They only accept ressies for tables of 6 otlr more, otherwise ots first come basis which means sometimes there is a wait. They are byob and offer take out. Daily incredible specials. Had not been here in many years. Delighted to see them open for lunch. Server was exceptionally kind and friendly and moved us in and out quickly as we were pressed for time. The best neapolitan pizza I've had anywhere in the world. That oven was imported from Italy and the first-gen Italian owner really knows what they are doing. It is so difficult to get the char right and this place does it like magic. We enjoyed apps of the berry salad and the stuffed mushrooms were a standout. The carnivore had the lasagna and thought it was a bit lacking in vibrancy. We're spoiled with so many first-gen Italian pasta places near where we live in the Bronx that we're picky! I'm rating based solely on the pizza itself. Right now it's a four-star, but really, it's either a three-star or a five-star, and that will be decided when I find out whether they can make the crust right. The pie I got was soft and floppy, almost to excess. But the flavor and the freshness of the topping were outstanding. Damn shame. With the right crust this could be a perfect pizza (I ordered the Capriccio), but as it is, it's just average and overpriced. While out on a trip west of here, I looked up Neapolitan Pizza on our route back on my trusty Yelp app and found Acqua e Farina. Not surprisingly, I already had this pizzeria saved to my bookmarks, but had not yet had the opportunity to visit. Acqua E Farina is a family owned family owned and operated brick oven pizzeria and when you visit their web page the Italian jumps out right away . . . Mang' e stat zitt' . . . I Luv it!! The pizza oven is imported directly from Naples. We started our lunch with the Eggplant Parmigiana, thinly sliced eggplant layered & baked with mozzarella & marinara sauce. It was delizioso!!!! I highly recommend this when you visit or order takeout. I was some of the best eggplant parm I have ever eaten and I lived in Naples Italy for almost 6 years. Can't wait to go back and get more :) We tried 3 pizzas, the Bufalina pizza, a white pizza topped buffalo mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, fresh arugula, prosciutto & shaved parmigiano; a Margherita Pizza with fresh tomato sauce, buffalo mozzarella drizzled with a touch of olive oil & fresh basil and one of their pizza specials, the FICA. All were fantastico and hit the spot. The service was excellent, friendly and efficient. The pizzeria has a small parking lot on prem with overflow parking available across the street at Napa Auto parts after 6pm. Every time we come here it truly blows my mind. The food and quality of the food is amazing. For the pasta, there was a generous amount of seafood and the ratio of everything is amazing. The limoncello cake is a must try. I've also tried the carbonara pasta before and that has been my favorite pasta and the buffalina pizza is always our go to. Between yelp reviews and a friends recommendation we decided to take my mother to Acqua e Farina for a birthday lunch. We showed up early and were the first ones in. Parking was easily found in their lot behind the building. The inside was very welcoming and homey. You can sit at the bar area to watch the wood fired oven bring all ingredients together while you eat or sit at one of a dozen or so large tables. Our server was extremely nice and helpful. He even moved some shades to block the sun that was in our eyes. The menu had a lot of great choices for everyone. We ordered several items to share and spaghetti for my son. Al Forno Calzone - Baked. Salame, fresh ricotta, mozzarella, topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella & basil ..... Brick-Oven Sandwich Prosciutto - Prosciutto, smoked mozzarella, arugula, grape tomatoes & shaved parmigiano ..... Romana Salad - traditional caesar salad .... and a Margherita Pizza - Fresh tomato sauce, buffalo mozzarella with olive oil & basil. Everything was fresh and delicious. The salad greens were picture perfect, the sandwich had a nice balance of flavors and a generous amount of prosciutto, the Calzone and Pizza had fresh toppings and the sauce was tasty. For dessert we ordered Nutella munchkins. The serving size was for way more than the five of us! They were fresh, warm, soft sugared donut holes with Nutella added on top. The menu offerings, ambiance and staff at Acqua e Farina were just right for a family to enjoy a delicious lunch and most importantly enjoy time together. The prices were fair and we had plenty of leftovers. The son-in-law Sal was manning the oven and spent some time talking Italian with us on our way out. I stopped in for lunch the other day with my kids. I left fully impressed with this very unique and relatively new pizza place. The atmosphere is very pleasant with a moderate noise level and upscale look. The centerpiece of the place is the gargantuan cherry red brick oven which is an impressive sight. Service was quick and pleasant and our food was served in short order. We started with the mixed cold cut, cheese and foccacia appetizer which was fantastic and a great way to get our appetites going. Then we moved on to their pizza which was (and I can't believe this is the word that came to mind) exquisite. We got the Sicilian, which comes with buffalo mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce and eggplant and we added some prosciutto for good measure. All at once, the dough is light, fluffy, dark and crispy. Combined with the delicious cheese and toppings, you've got one hell of a meal. We absolutely loved it. Five big stars for Acqua e Farina. Be prepared to wait. We waited over an hour at our table for pizza - at a pizza restaurant. They have no control over their business model. Two guys making pizza and countless grubhub orders are served before the patrons. They won't take reservations for parties less than six when clearly they have to. Food is good but not worth the aggravation. Service is great but I feel bad for the servers who can't turn tables because the kitchen has no idea what it's doing. read more

It's frustrating to get in a car and drive to a restaurant and then be turned away because they don't have space. This place looks small front the outside, but is able to seat more people than you think! For 2 people on a Saturday night without a reservation, we waited no more than 10 minutes for a counter seat. Perfect view of the large pizza oven. The food was delicious and fresh! Highly recommend any pizza - Margarita was so good- and the chicken francaise. Run...don't walk...run to Acqua e Farina for some truly excellent pizza. We went to Acqua e Farina on the recommendation of a friend. The decor is warm, comfortable, and inviting. The room is arranged around a large wood fired oven that dominates the room. We sat at the dining bar that is next to the pizza prep and cooking area. The staff was courteous, accommodating, and efficient. The menu features a range of salads and standard Italian first courses. It also has a number of entrees and pasta dishes, but we'll have to review them in the future. We came for the pizza! We had a Margherita (tomato sauce, mozzarella, and basil) and a Contadina (roasted peppers, kalamata olives, eggplant mushrooms, and basil) along with a ceaser salad. The pizza has a thin, crispy bottom crust and a thick chewy/crispy border. The tomato sauce is rich, tomatoey, and flavorful with perfect saltiness. Both pizzas were--HTG--the best pizza I've ever eaten. There's another pizzeria in the area that's been called by one prominent food critic "the best in Pennsylvania." We've eaten there...and it's good pizza, but this is even better. We asked the pizza chef, a charming young guy named Giovanni a few questions. He took a few minutes to talk (with obvious and immense pride) about the business, his family, and its three generations in the restaurant business in the area. He's been working in the restaurant since his teens and it's clear he's got the art of pizza making mastered, despite his youth. This family business is in good hands with a person of his skill and devotion to his craft involved. We asked for a special creation. Would Giovanni make a sandwich for us from the stuffed meatballs listed on the appetizer menu? "Absolutely, I'd love to do that," he said. He set about baking a piece of flat bread in the oven for it and then created a meatball sandwich with a small amount of sauce, some mozzarella, and fresh arugula. It was superb. For dessert we had fresh-filled cannoli and split a piece of limoncello cake--a delicious, light, and citrusy confection made in house by Giovanni's mother. Superb food; well prepared; artfully presentation; very reasonable prices--all in a lovely setting. The only other thing you could ask for would be eating on the Isle of Capri overlooking the Gulf of Naples. Failing that we'll be seeing a lot of Acqua e Farina in Newtown in the future. read more

Seven Things to know about the Feast of the Seven Fishes Christmas Eve Dinner here: Uno: Acqua e Farina (Water and Flour), owned by the same owners as Vecchia Osteria, is usually a pizza place, but for Christmas Eve, they transformed into a seafood lover's dream, and like, the number 7, we were lucky to be able to attend! Due: The menu was small (7 dishes, and actually 10 fishes!) but everything was delicious (yep, we ordered the whole menu for 4 people, and had a LOT of leftovers). Gluttony is clearly my family's favorite of the 7 deadly sins. Tre: The menu included a calamari and fried smelts appetizer and two gigantic salads (arugula, shrimp, and octopus, and a salted cod and cauliflower salad), lobster ravioli (so good it was the only dish we didn't have leftovers of), a heaping portion of linguine de mare (clams, mussels, calamari, shrimp in spicy red sauce), lastly, a branzino with sauteed spinach and Chilean sea bass with tomatoes and toasted bread to dip (both incredible). For dessert they were out of cannoli but we had a delicious (and surprisingly light) limoncello vanilla cake (tiramisu and a chocolate cake were also available). We were so full, but basically in 7th Heaven. Quattro: The service was amazing- they coursed out the dishes for us since we were eating family style (definitely recommend doing so), and our waitress told us all about her family's Italian roots and traditions. We started with a complimentary roasted veggie appetizer, and finished with housemade chocolatecello on the house! Cinque: It wasn't too crowded but they could accommodate parties as large as probably 7 at one table, maybe more. The restaurant can probably seat about 50 max. We called ahead to make a reservation. Sei: The ambiance was lacking a little bit (bright lights and a pizza place with a big oven...) but we still had such a good time! Sette: Don't forget to BYOB! If you're looking to change up your Christmas Eve traditions (we're not actually Italian) or just trying to avoid cooking for your family on Christmas Eve, I highly recommend it! So I've eaten in the "original" pizzeria in Naples, the one that claims they invented pizza basically. Acqua e Farina pizza is just as good if not better! They've imported the bricks to make their brick oven, they've imported the flour, they've installed a system that changes pH of their water. Their commitment is uncanny, their dough is perfection.They are serious about authenticity and it shows through the pizza flavor.
