Really disappointed. I have ordered from Acer a number of times in the past, but something has changed. When they have delivered in the past, they always notified us and helpfully asked where best to place the material. This time, they just dumped it and took off, killing two of my neighbor's plants and breaking some of our concrete in the process. Will definitely reconsider using them in the future. We needed some material to fill parts of our backyard. So we went to check out Acer Landscape Materials, in Shingle Springs, CA. They are about 10 miles from Folsom. I recall having been there years before. Its been awhile. The whole place has a rural feel, the entire lot is small and has no paved parking lot. It's all gravel. They don't have a dedicated parking lot, find a spot that doesn't block the flow of traffic. They do have designated handicap spots. Or you can park next door at the El Dorado Nursery and walk over using their secret gate. Ok it's not a secret just ask the staff, they will be happy to guide you. But gotta say that the nursery parking lot is also gravel and not particularly large. It is not a long walk, they are right next to each other separated by a fence. The trailer office at Acer's has samples of the materials lined up on a shelf. Great. That way you don't have roam their lot in the heat. You can if you want to though. Also inside the office are large wall boards with the pricing. They got stonewalls, geowalls, cinderblocks, Italian pavers, estate walls, fire pits, techno soil (don't know what that is but they have 16 varieties), flagstone (over 20)... rock in decorative colors, types, and sizes... bark also in different types, colors, sizes., The staff here are super helpful, friendly, and professional. They have some characters that made me laugh and others that are more business like but not at all unfriendly. We ended up ordering materials and setting up a delivery time and paying the fee. The pricing was cheaper than another material shop located in Rancho Cordova, CA. Acer was even able to deliver the next day on a Sunday. Wow... Sunday, that's rare. But we scheduled it for a weekday instead. We were given a 2 hour delivery timeframe. The driver called within 15-20 minutes before they got to the house. He dumped the materials in front as instructed. Great. read more

I would not recommend this business to my worst enemy. Under new management/ownership as of a couple of years ago, it appears. They are- Ridiculously overpriced. Terrible at customer service. I was a customer for many years, but no more. The last few times I've had interactions with these clowns, I've wondered how they stay in business. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. You don't want to give them your money or your time. They will no longer divide loads, so you've got to pay a separate inflated delivery fee for each type of material. The folks at the counter and in the yard are dismissive, uncaring, unhelpful, and not terribly bright. They all seem to have the attitude that they're doing you a favor by taking your money. I'd guess that the only reason they've stayed in business with their newly lousy management and staffing is because they haven't much local competition. From now on, I'll go elsewhere, no matter the inconvenience. This place does not deserve a business license. My advice to them. Sell the business to someone with a clue. There is an unwritten rule in business, what you state on your price wall is what you should charge. They charge $5.60 on the price wall, and the price that rings up is $6.40. They don't correct, they just self disgrace themselves with awkwardness and lame excuses. Avoid this business. read more

Here's a testament to the integrity and dishonesty of this business with photos. My wife and I were driving on Mother Lode when we were passed by a dump truck going the opposite direction. My truck was sprayed with pea gravel. We turned around and caught the truck who was pulled over. He stopped because someone called that his tail gate was open. We went to the business and on the way seen pea gravel all over the road and then in front of the business. Employees out cleaning up several yards of pea gravel in the roadway. I was told by the driver to talk to the manager Uriel who's spineless answer was " I can't do anything for you". As a landscaper for 30 years I used to frequent this place and later also remembered that a number of years ago they hit my trailer with a tractor once as well. Bottom feeders. read more

The German lady who used to own this place was great. The guy who owns the place now is a liar, plain and simple. I ordered bark and rock from them in May of 2023 and they couldn't deliver what they promised to deliver when they promised to deliver it. I didn't raise a huge stink over it, and when the owner promised that he would pick up any delivery costs on my next order, I said okay. Fast forward to May of 2024, I go in to place an order and remind him of the conversation we had. To my surprise, there is no note of any such conversation ever having been had, and he basically told me he didn't care enough to look any deeper into it. You are a liar, and that is unacceptable. You have taken a well run business and ruined it. Look at your reviews ever since the start of 2023... what a joke! I'll get my landscape supply from Sierra Landscaping. I hope you have a good bankruptcy attorney, because the way you're running this business you're going to need one sooner than later. I should have checked more of these reviews before going, but didn't and now i'm going to have to go get more, but at least I know this is one of the more expensive local landscaping materials lots up this way and that they either don't measure yards accurately for DG or every single other landscaping materials yards up here (every single other one) measures theirs wrong because i've gone to each and got twice as much DG from every other place than this yard. Unfortunately, they're the closest to me so now i know not to send my husband either and will just have to order from other places and have them deliver - NEVER going to allow Acer to rip me off again!! read more

Delivered tiny rock, they display massive 8" rock, then we receive tiny pebbles , they tell me "that's what's in the bin" .... so I asked for a yard and a half of the correct rock, they say " 2 yard minimum for delivery" LOL I'm literally across the street and they show extremely miss leading merchandise, had no interest in making it right, go somewhere else read more

Everytime I go in they take my money and tell me someone will be out to help me load. (Notice they take my money first). Never does this happen. I go back to the office and re-ask, and golly gee, their guy is "at lunch". Every time. I have to ask their other customer to help me lift the buckets into my car. I had 22 yards of bark delivered this morning. I pointed to where I wanted the bark in the driveway, and the driver asked that I move my truck (which was not near where I wanted the bark). I figured he was the driver and was operating the dump truck and knew best, so I moved my truck and he preceded to dump in the area that I had not directed him. I figured it would be fine, and let it be. Several hours after the delivery, I went down to the bottom of the driveway and noticed the drivers wheel had went through a planter, broke a sprinkler line, moved the base of a Crape Myrtle tree and created a mess for me to deal with. When I called to inform them of what the driver did, I was met with an unfortunate attitude and a driver who was unwilling to even offer an apology. I have had multiple deliveries from Acer over the past few years, but I will not be back. Beware, when you have a quality issue, there is zero remorse. I'll be taking my $1k elsewhere next time I need landscape material. read more

Amazingly, if you are a homeowner doing a small landscaping project and need 1/4 yard of any landscape material, you are out of luck. They only sell 1/2 yard or more because, as the sales rep told me, they don't have a loader bucket that is calibrated to 1/4 yard. To buy one would be a minor expense for them, but they clearly don't care to sell small quantities, except in bags which would cost much more. I was totally disgusted with this lame excuse, and drove to Nimbus Landscaping, where you CAN buy in 1/4 yard volume. Don't buy from these guys. Another great experience with Acer. I needed a lot of gravel, placed just right, and that's what I got. The driver for this job was Tod. He was friendly, careful on my property, and listened to what I needed. Because he did a great job laying the material, it saved me many hours with a shovel and rake. I've been buying materials from this company for 3 years now. Ever since new owners took over, the quality of product and service has tanked. 6 months ago I ordered fill dirt to be delivered for a playground I was building - it had so much glass, concrete, and metal mixed in, it took me 2 entire days to clean it up before I could start building. Today I took my trailer to pick up some rock - the front loader driver missed my trailer with half of the load (I guess it was too small for him to be able to properly operate the front loader to hit it), so I had to pick up rocks for 20 minutes. The load also seemed light for a half yard. Next time I'll try someplace new. read more

I want to let you know about what happened to me and my experience with Acer. I purchased 4 yards of bark to be delivered and when purchasing they asked where would I like it delivered. I let them know on the right side of the driveway and I paid and left. I also asked if I needed to be present when they delivered and they said no not at all, they would take care of it. Later on that day, the delivery guy was dropping off, as I went outside to see exactly where it would be dropped off at, the driver failed to stop, and rammed the house, I had to run out to the truck and punch the side of the truck to stop, but he had already damaging the gutter. His words were "so...rry". I asked what now? He said the owner would be in contact. I said ok, 3 days later, I called because I had not heard anything. When I called, I was told by the wife of the owner that I would get a call back. 2 days later, nothing. I called again, they yelled out around the room, "its the gutter guy.. tell him we will call him back." 2 days later, nothing, I called again and they said "we tried to call you, but there was no answer." I thought that's funny, no missed calls and no voice messages. The next day, my wife and I stopped in to say hi to Acer in person. It was at that point the owner's wife said.."if you look at your receipt you will see that Acer is not responsible for any damages if delivered." They could have mentioned that from the start. Yes, it was there, it did say that. I wanted to review and let you know.. buyer beware..read your receipts. In my opinion, if I had a business, I would have called the customer immediately or as soon as possible, I would have insurance for these instances and I would have took care of my customer. As it is, the damages is estimated at $400.. thank you. Acer. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- That was a review from month ago.. a few days after that review the owner called me and let me know he was sorry that he had been super busy that his business was busy and short staffed. He asked that I take down the review and he would pay for the damages. I agreed, and took down the review immediately after getting off the call. 2 days later, I called to let him know that I took the review down and asked if he made good on his request, he said.. as good as done! 3 weeks later.. NOTHING! I thought Acer was good on their word, but I was mistaken. read more

We ordered rock to be delivered today. We gave explicit instructions as to where we wanted it placed. We paid the $120 delivery fee for 2 yards of stone. When we arrived home, they had dumped it behind our car and nowhere near where we asked them to dump it. We called and spoke to an employee who supposedly asked the owner what they could do. They stated they would not come back to move it nor refund us the delivery charge. We are senior citizens who will now have to hire someone to move it. They had our phone number and could have called if they were "confused" by our request as to where to leave it. We own a business as well and go to great lengths to make our customers happy. So it is disappointing and disturbing that we don't get the same in return. Needless to say we will be looking elsewhere from now on for our landscaping needs. read more

Great product selection and the prices are competitive with other businesses that sell this type of landscaping material. Justin was terrific, he helped us load our material on both of our trips. Justin was both attentive and friendly. We always try to shop local as the big national box stores continue to expand and grab market share. We give good customer service a heavy weighting in our decision process as we decide where to shop for our needs. NICE PEOPLE ! I ordered A LOT of black slate chips form this place! I am talking about 20 plus yards. It was over the summer and I forgot the price but I know this had great pricing for being little further. My friend Adam from comfort inn recommended them to me and they really took care of me. They delivered it to Elk Grove for a reasonable price as well. The first batch was awesome. We ended ordering more because we were underestimated our project size and they delivered it asap. The second batch had a lot of mud and the owner came out to check it out and he brought extra rocks for us to make up for the missing yardage. I will definitely return and do business with them if I am getting a larger amount of material. read more

If I could rate more then 5 stars then I would. I ordered 14 yards of rock today and the customer service was excellent. My first load of rock was delivered within a hour. The gentleman who came to deliver the rock was great. He was able to steer the dump truck around some obstacles and dump the first load exactly where we needed it The second load he was able to go even further down the road and dump in the perfect spot as well. We finished up the first 7 yards around 2:30 and realized we could use about another 7 yards on the road. One phone call and they were able to be over within a hour. No hassle. No drama. I have been doing business here for years and everything was good. I am a contractor so i spent alot of money there. Recently when going over my reciepts i noticed they were charging a 3.5 percent "convenience fee" for credit card use. Lmfao. 3.5 percent for a one time credit card transaction is disgutig. im not sure if its changed owners but the owners are no longer on site. The new staff is less than friendly w the exception of one of the girls at the counter. Done here, hope the 3.5 percent is worth my thousands of dollars of business every year. read more

Great company. Picked up a few buggies of concrete for a driveway extension awhile back, super nice people. Recently ordered 4 yards of their premium blend, organic soil which is fantastic stuff. I ordered at 9:15 and it was delivered at 9:47. And I'm about 20 minutes away. Looked out the window and thought some creep was backing up my driveway before realizing it was the delivery guy...couldn't believe the quickness. Always very friendly on the phone and in person. I am a loyal Acer client. We've purchased bark, slate chips (LOVE!), flagstone, several different types of rock/river rock/decorative rock, fill dirt, topsoil, concrete/mixer. They might be a few bucks more than other places, that would be more of a drive for me, but I love Marta and I usually take advantage of their awesome delivery service. The pricing is great, they can accommodate me faster than anyone else, and excellent customer service & people! If you have time to wait for something like fill dirt in massive bulk (15+ yards) then yes it's worth the wait, but other than that you can't do any better! read more

Called around for estimates on rock with delivery to El Dorado Hills and spoke with a woman with an accent who clearly did not want my business after asking if they provided free delivery like their competitors, and she said no one does "free delivery", so I corrected her and told her the name of the company that did and she replied "then go with them" and hung up.
