Eat in/take our restaurant. The establishment isn't huge inside, so the tables are closer together. Sitting in a booth gives you more space though. It's a pretty busy place, we dined in. The wait was only about 5 minutes; the turnover time is great. I loved the pizza. Thin crust is my favorite. I can't wait to try the other delicious looking Italian dishes. I never expected to wait half an hour for a table at a pizza restaurant on a Wednesday at 6pm but at Meglio it was worth the wait. It's a great local place in Newtown with a family friendly feel. The food is good and the menu has more than just pizza and sandwiches. It's a full Italian restaurant with great service where the management really appreciates its customer's and shows it. I rarely see that anymore. I can't wait to return on my next visit to Newtown. read more

I'm going to be honest. Meglio's was never my favorite pizza parlor in Newtown. Their service is good, the atmosphere and outdoor dining options are nice, but I never was too keen on their pizza or menu... That is until last night (take out). I had the plain pizza which was excellent. I also tried Suzy's Sub. The chicken cutlet was enormous and delicious. The toppings (roasted red peppers and broccoli rabe and sharp provolone) added flavor and richness to the sandwich accented with sharp provolone. This was not my first and definitely won't be my last visit to Meglio. Absolutely phenomenal experience. read more

We arrived just before evening weekday rush. Got the last table. Server good. Food excellent and came out fast. There were 5 of us all with different dishes and all good. It was very noisy. Trying to get out was a real challenge. People stood on both sides of the hallway and wouldn't give way for you to pass. Two complaints besides trying to exit. The water tasted like sewer treated water. 5 lemon wedges made it drinkable. The young man who cleaned the tables did one of my biggest turn offs. He wiped the tables down and with the same rag he wioed the seats and then with the same rag went back to the table! Saw him do this twice. So gross. read more

Meglio's is what I would call a destination experience. When we entered their restaurant, we were greeted by music and a very friendly owner/Joe and several other friendly young men behind their counter. Their pizzas are good (we took today's pizza to go), and the lasagna I had on a previous visit was phenomenal. The dessert offerings looked tempting, especially if you like cheesecake. This family run business is exactly what you expect when you walk through the door, warm air rushing from the kitchen, whiffs of garlic and hot pizza and a line out the door during peak hours. If I lived in Newtown this would be my pizza joint and let's just say, me being Southern, I am obsessed with BYOB restaurants! Great 1st time experience. Wood-fired pizza was fantastic and can't say enough for how great the service was. Someone was always available for drink re-fills, napkins, dish removal, etc. Was clean and had amble seating for small & large groups. And BYOB so check always looks great when you bring your own drinks. You need to try Meglios at least once. read more

The service we had at this restaurant was beyond awesome. Our waitress was prompt, attentive, and our food arrived piping hot. The 12 inch wood fire pizza should have been large enough for two, but it was so good finishing one by yourself is super easy to do. The Margarita pizza was thin and delicious and the Fra Diablo was spicy and extremely tasty. The atmosphere was of a typical Italian pizzeria but the Monday Mexican Night sounds like something I want to try next. Overall a perfect date night place. read more

My husband and I came here (on (5/12) while in Newtown to take care of some business. We were looking for a casual BYOB. A friend suggested Meglio. This worked out perfect since our meeting was in walking distance. Meglio sits in the heart of Newtown with shops and other restaurants and a cute ice cream spot right around the corner. When we entered, we were greeted with a friendly "large" staff. The place isn't that big, but I chalked it up to an eatery that gets a lot of business. We wanted to sit outside but the hostess said it would be 15 minutes, so we opt to eat in....no problem. The only table available was right up front near the counter where the wait staff could see us. Menus were already on the table so we looked over the entrees, sat the menus down - a sign that we're pretty much ready to order. Several waiters, bus boys and the hostess looking right us continued to walk by us with no response. At this point 10-15 minutes into our wait, a gentleman maybe a manager directing the staff looks at us and says, "have you been waited on"? This "manager" I'm guessing his role since he stayed behind the counter the entire time saw we had our own bottles of wine waiting to be served, immediately grabs wine glasses and brings them over. He offers us some bread to which I believe was to ease the sting of the wait. I see him directing someone over to take our order. Our waitress Kaitlyn was apologetic, but I don't blame her since I saw her waiting on many tables (inside and outside) trying her best. And by the way once she took our order she was gracious, prompt, continued to check on us and even gave us cannoli's on the house. It just amazed me and my husband that this large staff walking around, some serving, others at the counter looking directly as us but not one of them offered us water, or even state "someone would be us soon." As a matter of fact, another couple came in after us and decided to wait for a table outside and was offered a glass of tea while they waited. Very disappointing that we didn't receive the same customer service while we waited. Overall, the pizza pies were great along with our bottles of wine, but the service could be better. read more

If I could give a million stars I would. Meglio's is amazing. A pleasure to work with them. My development had a tailgate party and we ordered 2 of the 6 foot hoagies which served 55 to 70 people. (Must give a few days notice for the 6 foot hoagies). I felt responsible bc it was my idea to do this. And it was a "WOW!!" The best hoagies ever!! (Phew!) We ordered a turkey and the second 6 foot was half tuna and half italian. I mean this was a total success. The hoagies were delivered exactly on time. Toppings on the side including cheese, onions, peppers, oil, Vinegar, mayo, and mustard. Napkins, plates and even serving spoons were provided. It was nicely set up by our delivery guy...who happened to be the owner!! Last time we had a pool party and numerous pizzas were ordered. Same deal...impressive as well. The food is fresh, generous, and reasonable. Our development has a lot of events through the year and Meglio's is our favorite place. They appreciate their customers and we appreciate them. Our family enjoyed wonderful food and service last Sunday on our 1st visit to Newtown. Tomato soup starter was served hot with croutons and was yummy. I had the Buffalo chicken on toasted Kaiser and it is as good as any chicken I ever ate in Buffalo served with blue cheese dressing on the side. My grandson ate a cheese pizza - I mean a whole pizza. My daughter and wife split a vegetarian pizza they raved about, especially the crust. The service was friendly and attentive, the restaurant itself was clean and operations orderly. I love their meatball parmigiana sandwich with caramelized onions! It's good for two dinners for me! Their wood fired pizza is delicious if eaten there, but doesn't seem as good when taken home - the crust gets softer. The toppings on the wood-fired pizza are skimpy though, & stop at least 2 inches from the edges. We've loved their chicken cheesesteaks, soups, & quesadillas- Monday nights are Mexican specials. We ordered the pesto ravioli and penne vodka. The waitresses acute attention to detail made for a wonderful dining experience. She noticed we were vegetarian and the dish had a little bit of meat in it so she reordered it for us. The kitchen made it expeditiously within 10 minutes. I'm in Newtown walking around a craving for a slice a pizza. A while ago I went to Newtown pizza and was not overly thrilled about it so this is right down the street. Enter I do says yoda. The place is very clean and the staff is very nice. The 1st thing that hits you is the comforting warm smell of the wood over burning. We ordered two waters, mozzarella cheese fries and the wood oven Maglio pizza which is approximately 12 inches with caramelized onion, sausage and ricotta cheese. The fries were the first time in a long time there was cheese on top, middle and bottom. Perfect. The pizza was fresh with and the pie was a perfect lunch pie for two. You can probably finish a slice in four bites. But then again it's lunch not dinner. The pizza was $13 and the fries were $6. A nice lunch and a nice place for under $20.
