When I immediately canceled the order because I needed it that day, I was still charged. I tried contacting support, waited forever, to then have the agent pretend not to hear me then hang up. I had to pop in really quickly while out running errands, and only a hardware store would do. I needed garbage bags, and the last time I grabbed them from the grocery store, I got the wrong size, and they wouldn't stretch over the mouth of the big garbage can I had. Indeed, it was square peg into round hole territory. So even though they surely have the right size at a grocery store, and even though there is a grocery store in this same strip mall development, I popped in to Ace. It's a smaller store, but still has all of the home basics for hardware. I prefer these place much more over massive warehouse big boxes, but the truth of the matter is that the big boxes have much more room for all kinds of items that Ace just can't carry. But garbage bags, they've got. Basic tools, paint, hardware, fasteners, garden supplies -- it's all here. I forget how country Ace can be as well; you can get a Red Ryder pellet gun at this spot. It's like hardware store meets farm & tack. A throwback to old school Provo. This development is always a bustlin' with some restaurants, grocery and hardware. That makes it super convenient, but also super busy. That's good news for Ace. I hope they're around for a while. read more

I had a problem that I needed to talk to the manager brigette about and she wouldn't come to the register to talk to me. The only reason why I'm leaving this Ace Hardware Location a 1 star rating is because there is no option to leave no stars! In this day and age where personalized customer interactions are key, the staff at this location are absolutely terrible! I was treated very poorly after asking a simple question. I asked for the manager and she came out screaming saying to get the hell out of her store! If you don't like servicing people get out of this line of work where you have to work and interact with people! Poor customer service and horrible demonstration of service! I want to give them no stars! Ace is the worst place to shop. We recently went purchased a weed eater and it was not working properly so we brought it back to return it, and because it was used and had gas in it they would not return it. We explained we didn't know that was the policy and requested if there was anything they could do since we hadn't had the machine for more than a week. The manager lady refused and started to become aggressive towards me and told me if i didn't leave they would call the police. Obviously we left because she was crazy!!! And now we are stuck with a $150+ weed eater that doesn't work. We wrote to corporate and no response either! Never shopping there EVER again!! We hope you won't either !! read more

I recently purchased a broken fish tape from Steve Tanner's Ace Hardware store in Provo. When I took the fish tape back, Brigette Mitchell refused to give me a refund. Mitchell cited company policy as the reason why Steven Tanner's Ace Hardware does not give refunds. In addition, Mitchell said that she didn't like my attitude and refused to even give me in-store credit. I have never in my life been treated with such disrespect as I was for simply asking for my money back on a broken item sold to me from Steven Tanner's Ace Hardware. Buyer beware. If you want to shop at Ace Hardware and want to have the option to return defective products, or products that you just don't like, go to Gordons Ace Hardware 3067 Canyon Rd, Provo. I took my weed eater to be repaired on the 22nd of June of this year. I was told that they wouldn't be able to fix it until week 2. After 3 weeks, they told me I must have taken it somewhere else - couldn't find it. After they finally found it, it would be a couple more weeks. I picked it up and took it to the Ace hardware in Spanish Fork where after three hours it was fixed and for ten dollars. This Provo Ace couldn't possibly room to store that many pieces of equipment before mine would be fixed. Incompetent or it's simply not a priority to get small machines fixed. Take your machines elsewhere. I highly recommend the Ace in Spanish Fork. read more

This location is absolutely awful. This is the closest hardware store to me, so I keep offering second & third chances just out of convenience. Yet, every single time I walk into this store I'm reminded of how I would so much rather drive an extra few miles to literally go anywhere else. So here's my beef: the employees are incompetent & rude. Most of the time I'm going to Ace to pick up some paint or tools that require assistance. Every time I ask for paint to be made or tools to be unlocked, the employees roll their eyes and give me push back! It takes at least 30 minutes just to get someone to the paint hub and then takes another 20 minutes for them to make it. I'm a super empathetic & understanding person - I don't usually make reviews because I get it: it's hard to be human and work crappy jobs. But today just broke my shelf for me. I started ordering ahead of time so I don't have to deal with as much flack, so I went ahead and ordered a quart of paint online the night before. It had been several hours after they opened and I was in the target next store so I decided to stop in and see what was going on. Before, when I've ordered paint they tell me it's ready instantly and then make it when I get there so I thought well maybe they are waiting for me to come in so they can make it. The employee that was called to the paint hub was offended that I had stopped in before I got a 'ready' email. I explained to her why I stopped in and she continued to blame me for the inconvenience. She continued to talk down to me, belittle me, and project her emotions onto me. She proceeded to tell me that the machine was broken. Well in that case I'm very glad I stopped in so that I could cancel and get my paint else where because this a project I was planning on doing the same day!! A simple explanation that the machine was broken and small little 'I'm sorry for the inconvenience, here are some options' would have been perfectly fine. But she proceeded to speak to me in an extremely rude tone. Overall, this store just lacks quality customer service. I canceled my order and will never be returning back to this location. read more

Ace is honestly one of my favorite places to shop at. They're not the biggest shop but they're packed full with almost any hardware related thing you need and are reasonably priced. I usually shop at Lowes and Home Depot. From time to time I have shopped at an Ace Hardware. Each time I have found that Ace has the particular part that I could not find at Lowes and Home Depot. I have always been impressed with the breadth of their selections. I had the same experience at this Provo Ace Hardware. I did ask questions and got directed to the items I was looking for. True, the staff was pretty busy, and I did not have anything to return, so I cannot respond to some of the issues others have had with the staff. I wanted to commend them on their great selection, but I did not want to wait until they had a break from the tasks they were working on. read more

On my most recent visit, the assistant manager stopped what he was doing and spent at least 20 minutes helping me to track down the exact nuts and bolts I was looking for. Provo, Utah, Ace Hardware Buyers BEWARE!!!!!!! I went in to exchange 8 bolts bought in another Ace store. I was appalled at the clerks and store Mgr. response as they informed me that it was the store's policy I could not exchange anything purchased from another Ace store. I informed them that I was not interested in receiving a refund. My interest was to exchange the 1 1./2 inch bolt for a 3/4 inch bolt that actually cost less than what I paid. They insisted that it was not possible to make the exchange even though I was exchanging a more expensive item for a lesser one. The manager also said my review was not important to them as it is only one review and meaningless to them. Hence, customer satisfaction is not a priority for Ace Hardware as it is individually owned. I can no longer support Ace Hardware stores hereafter. They do not care about our needs but only theirs!!!!!! These guys suck!!!!! read more
