Terrible customer service. I called on Friday about my 2007 ford e350 and described electrical issues It was having. They said they could get to it Monday so I waited. I dropped off my van on Monday and again described the electrical issues it was having. I picked it up the next day with a diagnosis of "having some electrical issues" and I was told they do not work on electrical issues.... they only charged me $40 for this diagnosis but I would have rather payed full price for a proper diagnosis. Do not go to Deans auto! Even if they are under new ownership? They had my car for a yr for an engine swap. They not only didn't do anything, when they finally said come get it due to new ownership, I got a car back missing expensive parts, scratched, interior ruined from windows down in their lot!! They fried the wiring harness and thus computer. The new shop had to buy so many new parts it cost over 14g for a simple engine swap!!! Horrid respect for my property and bad communication during the yr!!! Unacceptable!!! My hard earned savings wiped out because we had no idea they damaged car so bad when new shop had to pull engine back out and replace everything!!! I'm still missing pieces. Update: I've been coming to Dean's for years. Recently, I came in for an inspection prior to a cross-country trip. I was told everything looked fine. Lo and behold, my car didn't make it an hour and a half outside of town without a blowing a tire. My coolant was low, and a handful of other things that should have been addressed during the inspection. I called Dean's and the gentleman I spoke with explained that they may have changed the oil, but overlooked the inspection. He said he'd investigate, but never called me back. I'm so disappointed. I hadn't been to Dean's in years since I moved from the neighborhood. But when my Dodge Mini Van needed repairs in Feb. I went back. Dean's was over $200 less than 2 other places who looked at it, they did a great job for me! Then last week the same minivan's transmission went out on the way up to Flag, I called the dealer who put it in 2 years & 2 months ago, they said no it was no longer covered under warranty. I had it towed to Dean's. They checked it out & yes it was the transmission, they called & questioned the dealership and got them to say it should be covered. But if in the end the dealership wanted to charge me to let Dean's know & they would beat the price! I had it towed to the dealership & it was fully covered! Dean's didn't charge me to diagnose the issue and they advocated on my behalf. Dean's now has a customer in me for life! Thank you Dean's! read more

So, after writing a letter to the Better Business Bureau regarding my poor experience with Dean's Auto Repair, I received a phone call from the owner. This was very welcome considering I did not expect to ever hear from them. We spoke for about 15 minutes, and had a very good and productive conversation. He apologized profusely, and offered what I found to be a rather good and reasonable explanation for some of the issues I was having. Of course, and I told him this, had someone taken the extra few minutes to explain them at that time, we wouldn't be having this conversation. He understood. At the end of the day, I was impressed by the honest, concerned response from Mr. McMaster. I believed him when he told me that he appreciated me getting his attention with the BBB letter, and that he was going to be making some changes that would aid in avoiding these kinds of issues in the future. Additionally, he offered me a coupon for a free oil change. I still have not decided if I will use it, but given the owner's stated commitment to improvement, I will likely give them the opportunity to show me that. read more

We have traditionally taken our vehicles strictly to the dealerships for any type of repairs. Recently my wife found a coupon for Dean's in the ValuPak. She convinced me to give them a try and we are glad we did. She celled them to talk about to schedule an appointment. When she got off the phone she just couldn't stop raving about their customer service. That was just the first call. The following day we dropped the car off to them 15 minutes before they opened for the day. Again, great customer service. The great customer service just kept consistent through our entire experience. Their quality of work has been great and they don't try to push repairs on you. I didn't use it, but I understand that they offer a shuttle service. Since writing this review I have received a phone call from them making sure that I was satisfied with their service and received a thank you card in the mail. They continue to impress me. I usually go to corporate chains for oil changes but I pass this place every day so I decided ill try here. Even over the phone (I forgot his name I feel like an jerk but he's got to be a manager) he was friendly and fit me in on my day off. I showed up early for my appointment and not only did they get my oil changed in less than an hour, they for free helped me put on windshield wipers after mine were vandalized. I was so overwhelmed with little car problems here and there and then even told me my tires were bald and that a couple recommended repairs weren't necessary, whereas other places upsell you to the point of fear mongering. That's all I went in for, they were busy and had the place packed on cars they were working on and still they were quick and efficient! They even went as far as changing my air filter for free, he let me know mine was out dated and I went down to the nearest O'Riley, came back and got it changed for free. Our truck was making a strange noise. After talking with our nephew who is a mechanic, we took the vehicle to Deans and told them we believe the problem was in the vacuum line. After the truck was in their shop for 2 days, they informed us that they tested the vacuum lines and the problem was actually the transfer case. They replaced the transfer case. After we started our 120 mile trip home, we had the same noise occur twice and were afraid we would get stranded at night. We made it home but the next day we had the vacuum lines checked. They said they couldn't have been tested by Deans because the mud from a storm a week previous was still around the fittings. It turned out that the problem was that the vacuum line was cracked. We called George at Deans and were told that their mechanic was now on vacation and there was nothing they could do to refund our money. We will not refer them to anyone nor use them again. read more

Brand new to AZ, the process of finding a new mechanic can be a little slice of hell. Luckily, I found Dean's on Yelp and the three good reviews had me heading over there to figure out what was wrong with my gas tank and gas gauge. Right away over the phone, I was given the rundown that the estimate is free and they would even shuttle me back to my place while the process unfolded. When I arrived at Dean's, there were several older women waiting for their cars to be fixed and they were telling me that this place has been around for over 50 years and they have been bringing their cars in for decades to get fixed which was comforting. There are photos on the wall of years gone past and that says they have been doing something right. As for my car, Grant found a way to get into my tank through the trunk saving several hours in labor costs and also identified other parts I needed as he figured out my problem. My car was bought used so i didn't know it needed a new battery and fuel filter, which I am glad they discovered. I was kept mostly informed of the timetable for my repairs and even though my vehicle had the worst case scenario (Fuel pump), it was easy to be impressed with the detail-oriented mechanics (calling all over for best price on parts and breaking car talk down to the basics), friendly front-desk people and long-time customers who keep coming back which now includes me. read more

I purchased a used Jaguar XJR, and needed to find a service location to maintain my car. I did not want to utilize the Jaguar dealer, as there is only one in the valley and it is not convenient to my location, and I already knew I was buying a super-car, and repairs, when needed, would be pricey. I didn't want to add a dealership premium on top. I found Dean's using Google and I read the reviews I could find both here on Yelp and elsewhere. All of them were stellar. I gave them a call to schedule my first oil change and to get estimates on some other services I thought I might need. These included brakes, belts, and some possible transmission work. When I arrived, Bobby the manager immediately set me at ease. I was apprehensive about seeking out service on this type of car from a non dealer shop, but that was instantly gone once Bobby started talking about my car. It was obvious from the get go that he was knowledgable about the marque and the model. He went over the list I had brought of areas that I thought I might need to have service and basically told me I didn't need any of it. My brakes did not need replacing, in fact they were quite new. I didn't need any belt replacements or transmission service. Besides the oil change I had come for, the only thing I actually need was an air filter replacement. Noah did the work on my car, and he is just fantastic. He admitted he was a Jaguar fan, and I felt like he would take care of my car as it were his own. He checked the car over, and gave me some tips and pointers on things that I could expect being a first time Jaguar owner. He also took the time to buff out a scuff I had unfortunately given her on one of the passenger doors just after I bought her. I certainly didn't expect that they would offer to do that. That was very much appreciated. The entire time I was waiting for my service I was engaged in some friendly chat with the receptionist. We talked about her cars, and she went over the history of the dealership. Everyone was just incredibly friendly. I never felt like anyone was interested in squeezing anything extra out of me. Quite the opposite in fact, as I previously mentioned they honestly told me that I was not due for services I had come prepared to schedule and pay for. Now I'm a woman who doesn't know a thing about cars except when a light keeps coming on, that I better get it checked out,) I just moved to the east side/central phoenix from Goodyear. I knew the mechanics on the west side for years and just was recently told even by the cars dealership, that my repairs were a minimum of $750 and the other was $900. Fed up and taking a shot at a street sign, stopped at Deans Auto Repair and waited for the assaulting of charges BUT NOT DEANS AUTO REPAIR!!! What a refreshing change!! They called me and said it was fixed and the best part.! No charge! All it needed was a bolt to be tightened!! Now , in that moment they made a lifetime customer!
