Uniquely intimate little theater downtown that shows lesser known movies. I also saw they would be hosting a magician in the future. Tickets and concessions are reasonably priced (a small popcorn was only $3) and it's also now BYOB! They have your standard movie candies to choose from, as well as fountain drinks, and even some Bubly sparkling waters. Restrooms are down the stairs and on the right. I purchased tickets online before the show and they were conveniently sent to my email. The staff were super nice and welcoming. There is a parking garage almost directly across from the theater. We were able to catch a screening of the movie Memoria here - played on 35mm! What an awesome experience. If you are a cinema art fan, this place shows some unique, lesser known movies that you might not be able to see (or stream) anywhere else. Pittsburgh was one of three cities showing Memoria on actual film. This made the experience even more special. We can't wait to go back!

The Harris Theatre is the home (year after year) the to LGBT Film Festival (29 years strong) in Pittsburgh. #ReelQ

Possibilities are endless from listening to whale or dolphin vocalizations from deepest ocean depths to beautiful waterfalls and nature sounds throughout America's National parks. Nothing's left to the imagination as sounds unpreviously heard within classics become more detailed and rich sounding capturing what standard technology from that time failed to capture. The picture quality here rivals standard theaters' which only offer 2K while this theater offers vibrant & crystal-clear 4K imagery using a Christie® laser-illuminated projector bringing every scene to life. Delivering movie-goers an immersive experience giving people sensations of being within their favorite movie or educational documentaries. Regardless of whether you're experiencing stars backdropping amongst darkness throughout space or enjoying other worlds within movies like Avatar 2 or Gremlins. Forget any lacklusterness of standard movie screen competitors offer. Come enjoy immersiveness on a 71x39 screen providing panoramic views. With comfort in mind. Plush seating with cup holders offered here allows visitors relaxation helping viewers immerse themselves in their movie-going experience without any interruptions or distractions. It's Nothing like AMC seating luxury that offers extras from reclining USB ports or other additional amenities. Still comfortable enough that I would proudly install these in small venue stage theaters & feel content enjoying any event or performance. Concessions menu's simplistic offering basic popcorn drinks & candy. With pricing on par with competitors. There are no onsite dinner options to enjoy with your show. My recommendation would be to attend a matinee & dine at Riverview Cafe or enjoy local restaurants close by Carnegie Center. From Prior visits & wonderful experiences here, I would recommend viewing screening with friends or referring them here to indulge in this unparalleled movie-watching experience Whether they are film enthusiasts or someone desiring to enjoy a good movie & experience a memorable and extraordinary cinema experience. This isn't the ideal forum for this feedback but since I have no other options, I'll leave it here…read more I imagine someone reading this is just going to a movie and most likely not trying to rent the theater but just in case... I run a conference in Pittsburgh every year and part of my programming included a movie night before an evening party. Last year we rented Row House with no issues. This year I reached out to Cara almost 3 months before the date to reserve. 2 weeks and several follow ups later, I was told they were renovating and revamping the rental system and would have info on March 14th (10 days later). On March 14th I reached back out. And on April 1st. And on April 12th (my conference was the 28th). And on the 15th. On April 8th I just drove down to the theater and spoke to Katie who confirmed my date was available and wasn't sure what was happening with Cara. On April 16th Cara finally replied and told me my date had been given to someone else. At that point I had to scramble to come up with new plans for over 50 people attending my conference. Again, you might not be looking to rent Row House. Unfortunately I have no other platform to describe their incompetence. Now over 50 of my friends will never go there again. And I'm sure they don't care...

I was (I thought) fully prepared to overpay for popcorn & bottled water to help support the theatre, but was agast at just how much they were charging. The smallest popcorn & bottle of water would have cost @$15, more than neutralizing the "deal" of $5 Tuesdays! Come-on management... let a deal truly be a deal. Now I understand why there were so many vacant seats. Which leads into my next complaint. The ticket sales clerk showed me a screen of available seats and it appeared that only 3 seats were available. Unfortunately, I pick one next to an ignorant man who talked throughout the movie. (Hope he reads this.) As it turned out, there were lots of empty seats in the theatre. At first I didn't want to move, to allow for late arrivers to get their assigned seats. I ended up staying put so as not to disturb others mid-movie. I don't understand the theatre's motive in providing incorrect seating information, cuz I don't believe that that many no-shows occurred. Even seperating the ignorant customer (not the theatre's fault) from the theatre issues, it did not prove to be a welcoming return to theatre! If you want to remain profitable, make your concession prices more reasonable and your volume will increase (for real - not like the bogus occupancy shown on your monitors).

A reporter once said that the Hollywood was Pittsburgh's only remaining single-screen movie…read moretheater. Well, they were admittedly wrong - there are others - but still, it's not uncommon to feel a sense of awe when you walk into a building like the Hollywood, which is indeed an old single-screen theater. Despite the modern day updates, there's just enough classical film memorabilia scattered about the place to make the place feel a bit like a large time capsule that was just dropped into Dormont one day. And the fact that the theater primarily runs classic films - with the occasional indie and the annual "Rocky Horror Picture Show" screening thrown in - really contributes to the place's old-time vibe. The theater itself is impressively large for being single screen, and is very well maintained and kept as clean and neat as possible (sometimes it gets a little messier in the building during bigger events at the theater, such as brunches, which is understandable). The staff are all kind and passionate about what they do there, and the seats are far more cozy than what I've experienced at most modern day theaters! I've only been here twice, but each time was a really special experience. The first time I came here was to see "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest." Never before have I experienced such an overall stunned and silent audience; I really believe the experience was a result of the combination of the film's subject matter and the atmosphere a theater like this makes. The second time I was here was for the recently hosted special feature of "The Last Unicorn" - following the screening of this childhood favorite, fans had the chance to buy merchandise related to the film and to meet Peter S. Beagle, the script writer and author of the original novel. It was a treat, to say the least; the chance to meet one of my favorite authors (and a fellow Pitt alum) at such a wonderful local attraction should speak volumes about the magic that can take place at this special old place. All in all the Hollywood is a unique place in Pittsburgh that could never replicated elsewhere. Someone could try, but it just wouldn't be the same, especially since they really do go out of their way to connect with the locals and make their screenings special. I highly recommend following the Hollywood's updates online so you don't miss an excellent screening, brunch, party or anything like that. This is one theater that's worth your time and attention, and that deserves every bit of support it can get!
