From the time we showed up the staff was super friendly and helpful. They helped us get into our wet suits and did a quick safety briefing. Our instructor was friendly and really encouraging of everybody. We had a blast during the group lesson. I'm impressed that the instructor was able to keep track of all of us. He did a great job of coaching those who were less experienced and helping them get up on their boards. All in all, we had a wonderful time and will definitely bring more people back here for lessons.

And after a successful family surf lesson in Hawaii we were ready to take on the Northern California waters! Our 9 year old loved surf camp! And we couldn't complain, they spent all day in the water Monday - Thursday and we got to explore this little beach town I love and one day we signed up to take a lesson with them too! They have all the gear you need available to purchase / rent, new and used. Can't wait to come back and catch more waves! And I'm pretty sure we'll be back for surf camp next summer, too!

Of course you could also ride around beautiful Tiburon too! Scott helped us get our bikes quickly to make sure we made our 1pm ferry (overall less than 20min), which we greatly appreciated. The shop is just around the corner from where you catch the ferry, so very convenient! The only thing negative which made me dock a star was that both Trek mountain bikes that we rented were in dire need of repair. My husband and I rent bikes often when we travel to places, and this was the first time we ever experienced renting bikes from an actual bike shop that were in bad condition (literally your whole job as a bike shop is to keep bikes in good condition to rent or sell, right?). Almost all the gears kept slipping, and on hilly trails like the ones on Angel Island, this made our bike ride difficult and bit frustrating. Only 3 out of the 21 gears worked properly, and they happened to be 3 high gears, so a few of the steeper inclines were brutal. We laughed it off and just accepted the harder leg workout (haha), but overall this was a bit disappointing. For the record, my husband and I are both athletes who bike, run, hike, and work out regularly, so if we were even having a tough time, I can't imagine what it would have been like for an average leisurely cyclist! So instead of taking the bikes out for 3+ hours, we returned them sooner since they were in such poor condition. Other than that, we still enjoyed exploring Tiburon and Angel Island for the first time on 2 wheels! If you rent here, hopefully your bikes will be in much better condition than ours were.

The boats are maintained (and possibly built) by young people at Waterside Workshops and basic but sturdy. The hour rental ($40 total with life vests included) was plenty enough to row from one end of the lagoon to the other and back, with a quick snack break. We are not skilled rowers, and it was fine. I would check the schedule ahead of time, especially during the off season. We went late in the afternoon and were the only ones on the water. Because of our inexperience, I was glad that we weren't sharing the water with any water skiers or a crew team. Just egrets, pelicans, and cormorants.

Although…read moreBaytrail Trikes mostly sells trikes (in the name, huh?), I actually bought a recumbent bike there. They are a ICE dealer, and carry most parts and accessories, as well as trikes from RANS, Greenspeed and Sun. They were helpful, knowledgeable and patient throughout the test riding and decision making process. Also very helpful in sorting out some component problems after the sale, very good customer support! Baytrail Trikes also seem to do a lot of work with special needs/adaptive cycling. That's pretty cool - it seems like most bike shops don't cater to the disabled, so it's really cool that the Bay Area has a shop specializing in this so everyone can get out and have independent mobility.

The items are so diverse. There are many cat-themed items -- not cat lady items, more like "cat dude" items. It's close to the Ashby Bart and the people seem very friendly and low key. They have some wonderful and reasonable art, lots of cool prints. I couldn't tell when they are open, but think it's worth a call if you are looking for a unique gift or artwork for your own space.

I paid (very reasonable price for a quality hemp shirt with custom screen printing) and he took my info.
