Had install on existing home remodel to spray foam walls and bond -- very disappointed. Workers seemed new and not supervised well. Left the work area a mess to the point a manager had to come out to clean up. Left house totally unlocked and garage open after informing us to stay elsewhere overnight. Later contractors had to chip off areas where spray should not have gone, and fill in low spots where it should have been -- which costed us more in the end. Office was helpful sending rebate information that I might have forgotten. Would only consider them again on a new build, and even then, with some hesitation. read more

The experience we had with ace and sons was excellent. We originally had them coming out to blow insulation in the attic and walls. All three gentlemen were knowledgeable, as well respectful of my home. During the process of starting on the walls, they found the walls were already packed with insulation. They made us aware immediately and we ended up saving money in the end. Overall it was a great experience. Excellent service from everyone throughout the entire process from my phone inquiry to my estimate to scheduling to receiving service! Liz was very helpful in explaining the process, scheduling appointments, handling payment, and answering questions. I was struck that my free in-home estimate was given by one of the co-owners, Bill. He was generous with his time -- walking through our entire house with me and then sitting down at our kitchen table to go through his itemized estimate and provide information about rebates and tax incentives. He gave me his cell phone and provided great, timely communication after he left. I received two estimates from other companies afterwards, and this was the only interaction that hit all of these points. Another huge deciding factor for me in choosing Ace & Son's to insulate our 1940 bungalow attic (and eventually other projects) was that they were the only company to suggest temporarily removing our siding in order to make holes and blow in insulation from the outside, rather than cutting large holes in our bedroom, bathroom, and closet that would become eyesores and require additional professional plaster work. When I asked the others, they told it couldn't be done this way without some outside person experienced in construction or dismissed the idea without any clear rationale. We had Ace insulate our attic and our exterior walls. Since our home was built in the 50's, the walls had no insulation. What a difference it has made. I have a 2400 sq. ft. home and was charged $5,900 for my whole house to be insulated. almost 2 years ago. I was so excited for this insulation to occur. I have been living in my house for 54Years and as the years went on the house became colder and colder. On any given day when the temps outside were 15- 0 degrees and my house temperature would go down to low 60's, below 0 outside it would go down to 57-59 degrees. Since Ace and Son's have put in our insulation I have noticed that my utility bills never went down. They are the same price as all the previous years and now anytime the temperature outside goes down to 15 degrees -0 my thermostat inside my house reads 64 degrees and when we get below 0 outside now my thermostat reads 60 degrees. Not much difference. I had complained to them last winter. They were more then willing to come back out to check over everything. They supposedly added a little more insulation. I had pointed out areas that had horrible drafts coming into the house and they told me those are areas they normally do not do. If I wanted them to do 1 -2 spots, they would give me a break since they were already out for $1,000 otherwise if I call back it will be another $1,500. Unfortunately I did not want to spend any more money with them. I was afraid it would go right out the window. Also when they first came out they were supposed to do our attic. We found out they did not do much in our attic. They told me because we had an attic fan they were not able to do it.. They never discussed with us regarding the attic fan and that they would not be doing any of that area. So what they did up there God Knows. They also told me if I want that area done it would be more money of course even though it was stated in our contract to do the whole attic. I was hoping this year I would notice a difference after they came back out and of course I did not. So upset and very disappointed, and by the way my windows were already replaced 14 years ago. I've wanted to write a review all week during this bitter-cold weather, but my fingers have been too numb to type. Quite frankly, I believed, when I contracted for the whole-house insulation job, that I would be enjoying a warm and toasty Winter this year, after enduring a cold house, even with our two recent mild Winters. But, I sure was fooled. I did not stumble blindly into choosing your company for my insulation job. Instead I researched on the internet, asked around, and also relied on the recommendations of the late Glenn Haege and your company's appearance on "Click on Detroit". So, why would I even hesitate to invest over $5,000.00 of my hard-earned money to warm my small, one-story home? Actually, it was a $5,800.00 job, but I considered myself fortunate to receive a 10% discount from my AARP membership and a $350.00 DTE rebate. I was promised many things in our initial consultation i.e. I would not have to continue to set my thermostat high for my high-efficiency furnace, as this insulation between my walls would keep the cold at bay and the house warmer, my closets and cupboards would be room temperature, my walls would not be as cold as ice to the touch, my feet would be toasty warm as the crawl space would be packed with insulation ... that was a real draw for me, because I work from home, and my work station is directly above the crawlspace. Further, I was told my eaves troughs would no longer be filled with ice as the house would be warmer, so there would be no ice dams or icicles. I was told the basement would be warm and comfy. As an added incentive, I was promised that I'd never see another bug because of the special product used in the insulation job. I was also told the house would be cooler in the Summer as the hot air would not be infiltrating the walls. I was informed the workers would tarp up everything and I would barely know they were there. Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! So many untruths here - and let me just name a few. We had hot weather the day after my insulation installation (June 9th) - I saw no difference in the air temperature in the house and had to keep the A/C at the same setting as I had before this insulation job. As early as September, when we had some uncharacteristically cooler days, I could feel cold air infiltrating the walls and the walls were cool to the touch. Please don't say it was due to small cracks in the windows or door frames, as I sealed everything with fresh caulking over Labor Day weekend in anticipation of a super-cozy house this Winter. The kitchen cupboards were hot as usual all Summer, forcing me to remove pantry items and find an alternate place to store them, just as I have been doing the past several years. Now, the cupboards are so cold, they must remain open to benefit from the heat being on, though it doesn't help much - the pipes under the kitchen sink are ice cold, so I must have a trickle of hot water going constantly in this bitter cold weather. Where I sit in the kitchen, that cold air that comes from the open kitchen cupboards is hitting my feet making them cold, despite heavy socks and slippers - so much for the toasty warm floor that is right above the crawl space which you filled with insulation. Though I've not had any icicles, (and big icicles were never a big problem for me since I always kept my heat on so high), the inside of the eaves troughs resemble popsicles and have been like that since our first snow and ice event in early December. Please don't say the gutters are filled with leaves - they were cleaned out around Thanksgiving and there were no more trees that had leaves in the neighborhood. As for the bugs, I had an occasional centipede before - this past Fall, I was getting at least one centipede a day in my finished basement ... I don't care for those odds, especially being assured I'd never see another bug since there was a special repellent in the product you used to stuff the crawl space. As for the basement, you could hang meat down there - what a disappointment! My salesman, (Bill I believe his name was), told me the basement and garage would be tarped up and minimal mess would incur. I knew my basement and garage were crowded and needed to be uncluttered beforehand, but ... it took me over a month to restore my basement and garage to some semblance of order. The garage was left in a shambles with a few broken yard ornaments, and, in the basement, some decorative items were so speckled with foam, they had to be thrown away, as the product could not be merely peeled or scratched off. Insulation pieces clung everywhere, as did sticky foam residue. Please do not ask to come to this house with your device to detect the cold spots - this complimentary visit would not serve any purpose, because the entire house is cold and the only thing that is HOT, is my temper from seeing the money I spent for a product and job that I consider worthless. Your lifetime guarantee is simply laughable. read more

I called to get some insulation put into the studs in our basement. They send over a guy named Bill. He was very thorough and I didn't feel like he was trying to "Sell" me anything. He shared some of the ideas with my wife and I and then he said he would draft a quote and get back to us. Within the day he had a quote that was very fair compared to what I had researched on the internet. We scheduled his crew to come out on a date that worked. The office staff "Liz" was very accommodating with us to find a time that worked for us. The install guys called in ahead of time and gave me a window of when they might arrive. They were right on time...maybe a bit early. When the installation crew arrived they were very courteous and they prepped our house, laying down canvas to walk over. We had some snow the week that we were scheduled so I was very thankful that they didn't track in any snow or salt on our floors. The guys had a very upbeat and positive attitude and it sounded like they really were having fun. It didn't take them very long to get the job done which I was very happy about.
