The absolute most asinine company out there. I called them for a washing machine error. They charge a non refundable fee of 154 dollars just to "look" at your appliance. That should have been the red flag. Once the technician arrived he was unable to replicate it and told me the sensor repair was 522 dollars which is astronomical for just a sensor. Other companies charge half that. I decided to cancel the repair. When I called I was told there would be a 25% of the repair cost cancellation fee on a contract that I never signed and never saw or was told about. He was very unprofessional and told me he showed a different repair than what was discussed. Absolutely shady buisness. I have never been treated like that it was unbelievable and unacceptable. This place is a scam, don't believe the google reviews. I called a tech out to get my drain hose unjammed in my 2-month old washer. The technician didn't know how to do it and blamed the drain pump and told me it should come under warranty service. So I paid the trip and diagnosis fee and called the manufacturer. Fast forward to the authorized manufacture technician and it took him 10 minutes to take it apart and clear the dog hair out of the hose. The pump worked perfectly fine. I don't mind paying a trip and diagnosis fee but this company needs to send a qualified technician out that knows what he was doing! I knew we were off to a bad start when he starred at the machine for a few minutes wondering what to do and how to open it up. I know they're building more technology into these machines but the technician needs to keep up with the changes. I agree he spent a lot of time in the machine trying to figure things out but if he was qualified in the first place he would have known where to go to fix the problem. It's a bad sign when he puts the machine back together and tells me not to tell the warranty guy he was in there or it will void my warranty. I should have done my homework. I'd have seen the terrible Yelp reviews and their "F" rating by the better business bureau. They charged $154 just to come out and look at our at washing machine and to tell us that the problem was probably what we already thought it was: a clogged water inlet valve. When asked if they could fix it that day (a Saturday) they said they had the part in stock, but that their warehouse was closed on weekends. (So much for their representations about same day repairs - not on a weekend if you need a part.) Then they gave us an estimate of $640 to return and replace the valve on Monday. We declined. We found the part on Amazon for less than $24, watched a couple U-tube DIY videos and did the replacement ourselves with less than an hour of work. It works fine now. And we aren't even mechanically trained or talented. Just a couple of old arthritic folks. For the love of God, don't use this outfit for anything. read more

I had Action come out on Monday to assess the problem with my refrigerator. The tech told me he could come the next day with the part. I was not able to be home the next day so he said they could come on Wednesday which is today. I spoke with someone yesterday morning Tuesday who confirmed I was on their schedule. Called again this morning and was told I would be called 30 minutes before they would arrive. I waited all day today until 2 o'clock, called again just to get an update, I was told I was not on their schedule today. Agreed to have them come tonight between four and eight which is very late but I have to have it done today because I'm not available the rest of the week plus this is my refrigerator. I've hired them before and they were excellent, not sure what's going on now. Wasn't real impressed with the front end staff with whom I spoke with either. They repaired our dishwasher. It works great. BUT, during the repair, they scratched our flooring very badly. We spoke to the owner and she required us to either pay the $127 second half of bill, and have a person come out to estimate our house for the floor repairs and then they would cover floor repairs. OR we could not pay the $127 and call it even. we obliged to pay the $127 if they provided us insurance information to ensure they followed through with the repairs. the owner refused to give us the insurance information or contractor license number. the owner then threatened this would be a lot worse for us then it will be for them, and then hung up. I wish I could give negative stars. This is THE WORST company ever. Never use them. I only was stuck using them because the previous home owners bought us this "warranty" on our ovens. They never are on time, cancel on you 2 of the 3 times. Never know what's going on, what the eta is and have now been out 6 times and still haven't figured out what's wrong with our ovens. They just make guesses and charge you. Even walked in on the guy just trying to figure out an answer with the instruction guide that came with ovens. Definitely didn't inspire confidence. In March the dryer was making noises again and a Technician came out and could not find the problem. Now I am having the same problem I had last December and they want to charge me $400 to do the same exact parts replacement. You tell me whether you think that you should replace $400 worth of parts in your dryer every 10 months. When I asked they said they only wanted their parts and labour for 90 days. They were also pretty rude to me on the phone and wanted to argue opposed to trying to find a solution. I will never use this company again. read more

bad customer service, they overcharge for their service, they are not trustworthy, after the technician came out, my icemaker needed replaced, it was working before he came out but had a small leak, after he came it was leaking in 4 or 5 places and could no longer be used! he told me we needed a new one that would cost around $800.00, and i didn't actually need a new one until he came out and took mine apart twice, when i asked him the problem, he said it was a seal inside the ice maker, "no such thing"! i asked him to show me he just pointed to my icemaker and said it's in there???? anyway, since he either broke it or didn't put it back together properly we did have to purchase a new icemaker, it costed less than $200.00 online and took my husband less than half an hour to install it is working perfect now! do use them, chances are good that you will be overcharged and their work ethic is very poor! read more

I recently called Action Appliance Repair to diagnose my washing machine. I was provided a quote to repair the washing machine. Today as the technician was supposed to repair the washing machine and the evening manager called me to let me know the company had made a mistake. The quote provided to me on the 29th of November of $248 was actually now $400 and the only thing the manager had to say was sorry and "the quoted repair price was subject to change". When I called back to cancel the repair since the technician had still not shown up, I was told I would be charged a 25% cancellation fee, trip fee and diagnostic fee (which had already been paid). Home owner beware, Action Appliance Repair can and will change their quoted price. read more

As update here- we had them come back a few more times as the problem still had not been fixed. We were then told that we would have to replace the entire unit, which would cost $3900. We then decided to get a second opinion. This second contractor fixed the cooler within an hour, and he actually said it looked like the cooler had been purposely tampered with, but that there was no reason that he would recommend replacing the unit. Since I had been told that Action Appliance offers a 90 day guarantee on their services, we have now been pursuing a refund for several days only to be told that they have no idea how long it will take and that the supervisors are out of the office until next week, AND that they need proof that the cooler was fixed in order to even begin the process of refund. All that being said even though they have a 90 day guarantee on services, and they in fact did not fix our cooler. The office staff has been exceptionally rude during this process, and during my last call with them, I was interrupted, yelled at, and actually just placed on hold without a word because she just didn't want to speak to me anymore. I am in awe of the horrendous customer service that we've experienced, and I am now pursuing every avenue to get refunded. I only hope that sharing our experience on here lessens the amount of business that this company ever gets again. read more

Dangerously terrible service. Action Tech came for routine AC check. Turned off breaker to AC and never turned it back on. He disabled a functioning AC. Homeowner is 97, with no AC for a full week. We waited on multiple days (waiting hours in a house approaching 90 degrees) for promised tech, who never showed up. This company is literally a freaking scam. The technicians are ALWAYS late. But that would have been fine with me. However, I have had 3 different technicians come in and tell me three different things after selling me $360 worth of service. They told me my AC is very good condition but because it was still not working after two technician visits, the senior technician finally showed up and tells me that I need to replace it. I called them explaining my situation and I was told I'd get a call back. 3 days later, no call back. I am on hold right now and they keep putting me on hold on purpose. I know its on purpose because they never put me on hold this long before. The second technician didn't even know what he was doing. He didn't even know which filters to change. The measurements were wrong and its took this technician 3 hours to clean my furnace, AC unit, and change 2 filters. This typically takes 1 hour. I DO NOT recommend this company at all. WATCH OUT- not to be trusted. I made the mistake of a quick decision and learned my lesson. A job that was supposed to be done in 3-5 days is still incomplete after 10 days. There is absolutely no customer service. They refuse to itemize pricing but you won't know this until after you pay half and they send you an invoice with no breakdown just one price. When you ask for a manager, whoever you are speaking to, will claim to be one. If you persist they give you a first name, no last name, of a woman who never intends to call you back. She told me that herself when I kept calling. She had no intention of calling because she has no intention of doing anything. Best manager job ever, I guess. We called action to repair our ice maker in refer. The repair man came in and opened the freezer door took one cover off, closed the door. Then spend the next 15 minutes looking at his laptop. At that time he told us we need a new ice maker, which cost $617. And the Installation fee would be $100. Needless to say I told him to forget it. So we paid him $54 for the service call. After he left we took a look at it and found a piece of ice stuck in the water inlet tray. Took the pc of ice out. And it's been making plenty of ice ever since. Also l looked up the price of a new ice maker under the part no. And a new one cost $343. I would not recommend this company to anyone. We have a fairly new Samsung Dryer (poorly built) that went down/was squawking pretty badly; I replaced the idler pulley/two wheels/rollers and fixed that issue; in the process of cleaning out the bay area, I broke the igniter, so our clothes weren't drying. Called and made an appt./ took off work to be there for the 8 a.m.-12:00 window; 11:15 called when no one showed up/got a call back that the tech couldn't make it. ? We'll try for tomorrow--I requested they be out later that day, I couldn't afford another day off; they came out around 7pm and diagnosed the issue. I was very pleased w/ John and his training associate and their professionalism. Got the part ordered, and made an appt. for Friday 4-8pm window to install; got a call around 7pm that indeed the tech would not be able to make it---I'm a patient man, but please. I was told they would be back out on Monday. I said that wouldn't work, they needed to be out on Saturday; tech did show up (John) on Saturday and replaced the igniter/all is well. If it weren't for good techs like John, I wouldn't ever use this business. I'm also not a big fan of "not seeing what you are paying for"...every other business shows parts/labor cost...but not AA. John was exceptional---he even walked me through some considerations with our refrigerator. Hopefully if you call Action Appliance, you'll get someone like John to "hook you up". read more

It is suspicious to me that the BBB who intervened in this incident addressed their letters to Keven Derks of Action Appliance... and the good review for Action Appliance is by a Kevin D... how suspect...and probably shady. Recently my dryer broke and we were lugging our laundry down to the local laundromat and having the clothes done for us. This was running about $50.00 a week and a hassle. I asked around and nobody could really recommend a good appliance repair company. I did a Google search and found Action Appliance. I called them and they set up an appointment for August 17th. I was happy that the dryer was about to be repaired. The technician arrived on the 17th and took the dryer apart. He told me I needed a bearing kit and then he advised the job would cost about $300.00. I did think it sounded a bit high, but at this point I had already spent that much having our laundry done outside of the house. I told the tech to go ahead. JC had arrived by this point and I asked JC to hang out in the house while the repairman was there so that I could walk the dog. When I returned, the repairman was gone, the dryer was still disassembled with the drum in the hallway blocking the path from the front of the condo to the back. I asked JC where they guy went and he told me that they said they didn't have the parts with them. They had to go back to the shop to retrieve them and that he had to have a deposit of at least $250.00. He told JC that we might as well pay the whole thing. JC went ahead and gave the technician a debit card to run and then the technician told JC to sign the invoice showing that the would complete the job the following day. Keep in mind all this went down while I was out of the house. I was only gone for 20 minutes. The following day we waited. We waited all day. We started calling them in the afternoon. We were told they were busy. In the end, they just hung up on me. I felt so scammed, and stupid. Everyone knows to never pay for a service until that service has been performed. Why did we trust this company? Well, I forgot all about Sears, until I saw a Sears repair truck the next day in my area. and I was just so desperate to have the darn thing fixed. I called the bank and explained to them what happened and they reversed the charge. Unfortunately, though, Visa rules state that since we signed the invoice, the company has a right to the charge. This is why you should only write a check when paying for something like this. The bank then took the money away again and gave it to Action Appliance. I then contacted the Better Business Bureau. the BBB has had several interactions with this company, a surprising number of incidents in which the BBB has had to intervene. I was shocked and embarrassed that I had never thought to check the BBB's relationship with this company before I called them and invited them into my home. My complaint to the BBB went like this: I was charged in advance on 8/17 to repair my dryer bearing kit. Tech said he would return on 8/18. Tech never came and office hung up on me. Action appliance came to my house and told me that my dryer needed a bearing kit replaced. I told them fine ....do the job. Then the technician told me he did not have the part, that he had to go to the shop and get it and I needed to pay a deposit on the part, but the total would be 300 and the deposit was 250...so why not pay the whole thing. I did pay the whole thing. They never came back and when we called they were rude and said they were too busy with other jobs. I called and had the charge reversed. Sears came and fixed my dryer for 170.00. Now because we signed the stupid slip Action gets the 300.00 and I am going to have to go to court to get it back... what an awful experience and an awful company. Others need to be warned. Action Appliance's response: We called several times to schedule an appointment with no response or is there a record of anyone being rude and refusing to come out. On 9/23 we called again, to schedule and the women said they had already got it fixed by Sears and no mention of any rudeness or refussal to come out. We believe, that once her credit card was not reversed did she make all these claims of abuse. We are willing to refund her $170.57 ($130.12 25% cancellation fee plus $54.95 service and diagnosis) I accepted Action's offer to refund the $170.57, as I am exhausted with this issue and there are countless tales of this same thing on the BBB's website concerning this particular establishment. I will just have to accept that the money lost was what I paid to learn a lesson. Do my research first, check with the Better Business Bureau, and NEVER pay until the service has been completed properly. read more

I've used Action on a couple of occasions. The first was great - the repairman was on time, friendly, fast and did excellent work. However, when I had to call them back for another repair a year or so later, I had a much less satisfying experience. I made an appointment and took time off from work to wait for my repair person to arrive. When no one showed up, I called the shop to ask when someone would be there and let them no that the person never arrived. The kid who answered told me "Oh yeah, he won't be there today". Hmm. Ok, so I asked if they were going to let me know about that and he stated "I just did". I don't do business with companies who treat me with such blatant disrespect, so unfortunately, I will have to find another appliance repair shop. read more

This company is run by crooks. I too am filing a compliant with the BBB. My garbage disposal wasn't working so I gave them a call. The technician, Roman came to my residence when I wasn't there(I have a tenant). He cut the wires to the disposal and then gave me a $500+ estimate for a new disposal. I knew at this moment I was being exploited/robbed. I called my handy man and he went to my apartment, reconnected the cords, made a small repair to the disposal, got pissed off at the unprofessional and fraudulent behavior of this company. Wow.. I don't even know where to begin. The office staff are so rude and clueless. They don't call you by name, just refer to you as an address. The techs are completely incompetent. After their 5th visit today, and I still don't have a working microwave, I fired them. 5 visits, 4 hour windows per visit plus an additional 4 hours they showed up after the scheduled time window. That's 24 hours of life wasted on this company. I tried to get a hold of a manager &/or the owner but was denied access by the receptionist. This is the worst experience I have ever had with an Appliance company. The company I usually use was not available to come out for a couple of days so I called Action Appliance. They sent someone out the same day. I thought this was fabulous until they charged me over $1,300 to fix my refrigerator which was in fact not fixed. They came out a couple of days later and told me I needed another part for $236 and they would expedite it and have it installed on Monday. Three days later there is still no part. The worst part is that I have called them 9 times in the past three days and they tell me they don't know where the part is but they will track it down and call me back but no one ever calls me back and when I call them again we start all over as if they have no idea what is going on. It is maddening. It has been 1.5 weeks since I had a functioning refrigerator and I have spent $1,600 on it. I called today and told them just to cancel the service and that I would take it up with my credit card company since they failed to perform the services and provide the part which was already charged to my credit card. I was rudely told by Amy that I was bound by a contract (that I do not have) to pay them for this part in any event. I have already filed a dispute with my credit card company and I don't believe I am bound by a contract. But be wary, they want you to pre-pay for parts without giving you receipts and bind you to contracts you don't see. I would not let these people in my house. There is a reason they have people available to come out the same day, waiting a couple of days for a reputable company is worth it. BEWARE! $1,000 AN HOUR LABOR RATE. I am always on the prowl for reliable and fair people to fix appliances in my rental properties... I took a gamble on their $54.95 service charge. Here is the result: The estimate for replacing a refrigerator condenser fan (a $50 item) was $374.00. And that generously included a new propeller fan... It so happens, the propeller is included standard with the motor. It takes a handyman 15 minutes to replace. Tools required: A screwdriver. Deducting their call rate of $55 (that covers their travel time) and the part cost of $50, I come up with a labor rate of $269 for the 15 minutes on the job. That turns into a staggering $1,076 per hour. I don't think so!! I have seen rip-offs in my time but this one takes the cake. P.S. The one thumb up should be pointing down. read more

Terrible- Short Story- the warranty is a joke. They "fixed" a no-heat dryer for $350, $35 of which was parts. It stopped working 3 days later. They came out on a warranty call and told me it would cost $310 MORE to fix the no-heat issue. I asked about the warranty- ? The tech said that the problem was due to "different" parts going bad, and was therefore not covered under the warranty. Is that a company you would want to pay more money to?
