When I moved into a new house it had their system installed and the prior owner claimed to not know the system master code. The system randomly chirps and sometimes alarms inside the house. All we can do is silence the alarm each time, but nothing else. Sonitrol customer service said I would have to set up active service with them, including a monthly monitoring contract, for them to reset the code. I explained I didn't want a monthly service, just the ability to turn the system off. I was willing to pay a one-time fee for them to come out to reset it, but was told they couldn't help me with that unless I established monthly service. So I have a system in my house that I cannot turn off and Sonitrol wants to hold me hostage until I enter into a long-term contract with them. Ridiculous and terrible service!

They are more than happy to sell you a system but should you have any issues with it or need to cancel, forget about finding a willing partner to work through it with you. Some of the worst customer service I've experienced in twenty years of doing business in Charleston.
