My dryer motor died this week at age 8. Not sure if dryers have an equivalent of dog years, but it's old. I put out the usual Yelp requests for help, including here. No one else asked questions about the circumstances/situation or gave any insight beyond how much a service call costs and/or the cost of a repair. Bill educated me on what else is likely worn out on the dryer and recommended replacing it instead of spending half the cost of a new one to fix it. Then, he broke down the best brands for my needs. I called Bill to get an estimate on how much it would be to fix my 18-year-old GE dryer that wasn't drying very well. He gave me a range for the repair price that included the worst-case scenario. My dryer turned out to be the "worst case", but Bill was still able to replace the heating coil for much less (including his labor) than what a new dryer would cost. I didn't want a new dryer at all and this was the first repair the dryer had required in 18 years, so I was really happy with his service. Because I always want to know how things work, he was kind enough to explain the repair and show me where the old coil ring was toast, which was really shot. I'm happy with my interaction and feel owner is honest - of course only time will tell on a repair to a dryer for over $400, in my situation it made sense because a new one is over $600, I already paid for the service call and I wasn't sure if I could find the same model and install it in a narrow space so easily especially as it stacked on the washer, for others who plan to stay long term and not stacked so they need it matching the old one it might make sense to invest on a new one. It feels like modern dryers are made to fail after 8-10 years, the old Maytags at Grandma's house are still working after over 30 years - lol read more

After requesting a few quotes from various places to come take a look at my freezer, Bill messaged me with his number and told me to give him a ring. Over the course of several phone calls that evening, he guided me in taking apart the back of my freezer to look at specific parts and help diagnose the problem. Once we had figured out the likely cause, he gave me rough quotes for the type of work I would need and told me who to call to do it (as he didn't do the specific type of work I needed). After 1-2 hours of this, he refused to take any payment and said that he was just happy to help me figure out what was going on. I have rarely received such quality and personalized service, much less then have payment denied for that service. I had my Samsung dryer go on the fritz (the drum wouldn't turn) and upon my initial inquiry, Bill knew right away what the issue was, how to fix it, the time it would take and the approximate cost. He was also straight forward about his service call fee should he for any reason not be able to fix it. I was pretty confident he would be able to correct the issue and by the next day, he was at my home and done within 90min. Mr. Appliance came to the rescue when my stove top was emitting gas and acting like the fourth of July. I had to call 911. As soon as the firemen said my appliance was malfunctioning and turned it off, I had an appointment that same day with Mr Appliance before the firemen even left! After talking on the phone, I texted Bill a picture of our broken arm in the dishwasher, he then texted back the part we needed and explained we could order it and replace it ourselves, super easy for us to fix. I also texted him a video of our washing machine and he told us based on the video it wasn't worth fixing, it will just get worse, which we kinda figured. It's been getting worse over the past year. In an hour, everything was fixed and I not only was given a year warranty but was given a refund policy where if it didn't work within a certain period of time he'd give me my money back and take the part back.
