Came for a movie showing in auditorium 2 on a Saturday evening. I purchased our tickets online in advance and only had to show them to the employee at the counter on arrival. The theatre is smaller and has some historic charm. The lobby is clean, bright, and kind of narrow. They have a few movie posters lining the walls and a fabric curtain separating the public area from the bar and auditoriums. The bar is located next to the concession stand and had several cocktails available along with a decent selection of liquors at a fair price. The concession stand was as expected with a little more of an inflated price point; a bottle of water cost me $4.50. The auditorium we were in was small and clean and only a little bit outdated. The chairs were cushioned, but some were ripping. The bathrooms were small and old, but clean. Any staff that I interacted with were very friendly and welcoming. I think The Manor is an excellent theater that balances mitigating the ballooning costs of movie theaters with availability of showings popular and/or artsy movies. If there's a very niche film, I'm more likely to cinephile out at Row House Cinema in Lawrenceville, or if there's a very big event movie à la Dune, I'm likely to see it on a massive screen at AMC. But I like to avoid chains, so I come here when I can. The staff is generally very friendly! I have seen to my count 13 movies here (and that's only the one's I've recorded since starting keeping track of what movies I watch), and I've had good experiences at most of them. If I might offer SOME criticism, I can be a little displeased at the audio management between their theaters. There is sometimes what I consider an egregious amount of audio bleed between the walls, but it depends on how quiet/somber the movie you're watching is and how loud/intense the movie next to you is; the example I have in my mind is my recent experience watching Zach Cregger's Weapons and listening to the (admittedly excellent) score of Spike Lee's Highest 2 Lowest bleeding through (I think I was in Theater 3 and H2L was playing in Theater 2? I find usually I only have that problem when I'm in Theater 3, but I might be tripping). And that sucks because Weapons is a really quiet, tense film! It's really not a dealbreaker for me, and I have no plans to stop going to The Manor anytime remotely soon, but I more so just want to hope anybody on-staff is reading this and can recommend some sound insulation as an investment to the higher-ups pwetty pwease read more

The Manor Theatre is such a gem, located in the heart of a wonderful, diverse neighborhood. There's a charming cafe with typical theatre food and snacks: candy, pretzels, popcorn, hot dogs. It's pricey, but that's pretty typical for any theatre. They also serve chicken tenders but we didn't try them. There's also a little bar if you'd prefer wine, beer or a cocktail. The Manor Theatre is one of my favorite establishments in Pittsburgh. What used to be a massive, single theatre for variety shows and plays has been made into four smaller, modern movie theaters. The Manor is clean and charming, but still maintains it's old-school charm. By that virtue, the Manor is a very "Pittsburgh" establishment. Like the city, the Manor took something old, and made it new and desirable. At an independent theater like this, the prices beat most large mega-AMC monstrosities. Everything at the Manor is at a smaller scale, with low lights, a full bar, and even some snackbar style hot food if you're interested. The Manor plays mainstream Hollywood films, but also has it's own, fun sessions like classic 80s horror films in October. I love the Manor. I have very fond memories there; seeing great films for the first, second, and fifteenth time. For an intimate screening experience, hit the Manor. read more

My family greatly enjoys movies at the Manor. Reasonable prices and it's great to support an independent local movie theater. They do a good job getting both blockbuster and art films. On the other hand.. we had a really bad experience going to see the Avatar sequel with my two kids (ages 11 and 13). Both trailers before the movie were extremely creepy horror movies. Yeah, no. Shouldn't the trailers match up a bit with the movie? Since when do rated-R horror movies get trailers before a PG-13 blockbuster? It doesn't convince me to go watch the horror movie .. instead, we considered getting up and asking for refunds. read more

An amazing local theater! There are 4 theaters within the Manor and they seat quite a lot of people. It's a local favorite, so it can get pretty crowded, especially for popular films. You can order tickets online ahead of time, but you cannot reserve seats. The lounge area outside of the theaters is awesome- beautiful decor and dim lighting- it's very cozy. They have a little bar with fun cocktails, beer, and wine. The concession stand has something for everyone- coffee, tea, sparkling water, pop, lots of fried foods, healthier snacks, popcorn and candy. Parking can be tricky, so just arrive early. read more

TLDR; smells of raw sewage, seats are ripped, buzzing noise. We went to a weekday matinee show. As soon as you walked into the theater it smelled like a horrible port a potty. We really believed that someone relieved themself in the aisle or something. The face on each person entering the theater said it all. An attendant went to the front of the theater and sprayed some deodorant into the air and left. I went out to ask the attendant what was going on. She seemed exasperated and said that there was nothing she could do and that after it rains water "gets in" and that she already mopped and sprayed deodorizer. FYI, That's not the smell of rainwater, that's raw sewage backup. People had to smell the human waste for a whole movie. The attendant offered a refund but we already had a babysitter and had made the trip. This was clearly a known problem and the management should have cancelled all showings in affected theaters or used a different theater. All that aside, the overall vibe of the theater is that of a cool older neighborhood place. The seats were all ripped and the overhead lights that were still slightly lit during the film had a constant loud buzz. read more

Went to see Across the Spider Verse. There was a group of teenagers in the front of the theatre shouting, talking, flashing their phones, and moving around the theatre from start to finish. An employee came in 3 times and never kicked them out. It got so bad that another group left early. I'll never return and I'll be sure to tell my friends not to either. read more

I absolutely love this small theater. While the Manor will play main stream movies like avengers it mostly place lesser known or independent movies. There are only four screens. The long is decorated with warm colors and feels very cozy. There's a small but charming bar with movie themed drinks. Also the concession stand is reasonably priced. The seats are some sort of leather or vinyl which I really appreciate because cloth seats can gross me out because they are absorbent. These seas were also very comfortable! They lend back but they weren't squeaky. The screen and sound quality of the movie were great. I also love how because it is a small theater there are only 1-3 trailers played before each movie. The Manor definitely has a more intimate feel. All staff I have interacted with have been friendly and helpful. Would recommend this theater to everyone! read more

Used to be my favorite theatre in the Pittsburgh area due to their willingness to program films that other theaters and multiplexes would opt out on. Recently, it seems that the management is opting to play films such as "The Fall Guy" for weeks instead of other lower budget films such as I Saw The TV Glow and La Chimera. I hope the management has a change of heart and goes back to the more indie programming I used to love (saw Tar, C'mon C'mon, and Red Rocket here when my local theatre wouldn't play these films). The theatre itself is very nice and comfy, but no reason to go here to see "The Fall Guy" here when it's playing at every AMC and Cinemark which both house better technical abilities for screenings. Hopefully this review can enact some change to what was once my favorite theatre in Pittsburgh. I guess I will just have to hope Row House and the Harris Theatre will program the indie and non-Hollywood offerings I desire. read more

I love the Manor Theatre. I've been going there since before it became a multiplex. I do have one word-to-the-wise though: BEWARE OF BEING RIPPED OFF BY THE OLD GUY AT THE CONCESSION STAND. I went there recently for the 1st show of the day. I'm a senior so I was eligible for the senior rate or the matinee, whichever was cheapest. No one was at the ticket booth so I was directed by a sign to buy my ticket at the concession stand. An old guy was there, probably in his 60s. I asked for a small pepsi & a small popcorn. He told me it was $20. I gave him a 20, he gave me the pepsi & the popcorn but no ticket. I asked for the ticket - he acted disgusted like I was really putting him out, I was the only customer. He ripped off the receipt & then ripped the ticket off of that & didn't give me the receipt. I was in a hurry because the movie was about to start. Afterward, I realized he didn't give me the receipt because he had overcharged me at least $4 & seeing the receipt would've revealed that. read more

I love the Manor with my entire heart. I appreciate how it stays true to its independent theater self and doesn't try to be like the big movie theater chains. Tbh, Manor Theater does not need to try because it is just that great. The staff is really friendly, and you can tell that how much they love it and enjoy working there. I also appreciate the affordable prices and comfy seats, and I've never ordered a drink at the bar, but I like that there's the option. I usually go during the matinees so that means in the theater, it's me and a group of older adults; little do they know, they're my crew. The busiest I've ever seen the Manor was during A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood because Mr. Rogers and Pittsburgh, so of course. The man checking tickets was dressed up as Mr. Rogers, and it was wonderful. I've heard they dress up for other films too. Manor Theater really is my favorite Pittsburgh place. I missed them a lot while I was away for a couple of months and really hope they survive COVID-19 because this place is such a charming gem and Squirrel Hill and the rest of the 412 would be devastated if it was gone. read more

I am always want to want to support my local theater, but it makes it hard to be enthusiastic about going to the Manor when the staff is so rude. I've had multiple bad interactions with one employee in particular, both over the phone and in person. He is extremely condescending to customers who mean well, and certainly taints the experience of going to the movies. The movie theater is fairly priced, but the seats are dilapidated and there have been a couple instances in which there was soda residue on my seat. I will still continue to support indie movie theaters, but I would expect more from the Manor in training better staff. read more

I admittedly don't catch very many movies at Manor Theatre, but I'm never disappointed when I do. They're a smaller theater, with a grand total of four screens, which pales in comparison to most of Pittsburgh's other movie theaters. But I would gladly come here than visit a bigger multiplex any time it's possible. The Manor is extremely well maintained and laid out, taking advantage of its intimate nature rather than fighting it. The seats in the theaters are incredibly comfortable, and while they're not the normal stadium seating I've never had a problem with the set-up at all; as long as you come expecting a more intimate screening space, you'll be fine. Plus, the legroom here is actually better than what you'll find in a lot of other theaters, which is big plus for me as I have a hard time sitting still for long; the legroom gives me the ability to shift with a lower risk of kicking the poor people in seats in front of me. I admittedly don't typically buy drinks and popcorn here, but that's because I usually eat dinner before stopping by; there's plenty of local dining to take advantage of nearby. But popcorn and drinks are of course available, for a not-too-terrible price at all. Although, while we're on the subject of concessions: YAY movie theater bar! Yep, there's a little bar in the Manor. Isn't it nice to know you can get a spot of wine or a cocktail after a hard day? Or just because you feel like it? But the cherry on top of all these fantastic aspects of the Manor are its staff. Whenever I have questions about current or upcoming screenings, the staff are always incredibly helpful; if I need to find something out, they always get the answers I need, ensuring that if a limited release movie is coming their way, I can coordinate a memorable outing with my friends and family. You can't find THAT kind of service at the big chain theaters, let me tell you! I honestly can't find fault with this beautiful theater. The Manor may be a fair drive from the South Hills area - but they're also 100% worth it for me. I definitely recommend coming here when you can. The experience is great, the concession prices aren't quite as outrageous as what bigger theaters charge, and of course, yay local! Great small independent theater in the heart of squirrel Hill, which is both a blessing and a curse. The blessing is that there's tons of other things to do before or after your show or even just go for a walk down Murray and look at all the different shops. The curse is parking, and it's a big one. On a Saturday evening we had to park several blocks away and far down a side street and that was after circling a few different blocks. If you go to a late show (after 9pm) it is probably less of an issue,as there were several open spots by the time we left. The theater itself is great. Probably wouldn't see big blockbuster action movies here due to the smaller size of screens, it's great for any other movie. Staff is friendly and prices on everything are extremely reasonable. Concessions are way cheaper than at your typical big chain theater. They also have a full bar and you can bring those drinks into the theater too. Again, reasonable prices there. Will definitely return but maybe target a less busy time of day. Good option for a date night. read more

Manor is a classic neighborhood movie theater, with some historic flair and upscale features. As a neighborhood resident, I love being able to walk here and it is so convenient to go to later showings and not have to drive home after. The theaters have been renovated, but they still have a really elaborate crystal chandelier and original details in the lobby. The theaters are small, so it is a more intimate experience. The seats are really comfy and newer. Food options are a little limited, but pretty typical for a movie theater. They also have a small bar. There is no food/bar service in the actual movie theaters, just in the lobby. read more

For as long as I've been here, I haven't yet made it out to the Manor until today. I always heard good things, but could never imagine a movie theater that small being anything special. I was wrong, fortunately. It's the smallness that makes it feel more special. We came to see It: Chapter 2, which is one of the few times the Manor shows a big hollywood film apparently. It's mostly Indie movies. The inside lobby area is small, but has a nice sitting area near the snack bar to relax before the show. They also have a bar area where you can bring your drinks into the theater as well- that was neat! Not sure if it was just because of the opening weekend effect, but they ran the movies 10-15minutes apart... this meant that we had accidentally walked in on the very end of the filming before us, as we had expected to take our seats a little early and just relax during previews. Sorry to the people that heard me talking about my cat, instead of the movie. The theater itself was small-no stage seating, but it really didn't even need it. The chairs were super comfortable and despite being opening weekend, we ended up not having to really sit near anyone. I was pleasantly surprised with the experience and can't wait for my next movie here! read more

Great old theater that's been renovated. I'm new to the area so can't fully appreciate the renovation over what its condition had been in the past, but it is nice with leather chairs and cup holders. I must say the theater size was quite a bit smaller than I'm used to -- a center aisle and maybe 6 seats across on each side of the aisle. Nonetheless, the movie experience was fine -- my seat was comfortable and no one's head was in my way. I could hear just a bit of sound from the adjoining theater, but not bad. I like that they show not only mainstream selections but independent and foreign films, as well. That will definitely be a draw to bring me here. Parking is on the street but I didn't find that a problem on a Friday evening. I parked around the corner on Forbes about 5:20pm and had dinner first then walked the short distance to the theater. (Note there are several dining options before or after your movie experience.) Pricing is in line with other theaters -- 9.25 for one adult at a 6:10 showing on a Friday night. Small popcorn with a medium soft drink was 7.25. And their press is making a big deal out of the fact that part of the renovation was adding a full bar selection and that you can take those alcoholic drinks into the theater. Maybe that will make some movies seem better than they would otherwise. LOL read more

Love the Manor Theatre. It's quickly becoming our 1st choice. We have to drive a little to get there but it's such a nice, comfortable theater. And they show not only first-run but also art house movies and documentaries too. NOTE about parking - there is street parking all around especially on the side streets like Darlington. Don't expect to park on Murray Avenue. We've never been to the Manor Theatre and not been able to find on-street parking. But if you're running late or don't want to bother with on street parking there is a very good garage/lot at the corner of Forbes & Murray, next to the Carnegie Library. You have to pay but it's convenient and close to the theater. read more

Public Service Announcement: October is "Vintage horror films" month! SETTING: Wow, I just have to say that Manor Theatre is an absolute gem. This place is extremely well kept and clean. Manor underwent a fantastic renovation job and still retains a hint of vintage with the decor, which I appreciate. A home theater feel...that is, if I lived in a mansion. SERVICE: All the employees were efficient and polite. For the midnight showing of Rosemary's Baby" (part of the October horror films segment), a few employees went out of their way to add to our experience. They dimmed the lights and re-enacted a small part of the film we were about to watch. Then they asked us some trivia questions about the film--those in the audience who answered correctly got little prizes. Definitely a nice touch! IMPRESSIONS: Can't beat it. A smaller theatre with all the works AND affordable prices (tickets and snacks/bar). Sure, it doesn't show all the newest movies and handle large crowds, but that's not why I come here. I come here for some of the indie films and "specials". For example, every Saturday midnight in October they are showing a vintage horror flick. Growing up in an immigrant family, I never really watched the classics, so thank you Manor for helping me out with American culture! Coming again next week to watch "The Shining"! read more

I love this adorable and charming little theatre! I went to an almost 10PM movie on a weeknight so parking was super easy. I do see in other reviews people are talking about how tricky parking can be on other days and times and I could definitely see that, bt when I went, it was effortless. I love that the bathroom is right at the front when you enter, and the adorable and charming little mini seating area in front of the concessions, which are very well priced by the way. A small popcorn which I got was $3.75. The theatre itself was very clean and the seats were comfortable. The staff was super friendly too! I will definitely be back! read more

My favorite movie theater ever! Walking distance from our house in squirrel this theater is quaint and plays some of the best artistic and independent films (as well as some select block busters). Has about 6 screens and reasonable amount of playing times. Our favorite new addition is the bar where my husband always gets a "woody allen's Manhattan" before any movie. They have a few beers and other great cocktail selections with cute movie names. Theater is new and renovated with a good view from almost any seat (about 6-7 seats per row so you don't have to stumble over a crowd to get to the aisle. Prices are very reasonable- they have great matinee pricing (6 ish dollars) and discounts for students and seniors. Feels really like a local gem with a great curated taste of films , one of the things were are going to miss most when we move. read more
