Where to start, where to start... Oh yeah, let's start with the basics. It's a beautiful football stadium, a jewel in the city of Pittsburgh. Bright yellow gold seats let you know whose "house" this is. Great views of the field from any vantage point. The seats are tight and cramped in the upper tiers ("nosebleeds") so bring a seat cushion if your butt aches easily. You may get whacked with whirling, waving yellow towels, get one and wave it. (Pretty inexpensive on the strip.) The hall of fame is beautiful. The best food options are on the lower two levels. The warmest spot is on the 147 concourse area if your cold. It may seem like everyone is drunk...that may be true, bodies lurch and sway from start to finish. Be on guard to catch falling drunks in the nosebleeds. We did. Minor arguments, but nothing on Dodger level fights. SAFETY. There are no physical safety measures in place. Your security team doesn't carry radios, they're no where to be found in the "nosebleeds." Watch the steps in the park. Note if there is one painted yellow in your section. It's a shorter one than the others. Watched a few snacks go flying. They will attempt to funnel you into the stairways when everyone leaves en masse at games end. Don't be suckered into that. Use the concourse. If there's a fight or emergency there's no escape. People are packed like cattle and no security available. You are trapped in a mosh pit. We were milling down and some drunk started a fight. Threatened to kill a man's mother, wife and daughter. We had to circle around the target guy to protect him. Be prepared to throw hands. Security is useless there, they only caught a streaker because he tripped. read more

Pittsburgh, thank you for being such an awesome place to visit! Came to see the Patriots play the Steelers and couldn't have asked for a better match up. This stadium is awesome...great atmosphere, great fans, and great team pride! The stadium staff from security to event staff to food service staff was very friendly and helpful. Concession food was priced fairly and service was efficient regardless of the long lines. It was easy to get to the stadium and being in Steeler country was a sight to see. It's was a little hectic going through the gates, but it was to be expected being that it was a big game. I enjoyed walking the main concourse of the stadium and checking out the memorabilia and partake in all the pre-game activities. Such an awesome vibe... so jealous--don't really have that die hard fan loyalty here in lalaland. I recommend that after the game you go hang out in the nearby restaurants/bars near the stadium along Shore Drive, walk to the riverfront or go to Primanti's in the Strip for more local flavor. read more

This review is solely based on the stadium's provision for handicapped patrons. First, purchasing tickets is risky--you purchase standard tickets and then are instructed to arrive "as early as possible" to stand in line and try to rush (clearly the person establishing these protocols has never been or supported a handicapped person) to Guest Services to exchange your ticket for a handicapped access ticket, including a plus one. As this is "first come first serve" you have no guarantee of your seat nor the ability to have a seat in a handicapped seating close to your purchased ticket. In addition, because there is a limit of a single "plus one" any other family members will not be able to enjoy the experience with them. We have had this experience before but love the Steelers so we still make the choice to go and try to make the most of it. My uncle is in the late stages of Parkinson's and limitations are heavy. During what we anticipate will be his last game, my brother and I hung around in the handicapped section with my dad and uncle as long as we could prior to the game beginning to make the memories. We were told by several security personnel, "you will need to find your seat when the game starts" to which we said that we understood. Closer to the game, a group of (3) young, attractive women, dressed in alluring attire, came and found a seat in the section next to my uncle. Like my brother and I, they did not have the permitting wristband so we anticipated we would all be leaving at the same time. However, as the game approached, we were told to find our seats and the were allowed to stay. I asked, "can you tell me why they get to stay? This is likely my family members final game and, if there are means, I would like to find those, too." There was a lot of confusion and conversation amongst the security but, eventually, we were told, "those are player family members." I have no way to verify this but do know that there are box seats and even better seats then where we were sitting. It sends a definitive message when supposed "players' family members" are routed or even permitted to take the available seats of people that struggle every step of the experience already. This occurred in section 135 at the Steelers/Dallas game. Do better Acrisure. Happy to provide pictures of the people if that helps. I'd love to know who's family's wants takes precedence over the needs of paying disabled. read more

This is a MUST for a Steelers fan. Whether you are going for a game or a stadium tour. This place is awesome. I felt right at home. The Steelers shop is also a great stop. We learned so much on our tour. This was probably one of the coolest parts of vacation. read more

Heinz Field is so good, they named a player after it (Heinz Ward). They also named a brand of beans after it, and a political wife (John Kerry's much, much, much prettier half.) A lot of locals were once miners (not minors... every local was once a minor unless their name is Benjamin Button or Benjamin Roethlisberger), and would spend a lot of time in the Pitts (hence the name of the city), and now they spend time here at this beautiful stadium. The only thing prettier that this amazing arena, is the view of it from the West End towering far above on the mountainside. One of the best views in America, nay, the world, nay, the Galaxy. First-Hand Experience: Info on my personal visit to this stadium - Having seen Heinz field from every angle (I go to Pitt all the time) and having watched a game there, I can say that it's a 5 star arena because of the fans. They are the most rabid and loudest in the NFL, regardless of what the scoreboard says. They are indirectly responsible for a lot of Steelers wins. I love them and I love this venue. It's just so beautiful, all black and gold. Come and see a game here and see for yourself. Now that I've been to every NFL stadium (current and former) and seen all 32 teams play live in the flesh, time to review them on Yelp! I love stadia! I've been to every cool sports arena in the UK & North America, it's an obsession I have with travel & sport. I've roamed America as a musician for years. In that time, I've seen sports games at (or toured when empty, or both) almost every major stadium in US/Canada. Many pictures taken which I'll upload eventually. On future travels, I'll new pix, and add more stadiums! Watch this space! ***back to regular review*** It's an amazing arena, with amazing fans, and an amazing team. It's kind of small, but then so is Pittsburgh. It's a bit open to the wind at one end, you can see everything from the outside, but then the same can be said about the girls on E Carson St on a Saturday night, so it's apropos. Not to be confused with apropuss, which is my friend in Texas. **************** If you want good food in Pitt try these: Mike and Tony's Gyro Morty's Steakhouse Burger from Burgatory and their shakes too Tacos from outside Las Palmas on Brookline Pizza from Fioris Pizzaria Bluberry Pancakes from Pamela's P & G Diner Anything from Kelly O's Chocolate Malt w/Caramel shake and Fresh Lemonade from Handel's Coconut shake from there too ***************** In other news Jamie just messaged me and said: "The player is Hines Ward, and the field is named after Heinz ketchup. No connection between the player and the field name." Thanks so much Jamie. (hugs) read more

I have come to several events at Heinz Field and I love the idea of having events here. The food is always good. I've been to events where dinner was served plated by wait staff and others with food stations. I really like the food stations. To start off when you first arrived there was like an antipasti station. At this past event there was a pasta station offering 2 types of pasta. They had plated examples of both dishes along with cheese to top your pasta and breadsticks for the side. There was a kids station that had Mac and cheese, fries, chicken tenders and other goodies. A carving station had filet along with root vegetables and mashed potatoes. There was a fish and salad station that had a citrus sea bass, along with a tossed salad and seafood salad. The seafood salad was amazing. There was a desert station with holiday cookies, a Sunday bar, bread pudding and some sort of cobbler. And last and not least a hot chocolate bar! The decor around the holidays is gorgeous and festive. The event space is huge with plenty of room to mingle and plenty of restrooms. My favorite part of any event though is the photo booth of course! Complete with silly props! read more

Just a terrific stadium! Have been here to see a few Steelers games and it was a great experience. Walking in you are struck by the vibrant yellow seats. We had tickets to field seats one time and these tickets gain you access to the field BBQ area near the end zones. It was so cool to be able to get early access and walk around the field and explore this place. Tailgating here is a must and the whole parking lot seems like a big kegger party! I have to say their food court area is awesome! Just an amazing selection of foods to choose from, plus concessions stands everywhere. From buckets of wings, to fresh carving stations, to famous Primanti Brothers sandwiches, this is a football foodies heaven! Plus, a live band plays, and walking around the Steelers Hall Of Fame area is very cool. The views that the stadium offers are killer. The river and downtown Pittsburgh, the fun Heinz Ketchup bottles on the jumbotron pouring ketchup on the screen, and great view from every seat. The only bad view is the upper rows in the end zone, as we had last row one time and I could swear the air was thinner up there we were so high up. Great sound system too. The stadium can get really windy and cold, so warm weather gear is a must if seeing a game in December. Went to one game and it was lightly snowing which was so cool. Just a wonderful stadium with a great fan base that is really into the team and supports it with all it's might. Can't wait to see another game there. read more

The stadium is fine but the management since the field began has been so-so but unfortunately has gotten much worse. Getting into the stadium in Gate A used to be easy but since they added the Champions section they have partitioned the gates into three forcing fans that sit on one side of the field to walk through crowds with chicken wire fences which adds to congestion and confusion. The fences are held in place with sandbags that are easy to trip over and makes the whole area look cheap. As you enter these fenced in areas to get to security there are no trash cans so people literally throw their beer cans & cups on the ground. The ticket scanning software is awful which results in exceedingly slow lines to get into the stadium. Be prepared to arrive 45-60 minutes ahead of time if you want to see kickoff The concessions are also ridiculous with ultra long lines which is exasperated by a "cashless mandate" which is dumb because most workers still touch your credit card. Last week they were actually running out of beer and water They've replaced the "33" club where you could get craft beer and combined it with Francos pizza so you must wait in a line serving food even if you only wanted a beer. I could go on but you get the point. I wrote to the Steelers (once in 2018 and again for the 2021 opener) but got nothing but a form letter blaming the fans for their own incompetence. I'll finish by saying that it used to be fun to go to Steelers games but they organization running the stadium is so inept my advice is to stay home, watch the game on TV, and save yourself a lot of money and frustration. read more

Started on time, the weather was great. The problem was we were not able to see the locker room or the VIP area (that's ok) The tour guide did not have a microphone or speaker, so the only people that could hear were the front 5 or 6 people. We did get to walk on the sidelines, but not on the field. We seemed to be rushed thru. The only part I liked was the 12 minute history of the Steelers video. Of course, they ended the tour with a gift shop. I feel it was not worth the money. Most of the tour were things we are going to see when we go to a game. read more

It's funny, you live in the city, you visited Three Rivers, you watched as that came down in a cloud of smoke and also watched the new stadiums being built. You have been to the North Shore on multiple occasions, visited all there is to visit around here. Yet you have never stepped foot inside until now. Tell me, how does one do that? I will tell you, you are in Pittsburgh and there are tons of things to do. When I was finally able to make my way in here I have to admit I admire what they did here. Sure, some people will complain that this place looks generic or that it is nothing more than a duplicate of other stadiums, but it is not. Heinz Field holds it's own. I'm so tired of people constantly complaining about what we have in this city instead of embracing the assets the city of Pittsburgh is blessed with. Heinz Field is a massive complex. It is huge and can hold any event that is thrown at it. From football games to hockey, Rolling Stones to Beyoncé, and many other events. This stadium is more than just football, this stadium is Pittsburgh. A symbol of pride. read more

Granted, my review might be a little biased as I'm a huge Steelers fan, but this is an awesome stadium. My boyfriend and I flew up to Pittsburgh for the Ravens playoff game (sad). We did everything so last minute, we thought for sure we'd have terrible seats. We didn't care. Uhhhhh we had AMAZING seats. 5 rows back (thanks Ticket Exchange), home side (obviously). Even if we'd had higher seats, this would've been amazing. I've been to Jerryworld, home of the Cowboys, in Dallas. That is the only other professional football stadium I've been to, but Heinz Field seriously kicks Jerryworld's ASS. The seats are better (seriously more comfortable and they feel more sturdy than some other sports stadium seats), the fans are better, the team is better (ha ha), the food is better, and there are many many more bathrooms. Man, those french fries were some of the best I've had. It seemed like this stadium was much much easier to get in and out of than Jerryworld (and other pro sports stadiums). It's amazing, as an out-of-state Steelers fan, to walk up to Heinz Stadium and think, "I'M REALLY HERE!!!" It's all you could imagine it to be and more. It'd be really fun to do a tour of the stadium (if they offer that kind of thing), were I to go back on a not super-quick whirlwind trip. Oh, and another big PRO for Heinz field? They're not trying to show off. There's not a massive fucking television above the field like at Jerryworld. No matter how much you want to watch the actual game at that stadium, you find yourself drawn to the giant tv. It's hard to avoid. Shit, it's so huge, punts occasionally hit it! At Heinz stadium, they have screens so you can see replays and whatnot, but they add to the game. They do NOT detract from it! I can't wait to come back here and plop my butt down in one of those fabulous yellow seats. read more

This review is going to be short and sweet, well, not so sweet for the Steelers. I think when the city decided to build the Steelers a new stadium, instead of building another Arrowhead Stadium like in Kansas City, they should have built a stadium that would have been a Mecca to the greatest football team in the NFL. Instead, we have a drafty stadium, with a lousy field, and really awful yellow seats. Not even a sit down restaurant. When I look at what they built in Detroit, Dallas, and Phoenix, I could just spit at what we got. Hey, Dan Rooney, when your finished being Ambassador to Ireland, go take in a baseball game at PNC Park and see what a GREAT stadium looks like. read more

This was my first time at the stadium and what a great experience! I was walking around the city and there were guys selling tickets for the game. I passed them up a few times and than I said WHY NOT! You have to live a little. Furthermore, I grew up in Pa but never went to a Steelers game. I purchased some tickets from a guy selling them near the stadium. I was really surprised at how many people were selling tickets. I got great seats for half the price. What a view! When we first walked up to the stadium it was the lights, the activity and the fans were awesome! We stood in line and found out that all items have to be in a clear plastic bag. No problem. I just threw away my food bag. It was easy to get to our seats. You either took the elevator or the escalator. This was a great experience and now I can say that I have actually been to Heinz Field as a true Steelers fan. I enjoyed the experience. read more

I'm a Colts fan...I love them, have been since i was 7 but ultimately, I am a football fan....and this stadium was built for its die-hard fans. I can totally appreciate that. Not only are there a shitload of seats, but MOST of them are not nose bleeds and the ones that are (I'm sure they are FREEZING this time of year) look to still have decent views of the field and screens. My hubby is a big Pittsburgh Steeler fan, as his cousin plays for the team...so we headed out for the Colts vs. Steelers game in early november. I have only been in a couple of NFL stadiums in my lifetime (one of them being my beloved RCA Dome) and I have to say, I was BLOWN away by the arena. It was UNBELIEVABLE. The seats are painted BRIGHT Steelers yellow that blinds you when you walk in. And, if you are there for the opposing team (like I was), you DEFINTIELY stand out, b/c MAN, their fans come out in hordes swarming in every section, ready to bare down on an outsider. It was awesome!! Speaking of fans, despite me boasting blue and our team rockin' it out that day, they were REALLY cool to me. I stood out like a sore thumb, being only one of maybe four Colts fans in my section so I was pretty exposed! The guys sitting next to me gave me a hard time, insisted I swing their Terrible Towel and in general, were a lot of fun. :) I'm sure that not everyone was as nice, but I had great neighbors. My seats were fantastic, in the lower section in the corner of the endzone. I could see all the action!! It was great and I really enjoyed it. It was REALLY cold but all in all, outside of seeing the Colts beat NE in the 2007 AFC Championship, this was by far the best NFL football experience I have ever had! It was FANFREAKINTASTIC!! If you ever have a chance to visit Heinz Field, TAKE advantage. It was easily accessible, in a great location downtown, security was a breeze, fans rocked it out and the stadium is AWESOME!! read more

I'm definitely a fan of Heinz Field simply because it's the home of the Steelers, but not sure I can say, this is as good as it gets. Although there is nothing wrong with this stadium per se, I still miss the good ole Three Rivers Stadium. The bright yellow seats were perhaps a tad uncomfortable. I would consider myself to have an average sized hip, but the sides of the seats fit snuggly against my hips, so my guess is that if you are big-boned or heavy-set, then these seats may not be very comfortable at all. read more

I've been there for NFL, NHL and college football games as well as one concert and (for the most part) I think they generally do a very good job. The one time I was there, they even worked to upgrade everyone's seat for the concert, since the upper section could be totally empty and everyone would still have a seat. I know that saves them work, but it was still very nice. read more

Anything less than 5 stars? Child, please! Where else can you go to see the most successful NFL team and their six Lombardi trophies? Nowhere but here. Yes, I bleed black and gold as part of Steeler Nation. So, pouring rain and cold weather was not going to deter me from seeing the Steelers host their only Monday Night Football game this season. First off, @Tailgate32 was also visiting the 'Burgh as part of its cross-country road trip, so stopping by their RV pre-game was a must. I got to meet some cool people, including the Trupiano brothers, their support team and some other die-hard fans. I also enjoyed their complimentary food and drinks. A huge thank you to all of them for fun time in the rain. Of course, there was the game itself. I felt very fortunate walking into the stadium because: 1. I got a ticket for only $50. 2. My seat was in a great location, under cover in section 509. It didn't turn out to be a blowout game I expected, with the Steelers squeaking out a FG win in OT. Whew. Overall, it was a great time cheering, yelling and waiving my Terrible Towel with the other faithful fans. HERE WE GO STEELERS! read more

I love this stadium. The only better view you might find is from PNC Park and really, they're both fantastic. Not a bad seat in the house, though I have to say sitting in club seats really hits the spot. I'm spoiled at this point. (Scored tickets from Pitt's admissions' department. Thanks!!!) Plenty of places to tailgate and if you're a gambler like me, you can get free parking passes for the Rivers' lot. (Not really free, as I've spent enough to gain those comps.) We got in and to our seats quickly. Wasn't difficult. I know I've been to some stadiums where it just feels like forever to get to your seats. Stadium food was actually really good for what it is. The Steelers fans are THE worst fans I've ever experienced. Don't try to stand up to cheer your team on because you'll get cussed out, called names, maybe even choked like what happened to a woman. Football...America...the Steelers...Game Day...Excitement...then...disappointment. Not because they lost...but because the whole experience was something I'll never want to experience again. So much for wanting to take your family to a game...it was dangerous and definitely not a family event. Drunks...cursing...aggressive behavior...crowds that could care less that a 9 and 11 year old was amongst them. Hey Rooney family...don't promote your team as something a "family" could enjoy. It's bad enough you have to pay prices that a normal person can't afford, but it's the whole experience. Fans that are so drunk they can barely walk through the gates to get to their seats. Aggressive fans that wanted to fight me when I asked them to watch their language around my children. One "fan" was cursing out his girlfriend and when I asked him to watch his language around my children, he essentially told me to "F" off and then threatened to "beat my @ss" which of course scared my 9 year old daughter, 11 year old son, and my wife. BTW...Heinz Field is a "No Smoking" venue...the only problem is, they forgot to tell the fans, the concession workers, and Security. As far as Security...good luck getting them to respond to someone. So there you have it...we'll still be fans of the team, but I'll never put my family at risk again going to a NFL game. Nothing beats a Steelers game at Heinz Field. The atmosphere is incredible, five stars alone for that! Sure, you have your headache of getting and leaving there, but everything in between is just great. As far as parking, there are many lots and garages nearby (I generally park at the Fort Duquesne and Sixth Garage downtown - $8 for the night!) but no matter where you park you'll have to expect a wait as cars full of (usually happy) Steelers fans leave the area. The food is for the most part your typical sports facility fare, tastes better too with overpriced pounders of beer. There are a few Pittsburgh-specific options as far as food and drink. The stadium overlooks the confluence and downtown so you'll have some great views. Just an amazing place, make sure to bring your Terrible Towel (or just buy one there for $10)! read more
