Shop closed without warning while my heirloom clock was there for repair. The owner has ignored all emails and phone messages. He left no home address and I have no way to contact him except for the email and phone number left on the door which he doesn't respond to. I left my clock with him for 3 months and he never repaired it. Said he was too busy. Now he has closed his shop and those who had clocks with him for repairs want to know where he is now located and worried about their antique clocks!!!! He should have notified all his customers about the move, very unprofessional of him! read more

Had my grandmother's mantle clock that needed fixing. I had looked at it and could tell it wasn't in terrible shape but did need help. It is a small place, basically a home, and when you walk in there are many older clocks for sale. The place is run by one person and you can see that he stays busy with all the clocks and watches behind the counter. He took a look and said it needed cleaning for sure and after a cleaning readjusted. Both things I had seen and read about on the internet. The service for that is over $300. He said it would be around two months for it to be finished and asked that I don't call to check on the progress because he is the one that answers the calls and that slows him up. He is nice and answered my questions and didn't rush me out. He said the cleaning doesn't take to long but the adjustments are done over a period of days to make sure the clock keeps its time. I would recommend the place if you have the time to wait. If I remember I will update this when I get the clock back. read more

The owner has moved out of the shop on Cass Street. All of the clocks that were being worked on are gone. He promised me he would fix my clock 6 weeks ago, but he never did. Now he's gone MIA. He does not answer his phone, and he does not return messages. read more

I wonder at his health. He has had my clock more than 6 months. On the phone he says "Don't call me." The repair quote he gave me is more than the value of the clock. So I have said "Goodbye" to my clock. Jean in Monterey read more

I've used About Time in the past and had a very positive experience years ago, but my recent phone interaction was disappointing. It appears to have a new owner. When I called to ask about servicing a clock I bought there, the person who answered was abrupt and dismissive. He answered the phone with "What do you want?" and responded curtly when I explained why I was calling. I was also told no repairs would be accepted until April. I understand businesses have scheduling limits, but the tone and communication felt unprofessional. Based on this experience, I chose to take my clock elsewhere. read more

Unreliable---keeps items for months awaiting repair. Does not respond to phone. Did good work many years ago . . .

I took my antique clock here for repair in November 2023. He told me it would be a month before he could fix it and told me not to call that he'd call me. After a few months I called and he fussed at me over the phone for calling him. He gave me lots of excuses as to why it wasn't fixed and again said he'd call when it was done. I March 2024 I went to his store and asked for my clock back. Turns out he didn't have it. He'd given it to a friend to fix. I told him I wanted it back fixed or not. He called me the next day to say he had it. I went to get it he charged me$250 although I couldn't see how he had changed it any but it was working. He then had the nerve to charge me $10 for a new key to wind it. I recommend going anywhere else for repairs except this place. read more

Thank you Vlad! Back in late February, I'd decided it was time to get my Junghan's 1940 bim-bam serviced, but the store I'd bought it in PG was long gone. Luckily, I found Vlad and About Time. This man is a true craftsman in a trade that's nearly forgotten: People don't realize how lucky they are when they find somebody of his ability and expertise! I ended up buying a magical antique mantle clock with a Sonoran chime I'd always wanted. Vlad worked with me until I was completely satisfied. Now, after a couple of visits and a little time getting to know him a bit, I've come to find him one of the most interesting people I've met in a good while. And his faithful companion, Rusty, one of the most friendly and gentle dogs--is obviously a reflection of his owner. (Note: I'd thought Vlad kept my old clock key by mistake--but found it weeks later after it fell out of a shirt pocket. I wasn't surprised. When he replied, "I always make sure to return them," after I asked him if he might still have it, I believed him. That's because one should be able to tell he knows what he's talking about and is a man of his word.) Barry C read more

This is a wonderful, old-world shop. My little German-made cuckoo had never been serviced and Vlad is going to make it like new. I was greeted by his faithful dog Rusty. This is the third antique clock he has worked on for me. One was my Bakelite English mantle clock which is home, happily purring and chiming. Thanks Vlad, for taking such good care of our clocks. read more

I find it hard to believe this place exists. How many places fix anything anymore? Let alone do it with competence and to perfection. I brought 2 clocks: a 1906 Ansonia mantel clock I bought in a train station in London in 1969, and a banged up wall clock that had been rotting away in the garage. The Ansonia is like new now, keeping time, chiming away, and sits on the mantel of our guest house, built in 1903. The wall clock, per Vlad, is a German piece made around 1880. He restored the case, the works, the pendulum, and even dug up a top trim piece that was missing. It's simply magnificent. Trust me, this shop is the real deal. We are so glad we found them! read more

You just can't find antique clock repair shops. Have gone here a few years. Keep in mind, the owner became ill in the Spring and another man has been trying to get everything in order and all repairs caught up. So if you go there, be patient. A true craftsman. I bought my treasured clock there 15 years ago and he has maintained and repaired it for me ever since. He has also been great with wrist watches. He is honest, reliable, and his prices are less than he should charge. In todays age of disposable products About Time is a rare gem for anyone that enjoys mechanical works of art. read more

I have a beautiful vintage clock in copper by Georg Jensen which was in a sorry state. The clock movement no longer worked, the housing was missing pieces necessary to keeping the clock together, and the glass face was chipped in several places from a previous owner's attempts at repair. About Time Clock Shop was able to restore it to full functionality while retaining the original movement, something that was important for me for a collectible item such as this. They also fabricated new copper clips to replace the missing ones and cut a new piece of glass for the face. The clock now hangs over my desk and has kept accurate time since I got it back from the shop almost a month ago. I was also surprised by how little I had to pay for all this work, truly a great value for skilled, custom craftsmanship. I don't often have need for clock repair service but I would go out of my way to visit this shop again if I do. Highly recommended. read more

Hands down, the best artisan and craftsman when it comes to clocks from every era. I took my antique clock in, in pieces: brokeny spring and a host of problems and neglect. What came out was a beautifully restored clock in perfect working order! I was amazed that the clock I once heard as a child had come back to life! I would never trust anyone else to complete what was needed to restore my old clock to its former glory. Thank you so much. I will give you 10 stars if i read more

I have an old Westclox Big Ben Moon Beam alarm clock. When the alarm goes off, the clock blinks light instead of noise. Once you have this kind of alarm clock you can't do without it. Vlod's shop is like one from the old lower East Side of NYC where people with Slavic features and matching temperament weren't particularly scary. When I first realized I was going to pay Vlad every few years to clean and oil my clock it made me realize how much I treasured it. One time I felt afraid that I was being taken advantage of in the clock shop, but I waited it out. I talked to Frankie about my concern with what he charged me. We easily worked it out and my fear went back to where it came from. You really can't pay enough to people who can care for what's worth caring about. read more

I brought a Vienna Regulator to About Time Clock Shop. It was in such a poor state of disrepair that I would not have been surprised to learn that the movement was beyond saving. Restoration required fabricating new parts, gears, etc. Mr. Vlod Pabian the owner of About Time Clock Shop took less than a couple of minutes to look my clock over, after which he informed me that he'd make repairs and let me know when it was completed. Within 2 weeks I was back to pick up my fully restored Vienna Regulator. The quality of Mr. Pabian's work is astonishingly impeccable. I couldn't be more pleased. read more

Great service and friendly. Fixed up an old clock that was on its last leg. Would recommend.

My brother and I had our pristine grandfather clock repaired by Frankie on July 6, 2023. The clock would not stop chiming and and the weights were not descending evenly. Frankie arrived promptly and noticed that the clock needed to be cleaned. He displayed a calm mannerism since clock repair requires a lot of patience and technical skills. It took Frankie a little over an hour to get the clock running again. However, due to the uniqueness of each clock, the clock stopped after Frankie had left. After trying out some troubleshooting suggested by Frankie, he offered to return back the following morning. It was just a matter of swopping the 1st and 2nd weights on the clock. What impressed me was that Frankie stayed for a period of time afterwards just to make sure that the clock would continue to work. It did!! Thank you, Frankie, for your expertise, patience, calmness, and mastery of a skill that few have nowadays!!! read more

After much research on Yelp, went to this place to have a new metal watchband shortened for my husband, who was with me. The store looks cool inside--lots of interesting old clocks. The owner (Vlad) said he couldn't adjust that kind of watchband but had another guy who was coming in the next day who could. He looked at my husband's wrist and the watchband size and said it fit anyway, so all he needed to do was put it on. I asked how much that would be, and he said $18. I said, "Whoa!" and he said, "Maybe $15." He took the watchband to go attach it, and I said, "What if it doesn't fit?" He didn't answer. He came back a couple of minutes later, and my husband tried it on; it was too big. The owner said, "That's how it's supposed to fit." We said it was too big; the owner said he would take 2 links out and have it ready the next day. I said, "What if we need more links taken out?" No answer. He wrote up the slip, and we left. The next day, the watch was ready, as promised. My husband tried it on; it was still a bit loose, but we both just wanted to be done with the transaction and get away, so we didn't say anything. We paid ($18, not $15) and left, unhappy. To make matters worse, the owner let his pit bull out, unleashed, right when we were leaving; we're not scared of dogs, so it was okay, but I didn't like that he'd done that, and the pit bull didn't move out of the way when my husband tried to go down the steps holding the railing since he was older and frail. A very unpleasant and expensive (for what we got) experience. We wouldn't go back, and we found a much nicer, significantly cheaper place nearby for a subsequent watch repair. read more

I am new to the area. My kitchen clock which was a gift to me 30 years ago stopped working. I took it to McPeek's Timepiece, he was going to charge me $100 without a guarantee to work. my husband said in that case I can do it too. We got the part for $10 on-line but he could not do it. I decided to search for clock repair service one more time. That was a time I found " About Time Clock shop". When I pulled to the drive way I did not know I had to make an appointment because of COVID. So I called to make an appointment, Frank was very nice, he saw me out there said I could just go in that he could look at my clock. After looking at it, he said he can fixed it right there while I am waiting. It did not take that long, he fixed the clock for very very reasonable price. What liked the most , his customer service and being very professional. He did not send me back , he took me in, also he did not try to sell his work by saying " it's very complicated and hard. It takes lots of time to do it" I defiantly go there again and recommend him to everyone. read more

I decided to stop by the clock shop after reading reviews of another shop in the area charging up to $30 to replace a watch battery. So glad I did! The owner was courteous and professional and changed two watch batteries for me while I waited. I also needed one watch to be repaired as a screw had fallen out. I was in and out in about 10 minutes and was charged $13 to replace each battery and was charged $2 for the extra repair work. I'm very pleased and will be back in the future next time I need a watch battery replaced or repair work! read more
