Locked out of your RV or camper??? I found myself locked out of my camper at James Island County Park campground with phone, purse, camper and car keys, and EVERYTHING locked inside. Quite a predicament to be in! I was appreciative of Billy Reid, the owner of Coastal Lock & Safe, responding in a timely manner to quickly unlock the camper door without any harm done. He lives locally and is not farmed out by some company in Chicago or elsewhere to respond. The first three companies I called operate in this fashion. They responded by telling me they would have a technician in the area contact me. Three did and all seemed sketchy and very difficult to understand. They also could not assure me they would not simply drill the lock out. I'm glad I passed on them and found Billy Reid of Coastal Lock and Safe. read more

My digital lock on my safe and quit working. They showed up, on time, and replaced the lock.

Monday morning and I can't lock my front door, so I'm stuck! I found this business on Yelp and Billy responded quickly and had the problem solved in record time - before the other companies even acknowledged my service request. What a relief! And what a nice man - polite, efficient, patient, and clearly an expert. Thanks, Billy, for the reassurance of a job well done. My first and only call the next time I need a locksmith will be Coastal Lock and Safe. read more

Quick response to inquiry and was able to assist immediately to unlock door. Further, he was kind, respectful, and professional. Price was less expensive than I imagined it would be. read more

Could not be happier with service and will definitely use Coastal again. Front door lock was broken and in multiple pieces. Asked for quote late Monday morning, got quote early Monday afternoon, existing lock was fixed and working fine by Tuesday at noon. Matthew was courteous, informative, and very good at his job. Whole thing was done and paid for (at minimum price quoted .... very happy with that) in less than 15 minutes. This is a very honest service-oriented organization. I think most people reading this realize how much more time and money could have been involved in this. read more

Billy was very responsive and a great down-to-earth person to work with. Let me know when he was on his way and had 3 deadbolts rekeyed in around 30 minutes. Outstanding job and work ethic--even fixed a sticking door that had bothered me for a year! Will go-to Coastal for any lock and safe needs that ever come up. Well done and great value! read more

Could not get a call back as told i would. Guy on the phone was clueless. Wasnt a good sign

Didn't return for a small issue or return calls/msgs. I have no option but to move on and find another locksmith.

They arrived in a timely manner, keeping me apprised all day. They changed the lock and we're on their way. Very pleasant gentlemen. I would hire them again and do recommend Coastal. read more

Billy answered right away and was able to come to my house within a few hours to change my locks on 7 doors. He even fixed two doors that were not closing well. I highly recommend Coastal Lock, could not ask for better service and response time. His company is my go to now for any lock related issues. read more

Locked out of your RV and not a local? Coastal Lock is the best! I phoned them at 6:00 PM. I described my issue which was a door lock on our Winnebago. The handle was jammed. Billy said he could take a look at it, but kindly reminded us that if he came that moment he would have to charge the emergency/after hours fee. I said it could wait until the following day. He could have easily just not called back in the morning... but he did!!! We made arrangements to meet at a public parking lot. He discovered the problem which required a part he didn't have or really would ever carry. Given the time crunch we were in, he found a temporary resolution for us to be able to open the door, and at least lock it from the inside, so we could move on in our travels. He could have said "I can't help you" and turned us away, being we were staying at the campgrounds for a couple of days and were not locals. Being in the customer service industry, I can say with confidence, Coastal rocks!!! 5 Star, stellar service. He was our hero!! Thank you Billy!! read more

Billy sent his guy Mathew out to me and he was fast and arrived on time! On top of that, they are super affordable, I had a new key cut for my truck and programmed before I could even realize he started the job! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! read more

Excellent service from the initial call to completing the work. Needed locks Re-keyed as well as some adjustments to a digital lock. They did a great job and were very quick. He even went above and adjusted a lock so it would work better. I would not hesitate to use them again. read more

Matthew came out to check the handle on my storm door and all it needed was to be tightened a little bit. I was so excited that I didn't have to replace the whole handle. It took him less than 15 minutes! When it came time for the bill, he didn't even charge me for this---even though I offered! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I have used them several times and have them on speed dial! read more

Quick, affordable and didn't sell me a new deadbolt. Worked on the existing one that the key wouldn't work. Took it apart and repaired jammed pins. Works great. $85 flat fee, service call. Fair and friendly. I would recommend them. read more

5 stars! He responded immediately about my desperate inquiry as I was locked out of my office right before a very important meeting. He arrived as soon as possible and was very polite. The job had already been completed before on site maintenance arrived so I can't speak to work quality but I will definitely call him again if I need to! read more

Outstanding all the way. Billy was super responsive: stopped in the middle of a job to take my call and was able to schedule me less than 18 hrs later. Knowledgeable, professional and REASONABLE on prices! I Spoke to two other locksmiths prior to Coastal L&S who absolutely price gouged me. Billy was like a surgeon on the locks and a pleasant man to speak with. Highly recommend. read more

I've wanted to write this review much sooner, but wasn't able to do it and I believe Billy may still remember. I called Billy and asked if he could come by any time in the near future for rekeying some locks, or something like that, since I didn't know anything about it. He said he would be here in an hour and my jaw actually dropped. He came, looked and made it happen like it was nothing! Billy is a wonderful, reliable person, which I was able to count on and his expertise on knowledge showed. He is very reasonable, especially for this otherwise expensive area! read more

Prompt response, quality workmanship, reasonable price. Called on a Monday and work was done within 24 ho Another call. This time to fix the door on the side of the garage. As usual, good communication, good work, fair price and on time. Thanks! read more

After purchasing a new home in Charleston we asked Coastal (Billy) to come out and change the locks. He arrived promptly at the agreed upon time and after a brief discussion of what we wanted, went right to work. He was polite and made fast work of the 5 locks we asked him to change. After he left, we noticed we forgot one lock. He made time the next day to return and rekeyed the forgotten lock. Outstanding customer service!!! Will definitely use again for other lock issues. read more

Coastal Lock & Safe did a great job. They promptly called me back. They were here quickly. They were professional and got the job done, and the pricing is very reasonable. "Safe" in their name is not a marketing gimmick, they really do work on safes, unlike some of the other locksmiths in the area. Coastal Lock and Safe is who I will call in the future. Thank you! read more

If I could give 0 star I would. Billy told me he has worked on many old French doors so I trusted him with our 180 year old French doors on our historic house. BIG MiSTAKE!!!! I had to leave and left my husband to pay him. $352 later what do I have to show for it? 1) our $150 door hardware installed with silver screws instead of the brass ones that came with! The brass screws were no where to be found. Lovely right???? So glad I purchased expensive door hardware to throw away the matching screws and use easier to install ones. Who cares if they match? 2) a butchered 180 year door with a crookedly installed lock (picture taken AFTER my husband cleaned up the jagged edges of the cut made on the old door. This I paid $352 for!!!! If you want a quality job, call someone else. Oh yea, after I saw the work and tried to contact him, he has not bothered to respond to me. At least tell me what we did with my brass screws so I fix your crap job!!!!!! read more

Coastal Lock & Safe - Threw away brass screws and used these silver ones (they were brass to match and slotted to be in keeping with the replica hardware!) - Keys & Locksmiths Near Me - Charleston, South Carolina

Called Billy after finding the listing on Yelp, and they were located on James Island near me. Told me he would call in a bit when he was nearby. I had said it was not an emergency just needed an old file cabinet unlocked. He called back within a short time and arrived as promised shortly after that. It took him about 30 seconds to unlock my file cabinet! I asked him to take a look at the locks and deadbolts in the house. He gave me a reasonable quote, and suggested what I should purchase if I wanted to replace the old ones. He will be back to install soon. Love to support local businesses, especially one that is helpful, professional and fair. Thanks Coastal Lock and Safe!! read more

Called Billy to fix a deadbolt cylinder that had fallen out. He came that day to fix and was gracious about saying the previous fix it guy had just done a poor job of anchoring it within a double door deadbolt. Bottom line....fixed in a few hours, reasonable price and nice honest guy. He's on my contact list now. Should be on yours too. read more
