Tim fixed our Kenmore fridge poor cooling problem led by control panel showing "SY EF" (translates to evaporator circuit fan) error code. What makes Tim stand out is that he makes himself available to us, try his best and venture out for our fridge problems, easy-going personality and very competitive service charge. Tim returned my initial call promptly, came out the next day, quickly diagnosed the problem with our washing machine, quickly found and ordered the right parts on the spot, received the parts within a couple of days and immediately fixed our machine (replacing several major parts). Tim seemed highly knowledgeable and experienced with this type of repair. Tim's initial estimate was spot on (labor and parts) and his rates are, I think, highly competitive. Tim has fixed several appliances for us now: a dishwasher with a broken pump, a front-loading washing machine with a faulty door lock mechanism... and the washing machine again with a leaking drainage tube. He's very reasonable and forthcoming with the cost of both labor and parts, and even charged lower than estimate on one job because it took a good chunk less time than he thought it would. My washing machine started giving an error code on a Saturday night so I turned to Yelp to look for a reputable repair company. I sent out a request for an estimate that night. Sunday I received a response from Tim at Action Appliance Service asking me a few questions (Pretty impressive since it's his day off). He figured out what part I needed and ordered it. He received the part on Monday and scheduled me in for an appointment on Tuesday. After about 20 minutes my washing machine was back up and running. My Freezer suddenly quit working and Tim was able to squeeze me in between his busy schedule to come and assess the problem. After determining which part was needed, he gave me an very reasonable estimate and agreed on a price including his labor. After a couple of days, the part arrived and Tim installed the switch which fixed the problem. Our oven went on the fritz and we couldn't afford to put out a lot of money on it until next year, but wanted to know if maybe it was something easy and perhaps cheap. Discussed what the oven was doing with Tim and he recommended first to try turning the power off and back on again. That did the trick and didn't cost us a thing. Drier broke just before New Year's and Tim was quick to get us on the schedule. Listened over the phone to the problem and the sound the dryer was making, diagnosed the problem, and ordered the motor before even setting foot in the house. Sure enough, the motor was the issue. he replaced it, recommended a few other small repairs in the future and discussed how to manage them ourselves or offered to come back and do it. Our dryer stopped working on Monday morning. We called no fewer than four places, and only Action was able to come the next day. The technician was very clear about costs on the phone, and what the issue might possibly be - the motor needing to be replaced. They were able to determine it was not the motor, but a less expensive/fixable issue, and were done in less than an hour. Grateful for the honest & quick service. Tim came over to fix the washing machine on a Friday, that stopped working, and then not 20 minutes after he left the watching machine started leaking, a new problem. After calling him he said he could nor come over until the next day. Waiting until 6pm he finally came over and denied being responsible while at the same time asking for another $500 plus labor. He was very manipulative and unclear about what the problem was. His behavior was shady and our concerns were dismissed with a condescending dodge. This was a very negative experience and we are looking for someone else to help solve the problem. Avoid Action Appliance if you can. read more
