We needed our furnace serviced and was quoted a certain rate which included addressing a leak. The repair person they later sent to do the job said he wasn't trained and didn't have the tools to repair the leak or perform any services other than a minimal cleaning. We called to schedule having the job done and they said they could come back for more money. It took several phone calls, speaking with a few managers, and a lot of stress before someone came and finish the quick (no more than five minutes) job without more money than we were quoted. read more

After four return visits and spending $950.00 the problem was still showing up. The technician said Doug the company manager would call me and adjust the bill and would be very generous in adjusting my bill because they could not repair the wall oven . Repairman came quickly which was great, but then diagnosed the issue as roller assembly, but the repairman said needed an complete kit of $390 which was the only way to order the rollers. Did some quick research that showed rollers are available at $30 each and if all 6 were needed would be $180. So $500 bill for replacing what is likely to be at most a $150 repair. It's possibly repairmen wanted to order the whole kit because didn't really now the problem - can only speculate. Called in to discuss with office and the manager couldn't comment, said only that technician could address and wouldn't be in for 2 days. No one else in the company could comment. Although the technician sat outside for 20 minutes after, almost no notes were written on the account according to the manager. Our business needs dryer working quickly so moved to competitor that is coming in today. In any event this is a rip-off. Stay away! read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, I had this company out in November of 2015 and was told it was a control board that was out on my refrigerator. Then on December 21, 2017 my ice maker was not working on the refrigerator, the tech said it was the control board again, after replacing that it still did not work, charged me $707.00 and after several visits it was a $35.00 part on my ice maker. Dumb me calls them again on November 13, 2018 because the refrigerator would not cool, the tech said it was the control board again and it would be $450.00 to repair, he said he would try to defrost it but it most likely would be the control board, he defrosted the freezer with a blow dryer and charged us $385.00, I had left so my husband paid the $385.00. Once I told him what the tech did I called to talk to the owner, the next day. Wow- never in my life have I experienced such terrible customer service. The beginning went ok, with the tech arriving on time (almost) and fixing our washing maching within a 15 minute time span. The charge was $198 which I paid on credit card. I requested a receipt so to be reimbursed by my landlord. 3 weeks and 12 phone calls later I have yet to receive a receipt, but I have got enough excuses and hang ups to choke a horse. What a mistake I made, using these folks before reading their reviews. My refrigerator needed repair. Action Appliance repairman advised me I needed a new compressor. He didn't seem too professional, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Two days later he did install and charged me $963. I paid him and asked for invoice. He advised me that I would have to get invoice from office. Over the following weeks I made 8 requests for an invoice. They repeatedly told me they were sending one, but never did. I gave up and hoped for the best. Unfortunately the refrigerator, which worked for a couple of weeks, started to fail. Freezer temperature fell and food spoiled. I had two other servicemen from other companies come out. Both told me the compressor was not working and needed to be replaced, at a cost of about $600 ($300 less than Action Appliance). I did not want to pour more money into a repair that I had already paid for once. I asked Action Appliance for a refund, which they of course refused. Their only remedy was to send one of their (probably incompetent) repairmen out to do more work. No thanks! Now I buying a new refrigerator, and I'm out $963 plus two freezer loads of food! Worst company ever! I put more money into my fridge that was only a year old then I bought for it because they kept saying it was a part that needed replacement which didn't and I would call them out again to be told another part went out and then a third time . They replaced my compressor less then a year ago and it went out again and want another 1100$ to fix. My freezer has never worked again after these people worked on it but kept investing like an idiot because I loved the fridge. The technicians were rude and unprofessional diagnosing problem with most expensive solution vs even looking at my fridge. Wow! I was just yelled out by James in the office when I voiced my concerns over a dryer repair. I had a repair person James come out last week, he stated he put in a igniter, dryer still didn't work. Although he left saying all is well. That cost me three hundred bucks. I went down the next morning to take a look and pulled the dryer away from the wall. The vent was attached, there was only two screws on the panel and the electric cord was inside the panel! Thank goodness he was a bad tech or it could have been very bad especially if that cord heated up! I called back the next day saying that my dryer still didn't work. They sent Deon out. Well Deon, although very nice, said I needed a coil. Ok, another $75.00 and had to wait another day. He comes out replaces the coil says all is well. I threw a load in (unfortunately after he left. It worked for about 10 min then no heat. Called again and got Colman, again nice guy, tells us that the igniter was never changed in the first place. Doesn't have the part so I have to wait another day. I called James, who I'm told is a manager, yesterday to voice my concern. He takes the information and promises me a call back that afternoon or at the latest this morning. At noon today I call him, leave a message. At 4:30pm I call again and tell the person answering the phone if I don't hear from someone I will dispute my charges on my credit card. That got James to finely call me back . As he was yelling at me because I was threating to "rip him off" he did finally offer me a free vent cleaning. Yeah I'm going to have them at my house again... The first interaction I had with this company was very positive. The second ....not so much. I had a technician come out a week and 1/2 ago because the spin cycle was very loud. The technician asked if it was taking longer for my cloth's to dry, I said no. He never took the back of the machine off to look inside, but just assumed that the pump was bad. The cost $333.06. I had to pay 1/2 up front as they didn't have the part in stock and it would be 3-5 day's. Low and behold I received a call the next day saying the part was in. They installed it and still the spin cycle was loud. The technician never put the washer through the full cycle ever!! They replaced the pump and I paid the remaining half. Today, I had the technician come out again, the appointment schedule was between 1-5 pm, they showed up at 6 pm without a phone call saying they would be late. I wasted a whole afternoon, not to mention that the issue was the bearings and not the pump and it would cost $770+ to repair. They told me that they would use the $333 towards these new repairs. Guess what??? I'll buy a new washer and I will get my money back from Action Appliance. The BBB will be copied on my letter to Action Appliance. Buyer beware! What a joke of a company. Please read till the end. I called them for a noisy dryer made an appointment for the next day between 8 am and 12 pm, stayed home from work and waited for them to show up. At 1:30pm I call them to find out what's going on? They informed me that they are very busy and rescheduled my appointment for the next day between 2pm and 6pm. Okay so I took off early from work the next day and waited in till 7pm for the technician to show up, he looked at the dryer and told me that he needs a couple of parts is going to cost $350 and a about 3-4 days for him to finish the job. He asked me to pay half of the cost of the repair. Payed the man and waited for the next appointment. After 4-5 days their dispatch call me to let me know that they have all the parts needed and we scheduled an appointment for next following Monday between 8am and 12pm. I was supposed to catch a flight to LA at 330pm. So Monday morning rolls around and I call them in the morning to make sure we're still on schedule, they assure me tha we are. At 1pm I had to call them and reschedule the appointment for the next week. Sure they finally showed up and completed the job. And the final straw was that after three loads of clothes that noise was back. Try to get them come look at it again however they did not show up to two scheduled appointments so I gave up. BEWARE: there is a reason this company has an "F" rating with the BBB! They responded very quickly to an online request and showed up the next day to assess my washing machine. The repairman seemed knowledgeable and immediately told me that the drain pump needed to be replaced on my 2 year old unit, but the part was on factory backorder. I spent WEEKS fighting with the manufacturer and locating the part. When the manufacturer sent their repair person under an extended warranty, it was immediately clear that the drain pump was working and he found an obstruction when he actually opened up the machine. Action Appliance clearly did NOT perform any diagnostic before claiming that the part was bad. I would NEVER have known that they were scamming me if it wasn't for the factory backorder of the part. This company is horrible. I didn't think it was possible for a business to fail so miserably in customer service. Three weeks ago, a technician from this company came to my house to fix a washing machine. He charged my roommate/landlord $1,000 to fix it. My landlord paid the technician, who allegedly "fixed" the washing machine, but the next day we noticed it still didn't work. Since then, for the last three weeks, we have been unsuccessfully trying to get someone from this company to return to our house to do the repair correctly. On four separate occasions, Action Appliance told us a technician would return to our house and fix the machine, every time they gave us a specific time of the day the technician would come for the work. Four times the technician never showed up. They never called ahead of time to tell us they weren't coming, we had to call them to find out. To make things more frustrating, each time we called to find out why the technician didn't show, they told us we were not on the schedule. It may sound like I'm exaggerating here but I'm not - four times this scenario repeated itself: Action Appliance tells us a technician will come on a particular day and time, the technician doesn't show up, we call the company and learn we were never on the schedule to begin with. Finally, on the 5th try, a technician came to our house and inspected the washing machine we already paid them $1,000 to fix. The technician told us the original technician installed an incorrect valve - he said he would return in 2 days with the correct valve to complete the repair. Two days later, he didn't show up. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!! UPDATE: A technician finally came back and he couldn't figure out why water wasn't coming into the washing machine. This was not a problem before they showed up. Not only did they not fix the issue we hired them to fix, it appears their shoddy work has created a new problem. Grand total: 4 times technicians have come to our house to repair the washing machine, 5 times they didn't show up. Almost a month later, we still have a broken washing machine. Had Action Appliance to repair dryer which quit working. Completely took apart and also cleaned out lint from pipe to outdoors. Put back together, charged $675. We called them back when it was making noise - they took it completely apart again and said it was fixed. It wasn't, so called them back for 3rd time. Said it would cost another $475 to fix because drum was out of alignment. This was a new problem, and since they had worked on it. We refused. They don't know what they are doing and caused more damage to our machine than it originally had. Don't know how they stay in business. If we had waited a week, we could have had a technician through Sears. They don't know what they are doing apparently, but know how to gouge people for money. I had the worst experience with action Appliance on the repair of my refrigerator. It started six months ago when they replaced a control panel for 600 dollars. Then today they said I needed a new compressor. Guess what - they wanted another six hundred dollars to replace that. That was just for labor. The compressor was under warranty. They also fraudulently added my electronic signature to a document that I had not reviewed & which contains deceptive information. They would not remove my signature despite a formal request. Recently my dryer broke and we were lugging our laundry down to the local laundromat and having the clothes done for us. This was running about $50.00 a week and a hassle. I asked around and nobody could really recommend a good appliance repair company. I did a Google search and found Action Appliance. I called them and they set up an appointment for August 17th. I was happy that the dryer was about to be repaired. The technician arrived on the 17th and took the dryer apart. He told me I needed a bearing kit and then he advised the job would cost about $300.00. I did think it sounded a bit high, but at this point I had already spent that much having our laundry done outside of the house. I told the tech to go ahead. JC had arrived by this point and I asked JC to hang out in the house while the repairman was there so that I could walk the dog. When I returned, the repairman was gone, the dryer was still disassembled with the drum in the hallway blocking the path from the front of the condo to the back. I asked JC where they guy went and he told me that they said they didn't have the parts with them. They had to go back to the shop to retrieve them and that he had to have a deposit of at least $250.00. He told JC that we might as well pay the whole thing. JC went ahead and gave the technician a debit card to run and then the technician told JC to sign the invoice showing that the would complete the job the following day. Keep in mind all this went down while I was out of the house. I was only gone for 20 minutes. The following day we waited. We waited all day. We started calling them in the afternoon. We were told they were busy. In the end, they just hung up on me. I felt so scammed, and stupid. Everyone knows to never pay for a service until that service has been performed. Why did we trust this company? Well, I forgot all about Sears, until I saw a Sears repair truck the next day in my area. and I was just so desperate to have the darn thing fixed. I called the bank and explained to them what happened and they reversed the charge. Unfortunately, though, Visa rules state that since we signed the invoice, the company has a right to the charge. This is why you should only write a check when paying for something like this. The bank then took the money away again and gave it to Action Appliance. I then contacted the Better Business Bureau. the BBB has had several interactions with this company, a surprising number of incidents in which the BBB has had to intervene. I was shocked and embarrassed that I had never thought to check the BBB's relationship with this company before I called them and invited them into my home. My complaint to the BBB went like this: I was charged in advance on 8/17 to repair my dryer bearing kit. Tech said he would return on 8/18. Tech never came and office hung up on me. Action appliance came to my house and told me that my dryer needed a bearing kit replaced. I told them fine ....do the job. Then the technician told me he did not have the part, that he had to go to the shop and get it and I needed to pay a deposit on the part, but the total would be 300 and the deposit was 250...so why not pay the whole thing. I did pay the whole thing. They never came back and when we called they were rude and said they were too busy with other jobs. I called and had the charge reversed. Sears came and fixed my dryer for 170.00. Now because we signed the stupid slip Action gets the 300.00 and I am going to have to go to court to get it back... what an awful experience and an awful company. Others need to be warned. Action Appliance's response: We called several times to schedule an appointment with no response or is there a record of anyone being rude and refusing to come out. On 9/23 we called again, to schedule and the women said they had already got it fixed by Sears and no mention of any rudeness or refussal to come out. We believe, that once her credit card was not reversed did she make all these claims of abuse. We are willing to refund her $170.57 ($130.12 25% cancellation fee plus $54.95 service and diagnosis ) I accepted Action's offer to refund the $170.57, as I am exhausted with this issue and there are countless tales of this same thing on the BBB's website concerning this particular establishment. I will just have to accept that the money lost was what I paid to learn a lesson. Simply awful. The technician arrived so late that I called the office to find out if they had forgotten about me. They promised he would be there in five minutes. An hour later the guy arrives, takes a look at my washing machine and informs me that it's going to cost $342 to repair. He has to order the part so I write him a check. After he leaves, we do a little research and find out they are charging almost triple what the part actually costs. So I call Action to cancel the order and am told there will be a 25% restocking fee on this already overpriced part. This is two hours after the technician left our house. We agree to the costs (initial diagnosis visit and restocking charge) and they say they will send us a refund for the remainder. Three months later, we still do not have a refund from them! Stupidly I agreed to the repair scheduled it for the following Monday and gave him my credit card for what I assumed was a parts order. Within one hour of the tech leaving we had to research the cost of dishwashers and decided we would just buy new. Called to cancel the appointment and was rudely informed that we would be subject to a 25% cancellation fee (The first time we had heard this as we had not been left with an invoice). Asked to speak with the manager and again was rudely informed that we would need to call back on Monday if we wanted to talk to a manager. I called Monday, explained my situation, and was informed that no managers were available as they were all preparing to go into a meeting. Never received a call back and the charge FOR THE FULL AMOUNT had cleared on my credit card. Disputed the charge with my credit card company regretfully informed me that because, of my own stupidity, I was responsible for the 25% cancellation fee. I take responsibility for my own ignorance; however the 25% cancellation fee was never communicated to us. Nor was the fact that my card would be charged on Saturday when the service was not scheduled until the following Monday. They're calling staff is rude and their business practices unethical. As I am writing this review, it is now 3 hours past their 4 hour scheduled window. They have no respect for their customer's time nor do they offer any type of solutions. They don't provide updates. I keep being told the tech will be there in an hour, & then an hour passes, & guess what? They're still not here. Do they provide you with any proactive updates? No, I have to call them each time their promise expires. For the first appointment to look at my AC they waited until the absolute last minute in the window to call to say they wouldn't be able to make it, rescheduled for the next day. Again no show, this time they called well after the appointment window to say they couldn't make it, promised they would the next day. Should have went with some else at that point but gave them a chance. A tech did eventually show up, said the problem was compressor being low on coolant, charged an exorbitant amount to fill the compressor and took a quick look at the furnace and headed off. No improvement in cooling at all - later discovered that air filters had been being installed incorrectly (would have thought that would have been obvious to the tech), and the system was full of hair and had frozen up. Ended up pulling the blower myself and removing a bunch of hair and let the system set for a while to thaw and system was good to go, no thanks to them. Multiple calls to them to try to come to a resolution as I feel I paid them to fix my AC but they most certainly did not, consistently told someone would call back and they never do. I'd give them zero stars if possible! First off, they were supposed to come out by 12:00 noon on June 13 to address an issue I was having with my air conditioning. They ended up showing at 10:30 PM. I understand things come up, and jobs go sideways, so I wasn't upset about that. Stuff happens. Then they came out to my house on June 15, 2017. First thing the tech did was to try to tell my wife we needed a new water heater (AC service call turns into a need for a water heater??). The tech followed that up by saying the issue was a zone controller for the AC unit, and it would cost us $1600.00 to replace it, but if we bought a new tankless water heater, they'd give us the zone controller for free - really?? I also found the Zone Controller online for $400 - can we say gouging? Had another AC repair company (888 Heating) out this AM (loved them!). Turns out the whole issue was that the temperature sensor for the zone controller was getting too cold, because my AC is oversized for my house. While it may not be a long term fix, the recommended Step 1 was to remove the sensor. The cost $150!! Stay away from Action! Unscrupulous bait and switch company! read more

We had them come look at our gas stove and our gas fireplace as they'd stopped working. I was told I'd need to play $54 for the visit. Okay- agreed. After that, it all fell away. The guy did nothing but try to up-sell and convince us we needed a horrible warranty for THREE months of coverage. He gave his spiel to every one of us over and over. Repair wise: TOTAL ESTIMATE- $1100. $900 for fireplace - $235 for stove. My father came over with the part and fixed BOTH in 10 minutes for $34!!! For the stove- I FIXED IT IN TEN SECONDS WHEN HE LEFT!!! All I needed to do was pull a washer out of knob hole. He didn't even try to pull the washer out and said we needed all new washers- dinky little rubber washers. As soon as he left, I fished the washer out and put it back in place- voila, it worked. I called to let them know that we no longer needed the work done as we were able to fix it all for $34 dollars and they were going to charge us $1100.00. The "Manager" was a RUDE, unprofessional character who spoke down to me informing me that we were responsible for 25% of the total cost of the visit due. Are you kidding me!? I told her I'd gladly pay for the $54 trip fee, but nothing further. She lectured me on needing to read something before signing, and was condescending, rude, aggressive, and completely unapologetic. I AM TAKING THIS UP WITH THE BBB, AND WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD...PERHAPS THAT PERSON IS THE "MANAGER" OF THIS COMPANY- IN WHICH CASE, HAVE AT IT, TAKE A DOSE OF YOUR OWN CRIMINAL MEDICINE. Dillon was great! He was prompt and fixed an issues that had been caused by a previous tech. He was very friendly and helpful! Although Dillon was awesome, my overall experience has been dismal. There were several instances of miscommunication with the office and many times appointments were later than planned or no-shows. I am very unsure of my decision to use Action Appliance again. read more

So this was an awful experience and I hope my review will steer others from Action Appliance. I won't get into the details of 3 missed appointments and no-call/no-shows, but in short I was taken for about $250. Had a Samsung dishwasher that needed a water level sensor replaced. Due to my own naiveness I called before seeing all the negative Yelp reviews and BBB cases against Action Appliance. First guy came out replaced the "broken part", and started the dishwasher. Five minutes into the cycle I then got a water leak error which was not happening before. Luckily, I caught the "technician" driving off and explained the issue. He came back in and 3 hours later explained that there was glue applied and needed to dry overnight. Glue? On the inside of a dishwasher? I waited overnight and still got the same error. I called immediately and was told a senior technician needed to come out. 2 days later I had a 25 year-old "senior technician" come out. He explained that 3 more parts were broken and I needed to simply pay for the parts. He continued saying the office would call me with price and availability. 3 days later, no call. I then called requesting a refund and for the manager to contact me. They said no refund and the 3 parts and labor (although labor cost was not mentioned by the tech) that it would be $260 more. I was done at this point. No manager ever contacted me. So I called another company. They came out and found the dishwasher was not reassembled correctly! 20 minutes later I had a working dishwasher. I explained this to Action (still no all from manager) and they were still reluctant to refund although I had proof they didn't fix the dishwasher appropriately. This 2nd company even explained how much they have heard about these "idiots." A BBB case was opened but they are just blatantly lying at this point. In short, I paid Action Appliance $250 to break my dishwasher worse than it was before. They lie to the BBB, and the manager is too much of a coward to call. 'Are you having a great day?" They will ask this when you call. I would have if I had never contacted. Avoid this company at all cost! My next step is to contact the attorney general to get these idiots exposed. read more

I don't understand any of the bad reviews on here because these guys were great. All other repair services had a six day waiting period before they could come fix the dryer. These guys came immediately and were in and out in under one hour at a reasonable price. I highly recommend them. read more

DO NOT USE!!! We made the mistake of using this company after our washing machine broke down ... I am wishing we would have turned to yelp. 20 hours of waiting around and 500.00 of our money gone -- we still have a broken washing machine (which is leaking more now that before). No one will come back to look at the issues they caused. I will be filing a formal complaint with the BBB. read more
