Access To Freedom recently came out to service my parents' Stannah chair lift, which they use daily, and is a critical item for their household. When my parents stair lift suddenly failed, they tried getting in touch with Stannah in Garden Grove, who quoted them at least 2 weeks before they could come out and repair the chair lift. When my parents then got in touch with Access To Freedom, Access To Freedom was AMAZING at prioritizing the repair, and their technician Dallas showed up at 11am the next morning (instead of having to wait 2+ weeks for Stannah!). Stair lift was inoperable last night for my 92-year-old husband therefore six paramedics had to carry him up the stairs to his bed. We had another company completely go through this stair lift six weeks ago and they did a terrible job. I purchased a starlift from this company a little over a year ago. I was told at the time of purchase the stairlift would be purchased back from me if I no longer needed it, provided it was in good working order. The stairlift is in great condition and rarely used. Unfortunately my family member passed away so was unable to use it more than a few times. I was referred to this company by someone that told me this was a honest family business. When I contacted the company they told me they would no longer be using this product and they only sold the model because the preferred product was not available. When I purchased this lift I was told this was a great lift and I opted to purchase instead of rent because I was told there was a buy back program. I was never told this product was temporary or sold only because it was available. It also took the company several times to get the lift installed, initially it was on the opposite side of the stairs. I had to take off several days to have the product installed because I was told by Kerri, they sent someone out that was not familiar with the process. Kerri spoke negatively about the employee saying she came from another company. After taking time off of work to have the lift installed Kerri told me the way it was installed initially was unsafe. See the pictures for examples, because they installed twice I had double the holes drilled into my staircase. I am very disappointed this company would sell a product they are unwilling to stand by. Please do not sell any product you are unwilling to stand behind. I purchased this product in good faith only to be told we are not buying them back or selling them. I was told by Kerri the lift company has bad customer service so they are not dealing with the company anymore. Our main reason for purchasing a Stannah stairlift was to help us transport our dog up and down the stairs for walks, four times a day. This is our 2nd stairlift from Access to Freedom. We bought the first in 2016 for my aunt's home, and she loved it! It has a backup battery and it works even when the power goes out. This time, we bought a stairlift for my 87-year old mother, and this beautiful curving Stannah stairlift covers all three levels of her tri-level home. It runs from Mom's bedroom on the second floor down to the front hall, curves, stops at the kitchen and continues down to the family room. We chose a "racy" red Starla chair, which Mom loves for its modern look. I received other bids as well, including the other company selling Stannah in OC which will never get our business. The man who came out was dismissive and visibly bristled at my questions. He told me that our home could not accommodate a single curving stairlift, and told me we needed to buy two separate stairlifts. He said that my mother would have to get out of the first chair at the middle landing and walk to the second stairlift to continue down to the family room. I should send him a picture of what he called "impossible," because Access to Freedom got the job done, and here are the photos to prove it. Access to Freedom gave us one long, beautiful continuous Stannah stairlift spanning three levels, with three stops, and three remotes, while the other dealer quoted the same price for two separate lifts and chairs that would have made our mom stand up to walk between them. Glad we stayed with Access to Freedom. Both Kerri and the owner are fantastic. Kerri is very caring and compassionate. Even though four years had passed, she remembered my aunt, she raced to fit me into her schedule the same day even though I called midday, and she worked tirelessly throughout the production process to make sure our chair came out perfectly for Mom. With Access to Freedom, we all get a good price. Haggling is unnecessary and inapplicable in this industry. These companies are providing a personalized, custom product bringing mobility and independence to our loved ones. Their prices are fair and from my other bids, I now know that. They also carry some used equipment, chairs, and rails, and will let you know if they have something that may work for your specific stair measurements and budget. We installed a Stannah stairlift in January 2018 to help my wife negotiate the stairs on our 3 level split level home. The railings required a custom design and fabrication in England over the Christmas holiday, just when we needed it urgently. ATF managed to get the railings finished over the holidays and it was installed 5 days early. My wife used the chairlift several time a day until she passed away in 2018. As a follow up, I recently had spinal surgery and I am now using the lift during recovery. The lift allows me to stay in our home. 06-30-21: I called Access to Freedom based on great reviews and they delivered. Kerri helped me from the start to finish. We were scheduled for a 9:00AM install today, however, at 8:30AM Kerri called and said a part was missing and it was needed to do the install. My wife who is suffering from Alzheimer's has been sleeping downstairs on the couch for 2-weeks, so another delay of a week was not going to work. I love the fact that they have a showroom so you can actually test out the chairs on the lift. Both Keri and Rick were great and and answered all my questions. (And I had a lot). After I went to their showroom, they came to our house to give us an estimate. There were a couple of other quotes that I got, but Access to Freedom was the best. I read lots of articles about choosing a stairlift, what brands were recommended and potential problems that could happen. All the information that I compiled said that Stannah was one of the most respected names in the industry, so I was elated when I found out this was the brand that Access to Freedom installed. Dealing with them was a pleasure, there was no hard sell or pressure to sign a contract right away. Once we decided to go with them, they gave us an estimated time of 3 - 4 weeks for installation. Posting this review on my fathers behalf- My family and I are disappointed with Access to Freedom and their customer service. We dealt with Kerri. When we asked her to come to our home to see and measure the stairway so we could get a quote, she sounded hesitant and said that the price was very high. When she made it to our house, she took the measurements and gave us a quote of $11,400. The first time we tried to make an appointment with her to see the equipment at their office, she said she had to end the call to pick up another call and that she would call right back. She didn't call back. We had to call again. We did make it out to their office in Irvine twice. The first time was to see and try the equipment. The 2nd time we went to negotiate the final price. We made an offer and Kerri said she'd call us that day. Once again, she didn't call. When we called her back a few days later to hopefully close the deal she came back with a price of $12,700. She said she had made a mistake and was off by $1000 (which was really $1300). I told her to forget it and she said "that's what I expected". It's a wonder how they remain in business. They made us feel as if they were doing us a favor and they did not actually want our business. Read their reviews. Notice how alot of them sound like a sales pitch and praise the Stannah brand and the warranty. Sounds pretty fishy if you ask me. Response to Rick: Rick it would have probably been better to deal directly with you than with Kerri. They told us you would be at the office when we made appointments to show up. I just want to clarify that the quote of $11,400.00 i mentioned in the review was for the new updated chair that we wanted (Not the refurbished). This is the price we were at on our second visit. I purchased a Stiltz elevator/lift through Access to Freedom several months ago and I love it. I researched a lot on line and visited their show room several times where I was actually able to ride in one. Rick, the owner, was so patient answering my many questions over about a one year period while I tried to decide whether to buy one. Every suggestion and advice he provided was extremely helpful and accurate. Most companies require you to get your own contractor to do the ceiling opening, and that was a huge problem for me. I finally gave up trying to do that. But,,Access to Freedom has their own contractor you can hire, if you wish,making the process a breeze. One other company never returned my phone call or emails for an in home visit. Rick, however,answered all my emails so promptly, came up TWICE to LA County from Irvine to help me assess whether it would work in my home and where would be the best place to locate it. The Stiltz home lift allowed me to purchase a 2 level home, as single level homes are hard to find in my area. Rick was great through the entire process and I love my Stiltz. If only it came in red, it would be perfect as a phone booth! I purchased the Duo Thru-car as it is just large enough for my walker. We installed it in a coat closet (minor enlargement needed) and planned to enclose it upstairs, but not sure I'll need to do that as it is working quite well as is. The lift that curves up to the second floor as worked flawlessly. We have not had to call for service or help since they installed the chair lift. I needed to buy a small ramp to get my mom's wheelchair from the house down a step into the garage. I called several medical supply stores, and they said they had ramps, but they didn't provide me with any information about what kind of ramp I should buy. I called Access to Freedom because it came up in the online search. Right from the first phone call, Rick Mills started teaching me about the different kind of ramps and what would work best.
