Not with Card I wasn't. Mike and Dave came over, got the blower working, and got it tightened up so it is no longer sounded like it was dying. I am expecting to pay an after hours service call charge and would have happily paid it as I was grateful they came so quickly. They told me it was just a regular service charge. I would have paid a few hundred, $400 - $500 for an after hours charge and repair with another organization. Not to mention they could have told me it was the blower motor and it needed to be replaced as that is what I was expecting. These guys are great. Their service is HONEST, very fairly priced, and every time they have come the same day, sometimes within a couple of hours. They also give very detailed explanations of the issue and what they are doing to solve it. They are very transparent. I cannot recommend Card enough! Having lived in other places and dealt with other organizations I am extremely pleased that I found them.

Rather than detailing each issue (which the company would likely try to excuse, as they did every time I raised concerns), I'm posting pictures so you can judge for yourself. I strongly recommend getting everything in writing--many verbal guarantees I received were completely disregarded. For example, instead of floor units in my kids' bedrooms, I was given ceiling units, one of which is positioned so low it practically touches my son while he sleeps. Now, as I'm finishing my basement, I had a friend who works in HVAC assess the mess Earth Tech left behind. He estimated it would take 3-4 days and cost around $3,000 to fix. He also explained the risks associated with their work: pipes joined in the middle are prone to future leaks, especially when unsupported, as stress on the joints increases the likelihood of failure. With so many joints, locating a leak would be nearly impossible. Shockingly, much of the system is held together with duct tape. While this may last through their warranty period, it's clear the entire system was designed to last just long enough to shift the responsibility of repairs onto the customer.

Almost a month ago I called just before a heat wave to report that my central AC was not working. They sent a tech the next day. After an hour's work he told me that he could not fix the AC because he did not have the necessary equipment. Huh? They sent a tech to fix the AC and didn't send him with the right equipment to fix an AC? Then he said he would "try to come back tomorrow" with the right equipment. Tomorrow came, and he didn't. So I called High Ground and was told that the appointment had been set up for a full week from that day. How did "tomorrow" turn into the end of next week? Anyway, the heat wave came and went and I did not have AC. A few techs finally showed up at the end of the next week with the equipment they said they needed and worked for an hour. Then they told me they would have to order a part and charged me a deposit of $900.00. The AC still didn't work without that part. Another heat wave came and went with no AC. I called again and asked if the ordered part had come in. I was told that the tech who worked on the AC was on vacation and would not be back until the following week. At that time they would review the account and find out what was going on with the part and the service to install it. What the... Why did he have to be present to find out what was going on with the part? Why didn't High Ground know whether or not the part came in and assign another tech while the first one was on vacation? By the time he returns, I will have gone without AC for over 3 weeks since I first reported the problem. Totally unacceptable. Do not do business with this incompetent outfit.
