I want to start with: The staff working was kind, but this place is not the best. The portions are small. The granola goes on the bottom so you get the smallest amount of açaí and the fruit toppings don't exceed the top of the bowl. The açaí is also not the best; extremely sour to the point of bitter. Lastly you have to pay extra for each topping. $1.00 for a tiny drop of peanut butter is silly. my go to location was out of my route today and decided to pop in here for today, 100% will never come back here. I always get my extras on the side since I notate it on my receipt and the girl had asked me again to confirm but still decided to put it on top and I asked her for it she said " well you have to pay extra" as if didn't already pay & if I want another when I clearly said on the side, and just rolls her eyes and walks away. Looking for a good smoothie place near my work. Came across Acai Republic since it's near OC farm supply. It's fresh and, although expensive, holds up to local comparison for quality and price. I thought this would be my go-to-spot as they have an app where you can order ahead but it seems there are some issues. They are very accommodating, but they are also always very busy and so run into issues very often it seems. I'll keep coming as they are so kind and good quality fruit. The first time I ordered through yelp and she recommended that I use the app next time to order ahead. They were short one ingredient that was very easily replaced, that did mean that they did not make my order ahead of time and I had to wait, but it's understandable as they wanted to know what I wanted to replace it. The second time I ordered through the app and when I arrived, I was told it wasn't quite ready yet despite ordering at least 10 minutes ahead. She finished making up the orders that she had in store and then called me up to the counter to let me know that a major ingredient in the smoothie I ordered wasn't available. She listed a number of options and things that she could do to replace it and, to be honest, I was a bit overwhelmed and not sure what I should do as I just wanted something that was approximate and the same price so it was fair. She was flustered and it was real awkward handoff although she gave me extra ingredients and a pretty bag. All this is to say that it's not very convenient to order ahead here as they are very often short ingredients and prioritize in-shop orders. read more

Acai Republic - Orange (Near Chapman) Stopped by Acai Republic and honestly, I don't think I'll be coming back. The spot is small and a little stuffy, with only a couple of tables, and the vibe felt mismatched--reggae/Brazilian music playing and MMA on the screen. Now, the whole ordering experience was a bit of a mess. There was a giant kiosk that initially looked like an advertisement, and we couldn't figure out that it was actually where you place your order. Once we realized, we ran into the issue that the menu had some confusing options, and there was no one at the counter to answer any questions. One employee came out, waved in our direction, pointed at the screen, and walked away. A little disappointing--I get the whole self-serve kiosk thing for convenience, but you're really missing out on the human connection here. Another thing--I'm not a fan of the cashless policy. While I get the reasoning behind it, not everyone uses credit or debit cards, and excluding cash as an option seems like a missed opportunity. Everyone should be able to order, not just those with a credit card. Plus, customer service is about more than just efficiency, it's about engagement, and without that face-to-face interaction, the whole experience felt pretty flat. A quick greeting, a "How's your day going?" or some help with the menu can really make a difference--especially when you're new to the place. As for the bowls, we ordered two--one came without the toppings we requested. Not sure if it was a glitch in the app or if they just forgot, but at that point, we weren't going to ask for a fix. The fruit was fresh, but the blueberries were a bit too tart for my liking. We also paid extra for chia pudding, but when it arrived, it was in a tiny 2oz cup. For what we paid, it definitely didn't feel like a fair portion. Overall, the bowls were decent, but they didn't blow me away. The experience didn't feel memorable, and considering the competition around, this place just doesn't stand out enough to make me want to return. Honestly, I have never had any interest in an açaí bowl. I try to not consume a lot of sugar, etc and if I do, I prefer to consume it via salty/savory foods. I just got a surgery last week and I was at home recovering and I have the most amazing family and friends who dropped off a bunch of food but, for some reason, I wanted an açaí bowl! My husband was at work and I'm not about to drive so soon after my surgery so I ordered it from Postmates. I rarely order for delivery because I'm not lazy and don't have an excuse. I started talking to the employee about what I wanted, and he immediately directed me to the large screen to order on. Recently, I've been craving an acai bowl and this was the closest one to where I live and honestly it was delectable. However; the service was not the best and to standards especially since I myself work in the food industry. I was welcomed in and was expecting to order and make conversation with the workers and was pointed to a large screen to order my bowl. The interface isn't too confusing if used others previously but it wasn't what I wanted to my standards of ordering. Another thing I'd like to mention is the acai base puree, I was not expecting there to be banana in the base since I have been to previous places that do not put other fruits into the base. I do have a mild allergy to certain fruits and after taking a few bites I realized that it started to taste like banana and I just ended up with a stomach ache and bloating. I'm pretty disappointed with the service and lack of interaction when it comes to helping customers. I also believe that the pricing is a bit much for what I got since I got a mini bowl which ended up being $12.
