Fantastic community theater with very high quality productions and an even better child education program.

This little theater has been one of my favorite places to see a concert. I've been here 4-5 times…read moreby now and I have to give it my highest recommendation. It's an intimate setting where you can get great seats without a sky high ticket price. There's a snack bar with booze you can take into the theater in a sippy cup. And some really good old theater style popcorn. That room is adjacent to the original theater and is actually an old diner. There's also a courtyard you can sit in if you arrive extra early and the weather is nice. The folks who volunteer here are super nice and helpful. The line up of acts is mostly tribute bands, but I must say they are of the highest quality of musicians. I just saw the real thing, an incarnation of Emerson, Lake and Palmer which was the original drummer and founding member , Carl Palmer, with two very talented guitarist who accompanied him on the classic ELP songs. A video background with the original ELP played behind them. Not only were the two young musicians fantastic but at 76, Carl Palmer did a 10 minute drum solo that was mind blowing! At my last visit there was a disruptive woman shouting in the back of the theater. So much so she was interrupting the performers. Security came and took her out much to the applause of the audience! The other nice thing is easy access. No driving to Pittsburgh and paying ridiculous parking rates. And there are plenty of good restaurants around the area to dine in ahead of the show. You should try it out when you see one of their ads and there's a band you like playing there. My only negative is that they don't support adding the tickets to a virtual wallet. You have to print out the ticket or go to the box office to get them. Maybe soon they will be able to update that.

When you enter the theater, there is a box office to the left, a concession area to the right and in the middle is the entrance to the theater. The theater hosts a variety of events like concerts and musicals. The seating are is large and the seats are spacious and comfortable. It is the type of theater where you really can see from anywhere so there isn't a bad seat. The staff is all extremely friendly and helpful and the tickets are affordable. The slight downside is that there aren't many stalls in the bathroom, so you will likely end up waiting in line if you need to go at intermission, but that is the case at almost every theater. I highly recommend catching a show here!

The building is the former home of The Tree of Life Synagogue that was converted to have stages and meeting rooms. The only thing missing is parking, as it typical Pittsburgh this address relies mainly on street side parking with only a dozen or so off street options. They are supported by patrons, subscribers and individuals in the community and with lots of passionate volunteers so like many other community theaters they don't have big budgets but they elaborate productions but thanks to the efforts of many they put together some very entertaining shows. A fun theater with really good seats from all around. I like the smell of fresh hot popcorn when you walk through the front doors. There's good restrooms on the second floor with a water fountain as well as a number of large round tables with chairs for functions, gatherings or parties. There's a small office and am area with a piano and comfy couches & chairs for lounging or waiting and enough extra room for lots of potential other uses. Downstairs there's several seating areas for waiting and even another piano and you can bottled waters and other soft drink choices at the concession. There's no hot food but mostly nuts, candy bars and of course there's fresh popped theater popcorn. (there's a large coveted porch out from with ledges for sitting & smokers congregated here during intermission) We seamlessly purchased our tickets online and the box office found us on the list right away. She showed us a chart of where are seats are and gave us good information about the theater and how to find everything. (I hear that she will be in November's upcoming production of "and the winner is") My daughter is Lucy and is performing "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown" My sweetheart and I have traveled from New Orleans on the train for this big event . We sat in the second row on the isle for two nights and in the front row for the Sunday and final performance, but every seat has an nice unobstructed view. You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown was a delightful production of the Broadway musical with a very talented cast of five. The music was performed by several very good musicians on piano, drums, bass and woodwinds that perfectly supported the musical numbers and accented much if the play throughout. There was lots of laughs and claps throughout and even awes when the lights come up with Lucy sitting behind her iconic psychiatrist's booth and starry eyed youngsters when Snoopy appears on his so with camel. I was very impressed with the level of talent, production and dedication by all that pulled together an excellent presentation of this classic work. I have watched the original and later animated versions that were inspired by the play and I have also viewed scenes from the hit Broadway musical and I think the show that I just saw live (3) consecutive days was my favorite. I might be a little biased but I sincerely & absolutely adored this production at Mckeesport Little Theater and I have seen all the hard work & dedication that goes into a production like this from some very dedicated and hard working folks and I highly recommend supporting them!

Bravo to the little theater that could as they celebrate their 56th season!…read more The road to number 56 has not always been a smooth one, but thanks to dedicated leadership, relentless volunteers, and talented performers, McKeesport Little Theater lives on. Their small beginnings in 1960 led them to purchasing a church in 1963 which was then transformed into a viable playhouse setting. After 10 seasons, a fire totally destroyed the theater mid-productions. Performances continued at various community locations up until 1974, when a former synagogue was purchased by the group. Major levels of fundraising transformed this synagogue into the intimate neighborhood theater it is today. I have seen several performances here, and always look forward to each seasons productions. McKeesport Little Theater offers live entertainment for both young and old.
