Not going to dance around this.
My personal experience has been, many Black Americans in the Philly area do not like Asian Americans and have no problems showing it.
Young black worker roaming aisles was greeting everyone, 'Just let me know if you need anything" and trying to be helpful.
This was like 4-5 times I witnessed this.
But to me, nothing. No greeting. Not a word.
I stood in an aisle specifically looking for something, and she was in that aisle too, standing next to me, looking at the same shelving too, but nothing, nothing, nothing.
If I were the manager, I would fire her.
But then again, I didn't see too many Asian-Am faces among the customers so as long as most of the customers are white, it should be ok, at least from a purely financial perspective.
The Southeast Asian / Indian-American checkout clerk who helped me was very friendly and courteous.
The store was not stocked much differently from Wayne / Gateway Shopping Center.
And it was less crowded (but this store is new) and aisles were a little wider, I think.
This is still PA so, of course, no alcohol.
Don't think I am returning.
Wayne or KOP locations, I don't remember being treated like this.
There is a new TJ's also in Exton, in same mall as Kohls' and Hobby Lobby. read more
