This place is great and I love that they give student discounts. The place has nice charm and the bar tender person was so nice. The drinks were pretty good and not that expensive and the popcorn was good too. Great place to go and in a great location too.

The Manor Theatre was a fantastic experience. The staff is very nice, attentive and helpful. I had the pleasure of attending during National Cinema Day. I saw Nope and Emily the Criminal which were both worth it. The prices are excellent and the atmosphere is the essence of what a movie theater should be.

The Manor Theatre is one of my favorite establishments in Pittsburgh. What used to be a massive, single theatre for variety shows and plays has been made into four smaller, modern movie theaters. The Manor is clean and charming, but still maintains it's old-school charm. By that virtue, the Manor is a very "Pittsburgh" establishment. Like the city, the Manor took something old, and made it new and desirable. At an independent theater like this, the prices beat most large mega-AMC monstrosities. Everything at the Manor is at a smaller scale, with low lights, a full bar, and even some snackbar style hot food if you're interested. The Manor plays mainstream Hollywood films, but also has it's own, fun sessions like classic 80s horror films in October. I love the Manor. I have very fond memories there; seeing great films for the first, second, and fifteenth time. For an intimate screening experience, hit the Manor.

The seats were a bit destroyed and the staff wasn't the friendliest, but the prices were good.

This is an iconic Pittsburgh institution and what it lacks in size relative to other botanical gardens in the world, it makes up for it in beauty. Take the greenhouses, the structures are hundreds of years old and are beautifully and painstakingly restored. The current Panama exhibit is fantastic showcasing tropical flora and fauna. This is also a great place to bring kids. The butterfly exhibit is on hold for renovations, but when it's back on your have to bring your kiddos here to see it. Also, their annual train display is always a showstopper. So many noteworthy things to say but that's all for now.

It was beautiful inside and even the exterior was photo-worthy. There are multiple rooms to visit (including an outdoor area) and I would have to say that the orchid room was my favorite. I wish there was a little more merchandise to choose from in the gift shop, but I found a little magnet to commemorate my visit. Thanks, Phipps!

The door is next to Creative Reuse's on N Lexington Avenue. On the second Saturday of every month, the Pillow Project invites people to come and enjoy a lounge atmosphere of dance, live jazz music, and performances involving mixed-media. Alongside that, the space is used for many other events as well, each group giving it its own special charm. I've seen classes, clothing drives, photoshoots, and many other types of events use the loft. The space itself is gorgeous, with the modern coolness you'd expect from a loft belonging to a performance art troupe, combined with the history of Pittsburgh - since it is attached to Construction Junction, you can be sure that just about everything up here has been repurposed. The large windows let tons of natural light in, and the hardwood floors are gorgeous. Scattered over the space there are a few extremely unique pieces of art including a busted up mattress hanging on the wall and a laptop with a tree growing out of it. There is a large bar off to one side infront of two small openings that look down over Construction Junction. Old couches and tables are scattered throughout the space for seating and a small raised platform, infront of the multimedia control center, is also sometimes used for seating. The only problem with the space is that it is somewhat of a weather permitting space - You really feel it in here when it's hot or cold outside. There are huge heaters on the ceiling for the winter but they're very uneven, so beneath them it's burning, and not too far away it's cold again. But that's what you get when you're in such an old building, it's a really minor complaint. There is also a small waiting area downstairs right inside the door. So if you're looking to catch a cool performance, come on the second Saturday of any month and check it out. If you're looking for a neat event space, be sure to ask the Pillow Project for details. And now I can finally check in to the right place

It is one large, very dark room, partitioned off into different sections, featuring a great deal of stark black-and-white imagery and specimens in jars (not a few taxidermically preserved animal corpses among them). Much of the content is not for the faint of heart - some of the practices addressed here come across as quite cruel, and some of the exhibits can feel bizarre. None of this is a negative. You will probably learn something you didn't know (and possibly didn't want to) should you drop by this museum. A thought-provoking, sometimes frightening experience that will give you a few moments to reflect and take in what you are seeing. 10 dollar donation expected at the reception desk upon entry with the lobby doubling as a gift shop.

A pleasant fellow let me look about and we chatted about this and that. The collection here is rather eclectic and spread among many themes - and there's a lot of Pgh sports stuff. She had great ideas that we never would've come up with if we'd tried to design it ourselves. It took four or five days, and the price was very reasonable. When we picked up the framed piece, they had created a pocket in the back and tucked in some information about the magazine (Harper's) explaining its cultural and historical significance. It was very thoughtful and we really appreciated it. While we were in the gallery for framing, we loved looking around at the paintings. They are striking, lovely, and accessibly priced. We visited during the pandemic (December 2020) and were grateful and at ease because of the common-sense precautions they took. Brenda wore a mask the entire time, without mentioning it. She took care to stand back from us as we looked at the framing materials. She propped open the door for air flow.
