Top notch service at ACE today! Will helped me fix two pocket hoses and persevered even though it took a huge effort to fix them properly. Nice soft spoken personality. Thank you Will! read more

Patron of this store. Minimal signage in the parking lot about their towing policy. Came shopped at the store went to the Utes game and they have towed my car..... not so neighborhood friendly hardware store.... Crooked tactics, if you don't want people using your parking lot then make sure signage is adequate read more

With all of the gun violence in America, it's disturbing to stand at the checkout counter and stare at boxes and boxes of ammunition, and children's BB guns teaching a future generation that guns are toys and something that can be played with. While clearly, this is normal for owners and managers of this Ace Hardware store, they clearly have no idea of the Progressive clientele of this uptown area. I grew up hunting and fishing and so I'm no stranger to guns but have come to realize that the world would be a better place with fewer guns and ammunition. I'm very disappointed and will likely make more trips out to Lowe's to avoid supporting this store. read more

Only place in Salt Lake City that has a wine opener!! Ace always comes through I knew I could count on them.

really disappointed at how the manager of this location handled a customer care situation. i purchased a grill 6/29 from ace. rather than assisting me with replacing a single defective part (to which the manager confirms they sell) they wanted me to bring an entire grill back to the store for a return, all because the item number of the part would be different than the grill's item number. this manager is so concerned about a set of corporate rules about return item skus that all logic escapes them. even deciding not to help me with a situation that could saved they company from a $1700 return by helping a customer with a $30 part. I'd expect as much from a walmart but not a brand centered around diy fixes. the hardware folks were anything but helpful, maybe this location should try another slogan. read more

Matt truly went above and beyond to help us. We went to this Ace four times trying to get the right screws and he kindly helped us the second time we came in then The fourth time when we still had it wrong (totally our fault) we rushed in ten minutes before close and he still went above and beyond to make sure we got it right this time. He was so kind and caring even though we were there 10 minutes past closed. Matt was so helpful and kind I hope Ace takes care of him. read more

Pros are that it is close and convenient. Clean and well organized. Great sales. Cons are that costumer service is hit and miss. I have been told by an employee that he was going to get someone to help me and never came back. Weird. Also am usually greeted with someone walking up and giving me a blank stare. Also last couple of times I have walked out empty handed either because they didn't have the part or they were out of something that was on sale. Oh and that country music is awful. read more

The guys in the hardware section are awesome! They are always very helpful and get the right size at the best deal possible. Highly recommend this ace store. read more

Where to go to find the bolt, nut, screw, or fitting you didn't know how to describe, let alone find!,

One of the best secrets about Ace is that they sell local honey from Taylor Honey in Santa Clara. I've had a few jars of it and each batch is different. The last batch I had was very dark amber in color. This one is lighter and is from orange blossoms. Can't wait to try it. read more

I went to your store today looking to purchase a Stihl trimmer. When checking out I was told I could not purchase it as the designated Stihl employee was not working. Because he was not there to fill out the warranty information I could not purchase the trimmer. I was told to come back tomorrow. This is ridiculous to say the least. The best was as we were finishing, the clerk saying he would return the product to the shelf, like he was expecting I would do it after being told I could not purchase it. read more

Gary and Alex at the downtown Ace surpassed my expectations. Custom service and the time they spent with me was most certainly unparalleled to most if not all hardware stores. They were so available to help me. Thank-you. read more

I've visited this location several times and have had uneventful experiences so far; nothing to write home about and nothing to complain about... until today. Went to start up our evaporative cooler for the season only to find that the water line was leaking. Cue expletives. The tech we had just hired to brave the roof and get it going didn't have enough line in his truck to replace. Cue further expletives followed by frantic pleading and an offer to go buy some ASAP. Tech agrees and I head towards Lowe's but decide to call Ace on the way since they're closer and I'm am SO atlas I did! Andrew answered the phone and knew exactly what I needed and was able to confirm pricing and availability and set a spool at the registers. I bust into Ace like a tornado only to be greeted by a ten plus person long line?!? I cringe inside and internal expletives follow. But much to my surprise the queue was cleared in less than two minutes and I was on my way! The real kicker is that the pricing and selection were better than Lowe's! The beauty of small shops is that you get merchandise tailored to your area, and this area has more evaporative coolers than other areas and Ace knows it. Thank you SLC Ace and whoever manages your orders and inventory, you went above and beyond and had excellent service to boot! read more

Love this ACE, best selection of fasteners in town, beating HD and Lowe's by a million miles

I use to prefer to shop at ACE because of their values and business polices. However, this store has tarnished years of this reputation with in two trips. not only will no longer do business at this store, but due to the lack of actions and oversight from ACE Corp. on the brand partners this will include all other stores. This store has Values, Respect, Integrity or regards to Disabled people and Veterans. I am disabled and need an accommodation that was not unreasonable Deb the paint counter has been a main issue both times. The store manager Bob Hines allows his representatives to disrespect customers as well as continue to allow said rep to instigate issues further. This store and I am not sure about ACE as a whole has discriminatory policies in which most major retailers have been sued for and that police removed. (Not this Store) You are better off spending your money as a VET or Disabled person elsewhere. When I informed Bob Hines that I was disabled he said he did not care not to shop else where and not his store. I have not seen a business with such poor ethical standards or disregard for customers on this level in many years. How these two are still employed by Owner Julie Hurst I have no idea. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK.!!!!! read more

CJ was incredibly helpful and polite, etc.. Thank you Ace! Thank you CJ. Always a great experience shopping at ace

The store is always out of everything. I have spent the past 6 months getting more and more frustrated every time I go here. They keep a VERY low stock so they may have 1 or 2 of an item but that's it so if you are doing anything at all that requires more than one (bracket, wood, pipe, fitting, you name it) go somewhere else. It is REALLY annoying and a total waist of time. "Small store" is no excuse I am from manhattan and the hardware stores there are 1/4 the size and always have everything in stock in abundance. This ACE is terribly stocked. Also, the prices are near double that of Lowe's or Home Depot. Just save your time and go elsewhere. Also, advise to ACE- fire whoever is in charge of stocking items and hire someone who knows what they are doing. read more

Overall a good store if you're in a pinch. The customer service is lacking at this Ace. They don't really have a big selection of products because they are a smaller store. However it's a good hardware place to go if you're in a hurry and don't need anything very specific. read more

I was in need of some very specific types of screws, and was able to find an associate quickly -- a very nice, very knowledgeable man named Bryan -- who knew exactly how to figure out what I needed and exactly where it was. In and out, affordable, easy to find / friendly help. Will definitely be coming here instead of Home Depot from now on; just so much easier to find help and get to what you need quickly. Thanks so much, Bryan! read more

A good supplement to Home Depot; they have a much better selection of certain things but are generally more expensive. They do some simple services here like cutting glass and repairing screens and storm windows. This is nice, but depending on how busy they are it could be weeks before you get your stuff back. If you need an odd piece of hardware, or a very particular type of screw, nut, bolt, nail etc. I'd definitely suggest coming here first. I was able to find the right size Tee Nut (for use with stem casters) after failures at both Home Depot and Lowes. Service can be good if the store is slow, but they seem to have less people running around so you may have trouble getting someone. read more

This hardware store has great customer service. Really it is amazing. While they don't have as good a selection as some bigger hardware stores, i love coming here because they are so helpful. While i was checking out another woman was carrying a bunch of items to the foor, and my cashier ran to the door to open it for her, and then ran back to me. What great service! read more

Ace Hardware - Hardware Stores Near Me - Salt Lake City, Utah

Great local hardware store with great service. You go here if you want to have someone who is an expert help you find what you need. In contrast to the bigger box stores where you can't find an employee or you just can't get good advice. Their hours are good. Their selection is extensive considering the size of the store. Everyone there is always friendly and willing to help.Their curbside service and website is easy to use especially during the pandemic. They have free curbside delivery. Very impressed with their service! Highly recommend that you start here before going to the big box stores. read more

We have a duplex near the store. Nearly always then have what i need! Customer service is intermittent...even though they have 4-5 employees, they get 'slammed'. The grand variety they can stuff into such a small storefront location blows me away. read more

This Ace Hardware has been a pleasure to work with. I recently needed to get some keys made and my car was being finicky. The key guy ran to my car and made sure that my key fit. It took three tries and each time he tried the key so he could see what the issue was (apologizing the entire time). Nothing but awesome service and my key works great! Thanks guys! read more

The manager of this Ace Hardware must not care if he loses customers. I was treated extremely poorly at this Ace Hardware. In my case it's not just today's purchase that Ace lost, it's forever. Avoid. Home Depot has improved in recent years and workers are always helpful in finding items. Shopping locally (Ace) doesn't mean I have to put up with nonsense. read more

Who ever would have thought I'd be longing for the great customer service of Home Depot! I thought that with the great selection that Home Depot and Lowes have, Ace Hardware would have to compete in the area of customer service. Not so. These people really don't care. I only needed a little bit if help, but the employees all looked lazy and like they were depressed. They avoid eye contact with the customers so you don't ask them for help. And when you do get their attention, they don't smile, give a brief answer in a depressed voice, then immediately look back at their paperwork to avoid having to help you any more. I'm on my way to Home Depot now to buy my stuff, like I should have in the first place. read more

One star for stocking the bare minimum for a "hardware" store and another for a semi-convenient location. That's about it. Service is beyond slow and none of the employees seem to care in the slightest. Took me half an hour to get someone to unlock a pair of pliers for me. Would have been faster in the end to drive to Lowe's or Home Depot. Service would have been better too, not just faster. Emerson is a particularly unpleasant employee. Unless I know exactly what I need and know it's self-serve I'll be avoiding this place in the future. read more

For home or office, I can find hardware supplies at ACE. Last semester I took a couple art classes at the U and was able to find most supplies there as well. The service is top-notch and efficient, which saves me time and effort every time I shop there. read more

Great spot for canning supplies, but had the worst experience looking for an adaptor piece for a kitchen faucet I was installing. Ace guy acted like my request would require some special piece and there's no way they'd carry it. Tried Lowe's and not only was the piece cheap with plenty in stock, but the associate gave great advice on some tricks for installation. Ace has good products, but not advice. read more

The staff was very knowledgeable and kind to both me and my puppy. Not only was it a great shopping experience but I forgot my ID at the counter and didn't realize until after they closed but they let me in and gave me my ID back. The whole experience just felt like a visit to a neighborhood hardware store, not the usual retail chain especially considering it was just a few days before Christmas. Very happy with my experience, read more

I love this Ace! They are always super helpful and kind! It is amazing how much variety and quantity they fit in this store! Also, the popcorn is the yummiest! Thanks for always having what I need and helping me find it! read more

Maybe it's just me but I get a little overwhelmed at some of the big box stores like Lowe's or Home Depot. I like the location of this particular store. And the service makes the choice of where to go that much easier. The variety of items isn't as good as it is at the larger stores ... but for the most part Ace is going to have what you need. I joined their frequent flyer program and saved ten bucks on my small purchase today. This will be my first stop whenever I need something. read more

So two months later after hounding the manager on the trim, we were in tremonton for the county fair. WE stopped in that Ace just to see if they had the trim. Low and behold guess who had the stinkin trim!!! I was sooo annoyed especially bc the manager of the BC Ace said he was calling around and no one was able to get it. Again small stuff is fine, but drive to ogden or Logan for supplies if your doing big projects. read more

Folks who live in downtown SLC are l-u-c-k-y to have Ace Hardware on 4th South. The employees 1. know where stuff is in the store and 2. are pretty knowledgeable about DIY home repair - small to medium projects. Like the popcorn, too. A repeat customer. read more

This store is very nice. It is well-organized and has a fantastic nut and bolt selection. The shovels they sell are better quality than the ones at Home Depot. Unless I need lumber, I will always go here instead of Home Depot or Lowes. read more

When and if the 4th South Ace ever finishes remodeling, I'll be there for the Grand Going Out of Business sale. Used to be a great store, but it's been closed so long, without any hint as to when they'll be back, I and no doubt hundreds of other dedicated customers have found new (sometimes better) places to get what we need. read more

I agree with the fellow below who said, "One star for stocking the bare minimum for a "hardware" store and another for a semi-convenient location. That's about it. Service is beyond slow and none of the employees seem to care in the slightest." But I took away a star because of a recent experience with a bratty employee. The owner heard the kids really horrible response, got up to help me not find what I needed (because the store is so poorly stocked) and never apologized for any of it. read more

I've got to this Ace for years and found them so helpful. Something has changed. I took a broken window screen in to be replaced with a new one. After 5 weeks and no phone call I checked to see if it was ready. Yes. Went in and the screen didn't have pull tabs and was very warped. They tried to tell me that it would pop in place. I indicated no I wanted a straight screen and tabs as written on the original order. One more week and no phone call. Repeat above scenario of calling. Went in and saw that it wasn't done with new parts. It's all scratched so I asked for a discount. I got a good deal on it "as is". Got home and the warping started again. I nearly broke it all over trying to pop it into place. My pull tabs break often because they are so cheap. This was the last time I'm having ACE build or repair anything for me. May have to head over to Holladay instead. read more

Came into Ace looking for a certain item, but they did not have it. But they recommended many other places where I could find it. The staff there were so friendly and helpful. They also helped my friend who needed help changing the battery in her key. Even though she did not purchase the battery from there, they were still eager to help her out. 10/10 recommend coming to this Ace. read more

Awesome customer service. Efficient, newly re-worked store layout. Pretty bare bones, but exactly what I'm looking for in a hardware store, personally. So nice to have a local option when I don't want to deal with the Home Depot BS (which is most of the time). Thanks, ACE! read more
