I took my computer back under their warranty period of 30 days and Pen did a great job going thru the computer again and fixing the issues that remained after the 1st go 'round. Our Dell 17" 2-in-1 laptop failed on us recently after a new battery was installed. It would not even enter into POST; the keyboard would light up momentarily and the CPU fan would turn a few revolutions and then everything would stop. I usually work on our computers myself, but after hours of troubleshooting I decided to get help. Action Computers in Arvada was very helpful. The issue even had them puzzled for a bit and we mutually decided to replace the motherboard (I had been certain it was the new internal battery). That solved the issue. The laptop is now working great again. It took some time to get the new motherboard and install it. Action PC kept me apprised of the repair status. They never suggested giving up, scrapping it and buying something else, they helped me to save an older, but nice laptop. read more

I brought my laptop in and Zach diagnosed I needed a new battery. Said it would take at least a week to order the battery. I left computer on 3/13 and checked on 3/20 online and nothing had been done. I called and spoke to male employee who stated my computer was "on the bench" and they were so busy, backed up the battery had not been ordered and could not order for another few days. I said I had not been told that my computer would be sitting for over 10 days and the battery not ordered. I came in to pick up my computer and same employee said he didn't appreciate my saying they had done something wrong. I restated that it had been wrong not to tell me that they could not order the battery for over 10 days and my laptop would just be on the bench. I would not of left it there if I had been told that. I asked who the manager was, and he gave me a name of someone in the Denver store. When he couldn't find my computer in the back, he asked Zach to help him. I could hear them laughing in the back. While I was there, Zach never spoke to me about what had happened. When I called the Denver store, I was told that Zach was the manager of the Arvada store. read more

Wow this place is great! I will only get my computers from here especially as a remote worker! Our small business is going fully remote so we need a robust printer but we didn't need a month to month contract for a printer. I like getting things used and the office furniture place nearby recommended action. They had exactly what I needed! However, when I brought the printer home I needed the admin information. I called Action computers to see if they could help me, and at first they said they didn't do printer services and that they couldn't contact who they got it from to get the admin info. I was pretty upset - why sell printers if you can't help? But then I got in touch with Jeff who cleared up that misunderstanding and they definitely do help with printers! Their tech was able to configure it to do a factory reset and have it print wirelessly. When I get it back home they can also remote in and help me if I can't get it set up on the network right. Amazing! I had contacted another printer agency that wanted to charge me $37.80 for every 15 minutes to help me - action computer folks are far more friendly and affordable. They really do care. I brought in some of my kids' old laptops and they bought a few abs recycled the others. I'm so glad I have a reliable tech place to get equipment and troubleshoot now that I work from home full time and don't have a tech department, I have to do everything myself, and I can, with action computer's help!! I purchased 2 desktops and brought a laptop in to have the entire unit wiped clean, reset to factory defaults. One of the desktops would not connect to the internet, and after 30 minutes, the tech was unable to fix the issue. The vice president of the company was behind the counter that day and was very helpful in helping me find a replacement unit off the shelves. The laptop turned into a disaster for me. Ever have a day that sucks, then one thing goes right, only to find out that the one thing you thought was good now also sucks? Today, the Arvada Action Computers was my one thing. I toiled through a joyless and tiresome workday, looking forward to playing with some new toys when I got home. But lo, there was a missing piece, and a fairly rare one at that. I started calling, getting a continuous stream of no for my efforts. Then I called the Northside Action PC. And they said that they had my part ("yeah, we have a couple of those"). And they're 30 minutes away. And they close in 40 minutes. I haul ass across some crowded highways and putter up Wadsworth at grandma speed until I finally arrive at the shoebox that is the Northside store, with 8 minutes to spare. After a couple of minutes of blank-ish looks and shoulder shrugs from the goon on the sales floor, it occurs to me that they don't actually have it. Turns out he answered my call, and didn't have a clue what I was asking for at all. Defeated before I could even grasp that I'd been defeated, I shuffled out of the store back home. No reflection on the Denver store (when I called, they said they'd have to check the warehouse), and maybe this just caught me on a bad day. But it wouldn't hurt my feelings if lightning were to strike the containing strip mall and all of the electronics inside were fried in a terrible (and highly localized) elecromagnetic disaster. read more

This place had great reviews on Google but I should have checked yelp first. Holy this place is sh*t, I have an iMac that just the bulb burned out on it. The screen is really dark but I can still slightly see the screen and somewhat navigate it. Thats how I know its just the effing bulb and have talked to 4 other repair shops also saying its just the bulb and takes 20-30 minites to replace. Quick repair. These guys not only took 4 hours just to look at it and diagnose the problem but cracked my screen! Then fed me some bs about how it was smoking, and they smelt smoke. And all he had to say about my cracked screen was that he "left a vm for the owner because he doesn't work weekends" are you kidding me?! No I'm so sorry? No we'll get it replaced for you right away? We take good care of our stuff especially forking out the money for an iMac set up in the first place. We literally hardly ever use our Mac because we're hardly ever home. There's no way in hell it was smoking or anything like that. I had the mac for 2 days with screen dark like that and I NEVER smelled smoke or saw it acting funny. TERRIBLE! Now how do I know they didn't do something to it to make it smoke?! If I do not get my screen replaced for free, I will file a better business bureau complaint. That's unacceptable. How awful to treat people and run business that way. I definitely wouldn't recommend you to take your computer/laptops here. Character of the company is poor. read more

In the past this place was great to go to for help. They were understanding of peoples lack of knowledge of computers. Now its changed. They tend to make you feel stupid when your asking questions about different products and/or when you bring your desk top or laptop in to be fixed or updated. I came in and was immediately helped - which was great, because I had only 10 minutes to buy a computer. The guy who helped (P. Adam or something or other, sorry!) was direct, straight to the point and knew exactly what I was looking for. It helped that I knew what I was looking for too. He didn't linger on trying to sell me, just got straight down to the facts. Upon check-out, he explained everything (warranty, first time turning on the computer, etc) thoroughly and quickly, without being too overwhelming, and at the same time not dawdling at all. The only improvement, or clarification I would make is the pricing online? I came in thinking I was going to get a green-level desktop and a monitor for about $125.00 + tax, and ended up spending more like $190.00 + tax. Which is not outrageous, but it is a big price difference on what I was expecting to pay based on the pricing online. Thanks so much! read more

I absolutely recommend these guys! I have been going here for years and never been disappointed. My latest laptop repair was crazy. I tried to close the lid and it popped half off and screws flew everywhere! When they told me my battery was enlarged it was kinda scary because that can cause a fire. They ordered a new battery and a new lid from HP and only charged me $30 for labor. They will also recycle old computers. I have taken them several. No charge for that. I've shopped with them for 9 years. They have great customer service. Their warranty, return and exchange policies are clearly laid out when you make a purchase. They have honored them 100% of the time with me. Sometimes, even going further, which is a pleasant surprise. I often times compare customer service of other companies to these guys. Action is my benchmark for good customer service. I bet the people here with problems, were expecting more than the policies they agreed to, when making the purchase. These are problem customers. And I can only imagine they have a gamut of unnecessary problems in their lives. read more

Very decent for the price I paid. Granted I purchased it while they were having a sale. The only complaint I have is that I was there to purchase a tower and two monitors for work, which I explained to the gentelman helping me (a computer expert) and told him that I did not know much about what I needed, yet when I got home and got home and got everything set up I realized I needed to new graphics card and a vga adapter to even be able to properly use the second monitor. It would have been nice for him to put two and two together so I did not have to make a second trip but I guess you cant get everything unless your getting sold on by big business. read more

The CPU in my computer burned out recently, so I was doing some shopping around and found that the replacement I needed was going to take a couple of weeks to order online. I called Action and was told they had my CPU in stock. It was more expensive than I would have payed at NewEgg or anywhere else online, but I wouldn't have to wait two weeks to get it, so I went in. The first thing to catch my eye was a Dell Latitude C640 laptop, on sale for *** $675 ***. Some of you may not recognize this as the farce it is, but the C640 is a 5- to 6-year-old laptop; the technology in this laptop is considered positively ancient by today's standards. (For perspective, I just helped a friend buy a brand new laptop at Microcenter for $450 - a machine that is orders of magnitude faster than this old hunk of junk.) You can get a C640 on eBay or Craigslist for $150 or so (even that, in my humble opinion, is far more than anyone should pay for such outdated hardare), and it was for sale at Action Computers for nearly $700; and there were several other machines in the store for sale on similar markups. Anyway, being in a pinch I bought the CPU and a CoolerMaster heatsink and cooling fan and took it home. I never noticed until after I had installed the CPU that the cooling fan was actually an OEM Intel (read: cheap-o) fan that had had a barcode pasted over the Intel logo, was thrown into a CoolerMaster box, and put out on the shelf. This place might be good for someone who knows what they're doing and is in a tight spot, but BUYER BEWARE: they are clearly misrepresenting themselves. You can get far better hardware for far cheaper at a dozen other places, including several non-bigbox stores around Denver. If for some reason you're really set on buying a computer from these people, *please* do yourself a favor: before you hand them your credit card, do a Google search for the model number of the machine you're thinking of buying and find out how it stacks up against other computers out on the market. I think you'll find buying at Action Computers is a really, really bad idea. read more

My request was simple. It did not need sarcastic, un-enthusiastic attitude when asking for something so simple as Thermal Glue. Without looking I was denied in the most dis-colorful way. The people working this store are something else. Not pleasant, and always quick to refer me to Radio Shack and Best Buy everytime I asked a question. The older more mature employees behaved like a 16 year old intern with temper tantrums. All I asked for was glue. Do not take your pc there. But if you have to, do an inventory of your internal components and make sure they are the same ones when you get your pc back. Thanks for the incompatible RAM when i got home. read more

I took my computer in to have a bad hard drive replaced, and the work they did was fine. The price seems about what I would expect, though I didn't shop around. The trouble I had was how long everything took. When I originally took it in it was Friday February 10th, and they told me they would have a look at it on the following Monday and someone would give me a call. When it got to be Thursday afternoon and I hadn't heard from them, I called to check on my machine. They told me it was being looked at then and they would call me back the next day, Friday. 4 full days later than what they originally promised. I was upset but didn't have time for a conversation at that moment, and the guy I spoke with on the phone didn't seem aware or bothered by the fact that they were running so far behind on my order. They did call me back the next day, gave me the rundown and once we decided on the replacement equipment and the service package I wanted, the price was settled and again, they said it would be ready the following Monday. Same as before, I didn't hear from them Monday. It was Wednesday by the time I called them. They didn't have any immediate information, but called me back later, long story short, my computer was finally ready on Thursday. This time 3 days later than I was told before. All in all, they had the machine for 13 days, and with both quotes they gave me on the time it would take to get the job done, a total of 7 extra days elapsed. Everyone seemed completely oblivious to this discrepancy and the inconvenience, so obviously no one ever offered any apology. Apart from the time issue, I should give Action credit. Everyone was friendly and professional and the machine seems to work fine now. I probably won't be going back though. read more

For 3 years now, I have given them multiple challenges and they have prevailed! The biggest challenge was with an obsolete laptop that had not updated in years, would not connect to the internet and accounting software that was like Fort Knox. I needed the info in 3 or 4 days. They got it done. Worked diligently, dozens of calls between the software company and to me and I finally got the data. I would have lost my patience but they persevered! Also purchased a used Alienware computer (gaming) from them which they upgraded storage on it. Not a single issue & it has been 6 months. They checked my laptop and told me my hard drive is fine and they figured out was wrong instead and replaced the part. This review is long overdue but this review stuff didn't exist when this happened. The man I was engaged to bought a memory card from Action- this has been about 15 years ago- and I I think he paid about $90 for it. This store at the time was located on the west side of Wadsworth so it has been a while. This store had the nerve to call me the next day and say that my then fiancee had been undercharged for the memory and I needed to come in and pay them another $90 dollars. I was stunned. I had worked in retail for years and if we made a mistake in pricing it was on us. I went in because my then fiancee had written a check and I was afraid of any legal ramifications. I talked to the clerk and told him that I could not believe that a store would ask a customer to come back and pay more for something that was their fault, that I had worked in retail for years and would NEVER do something like this. The clerk apologized, said that they had even had a meeting about this but still decided to call and demand the difference. I told them I would NEVER buy anything from them again and I would be sure to tell everyone I knew about this experience and to never buy from them ever. I have never forgotten about this- I have always intended to call Tom Martino as I think he endorses their business- but life got in the way. Bottom line.....don't patronize this business. It's a frustrating experience when you're an online college student and your computer dies out of the blue. The staff at action computers in Arvada only added to that frustration in that situation, by making me feel as though they did not respect my time, my property, or my intelligence. The first day, when they found out that the power source was not the problem, I asked them to make it exactly like it was as soon as possible. They said they would have to test to see if it was the motherboard, and that if they didn't have the motherboard they would have to order it. I told them that I'm an online student, and I a in a big hurry to have my system back the way it was. The second day, I waited. The third day, I went to check on the progress. I was livid when I found out that they didn't even know if it was my motherboard or not. So, to placate me, the manager then "prioritized" the job. He told me he had a motherboard in stock that wasn't the same, but would work. He neglected to elaborate on the differences I would be looking at. I was under the impression that there would be no noticeable differences. However, I was shocked when I got home, and where I used to have an HDMI port, there was not one. Where I once had four usb 2.0's and 2 usb 3.0's, I had only four usb 2.0's. After all of this, I just wanted them to take their parts back out of my computer, and issue a refund. However, they are still charging me around fifty dollars for diagnostics, even after they've wasted so much of my time and put me through so much frustration. I'm new to the area, so I'm not familiar with many of the businesses. But, I'm sure there's one that would have made me feel more like they cared about me and my problems. And, there has to be one that could have had my system back to the way it was by now. Tomorrow is day four, and I still haven't decided if I'm now going to attempt to have gateway replace it, take it somewhere else, or just go ahead and let these guys finish the job since they won't refund the diagnostic fees. But, one thing is certain, I am a 100% dissatisfied customer. read more

Do not go to the Arvada store. After taking the laptop in for a new DC jack, it took even longer to get it back because they admittedly damaged the motherboard in the process. After finally getting it back, they tell me the charger I brought in doesn't work. After I get it home I find out several obvious keys on the keyboard don't work. So here is the update: I took it in today and Ryan, the technician, worked on it and then came and told me that yep, the keyboard is broken, and would I like him to order a new one for $45. I pointed out it worked when I brought it in. He SHRUGGED and said, "Eh, well now it doesn't." And so continued a pointless circular conversation where he was rude and condescending while I kept pointing out that it was fine before I brought it in, and he kept saying that now it isn't. I think he was trying to maybe imply that an incident happened that caused the port to break at which time the keyboard (and charger?) also were damaged, and that I only told them about the port and then accused them of damaging the rest? (Which is ironic since they admittedly did damage the motherboard, and made mistakes ordering the parts, prolonging it being "fixed.") That is all I can figure out, because as I said, he was speaking in a very condescending and dismissive manner. Oh, and he even asked if we would have even noticed if a button wasn't working before. It was the enter, backspace, and letter D (at least). Um yes, those are buttons that would be noticed!!! Bottom line- I took it in for one issue (the ONLY thing wrong with it, I guarantee), they admittedly created another issue in the process of fixing it, and I brought it home with two more issues, and on top of that, I, THE COSTUMER, was talked to in such an inappropriate manner. I left with the laptop, and they have all the money I paid them, and now it still can't be used. read more
