They basically rebuilt the trike. And went out of their way to help me get the U Haul pickup truck back before the 24 hours were up. I just purchased a jogging stroller and had no clue about the tires, how to take out some of the air either. He helped me out, and told me to never use an automatic air pump, but to use a specific type of bike pump. Though I didn't purchase anything, they were great and just nice all around. The folks at Action Bikes are amazing. A friend recommended the shop to me. I had been meaning to stop by for months but didn't want to deal with the hassle of a salesman since I'm basically a newb when it comes to cycling. My last bike was my BMX my mom bought at walmart in like 1990 or something. Anyway, so zero idea what I'm looking for except that I had done extensive research online. I knew I wanted a gravel bike in case I ever wanted to dip my toes in light off road fun. I had read so many reviews of entry level gravel bikes, so I knew they were going to be on the expensive side (relative to my budget) but wouldn't break the bank. Some of the brands I read about were Trek, Cannondale, & Fuji. I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon a few hours before they were set to close. Immediately when you walk in you're greeted by tons of bikes--everything from road racing stuff to mountain bikes, and a few gravel. I knew from my online search that Action Bikes was a Fuji retailer. Unfortunately, the Fuji I wanted wasn't available in my size. But they did have a Fuji Jari 1.3 or 1.5. It was on the upper end of what I was willing to spend. There was also a Cannondale Topstone 4. I had read great reviews about it so I was stoked to see it in stock. Howard (the owner) came over to me and we chatted a bit. I explained what I was looking for and he directed me to both the Fuji and the Cannondale. Three things: Howard can talk, he's a fountain of knowledge, and he never once tried to upsell me on their most expensive bike. After some small talk, Howard kindly fitted a test bike out so I could ride it around the parking lot. No pressure just let me be. I purchased the Cannondale shortly thereafter for a reasonable price given the market. Two things I don't like about the Cannondale: the light blue colorway & the microshift gear set. My cyclist friends said to look for Sram, Shimano, or the like. My understanding is COVID may have forced cannondale to go with this type of gearset out of necessity. I don't know. We'll see how it holds up. It's also a 1x10 which Howard said is what the pros are used to but I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing for a newb. But this has nothing to do with Action Bikes. They just resell what brands send them. I would have totally went for the Fuji if they had it in my size. Since it was so late in the day, Howard said he'd have the bike ready on Monday. I stopped by after work and the bike was ready to go after a few minor adjustments from Chris. Howard threw in some swag--two water bottles w/ racks, some allen wrenches because the topstone doesn't have a quick release and he knew I needed it to fit into my accord, and a spare inner tube. Chris helped me load the bike into my backseat and that's that. Painless-- perhaps even pleasurable?!--sales experience. Howard & the guys at the shop invited me to their weekly ride on Sunday. Super friendly guys. I'd recommend Action Bikes to anyone. read more

A week ago, I went to Action Bikes. I was helped by Howard. I informed Howard that I had a bike I was thinking about having a full tune up done on and that I was also considering purchasing a new bike. Howard was absolutely NO help at all. Howard went into a short dissertation about how his shop actually makes more money in repairs that in a sale of a new bike. I told Howard about the two bikes I was considering purchasing, but he didn't ask me a single question about how I would be using the bike, how often or when/where. Howard then went over to get a binder and showed me, rather braggadociosly, all of his bike rides and the distances he had ridden. Wow, Howard! You're so great and BORING! I left shaking my head in bewilderment. I had just told a salesperson that I was ready to spend money at his shop and on the inside of ten minutes, Howard talked me out of doing so. Rather than just try to sell me a bike, he went out of his way to explain various bike options and that would or would not fit the type of riding I would be doing. The customer service at action bikes is unparalleled. I wanted to get into cycling, and actually am planning on doing a tour of the U.S. now. When I came in, I knew nothing about bicycles and they were so patient with me. I wanted a vintage style Fuji touring bike, and they gave me all of the information. Eventually they talked me into a 29er instead. They really cared about my goals and which bike I got. The vintage touring bike and the 29er were almost the same price, so I know they weren't just trying to squeeze money out of me. In fact, you will never feel like that here because the owner and employees are truly doing it just because they love cycling. Anyways, they took a huge amount of time with me, helping me choose over a period of days. When my fiancé wanted to buy a bicycle, they did the same thing with him. The fact their rating is so high tells me one thing... either they paid for these reviews or all of them are white/looked white when they went into the store. Today my husband went in and was there for 10-15 minutes. No one ever asked him if he needed help nor did they ever acknowledge him. When a white woman walked in, at least two workers immediately said hello and asked if she needed help, practically falling over themselves to help her. I told him maybe they saw an "easy mark" who would buy whatever they suggested, but he said then a white man walked in and got the same treatment. Needless to say, the workers were also melanin-challenged, which explains it all. I am not one to cry "racism" for any little thing, but this was pretty obvious. This makes me angry that we ever bought two bikes there but I can tell you this, we will never return and hope that those who expect to be treated fairly don't shop there either. If you are okay with people of color being treated this way, by all means have at it. Side note, the owner was friendly enough when we purchased the bikes before and he was busy today. Maybe it is just the two workers that were there but this type of behavior has to have happened before and it is his responsibility to make sure his customers are treated the same across the board. read more

I bought a used Trek online and it had some issues. I brought it here and they named several issues because it was an older bike. The bike was ready the next day and the price was less than what was quoted. I appreciate that they didn't change out a part that they found was not damaged even though it was in the original quote.
