DO NOT USE THIS REPAIR SERVICE! Borderline Fraud..... I had Action Appliance come out to repair my Whirlpool refrigerator that was less than 3 years old. The diagnosis was that 2 control panels had failed (repairman did not specify which ones but with research, I identified them as the power supply board and refrigerator control board). Red flag #1, repairman collects full payment prior to repair, red flag #2, invoice does not break out parts and labor. Red flag #3, called Action and requested a breakout of parts and labor - absolutely refused. Bottom line - Charged $1,174 for a repair that took less than 30 minutes. When queried, the repairman said "those boards are really expensive". Research - refrigerator control board cost $138, power supply board with cord $325, total parts cost = $463. What????????? Labor cost was over $700. Nice profit. read more

I will not use them again, the technician was a really cool guy, but their customer service was not good, when I was scheduled for them to come and finish the job after waiting five days for the part the window they gave me was not honored in fact I had to wait.an additional day to get the work done and they do not give you an itemized statement, it's just gives a flat rate of what you are going to pay. We scheduled to have a technician come out and repair a leaking water filter in our refrigerator and determine if we need to order a new freezer door because it had frozen shut and when we tried to open it, some of the plastic parts between the freezer door and the freezer drawer came apart. The first time they came out to determine what all was needed to be repaired they arrived an hour after the time period they had scheduled with us. They then ordered the part - freezer door - and when it came in they said that they received the incorrect door and it was also the wrong color. I was of the understanding they were reordering the correct color - stainless steel. They called and said they were ready to install the new freezer door so I assumed they had a stainless steel door. We scheduled a time period for them to come out and fix it and they called after the scheduled time period and said they didn't have time to come that day. We rescheduled it again and that day they were late again after the scheduled time. The repair was being done in a house we had just sold but since the issue with the fridge/freezer happened before we moved out it was our responsibility to have it repaired. The buyers contacted us after the technician came and installed the new freezer door and showed us a picture of what was installed and it was a black freezer door on a stainless steel refrigerator. Of course, they were upset and said it was unacceptable and they said they didn't sign the invoice the technician asked them to sign for installing the freezer door, because of this. I contacted Action Appliance and said a black door on a stainless steel refrigerator is unacceptable and their response was we can't get a stainless steel door. I wanted to know who in their company thought it was okay to have a black freezer door on a stainless steel refrigerator. They didn't let us know before they went to the house to tell us it was a black door - the technician just installed it. This is absolutely ridiculous!!! Their answer to resolving the issue was to suggest adding a black fridge door to match the freezer door. Who wants black doors on a stainless steel refrigerator. This was sooooooo frustrating as the refrigerator is only one year old. The people who bought our house are remodeling the kitchen and of course they would like a nice looking refrigerator. My dryer quit working last December and I called Action Appliance, Aurora. The technician repaired it and charged $290, which included a dryer kit (belts etc). Less than a month went by and it broke down again. Same call. Again. Same call. And one more time - this time the technician told me that we were 'overloading the dryer', plus 'there was a lint build-up', causing the issue. One day later, it broke down again. I called another company and after inspection I was told that the belt was 'not the right size' and had been put 'directly on the drum'. That frayed the belt and caused the drum to come off, causing the issue. I called Action Appliance to apprise them of the issue and the lady told me that they would have a word with the technician. I requested to talk to the manager/owner and was promised he would call back. Hasn't happened. read more

I called about our microwave not heating and the very unprofessional tech put a cup of hot water in it and determined that is wasn't heating, looked in the top of the microwave, didn't test anything, went back to his truck and sat there for 45 minutes and then determined that we needed all new components and it would cost $480! That's more than I bought the microwave for. The company then charged me a $75 for a trip charge. I called to complain and the manager didn't believe what I was saying was true and only said that they could send another tech out. Why would I do that? I wouldn't give them another dime of my money. BEWARE!! Unfortunately Action Appliance misdiagnosed my washer repair therefore wanted to charge me $523 to replace a water pump in my 8 month old washer that I did not need! I contacted Whirlpool as, unbeknownst to me, it was still under warranty. Action Appliance charged me a whopping 25% cancellation fee and did NO repair, actually, the repairman John spent approximately 15 minutes, didn't even try to clean the drain, before he diagnosed what he claimed was the problem. Whirlpool sent out their repairman 3 days later, the repairman fixed the washer in less than an hour that same day! When I brought this to Amy's (Actiion Appl) attention, she refused to refund my cancellation fee regardless of the fact my washer was repaired without a new water pump! I looked them up on the BBB website, they are not accredited with them for good reason...66 complaints in the last 3 years, 18 complaints in the last 12 months. Not happy at all with their service. 1st day they did not make it over , second day made it at 7:00 pm. Told me the frame of my blower motor was broke, the blower motor had broke, my heat pump was out of freon. Said it all needed to be replaced to the tune of $15,000 .I looked at it the next day. The motor had come loose from the shaft..got stuck , caused it to overheat. Burned up a part. I tightened the shaft and replaced the part. The blower started right up, but now the heat pump would not work. It had worked the day before. I noticed some wires that were loose. When the repair man pulled the motor out he disconnected the wiring. After finding this out I reconnected the wire and the heat pump started to work and it was cold..no freon needed. I will never call this company again. When I complained they did not do anything but make excuses..save your time and money...use Moore heating and air they are honest read more

So on Tuesday (1/8/19) I reached out to Action Appliance to come out to repair my washer. They gave me a window of 2-6pm. 6:30 rolls around and still no repair person. Called them and was informed they were running late, it would be a while yet, but I'm "next on the list." At 7ish I called and rescheduled with them for today from 2-6. Today they called me at 5 minutes to 6 to let me know they were running late (again), but assured me they would have someone here within 30 minutes. By 7:15...still no one. When I called I was told they were running behind, but that "I'm next on the list". Needless to say I cancelled. They aren't the only repair company around. read more

I really wish I had read the reviews first! The technician showed up at the end of the four hour window given. He determined that it was a $550 fix for my refrigerator. Paid up front and informed they would call in three days to come out with the required part. I had to finally call and ask them if the part came in. They lied and said they tried to call me. I then set up an appointment for today, given a four hour time window and they no showed. Dispatch was uninformed and not helpful. Now they have my money and I am out of luck. 2.5 years ago, we had just moved into new house and the knob on our brand new Lacanche french range wasn't working. Action Appliance was listed as an authorized dealer so we called. Service repair rep came over, gave us an estimate of $1300 for a replacement switch. Brand new range, so was under warranty but Action wanted payment up front. Thankfully we refused, called Lacanche service department. The french range is mechanical; there is no single part that would cost $1300. Service department instructed us on the fix and, I think my husband fixed it himself -- or another service company fixed in 5 minutes. Do not use this company. read more

I responded to an ad for a FREE front loading Samsung clothes washing machine. The owners were frustrated that their repair bill exceeded the value of the machine. After a $600 repair quote from Action Appliance, they assumed it is only good for scrap or to anyone wanting to deal with the cost of making it whole again. They noted that the water level switch was bad, the door lock was faulty, and the inlet valves malfunctioned. The ONLY thing wrong with it was the water level switch. Simple logic would suggest the machine should not open or fill with more water if the switch signaled a full tub. Three screws and a part swap and l finished repairing the free washing machine that was quoted $600 for repairs which only required a $10 part. The really sad thing about this experience is that they are the professionals who do this daily. I watched a youtube video. The service here was horrible. They were over 3 hours like for the time frame. Would show up unannounced to do "repairs" and would not give me any updates on when my washing machine was fixed. When they did finally "fix" my washing machine the technician put in the motor wrong and the machine broke drum broke a month later. Sent unqualified technician without correct tools, as per technician, who proceeded to try to repair wash machine,spending 3 hours without success. Came back 3 times before repair complete. Did not have tarp nor towels, used ours and destroyed towels and rug with grease. Damaged walls and door. After 4 attempts and 2 last minute cancels did not complete repair on dishwasher. Kept saying more parts required when original estimate was for simple water valve replacement. Manager refused second request for another technician, refused to request owner to follow up or settle Bill as we refused to have them back in our home after somewhat threatening remarks made by manager. We had a fridge fixed by this company a few months back. All was good after we corrected the issue. 93 days later, our fridge started making the exact same noise and has now stopped working. When we called to have it fixed again under what we were told by the service tech was a one year warranty, we were informed that it was a 90 day warranty and that they have a firm policy of not extending that. I asked if any exceptions could be made, as it was literally 3 days after and the "customer service rep" replied with a "absolutely not". Needless to say, we will not be doing business with this company any longer and I strongly encourage that nobody else does either. The guy came to my house and asked me to leave so he could evaluate the problem. After an adequate amount of time, I asked what was taking so long. He told me the issue and I said, "I know, that's why I called". He quoted me an outrageous price (approx $1,200) on my water heater and proceeded to tell me that I get what I pay for. He said my residential house needed a commercial grade water heater and he'd give me a 10 year warranty. Wow! my residential water heater by Whirlpool gives me a 12 year warranty. After going back/forth with him I asked him to leave. I should also mention that when I called for the appointment, they called back to confirm work on my furnace... Uh, no... Water heater! The service man told us he could have it repaired in 3-5 business days. 6 days later I call them because they didn't contact us and i am told the part is on back order and it will be 30-60 days. We hired them to replace the heating element and the loud squeaking from our dryer. The said they would replace the element and lube/clean it to solve the squeaking for $416. We reluctantly agreed because it is an old dryer that only cost about $500 over 10 years ago. The squeaking returned a few weeks later, and when they came back out... they said it now needs another part and would be an additional $300. We NEVER would have spent this much if they had diagnosed correctly the first time. We had a technician out on 7/9/2021 because our Kenmore side by side was not getting cold or making ice. Almost immediately he told us the compressor was bad and would need to be replaced for a cost of $1089. He left it unplugged and said we should not plug it back until the compressor could be replaced. We reconnected it after a couple hours and it worked fine. We had Sears send someone out on the 12th who told us the compressor was working and it just needed a good cleaning. Our dishwasher needed repair. Joe was our technician. The repair took longer than we expected due to a part that needed to be ordered. The part came in, Joe installed and our dishwasher is better than new. Joe is professional, courteous, knowledgeable and efficient. Amy in the main office was great. She listened to my frustration and did everything in her power to get the part in her hands, then to Joe for installation. She has a thankless job and probably only hears mostly the complaints. Joe and Amy are the reasons we will continue to use Action for future repair needs. In the past, we've had refrigerator repairs and the service was excellent and fixed the same day. read more

Very bad experience with this company. We were told by the tech that our refrigerator's compressor was faulty and required replacement for over $800. When asked if it could be the overload relay the technician said it could not be, because he had checked and the "compressor was getting power". The next day I received an overload relay from Amazon.com ($77)and installed it in the refrigerator. Fridge has been working perfectly ever since. As a result I called Action Appliance and asked for a refund. The refund was never issued. I called back and was given a bouncing email address for the manager. I can't even give a star but have no choice but to pick 1 star. Initial visit to look to see what's needed on our refrigerator was great. I completed trusted the man and his word. He mentioned he had to order a part. Part came in rather quickly and I received a call on a Friday night that the part was in and the tech can come out the following Wednesday between 8-12. Wednesday came and no tech and no call. I called the business and get blocked by the gate keepers. They are full of "UM's" and "I don't know's". I ask to speak to a manager and they are NEVER available. Finally get a call later that afternoon and get rescheduled for Friday of the same week. Once again Friday came with no call and no show. Spoke with multiple people only to get every excuse of injuries and the same answers of I DON'T KNOW. Spoke with an Amy that did not apologize and say how the girls answering the phones don't know what they're doing. Spoke with a Nancy that has been there for 30 years and was the kindest person. Finally spoke with an Alesa and got us rescheduled again with lots of promises. However we were threatened that if cancel an appointment we'd have to pay a % yet all they did was never show up. Then was told I can get a discount if I give a positive review on google/yelp and whatever else. So bribery was in place. What was I going to give a positive review on? At the end of the day, the tech finally showed up after the 3rd scheduled appointment and I didn't see him open anything to show a new part. He did some turning of tools and moaned and groaned and said all done. Come to find out, they got our money and didn't fix anything. They are running a scam for sure. A technician came out 1 month ago, June 13th. He was supposed to come sometime between 8am-12pm. He actually got there at 2pm. They didn't call me with any updates about him being late, I had to call them and ask where he was. Twice! I should have cancelled then! He determined that he needed a new gas regulator but didn't have the part on hand. He found the part and ordered it then (supposedly). We signed over about $400 to him for that day's work, the part and out future appt. He said we'd get a call on or about the 17th-18th. On the 19th, I get a call saying the part isn't in yet, but they expect it monday the 22nd and to expect a call then to schedule. By the 30th, I had never gotten a call from them and I called 3 times that day. The first time they dropped my call. The second time the assistant said she would call the technician and get back to me in 10-15 min. After an hour I called a third time, this other assistant said the part hadn't even been ordered yet! Then she said, "oh no wait, it has. Let me call Sears, who we ordered it from, and find out what's going on." I asked when I should expect a call, she said 30-45 min. An hour later I called and got a third person who said it might be there and hasn't gotten "checked in" yet. After several more weeks of the same run-around ("I'll call you back later today and let you know what the status of the part is."), I've decided that I've had enough. I call to ask for a refund and get told that there will be a 20% charge because they ordered the part. Which time??? I asked to speak to a manager and Tiffany said she would leave them a note and they would return my call when they felt like it. I'm not waiting for any more calls that I won't get. I'm going to dispute the charges on my credit card and file a complaint with the BBB. I think this is fraud. They have no intention of actually fixing my oven. Buyer Beware! I accidentally called this company for a washing machine repair. Wish I had read these reviews first. Technician arrived hours after scheduled window. Tech ran the diagnostics and I determined was not worth cost of the repair. Didn't realize until after he left that the machine full of water. Since the drain pump was non functional I spent my time manually bailing and draining out the water. I called the company but they refused to resolve the issue or refund any portion of the service cost. However they did admit the tech should not of left the washer full of water.... but did not provide any satisfaction. The service technician from Action Appliance showed up within the promised time frame. Dave was friendly, clean, and fast. Our refrigerator, it turned out, was not defrosting due to a malfunction in the defrost system. He explained what he was doing each step of the way, and when he noticed that a part he was intending to replace was still functional, he revised the repair quote to save us money. As he worked he kept the area clean and left our kitchen neater than when he arrived. I will definitely use Action Appliance again next time I have an appliance in need of repair. read more

So far this has been awful, they showed up late last week, the price was high but I needed my refrigerator fixed right away. He told me the part was in town and he would be back either Saturday or Monday to fix it. He made me pay a portion upfront which is fine as long as they do their job. I called this morning to make sure we are set for today as he did not show up Saturday (Which i knew was a possibility) the customer service person seemed to have no idea what I was talking about, then she said he would be here between 2 and 6. I took off a full days work for this, it's not like I have cash to spare I am repairing my damn fridge because I can't afford a new one. at 615 he was still not here I called in to customer service who again had no idea what was going on, they said they would find out and call me back in 10 min at the most. it is now 6:45 still no call, still no repair man. Just wanted to give a follow up not only did they not show up on Monday, they rescheduled and did not show up on Tuesday either. I spoke with them this morning and they sent a different tech out to do the work. The new tech did arrive on time unfortunately he did not fix the fridge. They send another tech out who said that they original part they replace did not need to be and that was not the issue. He said he would pick up the right part the following day and return. He did not. In fact they have now missed 3 more appointments. I demanded a refund so that I could hire a different company, They will not give me one. They have now stolen my money. I had to file a suit in small claims court for the full amount paid plus the cost of the time I had to take off work for the missed appointments and the legal proceedings. This company is not trustworthy. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!!! Today is trial day. I will keep you all posted. Nothing but Crookes and thieves. The judge agreed and awarded me a full refund. Second trip they gave me a four hour window and cancelled after I waited though the four hour window. I was home for over half the day during the week to accommodate them. I had to set next appointment on a Saturday because I couldn't afford another day to wait around for them to show or not to show. I requested to be first call because of their track record of being in capable of showing up in their window of time. They said their first appointment's start at 10AM, when I called 2 hours into my window (10-2) they told me their tech was at his first appointment at 8:30. Here I am waiting and the tech showed up at Finally, they keep raising their cost from the previous time and everything is apart and ready for the part to be put in to complete the repair, why another 100 dollars above the last bill of 260.00? This company has an "F' rating with the Better Business Bureau. There is a reason for this rating! We called for service on our heating system and the initial tech that arrived was not qualified to work on our system, so they said they would send another tech who was qualified. We rescheduled to have what they called a qualified tech. He arrived late, and wasn't able/ qualified to diagnose the reason of our issue. We did have a small gasket that needed to be replaced and the tech said he could order the part however he needed to have a deposit before he would place the order. I know you never should prepay for anything.... A week later we received a call to schedule the repair. We had a 4 hour window for the tech to arrive...... he was a no-show. We had 3 days of appointments that this company missed. Not three appointments, three days of appointments. They would tell us we were next the next stop on their schedule, and no one would show up. This went on for three days! I called to cancel our service and they told us that we would have to pay a 25% cancellation fee. That is is a 25% cancellation charge for a service they didn't arrive to do! DO NOT FALL INTO THE SAME TRAP WE DID WITH THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE CORRUPT AND A BAD BUSINESS! read more

A Benjamin Franklin professional came, remove the pipe, cleared it and rinsed it with a hose for a fraction of the price. We weren't even charged a "traveling fee", Action Appliance. These people are crooks - stay away! I called them to diagnose a dryer problem. The diagnosis was that it needed a new motherboard. One motherboard later and it was not fixed. I called them to diagnosis it again and they said the dryer vents needed cleaned out. After I paid to get the vents cleaned, the dryer still did not work. For a diagnosis company, they sure aren't very good at diagnosing the problem. To top it off, the rude employees refused to give me a partial refund. I called a new repair shop and they diagnosed it correctly and fixed it in minutes. Extremely poor communication too. read more
