You'll find everything you're looking for to plant in your Reno garden, with plants that are grown for Reno's climate. I also find Old Stone House to have better options for food producing plants and trees than other nurseries in the area. Old Stone House is larger than it looks and you can easily get lost in the maze of wonderful plants and garden decor and supplies. I could easily spend hours here. They offer a one year guarantee on their trees, a 10% military discount, and have extremely helpful and friendly staff. We've typically liked shopping at Carter Bros Ace in Reno because of the convenient location, even…read morethough their prices are noticeably higher than other hardware stores. Unfortunately, our recent experiences have been frustrating enough to make us reconsider. On 11/02, we made a purchase and noticed afterward that we were overcharged. After reviewing the receipt, we had to go back and were refunded nearly $26 from a $72 total. Mistakes happen, but we appreciated the refund being processed correctly. However, things got worse when we saw a charge from the store on our credit card dated 11/28--even though neither of us had visited the store that day. We tried repeatedly to get in touch with someone who could explain the charge, but every time we called, the employee who answered said the person who could help wasn't in and to call back the next day. This went on for several days with no progress. Eventually, my husband went into the store, hoping for some answers. Unfortunately, he was again told that no one was available to help. There was no effort to take down our information, no concern shown, no follow-up, and no offer to pass along the issue to a manager. After getting nowhere with the store, we ended up disputing the charge with our bank. We're disappointed by how this was handled. If you shop here, definitely double-check your receipts and monitor your credit card for any unexplained charges. The convenience of a local store only goes so far when the customer service doesn't measure up.
