This was a new location for us, and after parking and figuring out where to go, a male employee outside directed us to the sample rocks. We found what we needed in under five minutes. When we walked into the trailer to pay at approximately 1:58, we were met with an extremely unwelcoming attitude. There were four employees inside, and not one acknowledged us. A blonde woman behind the counter looked up and abruptly said, "We are closed," in a very dismissive manner. ( Sadly, I didn't catch her name but she was blonde and sounded like she's smoked one too many cigarettes ). I completely understand wanting to leave on time, but the delivery was unnecessarily rude. A simple, polite explanation would have gone a long way. We were purchasing five rip rap rocks, not placing a large or time-consuming order. What makes this more frustrating is that the employee outside who directed us never mentioned that they were closing in 10 minutes, which would have allowed us to respect their time. We are repeat customers, but unfortunately this is not the first time the front desk staff has been unhelpful or unfriendly. Customer service matters, and based on our experiences, I would not recommend this business. Honestly, you're better off walking around in the desert to find some free rocks rather than deal with this place. And that's what we did!

I desperately needed it for a project I am working on in my office. I have been calling and driving to different lumber yards for weeks, so I was thrilled to finally find a place who had what I needed in stock. On my lunch, I drove an hour to pick up the sheet. When I got there, I walked into the warehouse area, which was very nicely layed out, but I was unable to find the 10' x 4' sheets. I politely asked a short, older, redheaded lady, who clearly was not interested in helping me, and I said, "excuse me, are you able to help me?" She turned around and looked at me and her body language spoke volumes. No smile. No hello. No, "absolutely, how can I help you?" NOTHING kind was emanating from her. I was immediately put off by her vibe. She instantly made me feel like I was a bother, instead of treating me like a new, potentially paying customer. She acted like I was interrupting her day just by merely asking for assistance. If you work with this lady, you know what I'm talking about. I said, "thank you, I need help finding a certain type of wood. I've walked the entire warehouse and I only see 8' sheets of wood." She basically rolled her eyes at me, like a snotty teenager, and asked me "what type of wood do you need?" "I said I need birch or maple." She was quite rude and her tone was not nice at all. She replied, "so you don't have a measuring tape?" as she about faced and started her way to the customer counter to grab a measuring tape. I quickly said, "yes, I have one in my purse, but maybe you can point me in the right direction?" She immediately walked me over to where they had tons of 2x4's and speciality wood. I told her, "oh sorry, I need a sheet of wood." She replied rudely, "so you need plywood." I said, "Yes, sorry. I've walked the entire warehouse and didn't see anything that would be 10' long x 4'." She just gave me a smug laugh and said, "that has to be special ordered." I said, "okay, well my husband called this morning and the man on the phone told him you had them in stock." She said, "no," as curt as can be. Then she said, "it has to be special ordered." I said, "how long does it take to order?" She said, "I'm not wasn't sure, it might not even be in stock. If you order it today, IF it's in stock, it might be here by Friday." Man, she was clearly an unhappy person. I asked if she could please tell me how much the sheet would cost and she very rudely snapped, "it's a commodity, so we don't know until we place the order." This lady was a piece of work. So RUDE in every sense of the word. She didn't even try to offer to look it up for me. Whoever hired her, or if she runs the place, do NOT DO BUSINESS here. I will tell everyone I know not to buy here. I have never been treated so awful, simply for asking for assistance. There was absolutely no excuse for her to treat me like she did. She treated me like I was an inconvenience to her day and like I had no business being in that store asking for help. I told my husband what happened. He was irritated I drove all that way and then I was treated risky and he was misinformed. So, he called the store and the guess who answered? Cruella Deville. The same sharp, rude lady answered The phone. He explained his conversation to the gentleman he spoke to at 9 AM that same morning and that his wife had driven an hour to pick up that 10'x4' sheet pre-sanded 3/4" plywood, but clearly did not have. She reiterated rudle, lit has to be special ordered," and then cut him off and said, "how can I help you?" He was instantly lit by her demeanor and basically ignoring the fact he was misinformed. He said, "you can help me by training your staff on what you have in your inventory." He ended up hanging up on her because of her crappy attitude. Never buy your lumber from "Woodworkers Source." People remember how you make them feel and they will tell everyone about that 100 times more than a great experience they had.

They will sell directly to the public, but not at the same low prices their contractor customers get. Ask for their "preferred contractor" list if you need an installer. They have 2 design consultants on hand and my wife and I found them to be very helpful and friendly in planning our backsplash design. We went home with several samples and ended up having our installer purchase our materials there. The store has a pretty good selection of products on display, but isn't as big as a few of the other design shops out there, thus the 4 star rating. Still, would highly recommend UBC.

I found a large 10 ft. iron front entry door at a 'steal' of a price. My sales rep (Carla) was there to answer all of my questions. Since the door was a floor model, I had a few things I needed to know before I purchased the iron door. Question #1- Was the door complete? Answer- YES Question #2- Was there any damage or was anything missing? Anything I needed to know? Answer-NO Questions #3-Was there a deadbolt and keys with the door? Answer- Yes Carla mentioned that there were a few 'nicks' in the iron painted finish and would send the door out with touch up paint kit. I purchased the door on a Thursday and mentioned that my contractor had an iron door specialist to install it. "Oh no...." Carla said, "You should use our door installer. If anything happens, we guarantee the work." So, I agreed to use Unique building Concepts door installer. He was to install the door the following Monday. When he arrived with the door, it was missing the deadbolt & keys, the bottom sweep and the touch up paint kit. I immediately called Unique and asked to speak to Carla. She was busy and I was on hold for quite some time before she finally picked up. She told me that the door installer picked up the door too early and they could not get the door ready for me in time. (5 days after purchase wasnt enough time?? But she blamed the installer) Carla told me that I could get a sweep fairly cheep and the deadbolt wasnt too expensive either so not to worry! She promised to mail the touch up paint. Wow! I thought....thats a bunch of crap! I was told the door was complete! Now your telling me to run out and take care of this stuff myself? I mentioned to Carla that she was my sales person and she told me that the door was intact. She then told me that the owner wasnt going to help me because "I got such a good deal on the door" and her hands were tied. Well, after installation, my contractor came over to inspect the door. The 10 ft door had half of its mounting brackets hack-sawed off by their professional door installer! The brackets were left lying on the ground on my front porch area. He said the door was not safe to have installed that way and we all scratched our heads wondering why he removed half of the brackets? Again, I called Unique building to speak with Carla but this time she would not take my calls. In fact, I had to call several times, over several days to get her to speak with me. (She never once called me back after I left messages and again blamed someone else in the office for this error.) When I told her about the poor installation job and how my contractor said it isnt installed safely and would not pass permits or codes, she basically said... "Well, youll have to talk to the installer. He said its just fine, so thats between you and him!" What happened to my guarantee with using their installer??! Well, their installer refused to do anything different, so I had to hire a new door guy to weld the brackets back on and re-install the door. After the new installer put the deabolt on, he informed me that the door did not line up with the jam. Hence the reason no deadbolt was on the door to begin with. So, my new guy had to re-drill the jam as well. Bottom line, they sold faulty products under false pretense and lied about everything. To make matters worse, the owners of this business thinks it is all fine and dandy to run his business this way! My contractor actually cancelled his account with Unique after this shady dealing because he was so appalled at their behavior. Bad, Bad, Bad Customer Service. They were the biggest nightmare of my building and remodel!!
