Arrived at the deli counter at 1 PM. No workers were in the area so I called out "hello" a few times. After waiting a few minutes, I went to customer service. They paged. As I arrived back at the deli desk, a young man was hovering in front of the counter. Then he went behind the counter and started turning the dials at the oven. I waited thinking he might not have seen me, and he never addressed me, so I asked, "do you work the deli counter?" He snapped, "I have to wash my hands!" I waited for him to wash his hands, then he said, "I've always worked the deli counter and I have never seen a "customer behind" the counter." Obviously he said this sarcastically. We love this ACME, the best part, besides the customer service, is that they donate their food to Philabundance when their signature food is going out of date! That way our neighbors can eat for free and it doesn't go into the trash or the landfills. Did you know, food that goes into the landfills produces a gas that is dangerous for our environment and planet? Anyway, their produce looked pretty good! We purchased our favorite, salad mix with sunflower seeds and as a treat for us we always purchase Utz pretzels (special dark) everyone's favorite. ACME, has their beautiful flowers on display, along with some wrought iron table and chairs, for two. Don't forget the charcoal for your barbecue or fire Pitt! Nope. Things have really gone downhill at the Media Acme. Maybe blame Covid? Maybe blame overworked, underpaid employees? Whatever it is, I now hate shopping here and will go to Giant or even Whole Paycheck before I come to this Acme (The one by Granite Run is not good either). Prices are often coded incorrectly (sale price does not come up). Produce is just OK and grocery items (canned goods, packed foods) are priced too high. Not a great place to shop any more. Only ever shop here when there is A great sale because As everyone in Media knows (And complains about in my circle ) this particular Acme has incredibly cluttered aisles, aisles with weird angles and exits and stuff hanging off the shelves blocking your view of some items. But today I happen to get an incredible buy on soups that were Buy three get five free so I endured. Generally I prefer to not use self check out because I have a moral feeling about people having lost their jobs for this option. I'll gladly sacrifice another eight or nine minutes in line so that people could have jobs, but that's another story. But today as is usually the case the past 5 years Only one checkout line was open so I self checked out. Many of the items did not come up on sale and had to be corrected by the self check out clerk who was annoyed at having to do so. Is this my fault? NO!!!! If I was able to be checked out by a checker the items that I questioned would have been checked and corrected without an attitude or complaint. This is not a Covid Related staff issue because all of the employees I've seen in here today Have been here over 10 years. It's just the nature of people working in a cluttered environment in a highly populated area. Perhaps this Acme should double check that their programmed pricing is accurate to alleviate stress on both the employee and customer? I'll be back but not for another 6 months,sorry. read more

I haven't had a problem at this store the few times I visit. The location is good for Media and it's good to be able to have parking in Media as well. I was hoping for a ready made sandwich, but none were available on this last minute Wednesday afternoon. I didn't have to face crowds because it was about 2 PM. I wanted a relaxing, but convenient pre-made item, I had started to look for a salad bar only to be reminded that most groceries stores have now closed or scaled back their salad bars sadly and understandably. Acme tends to have higher prices for things that I'd want. Some of their in-house food tends to be a bit better to me that other typical grocery stores around their level. I ended up with a pre-made fettucine alfredo chicken and it was eh. Good portion size for me, but I'm wondering if I should've just taken out from the Olive Garden for more. Sigh. read more

Moldy tomatoes, produce completely out of stock or haphazardly scattered around, and dirty floors. Nobody seemed to want to work, which makes sense given the unprovoked exclaimation by the passive aggressive cashier that there was no manager and several staff called out. None of this can be excused for a major organization like ACME. We'll never return. read more

I never really write reviews but I'm truly sick of the quality of this acme in specific. Too many times I've come home after shopping noticing spoiled food and same day sell by dates. The location alone is amazing and gives the store a lot of potential customers yet they rarely ever have decent quality produce or fresh meats & seafood which explains their ratings. The first couple of times it has happened, I wrote it off as being my fault for not checking closely enough. However I've decided after seemingly the 100th time it's happened to no longer waste my money at this grocer. It's understandable for them to mark items that go out of date the same day to a sale price, but not when said item is already out of date when they package it up. NEVER BUY SALMON HERE, every single time I've gotten it (or any other fresh fish) even if the expiration is still a week out I've found that typically it's still unsafe to eat even the same day you buy it, always overly smelly and slimy, it would have to be packaged when already starting to go bad for it to be this spoiled. Same goes for their fresh meat department, the steaks, pork, chicken are never a good quality and more often than not go bad within only a day or two if you don't immediately freeze them (which no good cook wants to do) your safe getting anything in boxed/dry items but who wants to do their shopping in multiple different stores just because this acme doesn't put out good fresh products. Even the produce department lacks on putting out fresh fruits & vegetables, multiple times I've been here and noticed fruit flys grouping around, on and inside the fruits out on display and it's an instant turn off to buy anything from the store. Bagged vegetables that are already rotting inside, to sum it all up this acme continues to try to sell out of date and spoiled product to (I'd assume) save their own pockets and screw over the average person out of their hard earned money, certainly not an issue of understaffing and there is always an array of employees moseying around with AirPods in their ears. We usually do our Acme Shopping at another location, and we find our shopping experience there to be outstanding, a five star experience. We happened to be in Media, PA on other business, and we did some shopping here--and what a difference!!! This store is awful, horrendous, and blatantly commits price fraud. 1). They had a HUGE stack of Pepsi and Diet Pepsi right at the entrance, with a huge sign saying, "$1.99 per 12 pack if you buy 4" When we went to checkout, the clerk, who was pretty clearly a high schooler of limited ability, punched in each of the 12 packs at $5.99. When we noted the discrepancy, the clerk refused to make the adjustment, which means that we had stumbled upon a STORE RIPOFF POLICY Of FRAUD and DECEIT. The manager took us over to the sign read what we read, and said "the sign clearly requires that you buy at least one 12 pack of Mountain Dew.". Now, there was no Mountain Dew in sight. Everywhere you looked was Pepsi, no Coke or Mountain Dew. The Sign didnt even have the words "Mountain Dew" on them. 2) when we complained to the manager, he threatened to call the police unless we stopped exercising our consumer rights. 3) we put the diet coke back and regused to pay for it. 4) we bought two veal cutlets advertised at "nuy one get one free". On the receipt later, we saw that the clerk had charged us for both. False and fradulent. 5). Many meats were advertised at one lowprice, but were rung up at a higher price than advertised. 6). the store advertised all over that they had plentiful "Organic and Gluten Free Products". In fact, in four freezer aisles, only 3 shelves of one door had gluten free products, and only one half aisle had organics or gluten free products. 7) the store was dirty. 8) The staff was discourteous, mean spirited and rude to customers. Most of their customers are elderly and retired, who cannot read so well, or who are walkins, so its obvious the store is engaged in price-gouging. In summary, an awful experience. In case you think we're alone, we suggest you look at other Yelp reviews of this location, which also note in concurrence the abysmal quality of the store and their lack of attention to apple pay, organic and gluten free foods. And also the poor quality of the staff. Wish we'd looked at Yelp before shopping here! The manager was rude, curt, discourteous, and uttered sexist and racist language in our hearing while we passed his desk. In fact, the whole staff was using such language. We are very religious and were deeply offended. read more

For quick and easy access, you can't beat this store. Actually, it's sort of a Mega Wawa. Close to the main intersection of Baltimore Pike and Providence Road, literally across the street from A major drug store chain, and plenty of parking. The store seems to capitalize in ready made foods, flowers, and a huge deli section. Their self-cashier options is awesome, as I'd rather pack the stuff myself instead of having a careless worker crush my eggs and bread. read more

So, I placed an order for delivery today. Time for delivery was between 5 and 7 pm. I received a text telling me my order was "shopped" and ready to go. Trouble one: 10 substitutions without my permission for things I would never have agreed to. And, for the same price for knock off substitutions as the brand name items. Nevertheless, I went home and arrived by 5. At 7:30, with no food delivery I called the store. Was told the manager of drive through wasn't there and that I could call back at 9 am. Really? I called again and this time someone checked my order and said no driver had ever even picked it up. Hmmmm....milk and other goods were sitting on a shelf waiting for some unknown driver to show up? This has got to be, hands down, the WORST DELIVERY SERVICE EVER....IN FACT THE WORST BULLSHIT NON-DELIVERY SERVICE EVER. AND...THEY DEBITED MY CARD FOR GROCERIES I NEVER RECEIVED! We don't mind this Acme, the prices could be better, but this goes for all Acme groceries (probably in the region). The customer service is always friendly. We find better deals sometimes at Target and Trader Joe's even--but this will always be a fluctuating market. We are happy that they now carry Morningstar brands (re: Kellogg's) but it is usually very pricey and for vegetarians who are on a budget, it can be hard to keep purchasing it at Acme when the target down the street in Springfield offers it for a more budgeted price. It's cool that they carry Amy's as well, but again: very pricey. Cheese is insanely expensive also. I would say that we source 90% of our veg and fruit at the open markets locally (anyway) unless we can't find something. I do love that they have the self-checkout. Self-checkout = awesome. Please, please, please, for the love of God get another Redbox machine. The traffic is always heavy and for new people who have no idea how to use the darn thing (new customers: check out the board on the machine beforehand or at least realize that you can only get two on your first time rental!). Honestly, it makes it a pain in the butt to wait around to rent anything so we can't even be bothered anymore. I miss the Blockbuster that was in the same plaza. At least the clueless people were browsing without actually talking out in front of a stupid machine and debating over whether or not their player can work with Blueray DVDs or not. "No honey, not the Blueray, we don't have a Blueray--you hit Blueray again!" Arrgh! Ice cream melted. 15 minutes wasted. No convenience, whatsoever. read more

I don't like Acme or Giant, so for me to give it a 3 star is a hard pill to swallow. But its along the lines of choosing the least of the 2 evils between Acme and Giant. In the grand scheme of things, this Acme is cleaner, spaced properly, and open except for when you get to the pharmacy section where it seems like they ran out of room. Nevertheless the parking is exceedingly simple, and large enough for even the busiest of days Saturday/Sunday afternoons. The deli section is unsurprisingly bland, but still with everyone would expect from a chain mega-market type of store. In all this place is well lit, and has some good bakery. But everything else is basically standard with no surprises. read more

DELI is the WORST I've ever seen! They are miserable women that need to go sit where someone cannot see them. They gave me attitude as soon as I walked up and also got my order wrong.. typical right. They can't operate Apple Pay correctly. They ask for the last 4 digits of your credit card, which is not supposed to be required for using Apple Pay. Then the last 4 digits don't work, so you're backto plastic anyway. If they get this working I'll change my review. read more

Since the Acme corporate website has a glitch that will not allow me to post my comments there, I will post my thoughts about this store here: I had never been in this particular store before and will not be returning. Store was small and choppy. The minute I stepped in the door, I met with the most miserable, rude employee. It was approximately 3 PM and raining. I stepped in the door and she was returning carts from the outside. She went to give me one and I said "that's ok, I'm going to try to find a dry one". Her response was a loud, ignorant, almost scream "they're all wet - it's raining". I was embarrassed and angry that someone would speak to me that way and in front of other customers. In addition, there were plenty of dry carts. When I was leaving the store, I watched her pushing more carts from the outside angrily and talking under her breath. This would not be someone I would want representing my store. Other stores in the area have pleasant, helpful employees in this position. Even the stores that employ the mentally handicapped in this capacity have managed to provide better customer service training. read more

This store at 527 E Baltimore Pike Media, PA 19063 has a lot of expired items on its shelves. They do not rotate their stock. They just push it to back of the shelves, and than put new items on the shelves. So, watch the expiration dates when you buy there. Also, any 1/2 priced baked items, are always 2 days expired. Why the consumer relations dept. lets them sell expired products, is beyond me. That needs to be stopped. I know people that have gotten moldy taco shells, and you name it, just because they don't take the time to rotate the stock. Also, some of the employees are crabby, and mad and act like they don't want to work there, let alone deal with you. You be better off going to the Super Wawa across the street. At least you do not have to worry about bringing spoiled food home. read more

This Acme is terrible. They have very little selection and the layout of the store is disorganized. During my most recent (and final) visit, the checkout clerk didn't bag any of my groceries. A few other employees were standing around watching me bag my own groceries. Finally when I asked for assistance, the cashier gave me attitude and put one thing in a bag that she failed to hand me. I had to drive all the way back to the store from my home to retrieve the item. Worst costumer service. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more
