I'm hoping that our bad experience will not occur with another person, but if you are vegan or allergic to dairy please have a heads up. The menu descriptions on the walls do not give their full description. If you want to see the breakdown you have to go to their website, which by the way is extremely inconvenient when wanting to order "fast food". So before going down the path of website research we thought we'd ask the staff who should know their ingredients. My friend is vegan and allergic to dairy, so she's used to having to ask questions. To verify before ordering we asked does the strawberry banana kale chiller have dairy? The woman said no we use a nondairy base. So we ordered the smoothie. Which when we received looked pretty milky to us, so we went on the website and found the ingredients of their "nondairy" smoothie base. The base does not have lactose, however it does contain dairy, so if you are vegan or have a dairy allergy then you cannot consume it. This is where the situation turned. When we went back to kindly let them know and show them the website. One staff member was nice and was willing to make a new one without the base, however another member who we think was the owner got angry and wanted to argue that we were wrong and wouldn't acknowledge what we found on the website. We weren't demanding our money back, we just wanted to have something that my friend could have, but the rudeness was completely unnecessary. read more

Billy has the most incredible customer service. He gives great eye contact and gets our order correct every time. We don't go if he is not working. We really appreciate his positive attitude and work ethic and my wife thinks it's fun to look at his muscles too. He is extremely professional and always has a positive attitude. I was in the area again today and was delighted to see them still in business. I opted for a Strawberry Pineapple Chill (not the smoothie -- the one made with ice). I was looking forward to it SO much.. But was highly disappointed. There must've been two strawberries and two pieces of pineapple in it, if that, because there was hardly any flavor. The prices are pretty high but at least they put a dome lid so you can get the rest of the smoothie that's left since some places will just toss it. The flavor of the smoothie was good... the banana and peanut butter wasn't too strong even though that was all that was in my smoothie so could've been a lot of ice added. The smoothie is not that good, but the review is mainly for the service. The employee taking our order, Esme (it was on her hat she didn't event look up to say hi) was incredibly rude. We were ignored for a solid 5 minutes which I understood because one of the employees looked really busy. Then Esme came out of the back to take our order and had the absolute worst attitude about it. If she's gonna work there, leave her in the back. She was huffin and puffin about taking our order, and got mad because we asked for something that was out of stock(we obviously didn't know that). Then she was mad when she finished our order even though we weren't done ordering and had to add another drink. If two people are waiting in line, they're probably each gonna get a drink Esme. So I stop her and say, "I told you I'm allergic to banana, you've just contaminated my cup and the blender." She responded "I'm being careful, what's the problem?" She then remakes my drink USING THE SAME CONTAMINATED CUP! My friend picked up the drink and threw it out. Also, the owner was helping assist his employee. Then after making 1 drink, stopped and went to the back, despite still having drinks to make, and people in line waiting to order more drinks. All around horrible experience. The service can be sketchy at times. But if they're reading a magazine or in the back stock room, I say a loud hello and they usually come out with a smile. I only order one thing here because I love Taro smoothies. Yes, I've had other flavors, and make lots of berry and mango smoothies at home. But their Taro smoothie is my favorite of the several places I visit for that. They've also figured out that a lot of people who like Taro are Pacific Islanders and Asians, and many of us are lactose intolerant. But this Surf City (and maybe all of them) use soy milk. I am not sure what brand they use, but their taro smoothie has a smoother texture than others and has a very very light coconut aftertaste. I once had a milk and ice cream based Taro smoothie, and I was dangerous playing tennis. My doubles partner laughed so hard at my gas problems that he almost fell a couple of times. There was once a lot of health nuts who wanted soy milk products cuz it supposedly had some anti cancer properties, but I think that benefit has since been debunked I always get the large, and I don't care how fattening it is. I dont drive out of my way for a teenie cup. No, super size it for me. But don't drink it too fast as it's ice cold when you get it. People tell me they get a headache from eating ice cream or drinking very cold drinks. Also, a lot of surf cities don't have the variety that this location has. They will even make it a protein rich smoothie for a small extra charge. They're located upstairs in the food court. read more

I love their low calorie smoothies. I sometimes buy them everyday for lunch. They have great sizes and reasonable prices. I wanna give a shoutout to the male asian worker there usually around lunchtime on the weekdays. He's always a nice, cool guy, and provides EXCELLENT customer service. Makes me feel very comfortable coming there every fregin' day to order the same damn thing every other day. Favorite is the pineapple blueberry but I think they're all good as hell to be honest. Always a delicious and refreshing smoothie. Sometimes the line gets hectic i wish they would put up some kind of barrier up to guide the line. The Banana and PB smoothie is one of my all time favorites! Yesterday i tried the Ginseng Fling Medium sized at 440 calories. It has a scoop of whey protein and ginseng powder. It has pineapple and blueberries but i cant remember the 3rd fruit. It was really good especially considering the ginseng kicked in about 30 min to 45 min later. It was totally worth trying it just for that reason alone. Gave me a great pick me up for the rest of the day. The service is always friendly and they try to get you out as fast as possible. Mostly, their drinks are blended but they also offer iced Milk Tea/Thai Tea. What kind of sucks about this place is that it can totally be a hit-or-miss with your drink depending on who makes it for you! We've had the same drink made by two different people and they taste very differently! I love that they offer 3 different sizes and the largest is darn LARGE! Their prices are also very reasonable and, almost, cheap! You can also add many different supplements like Whey Protein, bee pollen, b-complex or just plain, delicious BOBA! We always drop by every time we visit main place mall. My GF always gets the strawberry banana smoothie and I usually get the strawberry lemonade. I love how creamy the smoothie is. You definitely taste the banana and I appreciate that the strawberry flavor tastes more like the real thing than just a sweet syrup. The lemonade is always consistent and refreshing. It's got the right tang but is slightly sweet for my liking. Once a little ice melts away in about 5 minutes though, it's perfect. The chunks of strawberry are like candy for me.
