STAY AWAY! I contacted Absotemp because my air conditioner broke -- right before a heat wave. I was told that there was a service charge of $90 and was given a 4 hour window. Matt, apparently the owner of the company, came a few minutes after the end of that window, a couple minutes after 4:00 p.m. (BTW, he smelled of pot.) When he got here, he asked what the problem was & I explained that the air conditioner wasn't working. He immediatey went to the furnace. I told him I wasn't having trouble with the furnace, it was the air conditioner. He then proceeded to tell me that they are connected, my furnace is old and inefficient, and possibly dangerous. He spent a lot of time looking at it and taking pictures. He then got a phone call and was gone for about 15 minutes. He came back and continued explaining to me about the different kinds of furnaces. I reminded him that I called him about the air conditioner. He asked what kind of thermostat I had and then he finally went to look at the air conditioner. He said that was old as well (both were probably original and from the 1970s), but he couldn't figure out when. He called someone about tracing the model, but they couldn't do it either. He then came back into the house & said he'd go into his truck and write up an estimate. An hour and a half later, I went outside to see if he was still here. All of his prices were really high. And again, it was AIR CONDITIONING repair that I contacted him about. After he asked if I had any questions, I said, "I asked you to come out because of the air conditioning. Can you do anything about it?" He huffed and went outside. He came back in after a couple minutes and said that it was the motor fan and "There's nothing I can do about, it Sweetie." :O (That was the second time he called me that!) When I asked if he had any suggestions, he said "Stay in the basement." It was not said with humor. He then asked for a check ("or an ACH") -- AND HE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING except waste nearly 4 hours of my time. I had 3 other companies come out after that. Not a single one charged for an estimate, they didn't take ridiculous amounts of time, and they didn't try to oversell me. Needless to say, I chose a different company. read more

This is one of the best companies I've ever had come out to my house the gentleman were dressed nice they knew what they were doing they cleaned up after themselves they took care of things came on time put tarps down where they were working and Shop VAC the whole area and I've had no issues since they did the repairs on my furnace I would highly recommend this company The owner was very positive and nice and I'm so glad I picked them to do my repairs on my furnace they certainly will be the company I picked to install my next furnace. read more

This review is for our service technician Nick. He was great at answering my questions about the service needed for our air conditioner. We had purchased both a Trane heating and cooling system with Absotemp about nine years ago and the air conditioner definitely needed service as it was not cooling properly. After going over with us the parts that were needed (btw we live in a mobile home) to service the AC, we decided to replace some of the parts, but not all that were recommended. (Due to financial reasons). Nick was very professional with our decision and did a spectacular job at cleaning our coils to make the system work again. Kudos, Nick! You did a great job! read more

Abso-lutley not! Matt came by to inspect our AC which was not blowing cold air. He replaced a capacitor for $400 and cleaned/tuned up the unit for $150. The unit was not fixed like Matt claimed it was as he left. Other HVAC companies came out and observed that the AC refrigerant was completely empty and expressed that they were very sorry this guy had clearly ripped us off! He tuned up the AC, charged me $550 and didn't notice it was out of refrigerant! When my wife asked for our money back, he said he would apply half towards a new AC unit. Stay far away from these guys and find somebody with integrity. read more

Our AC unit had gone out. We were quoted $99 to come out and provide a quote. It was only when the technician arrived that we were told that we would get an additional charge for a diagnosis. Little did we know that the total was $250. The diagnosis was not explained, we were told that the office would send it. We never received it. And they can't even fix our unit until next week sometime. So we are without $250 and sitting in the sweltering heat. NEVER AGAIN. read more

STAY AWAY!!! I only had a problem with my blower fan in the furnace. Within 10 secs of Matt seeing my furnace he suggested I get an entire new one. I only wanted to change the blower fan. To my surprise, my quote for fixing the blower fan was $1,600 which was absurd. It was obvious he just wanted me to buy a new furnace from them with the price to fix It was triple what I had expected. He told me the parts for my furnace was very expensive and continued to push me to buy a new furnace for $6,000!!! I decide to call another company and had the blower fan replaced for $250 with labor!!! It's very sad that a company like this would try to take advantage of people. I would never recommend them nor ever call them again. My advise is to pass on this company. read more

Matt is a scam artist! My experience the same as other reviewers ie service charges with no attempt to fix my furnace. But my case has a twist he disabled my furnace when he didn't like my feedback that I wouldn't be replacing my entire system just because I needed a hot surface igniter. read more

Executive summary: Absotemp lies. Their work is substandard. Do not buy an extended warranty through them. Do not sign up for their maintenance program. My guess is they're compensating their new customers for good reviews and especially so on Google Reviews. Save your money and go with a different company for new equipment installation and spend a few hours on Google learning how to maintain and fix your own equipment. The previous owner of my home was suckered into a full high end Trane furnace and A/C with electronic air filter, extended warranty, twice yearly service program, and a new water heater. The water heater was improperly installed which led to it needing to be replaced at only nine years old. The A/C unit had a major failure at only eight years old but it is possible that was a poor design by Trane. Still, a very very expensive system needed $3k in repairs not covered by the standard warranty at only eight years old. The service program, which I was able to observe once while pretending to be clueless about HVAC, is a horribly overpriced and glorified filter cleaning. You do not need to measure your gas flow rate and you absolutely cannot use a nylon brush to clean a flame sensor. It simply will not clean the carbon off. Emory cloth is the industry standard though sandpaper will suffice in a pinch. Even though Absotemp had been servicing my home regularly for the previous owner the flame sensor was so dirty (covered in carbon deposits) it stopped the furnace from operating at only six years old. Absotemp wanted to charge a service call even though I knew what the problem was from the symptom, flame sensor cleaning is part of their winter service they had theoretically already been doing yearly for the previous owner and they signed the plenum stating the service was complete, and they would be coming out anyway for the final cleaning the previous owner already paid in advance for. I went ahead and fixed it myself and then let them come for their final (ever) seasonal cleaning on my home. Terry was nice enough but it was clear to see the flame sensor was never properly cleaned. When I cleaned it a few days before him it looked original and never before cleaned. Then Terry brought out the nylon brush and explained to me how delicate the flame sensor is and why it's important to gently clean them. With that I figured out their system. Look and sound like you're doing good but don't actually clean the part that reliably fails then charge a service call when it does. Most furnace breakdowns are the flame sensor or igniter. Flame sensors can usually be cleaned but it's not a guarantee. Igniters must be replaced when they break. RepairClinic in Canton is an excellent supplier of repair parts. I keep a spare of both, flame sensor and igniter, ready to go for the next break down. Conventional wisdom says it happens every 4-7 years so it's well worth spending the $30-$70 now on parts and avoiding the $200+ service call later. For my system the flame sensor is about $12 and the igniter is $50. On a service call I'll wouldn't even want to see what the prices would jump to. Lastly, on Google review the owner Matt claimed Absotemp has been in business since 1986. Well, Absotemp wasn't registered with the state until 1993 and Matt's mechanical contractor's license wasn't issued until 1998. read more

Absotemp only works with Trane, which is good because that is probably one of the best brands out there. Absotemp also focuses in a "full service" type customer, one who is looking for the best service coupled with the best brand name HVAC. He spent a good two hours looking over the house, measuring, and explaining the various types of furnaces. The weird thing was that I didn't receive a qoute before he left. Aperently he has some sort of computer system that helps him decide which furnace is best. This contrasts highly with other servicers out there who came in, looked around and had a qoute back to me in 30 minutes. With where I was in my life, I wasn't looking for a full service approach, but I can see how someone might be interested in it. I feel like my parents would be more interested in the amount of care that he provided in the qoute. If you are looking for lowest initial cost, probably not the place. But may be good for a best value/best service approach. read more

We had issues with our air and called them to take a look at the problem. Matt, the owner, came out and took a look at our system. He wrote a few things down for me, and left after about 15 minutes. He charged me 179.00 for those 15 minutes. When I looked at the invoice, there was a charge for $80.00 diagnostic, and a $99.00 mysterious charge that he wrote on the invoice. I asked what the charge was for (because it was written under the "tax" portion of the invoice). He said that it was a trip charge. I asked what the difference between the 2 charges was, and he could not give me an answer that made any sense. I was upset about the charge, called him back, and he agreed to refund some of my money, so I only ended up paying $99.00 for the trip. Still high compared to their competitors, but at least somewhat reasonable for 15 minutes of work. If not for him returning at least part of my money, I would have given a single star. I felt like the whole time he was there, he was simply trying to get me to buy a new furnace, and didn't care about repairing my old one. He said that there was some "R & R Contactor" that needed to be replaced and quoted $290 to fix it, and that I would also need a tune up for $150, and I would also likely need to fill it with new refrigerant for $300 - $400 in addition to all of that. I had a competitor take a look. They came out to look at it for $70 and that included an AC Tune up (this is $250 cheaper than what Absotemp charged for the same thing). They also said that their price to fix the part would be over $100 cheaper. But I didn't need to fix the part, because it was not broken. This competitor was able to tell me that all I needed was some refrigerant. He also laid out the costs and benefits of replacing the Unit so I could make a decision on what I wanted to do. I had him fix it and it works great now. I will NOT be using Absotemp in the future. read more

We just had our furnace, water heater and air condition all done at one time. We picked Absotemp to do the job. So glad we did. Matt came out and worked with us. He sells Trane. We found him from the Trane web site. Trane had two other places listed, but we decided to go with Matt and his team. I just felt they would do the best job. It was perfect. Really nice to work with. He was not the cheapest. Never buy cheep you will always get what you pay for. So far we are very happy with the package we bought. read more

Our furnace was slowly dying, so we called Absotemp. Matt came out and took a look at our furnace, confirming what I already expected. We reviewed three systems and the pros and cons of repairing a failing system. We chose a new Trane system. I love the system (already had a Trane AC). The new control panel is easy to use and can be controlled with an app on my phone. Matt, the staff in the office and the technician who did the installation were all awesome and easy to work with. They did a professional job. All areas where work was completed were cleaned up by the technician. I am definitely an Absotemp client from now on. Highly recommended. read more

If a lower rating could be given it would be. I called this company listed the exact issues I was having. They came to the house and had no clue what was going on. The service guy spent multiple hours on the phone with another guy covering basics. I spent more time explaining my system to them - which was installed before I moved in and I know nothing about hvac systems. At the end of it they are charging me for the hours the service guy was here on the phone. I have no recourse because they wouldn't leave and I signed the paperwork so I have to pay. But I would suggest going forward if anyone has issues with them refusing to leave your residence you call the cops and not sign the sheet like I did. I have tried to work with them to reduce the bill as they did do some work. They replaced a fuse and I figured out my original issue which was crossed wires in my thermostat wiring (which should have been a 2 minute fix for them if they would have checked on the actual issue I was having). read more

Absotemp was wonderful! My furnace went out on one of the coldest days we've had in decades! I called and within a few hours they were out to try to repair/evaluate my situation. It was 20 years old, so we decided to replace. My new furnace was in and heating my house by the next evening. They were very knowledgable and professional - and extremely hard working! I think they were working around the clock during those days of extreme cold! The previous owners of our house used Absotemp for years and now I see why! My air conditioner went out and I called my regular company to replace it, Matt's quote came in $2000.00 less than than the company I had been dealing with for 15 years. His crew was out the next day to install the new unit. They were knowledgable and efficient and completed the work that day. Matt called the next day to make sure the unit was working properly. Watch out! Absotemp charged 3 times as much just to come out for diagnosis compared to other companies; I had to call after Absotmep. Another, well known, company in the area fixed the same problem ($284), that Matt assured us would likely cost thousands to fix. Then, the sales pitch started, Matt threw out numbers for buying a new system, from him, starting just above the cost of his estimated repair. After about 10 minutes of the old hard sell Matt was up to new systems in the low five figures. No hard numbers for anything, just higher and higher. It got really bizarre when Matt explained; with the energy savings a replacement is really free! Just pay up front and get it back in about 12 months. My heat went out and I called them as they had installed the unit for the previous homeowner. Matt (the Absotemp owner) looked at it and immediately told me I would need a new furnace because the parts he would have to replace would be very expensive. He called another technician on speaker phone to trouble shoot (not sure what they were testing, if anything), and wrote down that my control panel failed and would need to be replaced. It was concluded I would need a new furnace and should probably replace my AC at the same time (never had an issue with it). He started pitching me on new furnaces, wifi thermostats and air filtration systems. I called for a second opinion right away. The other company came out and knew immediately it was a bad igniter and would be $70 to replace. 10 minutes later I had heat and everything worked as normal. Nothing wrong with my control panel... They said I do not need a new furnace or to replace other parts. Not sure how Absotemp didn't even consider the igniter and how my control panel "failed" but works perfect now. My bill went from almost $6k (suggested by Absotemp) to $70!!!. Stay away!! read more

Absotemp is my HVAC service provider for a few years now. It installed an A/C unit in one of my properties, and also is servicing another property. So far everything is going well: no issues. Compared to other companies I have used before, which came with some service quality, communication and price issues, Absotemp somehow makes me feel that it cares about the customers. I would just like to state that Matt and his team at Absotemp Climate Control came to the rescue when my furnace stopped working during a snow storm and below zero temp's. They worked very hard and late into the night until the job was finished and the heat was back on. His team is experienced in what they do and they also cleaned up after themselves every day until the job was complete. I felt very comfortable putting my heating needs into their hands. Then two days after the new furnace was in my hot water tank went. I called Matt and he was there in less than an hour and by that evening a new hot water tank was installed and I had hot water again. I will continue to use Absotemp Climate Control for the maintance of my new furnace and any other needs that are gas related. Thank you again for a job well done. It is a good feeling to know that I can just pick up my phone and place a call and have whatever the issue is addressed and taken care of. They are defintelty a 5 star company. read more
