Sadly, I had a negative experience with Absolute. Let me start with the positive: they are inexpensive. But, there are _so_ many cons. See below. Look elsewhere if you can... The cons: (1). [Left me high and dry]. My building requires insurance. I flagged this for Kareem on our first interaction, and I provided him with details. Kareem assured me that they had the insurance needed to move into my building. However, three days before my move, that he did not have the required insurance. Kareem never apologized for leaving me "high and dry". (2). [Failed to complete the job]. Kareem simply did not pack up all of the items they promised to do. I spent several hours packing up items that they "ran out of time" to do. (3). [Tried to renegotiate the terms]. Kareem agreed, in writing, several times, to move my piano as part of the quote. When he arrived, he said that it was "not possible" to move the piano...then tried to charge me extra for moving it (4). [Used bad boxes]. All of the boxes Kareem used were used (yay for being environmentally friendly!), but some were torn / broken / not suitable. I worry that it will damage my stuff during the move. (5). [Left my items unattended on a busy street in New Haven]. Pretty self explanatory! But not cool! (6). [Did not deliver on his promised boxes]. Because of (2), I ended up having to pack myself. Kareem promised to leave boxes for me to do this packing...but he simply didn't. When I asked, at the end of the job, if he had any extra boxes, he simply walked away. (7). [Rude]. More generally, interacting with Kareem was an extremely unpleasant experience. He never apologized for any of his mistakes...he was extremely slow in confessing that he did not have the required insurance. read more

Kareem and his men are great! Messaged him on 04/22 for a moving date of the 30th from Hartford to Montgomery County, MD. He was able to reserve a spot for me on the 29th and got my stuff out in a little more than an hour. Took everything apart, took whatever I needed to move and did it throughly in a small hallway apartment building. I was also in a walk-up and they did it with ease. Before going with Absolute Packers, I was getting quotes from moving companies for more than $2k of what Kareem offered me. Delivered my stuff bright and early on May 2nd, he was even up before I was. They came assembled everything in about an hour and a half and out my things where I wanted. Kareem and his team were nothing short of fantastic. They were extremely careful with our things and were efficient in getting things done quickly and neatly packaged. The ONLY downside I would say is communication; at least in my experience. Quick story is I originally asked to do the move in 1 day. Then that changed and I needed them to hold my things overnight and deliver the next day. When I called them on the phone I was told "no problem, it's just $200 extra". I took this at face value, but then I come to learn it's $200 plus the additional day rate (min 4 hours). So basically my rate just doubled. I just think that could have been made clearer from the beginning. Don't get me wrong though, this company is fantastic and I would absolutely recommend them for a move. read more

I noticed a few dings here and there and would ask them to be more careful with furniture around the corners. These guys are awesome! And this price point cannot be beat. I would recommend anyone moving in the CT area to book them. Kareem was very responsive and easy to communicate with via text and the guys he sent for my move - Kurt, Nate and Bear were amazing. They worked so fast and took really good care of our stuff. We were moving from my in-laws and they have 2 huge dogs and both went a little crazy when the guys arrived which I think shocked all of us - they were super cool about it even though I felt terribly! Basically, I think Kareem and his co-workers are responsive. They help load up all the things to the truck, and drove to the apartment I rent in Boston on time. When I found the furniture they loaded off was not complete after they left, I called them and they drove back to hand them over to me. That's very nice of them. Only one thing is, they charged me additional $120 when I arrived later than them for about half an hour, Kareem had a mad mood when he said that I was waiting their time on the phone. One box had a broken item, but that was probably due to my packing job. We like Absolute Packers so much that we used them again at the end of the summer to move a large piece of furniture for us.
