The staff are all very nice and very knowledgeable. While I use Ring's End for bigger projects, when I'm looking for something specific and cannot find it at Ring's End, I more often than not find that Ridgefield Hardware has what I need. If you don't see what you want quickly, just ask. The great team behind the cash registers at the front will ask when you come in if they can help. Don't be shy--tell them what you are looking for--unless you are just browsing or know exactly where the items you need are located. It will save you time and they'll alert someone to help you. The owner was really attentive and so was his employee. I was amazed at how many different products they had in the store for the size of the place. A lot of the hardware stores in my area went out of business years ago leaving me only with options like HD and LHI. I have always preferred to shop in small local businesses rather than corporations when I can get what I need from them. I really believe in supporting brick and mortar stores in this day and age because the Internet has made it very difficult for them. Small businesses are the backbone of our communities. I really enjoyed just browsing around and then picking up a bunch of stuff that had been in the back of my mind for some time. Sometimes I just have to walk around stores to get ideas on how to fix what needs to be repaired. There's plenty of space to walk around and do that here. I should also mention that the store is very clean and neatly organized so that you can find what you're looking for. I will definitely be going back in the future for my hardware needs.

For example, I once had a stripped screw On one of my cabinet hinges, I went to Bethel handyman To get a Molly plug because I figured I needed to drill the hole bigger and install the plug to get the screw to work. However, Rather than make the sale, the owner told me to go home get some toothpicks......He told me to dip the toothpicks in glue and beak them off in the hole...genius! I was painting white over another previously painted white that had yellow hue I did t like. So easy, right? White over white? Well it's going to need another coat. The paint had such high odor. I felt nauseous and had to stop .the paint didn't cover the molding nicely. It's got streaks , dark areas light areas. It splattered a little .I'll have to do the whole thing over again tomorrow. I plan on visiting the store to discuss a fair resolution. BTW sane paint $20 LESS at Home Depot. I went over to Lowe's Home Improvement for a part I needed and they didn't have it, but the employee at the front of the store looked it up on his phone and gave me some other options in the area. I've never seen another business do that because normally businesses don't help their competition. Their staff put my needs first, even though they weren't going to get any money out of it. That actually makes me want to go back to their store when I do need something else in the future. Other businesses should learn from that model. That's a rare thing in this day and age. I also called the manager to let them know how courteous their employees are and they told me they get comments like that about their staff regularly so it's not an anomaly. Their staff is really helpful and will help you get what you need even if they don't carry what you need themselves. I have always enjoyed shopping here.
