps for mice to get in now that it's cold. Much appreciated! ---------------------------------------------------------------- 3/25/2018 I've lived in the immediate area for well over a decade, and yet again recently I found myself thanking our lucky stars that we have a business like this closeby that we've had to use a few times over the years. We started with a 30+ year old-ish garage door opener that came with the house, they repaired that and it lasted a few years more. Then a couple years later I ordered a super-powered one from Sears & had them come and install (since we had great experience with them & didn't know who Sears would send). Another time the big spring over the door (30+ years old) finally went & they came & replaced that. More recently, the garage door track's rollers went bad & bent the track. The same nice guy we always see showed up, fixed the track & put brand new rollers (like roller blade type) that not only fixed the operation of the door but made it SO much quieter. We are so fortunate to have this business with polite professionals that do an honest & great job to fix what is needed (never EVER pressuring us to do more than needed or to install an expensive new door). They come, do their job quickly & professionally with no drama.  This is the epitome of a great small business that does what they need to do & takes care of the people in the community they serve. This is one of those cases where I feel compelled to leave the well-deserved positive review, especially when so often people are only motivated to post the bad. That said, I am completely confused by the couple of bizarrely bad reviews on here, because that couldn't have been further from my (multiple time) experiences over the years (including VERY recently as well) & we truly HAD been just saying "we are so lucky to have them to call on."   Their prices are SO reasonable for this small business you have to wonder what someone would be thinking to complain they didn't have a "showroom." Giant showrooms would cost big $ & would jack up the prices for everyone. In this age of internet, you can see everything online. I am sure if you WANTED to spend all kinds of $ replacing a garage door, they'd be happy to install whatever you find, I'd simply just ask.
