Stay away from Stiltz - they are amateurs with slick tricks…read more When their salesman arrived at my house, it was obvious that he could not measure properly. He wasn't sure the unit would fit in two areas, but he wanted to sell us the unit anyway. He said, "If you want exact measurements, you'll have to pay $350 for a contractor to measure the specs." Meanwhile, he was busy measuring both areas, but could not trust his own measurements. Then, two weeks later, a second - more experienced - salesman said there was absolutely no problem with one of the designated areas for installation. He couldn't understand why the first salesman couldn't measure properly. It turns out, the unit could fit perfectly in one spot that the first salesman dismissed. Next, I received a quote for $35,500 that included a supposed $1500 discount and the waiving of a riduculous $500 fee for shipping from their wharehouse. However, after reading their "letter of intent" (which was not a proper legal document), I asked about the unknown "contractor's fee." They wanted a deposit with my signature on a "letter of intent" BEFORE disclosing the contractor's fee. When I asked about this unknown cost, they said the contractor's charge would be $300 - just to come out to my home. Then, there would be a charge of $1800 for framing and installing the upper exit door and an unknown charge for removing a small piece of decorative drywall. This amount could have been thousands of dollars. Also, the customer must pay for an licensed electrician (approx. $1500) to install the required power line. Finally, there's a yearly maintenance fee ranging from $570 - $800 depending on where you live. Check out their short warranty that only covers 1 - 2 years. After this, all repair costs for parts and labor come right out of your pocket. I would not pay for undisclosed extra costs by the contractor. So, the second salesman told me the contractor would be at my home after 2pm (at no charge) on a certain day. I waited (3) hours, but he didn't arrive. I received a letter of apology from the second salesman and spoke to the contractor. He promised to arrive on a Saturday at 1pm sharp. At 1:45pm he was a no-show, and when I called him, he sounded surprised to hear from me. He had no excuse, he simply said, "I was tied-up." He said the same thing the first time he didn't arrive when promised. I asked him why he didn't call to say he'd be late, and he said "I'm a contractor, what do you expect?" My response was, "common courtesy." In my view, being stood-up twice was unacceptable. To make matters worse, he told the second salesman that HE REACHED OUT TO ME, but I wanted to cancel. Now I knew I was dealing with ameateurs who don't tell the truth. Same with the first salesman. Meanwhile, this "contractor" was supposed to be the leader of the team that was going to install my unit. When I advised the second salesman that the contractor didn't keep the appointment again, he profusely apologized and agreed that working with Stiltz would not be a good decision for me. I agreed - especially after the misrepresentations, hidden fees, immature nonsensense, untruths, and irresponsibilty. I was delighted to sever ties with Stilz.

I have only good interactions with the company and staff. Since I can't bring my elevator to them, I'm required to pay for their time to come to me. Usually, when I have a problem with my elevator, a tech is out that day to find the cause. If it's after normal working hours, the techs are more than happy to come out, just requires authorization for the charge. The front office understands the mechanics of maintaining the elevator's equipment and necessary inspections and/or reports. When I've asked a question, they willingly explain in layman's terms the answer. I'm glad as the original manufacturer, they can replace the same parts, which costs less than upgrading. I recommend this company for its honesty, friendly and helpful front office and great service motto. They keep my elevator running.

The tech called my cell phone and proceeded to scream that I need to pay $450 or he's not coming. I said I'm only a tenant, I'm not the landlord, I'm not paying out of pocket. He started screaming at me and telling me "I know where you live, I know your phone number, and I'm going to sue you". Let me tell you, as a woman who lives alone, I'm not going to tolerate a man threatening to come to me where I live. LESS than zero stars. This man is a predator and has no business entering any residential property.

I have been having my elevator serviced for approximately 9 years. When Diamond recently serviced my elevator, they overcharged me and provided poor service. I had the following issues: 1. They charged 3 hours for commute time and they did not inform me in advance of this charge. 2. They insufficiently staffed the job by sending only one technician. Previously they sent 3. 3. Because the technician was working alone, he had difficulty identifying the problem. 4. They charged approximately 2 times more for similar service as compared to the company before it changed ownership. 5. They were not honest in that they did not inform me that the company had merged into Diamond Elevator. I thought I was still working with Dockmaster.

Then they sent out a supervisor who actually got the elevator working and said they had to order parts. Would get back with a quote. Then I got double billed. When I tried to get the charge reversed, the person who answered the phone, Christina, said no. She refused to put me through to the foreman or anyone else. Numerous emails to her went unanswered. Again she refused to let me talk to anyone else. I was billed 495 for the bogus visit as well as 495+280 for the second visit. I never disputed the second charge and wondered when the part would come. After about a month Christina finally told me they didn't want to finish the job. BEWARE of these scam people. No idea what she was hiding from the higher ups.
