Great store very knowledgeable and helpful. I'll shop here before a big box any day! Gladly pay a little more for the service and knowledge.

Before massive orange or blue hardware stores. It seems like ACE was the original friendly neighborhood hardware store. But no, this is actually a new-ish location (2017, maybe?) and I haven't really internalized its presence. But I should. You should too. In the age of the aforementioned hardware behemoths, it's actually pretty darn rad that this spot is here. It's the same owners as "The Store" which is a specialty grocer that has a very fond spot in my heart, as it was grandma's grocer of choice. It's really an eclectic spot which reminds me of those old time hardware stores that do sell hardware, but also party supplies and decor and all kinds of things that don't fit into the category of "groceries." I'm a fan. But those big stores got popular for a reason, so if you are hardcore set on just hardware and lots of varieties of it everywhere, this smaller ACE will not have the same selection. But there's something charming about not having a billion choices, and about finding what you need, directed by a friendly person who will help you find it.

This year, I've noticed a significant drop in customer service. The staff are unhelpful, don't seem to know much and are sometimes downright rude. I sent my son in there yesterday to buy a couple of things and they were rude to him and not helpful at all. He said he felt like they were irritated with his questions. I had to swap out some pipe dope that my son bought yesterday that had clearly been used and then returned. I went in to swap it for a new can and the guy was clearly irritated that I was bothering him. Barely said a word to me. I should have got his name. He's in his 50s or early 60s, was wearing a green America 250 cap and a black Ace Hardware t-shirt. Has a real attitude. If I had the time, I would have given him some pointers on customer service. If he's the owner, this store has a real problem. I think I'm going to drive a few miles and use a different store from now on. I don't need the attitude. The prices in here are higher, but I was willing to pay for the convenience. Not anymore. Word gets around about this kind of behavior. This store won't do well if they keep this up.

In a former life I visited here frequently for some of the odds and ends a fella might need as he's remodeling a house or building a deck. As a hardware store, there's muuuuch to be desired. I don't think I'd come here to shop around for anything. The few shelves of tools, hardware, and other fit-in-your-cart supplies they have on hand are more for convenience when you're there picking up or ordering more hefty stuff. So, it's nice that they carry a small selection of bolts and screws and tape measures and shelf brackets (and so on), but don't plan on this as a swing by and browse kind of adventure. The real bread and butter here is obviously the building supplies. And you should probably have a little swagger in your step when you come through the door and know what you're after. The guys here have always been nice enough to help me stumble through what I was after as I employed my best construction laborer vocabulary, but I can bet it would get tired if I was constantly describing what kind of 2 x 12 I needed by the smell of the wood. "You know, kind of like Christmas trees but less sappy smelling." Kudos to them and their patience. Stock was a serous victim of the housing crunch. This place used to be bumpin' but it's a ghost town nowadays. Their staff was cut down by at least half (I want to say closer to 75% or more) so be patient as they try to get a guy out to the yard to find your stack of 12-footers. The public is always welcome here. They do have "showroom" of some of their door products, casing and trim, and other things they can walk you through, but it's really an insider's world there. Prices can vary wildly. Sometimes the big box stores have better 2x4 prices, but sometimes Stock could crush their prices on more uncommon cuts and materials. It's always worth a phone call, especially if you're buying materials in any kind of bulk. When used right, this can be a great place for good deals, and the salesman will bust their butts to track down what you need and make it convenient for you to pick it up or have it delivered to your jobsite. Never hurts to call them for a quote or to stop by, but just don't expect an orange-aproned experience.

Kobalt advertises their hand tool warranty as "hassle free," but my experience was the opposite. I tried to warranty a 1/4-inch ratchet, and I was told that because it originally came from a set--and because they no longer carried that exact same ratchet--they could not replace it in store. Instead, I was told I would have to go through Kobalt. That does not feel hassle free. It feels like customers are punished for buying a tool set, and if the exact tool is discontinued, you may be out of luck. Be cautious when trusting any warranty that claims to be "hassle free." My experience showed otherwise.

But I don't recommend buying plants from Lowe's because they do not take good care of their plants. their new plants tend to die very quickly because how they maintain them. A positive tho is if you get them the minute they get delivered to the store you will get a great plant for a cheap price compared to other garden nursery's. Their employees tend to not know much about plants either. so they are not helpful. The employees tend ignore your presence when you are there as well. I highly recommend Home Depot over Lowe's especially for their plants.
